• 2D management game [on hold]

  Very newbie question but I have a game idea in mind. It will be 2d and data centric, like football manager. However I am struggling to find a platform that would suit. I am an experienced line of business developer so am happy to write code, but I would like a platform that does some of the leg work for me so was avoiding OpenGL. I would also like to be able deploy to iOS, android, windows and OS X. What are the options? To be more clear, the game is not a normal platform or shooter type game, so game maker is likely to be way too basic and unity seems a little over the top (though I am not sure if the GUI options would fit?). The majority of the game is more like business screens just displaying data and having buttons to click. Are there options for this type of game (May help to look at football manager)?

  I'm about to develop a web site for a new client. It's not going to be very intense, but one requirement is that, if possible, the client wants to be able to manage the photo gallery themselves. Since they are not technically savvied at all, I was wondering what utilities exist that provide a GUI for users to log in to manage photos. Can anyone make a recontamination? I haven't purchased the web hosting yet, so if your answer requires a specific type of host server don't worry, I am open to options.

  I have SQL Server 2005 operating on a remotely hosted server and wish to access it from my own machine using management studio The firewall on the remote server is allready setup to allow all traffic from my external IP - and that works great. However I have a load balancing router that has a second line attached to it - unfortunatly the second line has a dynamic external IP. I need to therefore set up a rule in the router to always send data from Management studio on the first line - but I need to know the port numbers. Can you advise?

  I have a SQL 2008 R2 Express on which backups are made by executing sqlmaint from windows task planer. Several backups ran into an error and got stuck in state SUSPENDED with wait type WRITELOG. How can I get these backup processes to stop so they release resources? Simply killing the processes doesn't work. The process will stay in KILL/ROLL for a long time. This didn't change for several hours.

  Intel NICs have a driver option (in Windows) that will log link state events to the system log, so if the network drops out periodically you can determine that fact. Does anyone know of a simple generic solution that does this, in other words one that is not part of the driver from a particular manufacturer? My question revolves around the problem of installing a program from source. If I where to build a distro with no package management system what possibilities would I have for maintaining the program is up to date. My only idea would be to keep a record of all the programs installed from source and perform a periodic check to identify if a new version is out.
