  • marshal data too short!!!

    - by Nitin Garg
My application requires to keep large data objects in session. There are like 3-4 data objects each created by parsing a csv containing 150 X 20 cells having strings of 3-4 characters. My application shows this error- "marshal data too short". I tried this- Deleting the old session table. Deleting the old migration for session table. Creating a new migration using rake db: sessions:create. editing the migration manually, changing "text: data" to "longtext: data". running the migration using rake db: migrate. now when i open my application, i see this page- link text please someone help me, this is getting on my nerves!! other details of application-- In view "index.html.erb"- There is a link that makes ajax call to an action in controller, that action parses large csv file and makes an object out of it. this object is stored in session. • Using dispatchertimer in combination with an asynchroneous call

    - by Civelle
Hi. We have an issue in our Silverlight application which uses WCF and Entity Framework, where we need to trap the event whenever a user shuts down the application by closing the web page or the browser instead of closing the silverlight application. This is in order to verify if any changes have been made, in which case we would ask the user if he wants to save before leaving. We were able to accomplish the part which consists in trapping the closing of the web page: we wrote some code in the application object that have the web page call a method in the silverlight application object. The problem starts when in this method, we do an asynchroneous call to the Web Service to verify if changes have occured (IsDirty). We are using a DispatcherTimer to check for the return of the asynchroneous call. The problem is that the asynchroneous call never completes (in debug mode, it never ends up stepping into the _BfrServ_Customer_IsDirtyCompleted method), while it used to work fine before we added this new functionality. You will find belowthe code we are using. I am new to writing timers in combination with asynchroneous call so I may be doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what. I tried other things also but we without any success.. ====================== CODE ============================================== 'Code in the application object Public Sub New() InitializeComponent() RegisterOnBeforeUnload() _DispatcherTimer.Interval = New TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, 500) End Sub Public Sub RegisterOnBeforeUnload() 'Register Silverlight object for availability in Javascript. Const scriptableObjectName As String = "Bridge" HtmlPage.RegisterScriptableObject(scriptableObjectName, Me) 'Start listening to Javascript event. Dim pluginName As String = HtmlPage.Plugin.Id HtmlPage.Window.Eval(String.Format("window.onbeforeunload = function () {{ var slApp = document.getElementById('{0}'); var result = slApp.Content.{1}.OnBeforeUnload(); if(result.length 0)return result;}}", pluginName, scriptableObjectName)) End Sub Public Function OnBeforeUnload() As String Dim userControls As List(Of UserControl) = New List(Of UserControl) Dim test As Boolean = True If CType(Me.RootVisual, StartPage).LayoutRoot.Children.Item(0).GetType().Name = "MainPage" Then If Not CType(CType(Me.RootVisual, StartPage).LayoutRoot.Children.Item(0), MainPage).FindName("Tab") Is Nothing Then If CType(CType(Me.RootVisual, StartPage).LayoutRoot.Children.Item(0), MainPage).FindName("Tab").Items.Count = 1 Then For Each item As TabItem In CType(CType(Me.RootVisual, StartPage).LayoutRoot.Children.Item(0), MainPage).Tab.Items If item.Content.GetType().Name = "CustomerDetailUI" _Item = item WaitHandle = New AutoResetEvent(False) DoAsyncCall() Exit End If Next End If End If End If If _IsDirty = True Then Return "Do you want to save before leaving." Else Return String.Empty End If End Function Private Sub DoAsyncCall() _Item.Content.CheckForIsDirty(WaitHandle) 'This code resides in the CustomerDetailUI UserControl - see below for the code End Sub Private Sub _DispatcherTimer_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles _DispatcherTimer.Tick If Not _Item.Content._IsDirtyCompleted = True Then Exit Sub End If _DispatcherTimerRunning = False _DispatcherTimer.Stop() ProcessAsyncCallResult() End Sub Private Sub ProcessAsyncCallResult() _IsDirty = _Item.Content._IsDirty End Sub 'CustomerDetailUI code Public Sub CheckForIsDirty(ByVal myAutoResetEvent As AutoResetEvent) _AutoResetEvent = myAutoResetEvent _BfrServ.Customer_IsDirtyAsync(_Customer) 'This method initiates asynchroneous call to the web service - all the details are not shown here _AutoResetEvent.WaitOne() End Sub Private Sub _BfrServ_Customer_IsDirtyCompleted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As BFRService.Customer_IsDirtyCompletedEventArgs) Handles _BfrServ.Customer_IsDirtyCompleted If _IsDirtyFromRefesh Then _IsDirtyFromRefesh = False If e.Result = True Then Me.Confirm("This customer has been modified. • Calling a function of en external javascript file

    - by strakastroukas
Hello. In general... How can I make a call on a function of an external javascript file? More specific... In the head tag i have <script type="text/javascript" src="JScript/FontSize.js"></script> The external javascript file, (that i would like to call) FontSize.js contains the following functions. function checkCookie() function setCookie(c_name, value, expiredays) function getCookie(c_name) function increaseFontSize() function decreaseFontSize() The FontSize.js is located at the ~/Jscript/ directory I guess the body on load should contain something like <body onload="/JScript/Fontsize.js/checkCookie()"> Of course nothing works as it should because, i do not know how to make the call to a function to an external js file

  • How to make Visual C++ 9 not emit code that is actually never called?

    - by sharptooth
My native C++ COM component uses ATL. In DllRegisterServer() I call CComModule::RegisterServer(): STDAPI DllRegisterServer() { return _Module.RegisterServer(FALSE); // <<< notice FALSE here } FALSE is passed to indicate to not register the type library. ATL is available as sources, so I in fact compile the implementation of CComModule::RegisterServer(). Somewhere down the call stack there's an if statement: if( doRegisterTypeLibrary ) { //<< FALSE goes here // do some stuff, then call RegisterTypeLib() } The compiler sees all of the above code and so it can see that in fact the if condition is always false, yet when I inspect the linker progress messages I see that the reference to RegisterTypeLib() is still there, so the if statement is not eliminated. Can I make Visual C++ 9 perform better static analysis and actually see that some code is never called and not emit that code?

  • Objective-C and Cocoa : crash when calling a class function without entering the function

    - by Oliver
Hello, I have a class function (declared and implemented) in a class MyUtils : + (NSString*) theFunction:(NSString*)param1 param2:(NSString*)param2 param3:(NSString*)param3; When I call this function, with : NSString *item = [MyUtils theFunction:@"abc" param2:aPreviousNSString param3:@"xyz"; my app crashes. In the debugger I have a breakpoint on the first action of the "theFunction" function. And this breakpoint is never reached. If I replace the call by NSString *item = @"youyou"; then everything is ok. Forcing a retain on aPreviousNSString before the call does not change anything. Do you have an idea of what is happening ? Thanks

  • Call 'script' command and exit it from within a bash script

    - by William Jamieson
I'm using the linux 'script' command http://www.linuxcommand.org/man_pages/script1.html to log all input and output in an interactive bash script. At the moment I have to call the script command, then run my bash script, then exit. I want to run the script and exit commands from within the actual bash script itself. How can I do this? I've tried script -a but that doesn't work for interactive scripts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Suggestions for Scheduled Tasks to call OSQL without hard-coding cleartext password

    - by Ian Boyd
Can anyone think of any techniques where i can have a Windows scheduled task run OSQL, but not have to pass the clear-text password with cleartext password being in the clear? E.g.: >osql -U iboyd -P BabyBatterStapleCorrect Assumption: No Windows Authentication (since it's not an option) i was hoping there was a >OSQL -encryptPassword "BabyBatterStapleCorrect" > > OSQL > Encrypted password: WWVzIGkgd2FudCB0byByYXBlIGJhYmllcy4gQmlnIHdob29wLiBXYW5uYSBmaWdodCBhYm91dCBpdD8= And then i could call OSQL with: >osql -U ian -P WWVzIGkgd2FudCB0byByYXBlIGJhYmllcy4gQmlnIHdob29wLiBXYW5uYSBmaWdodCBhYm91dCBpdD8= But that's not something Microsoft implemented.

  • Text to speech during IPhone call

Is there way to be able to type instead of speak during an iPhone call. For example when you text a landline (in the uk at least) the text message will be converted to speech. I would like to be able to do a similar thing in real time on my iPhone to another mobile. For example it would be useful for a mute person who can not speak to be able to "participate" in phone calls.

  • jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

    - by Nathan
Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. Here's the code I have now. ////Catches the users to keep them from navigation off the page w/o saved changes... window.onbeforeunload = CheckSaveStatus; var IsInitialized; function CheckSaveStatus() { var temp = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "URL.asmx/CheckIfInstanceIsInitilized", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { IsInitialized = result.d; }, error: function(xmlHttpRequest, status, err) { alert(xmlHttpRequest.statusText + " " + xmlHttpRequest.status + " : " + xmlHttpRequest.responseText); } }); if (IsInitialized) { return "You currently have unprocessed changes for this Simulation."; } } I feel that I might be trying to use the Success callback in an inappropriate manner. How do I set a javascript variable on the Success callback so that I can decide whether or not the user should be prompted w/ the unsaved changes message? As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

  • Call OpenFileDialog Silverlight from JavaScript

    - by PeterEysermans
I'm trying to call a function in a Silverlight 4 component to open a file dialog and upload a file to the server. Everything works well within Silverlight but I'd like to call the component from JavaScript. So I call the button click handler from a C#-function which is [ScriptableMember]. I get the following error when calling the function: System.Security.SecurityException: Dialogs must be user-initiated. at System.Windows.Browser.ManagedObjectInfo.Invoke(ManagedObject obj, InvokeType invokeType, String memberName, ScriptParam[] args) at System.Windows.Hosting.ManagedHost.InvokeScriptableMember(IntPtr pHandle, Int32 nMemberID, Int32 nInvokeType, Int32 nArgCount, ScriptParam[] pArgs, ScriptParam& pResult, ExceptionInfo& pExcepInfo) I based my code on the tutorial by Tim Heuer that can be found here: http://www.silverlight.net/learn/videos/silverlight-videos/openfiledialog-and-file-upload/ I understand why the error is thrown, sort of, the 'click' from the user is done in JavaScript and probably is not going through to Silverlight. For Silverlight this is merely a function call. Is this new policy from Silverlight 4? Is it still possible to only use Silverlight behind to screens to upload a file? Any help is appreciated.

  • How do I get a PHP class constructor to call its parent's parent's constructor

    - by Paulo
I need to have a class constructor in PHP call its parent's parent's (grandparent?) constructor without calling the parent constructor. // main class that everything inherits class Grandpa { public function __construct() { } } class Papa extends Grandpa { public function __construct() { // call Grandpa's constructor parent::__construct(); } } class Kiddo extends Papa { public function __construct() { // THIS IS WHERE I NEED TO CALL GRANDPA'S // CONSTRUCTOR AND NOT PAPA'S } } I know this is a bizarre thing to do and I'm attempting to find a means that doesn't smell bad but nonetheless, I'm curious if it's possible. EDIT I thought I should post the rationale for the chosen answer. The reason being; it most elegant solutionto the problem of wanting to call the "grandparent's" constructor while retaining all the values. It's certainly not the best approach nor is it OOP friendly, but that's not what the question was asking. For anyone coming across this question at a later date - Please find another solution. I was able to find a much better approach that didn't wreak havoc on the class structure. So should you.

  • GNU Make: How to call $(wildcard) within $(eval)

    - by bengineerd
I'm trying to create a generic build template for my Makefiles, kind of like they discuss in the eval documentation. I can't seem to get the wildcard function to work within an eval. The basic code I'm having issues with looks like this. SRC_DIR = ./src/ PROG_NAME = test define PROGRAM_template $(1)_SRC_DIR = $(join $(SRC_DIR), $(1)/) $(1)_SRC_FILES = $(wildcard $$($(1)_SRC_DIR)*.c) endef $(eval $(call PROGRAM_template, $(PROG_NAME))) all: @echo $(test_SRC_DIR) @echo $(test_SRC_FILES) @echo $(wildcard $(wildcard $(test_SRC_DIR)*.c) When I run make with this, the output is ./src/test [correct list of all .c files in ./src/test/] Basically, the wildcard call within PROGRAM_template is not being eval'd as I expect it. The call results in an empty list. The join call is being eval'd correctly though. So, what am I doing wrong? My guess is that $$($(1)_SRC_DIR) is not correct, but I can't figure out the right way to do it. EDIT Once this was solved, it didn't take long for me to hit another issue with eval. I posted it as a new question at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2428506/workaround-for-gnu-make-3-80-eval-bug

  • XDEBUG/PHP doesn't dump profile even when set up properly?

    - by John D.
I installed xdebug from source, but also tried my package manager (separately) and they both are loaded correctly (verified by restarting Apache and seeing the xdebug copyright info in phpinfo()) but they do not dump profiling information. Out of the 40 different attempts of configuration it logged once or twice but I lost what I did, I tried with first only loading the module in php.ini with no settings, but it didn't log to /tmp/. I tried many different settings but my current is now: xdebug.profiler_enable = Off xdebug.profiler_enable_trigger = 1 xdebug.profiler_output_dir = "/tmp/" xdebug.profiler_output_name = "profiler.%t" Of course I call my script through 127.0.0.1/test.php?XDEBUG_PROFILE, which is for enable_trigger. Do you know why it would not dump profiler information? nobody (Arch Linux) can write to /tmp/ as it has before, so I'm sure it is not a permissions error. Apache's error_log does not tell me anything about xdebug either, as it has loaded correctly. It just does not "work"! EDIT: I made a subfolder "xdebug_profiles" in /tmp/ and chown'ed it to nobody, and now it works flawlessly. I'm not sure why it couldn't write before, I guess it's just a caveat with nobody on Arch. I answered my own question , not enough points to answer it or comment, so consider this answered.

  • How to pass a reference to a JS function as an argument to an ExternalInterface call?

    - by Ryan Wilson
Summary I want to be able to call a JavaScript function from a Flex app using ExternalInterface and pass a reference to a different JavaScript function as an argument. Base Example Given the following JavaScript: function foo(callback) { // ... do some stuff callback(); } function bar() { // do some stuff that should happen after a call to foo } I want to call foo from my flex app using ExternalInterface and pass a reference to bar as the callback. Why Really, foo is not my function (but, rather, FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog), which due to restrictions on Facebook iframe apps can only be called on a button click. My button, for design reasons, is in the Flex app. Fortunately, it's possible to call ExternalInterface.call("FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", callback) to display the bookmark dialog. But, FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog requires a JS callback so, should I want to receive a callback (which I do), I need to pass a reference to a JS function as the single argument. Real Example MXML: <mx:Button click="showBookmarkDialog();" /> ActionScript: function showBookmarkDialog() : void { ExternalInterface.registerCallback( "onBookmarkDialogClosed", onBookmarkDialogClosed ); ExternalInterface.call( "FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", /* ref to JS function onBookmarkDialogClosed ? */ ); } function onBookmarkDialogClosed(success:Boolean) : void { // sweet, we made it back } JavaScript: function onBookmarkDialogClosed() { var success; // determine value of success getSWF().onBookmarkDialogClosed(success); } Failed Experiments I have tried... ExternalInterface.call( "FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", "onBookmarkDialogClosed" ); ExternalInterface.call( "FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", onBookmarkDialogClosed ); ExternalInterface.call( "FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", function() : void { ExternalInterface.call("onBookmarkDialogClosed"); } ); ExternalInterface.call( "FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", function() { this["onBookmarkDialogClosed"](); } ); Of note: Passing a string as the argument to an ExternalInterface call results in FB's JS basically trying to do `"onBookmarkDialogClosed"()` which, needless to say, will not work. Passing a function as the argument results in a function object on the other side (confirmable with `typeof`), but it seems to be an empty function; namely, `function Function() {}`

  • Call dll - pcshll32.dll using delphi

    - by Davis
Hi, I need to call hllapi function of pcshll32.dll using delphi. It's works with personal communications of ibm. How can i change the code bellow to delphi ? Thanks !!! The EHLLAPI entry point (hllapi) is always called with the following four parameters: EHLLAPI Function Number (input) Data Buffer (input/output) Buffer Length (input/output) Presentation Space Position (input); Return Code (output) The prototype for IBM Standard EHLLAPI is: [long hllapi (LPWORD, LPSTR, LPWORD, LPWORD); The prototype for IBM Enhanced EHLLAPI is: [long hllapi (LPINT, LPSTR, LPINT, LPINT); Each parameter is passed by reference not by value. Thus each parameter to the function call must be a pointer to the value, not the value itself. For example, the following is a correct example of calling the EHLLAPI Query Session Status function: #include "hapi_c.h" struct HLDQuerySessionStatus QueryData; int Func, Len, Rc; long Rc; memset(QueryData, 0, sizeof(QueryData)); // Init buffer QueryData.qsst_shortname = ©A©; // Session to query Func = HA_QUERY_SESSION_STATUS; // Function number Len = sizeof(QueryData); // Len of buffer Rc = 0; // Unused on input hllapi(&Func, (char *)&QueryData, &Len, &Rc); // Call EHLLAPI if (Rc != 0) { // Check return code // ...Error handling } All the parameters in the hllapi call are pointers and the return code of the EHLLAPI function is returned in the value of the 4th parameter, not as the value of the function.

  • Rhino Mocks - Fluent Mocking - Expect.Call question

    - by Ben Cawley
Hi, I'm trying to use the fluent mocking style of Rhino.Mocks and have the following code that works on a mock IDictionary object called 'factories': With.Mocks(_Repository).Expecting(() => { Expect.Call(() => factories.ContainsKey(Arg<String>.Is.Anything)); LastCall.Return(false); Expect.Call(() => factories.Add(Arg<String>.Is.Anything, Arg<Object>.Is.Anything)); }).Verify(() => { _Service = new ObjectRequestService(factories); _Service.RegisterObjectFactory(Valid_Factory_Key, factory); }); Now, the only way I have been able to set the return value of the ContainsKey call is to use LastCall.Return(true) on the following line. I'm sure I'm mixing styles here as Expect.Call() has a .Return(Expect.Action) method but I can't figure out how I am suppose to use it correctly to return a boolean value? Can anyone help out? Hope the question is clear enough - let me know if anyone needs more info! Cheers, Ben

  • call lynx from jsp script

    - by Piero
    Hi, I have an execute(String cmd) in a jsp script that calls the exec method from the Runtime class. It works when I call a local command, like a php script stored on the server. for example: /usr/bin/php /path/to/php/script arg1 arg2 So I guess my execute command is ok, since it is working with that. Now when I try to call lynx, the text-based web browser, it does not work. If I call it in a terminal, it works fine: /usr/bin/lynx -dump -accept_all_cookies 'http://www.someurl.net/?arg1=1&arg2=2' But when I call this from my execute command, nothing happens... Any idea why? This is my execute method: public String execute(String cmd){ Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime(); Process p = null; String res = ""; try { p = r.exec(cmd); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr); String line = null; //out.println(res); while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { res += line; } p.waitFor(); } catch (Exception e) { res += e; } System.out.println(p.exitValue()); return res; }

I fired up a Web Site in IIS to host the Services (i.e., address is http://services:1000/wcfservices.svc). Then in my Web Site project I added the reference. I am able to call the services normally. I am needed to call some of the services client side. Not sure if I should be looking at articles calling WCF services through AJAX, JQuery, or JSON enabled WCF Services. Can anyone provide any thoughts or experience with configuring as such? Some of the changes I made was adding the following to the Operation Contract: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "SetFoo")] void SetFoo(string Id); Then this above the implementation of the interface: [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] Then in the service webconfig I have this (parens are angle brackets): <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true"> <baseAddressPrefixFilters> <add prefix="http://services:1000/wcfservices.svc/"/>> </baseAddressPrefixFilters> </serviceHostingEnvironment> <serviceHostingEnvironment multipleSiteBindingsEnabled="false" /> Then in the client side I attempted this: <asp:ScriptManagerProxy ID="ScriptManagerProxy1" runat="server"> <compositeScript> <Scripts> <asp:ScriptReference Path="http://Flixsit:1000/FlixsitWebServices.svc" /> </Scripts> </CompositeScript> </asp:ScriptManagerProxy> I am attempting to call the service like this in javascript: wcfservices.SetFoo(string Id); Nothing is working. If it is idea or a better solution to call JSON enable, JQuery, etc....I am willing to make any changes. Thanks for any suggestions/tips provided....
