• Two HTML elements with same id attribute: How bad is it really?

  Just browsing the google maps source code. In their header, they have 2 divs with id="search" one contains the other, and also has jstrack="1" attribute. There is a form separating them like so: <div id="search" jstrack="1"> <form action="/maps" id="...rest isn't important"> ... <div id="search">... Since this is google, I'm assuming it's not a mistake. So how bad can it really be to violate this rule? As long as you are careful in your css and dom selection, why not reuse id's like classes? Does anyone do this on purpose, and if so, why?

  OK so I have two tables, MEDIA and BUSINESS. I want it set up so the forms to input into them are on the same page. MEDIA has a row that is biz_id that is the id of BUSINESS. So MEDIA is really a part of BUSINESS. HOW do I insert/add these into their tables without a common ID because I haven't yet made the record for business? I'm sorry I didn't really word this very much... You might need more clarification to answer properly and I'll be glad to give any more info. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The document resource/values/strings.xml created for this ID: <string name="button1name"> CID </ string> But the document GurovPictures.java (this is my main activity) when I insert a line: Button but1 = (Button) findViewById (R.id.button1); This "button1" does not become blue like "editText1". Do you happen to know how to fix it? Just the internet no entries found.

  Hi , I am trying to configure a GPS device to my systems. The GPS device send the data packet to my IP in the following format : $$?W??¬ÿÿÿÿ™U042903.000,A,2839.6408,N,07717.0905,E,0.00,,230111,,,A*7C|1.2|203|0000÷ I am able to extract the latitude, longitude and other information but I am not able to extract the Tracker ID out of the string. According to the manual the ID is in hex format.And the format of the packet is $$\r\n I dont know what to do with it, I have tried converting this to hex..but it didnt work. • MGTwitterEngine - Using getImageAtURL on iPhone

  Essentially, I'm working on asynchronously downloading images and adding them to specific UITableView cells (twitter profile images using MGTwitterEngine from Matt Gemmell). I've looked at general asynchronous download code and must admit, I'm still too much of a noob to understand it well enough to adapt it to my purposes. Instead, I'm attempting to use Gemmell's included getImageAtUrl method to add the images. I have it working to the point that -imageReceived: receives the images for visible cells, however, I'm stuck as to how to include them into the appropriate cells at that point. - (void)imageReceived:(UIImage *)image forRequest:(NSString *)identifier { NSLog(@"Got an image:%@",image); // What goes here? Or elsewhere? } This method is within my main view controller, I also have a custom cell controller where I'm drawing the cell content using Loren Brichter's fast scrolling code. Any help with this MGTwitterEngine method in particular, or with dynamically adding these images to my table cells would be greatly appreciated.

Everything worked as advertised, which has not been my experience with a lot of Facebook and Twitter sample code that I have been working with recently. What I am trying to figure out is: How do I tweet using this library? I am currently planning to implement this in ASP MVC, but my initial thoughts is that the presentation platform doesn't matter all that much at the level I'm looking at.

  Hi, My app offers a "share/tell-a-friend" function. When the "share" button is pressed the following method is being called to open a list of apps, which can perform the action (Eg. But when the sharing app (Facebook, Twitter, ...) tries to return to my app, a force close is thrown. I guess that my app gets closed in the background during the sharing process... at least that is what the debugger sais... Any ideas?

• How can I make the boostrap js carousel automatically cycle as soon as the page loads?

  Using bootstrap.js version 2.02 I'm trying to get the Twitter Bootstrap Carousel to automatically cycle as soon as someone visits my site. Right now, the auto cycling works only after you click one of the cycle buttons at least once. I want the carousel to begin cycling at the interval right away. Does anyone know how to do this? My site is hotairraccoon.com You'll see how after you click the carousel once, it begins to cycle every 5 seconds or so, but I don't want the click to be required to reveal carousel content. Thanks!

• Why exactly is server side HTML rendering faster than client side?

  I am working on a large web site, and we're moving a lot of functionality to the client side (Require.js, Backbone and Handlebars stack). There are even discussions about possibly moving all rendering to the client side. But reading some articles, especially ones about Twitter moving away from client side rendering, which mention that server side is faster / more reliable, I begin to have questions. I don't understand how rendering fairly simple HTML widgets in JS from JSON and templates is a contemporary browser on a dual core CPU with 4-8 GB RAM is any slower than making dozens of includes in your server side app. Are there any actual real life benchmarking figures regarding this? Also, it seems like parsing HTML templates by server side templating engines can't be any faster than rendering same HTML code from a Handlebars template, especially if this is a precomp JS function?

  I have looked through the API's of facebook and twitter but i cannot seem to find the answer to my question. On websites like http://punchfork.com/recipe/Porkitos-Crispy-Prosciutto-Chips-Nom-Nom-Paleo On the right hand side they have the social stats page with information such as Tweets, Facebook Shares and Stumbleupons. My question is how do they record or gather these results? Is it a case of they have a button that records it in their database then sends you to the page to tweet/share/stumble? But surely that couldn't be accurate as people might not continue to fill out the action.

  I'm using the Twitter API streaming to collect thousand of tweets every minute. They need to be matched to a list of keywords (can contain spaces). This is my current method: $text = preg_replace( '/[^a-z0-9]+/i', ' ', strtolower( $data['text'] ) ); $breakout = explode( " ", $text ); $result = array_intersect( $this->_currentTracks, $breakout ); I chop the tweet into words, and the matches them against my current keywords. This works well for all the keywords without a space ofc. If I wanted to find for example "Den Haag", It won't show up, because the string is exploded into words (based on the spaces). There are some numbers on the back side of the cd in the inner ring. i cant for the life of me figure out how what is the use of the genuine cd i have with me when i cant seem to activate it. what exactly is the advantage of having the original cd in your possession in situations like this?. i have tried the unattend.txt and it doesnt contain the correct key. and there does not exist any winnnt.sif file in the cd. where on the cd or in it can i find the product id information i stay in india . and my attempts at trying the microsoft support site keeps getting me directed to page which says they had stopped support for windows xp in 2011. lets say by some miracle i do contact microsoft. what information would i have to provide them? and would they be giving me the product key for my cd key from their database? or a new key?
