  • Linux: How to allow group members to set/change permissions on a file

    I thought I had a good understanding of how permissions worked on linux. I have folder where it and everything inside has the owner "me" and the group "group". I gave the group rwx access on all the files and still members of the group cannot modify permissions on any files. I'm using Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 Is it possible to allow group members to modify permissions on file and not just the owner? How? Thanks in advance

  • SQL Server 2012 Backups Not Compressing

    We recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008R2 to SQL Server 2012 Enterprise. After doing this I noticed that our DB backups were barely compressing at all. Our 22gb DB was compressing down to about 4gb before upgrading to 2012 and after the upgrade our 22gb DB is only compressing down to 19gb. I've checked and double checked the compression setting on the server and all of my backup jobs and compression is turned on. Any ideas on what may be going on?

    I've read all the available documentation, the Mastering OpenLDAP book, and like a zillion mail-list posts but I haven't found a way to make such scenario possible. I see several use cases for this scenario like an enterprise application syncing all users from the main LDAP of the Org but keeping it's own application related schemas and objects in its server. So please, could you point me in the right direction or help me discard the possibility at all?

OS : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 Symptom: After the copy process is successful, doing an integrity check with gunzip -t and the process get the following error: gunzip -t Backup-28--Jun--2011--Tuesday.tar.gz gunzip: Backup-28--Jun--2011--Tuesday.tar.gz: invalid compressed data--format violated And further tried to untar (tar -xvzf) and the process as well is failed.

    Windows 8 setup asks for the product key at the beginning of the setup without letting you install it. I got the Windows 8 ISO from MSDN but I didn't get enough keys to install it on all my 7 computers. Also, my MSDN subscription level doesn't allow me to get the VL product key to Windows 8 Enterprise. Is there any way I can install Windows 8 for a limited time period like we used to do for Windows 7 ?

  • Nvidia SLI Disabled on Windows 8. I installed thte Nvidia Windows 8 drivers

    Details I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Enterprise trial. After installing, I downloaded the Nvidia Windows 8 x64 install package, and it installed fine. After rebooting I got a message stating that SLI was disabled. And in the configuration menu the option to enable SLI is grayed out. I have confirmed the SLI is connected properly. Any thoughts? I've tried to get side-loading to work without having a developer license but I can't. Looking over some things on the internet seems to indicate that you need "a side-loading product key".     I'm running a Java application with an Oracle 10g. I've discovered kind of a race condition that leads to an inifite long waiting time for an UPDATE statement. To solve this situation I'd like to find out what this statement is waiting for (locks on certain tables caused by statement xy etc.). I tried to use the Oracle Enterprise Manager which has found this situation as well but it doesn't tell my the reason for the wait.

    I am using Windows 8 Enterprise edition. Bluetooth is not detected by the OS and drivers. I tried to install Windows 7 bluetooth drivers, but it says no bluetooth device is detected. If I change to Windows 7 without any driver, bluetooth is working. This issue exists in developer preview, consumer preview and release preview. I don't know how to turn on bluetooth. System Config : 3Gp ram, Core2Duo processor.

  • MVC2 EditorTemplate for DropDownList

    I've spent the majority of the past week knee deep in the new templating functionality baked into MVC2. I had a hard time trying to get a DropDownList template working. The biggest problem I've been working to solve is how to get the source data for the drop down list to the template. I saw a lot of examples where you can put the source data in the ViewData dictionary (ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"]) then retrieve them in the template itself (var sourceValues = ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"];) This works, but I did not like having a silly string as the lynch pin for making this work. Below is an approach I've come up with and wanted to get opinions on this approach: here are my design goals: The view model should contain the source data for the drop down list Limit Silly Strings Not use ViewData dictionary Controller is responsible for filling the property with the source data for the drop down list Here's my View Model: public class CustomerViewModel { [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public String CustomerCode{ get; set; } [UIHint("DropDownList")] [DropDownList(DropDownListTargetProperty = "CustomerCode"] [DisplayName("Customer Code")] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CustomerCodeList { get; set; } public String FirstName { get; set; } public String LastName { get; set; } public String PhoneNumber { get; set; } public String Address1 { get; set; } public String Address2 { get; set; } public String City { get; set; } public String State { get; set; } public String Zip { get; set; } } My View Model has a CustomerCode property which is a value that the user selects from a list of values. I have a CustomerCodeList property that is a list of possible CustomerCode values and is the source for a drop down list. I've created a DropDownList attribute with a DropDownListTargetProperty. DropDownListTargetProperty points to the property which will be populated based on the user selection from the generated drop down (in this case, the CustomerCode property). Notice that the CustomerCode property has [ScaffoldColumn(false)] which forces the generator to skip the field in the generated output. My DropDownList.ascx file will generate a dropdown list form element with the source data from the CustomerCodeList property. The generated dropdown list will use the value of the DropDownListTargetProperty from the DropDownList attribute as the Id and the Name attributes of the Select form element. So the generated code will look like this: <select id="CustomerCode" name="CustomerCode"> <option>... </select> This works out great because when the form is submitted, MVC will populate the target property with the selected value from the drop down list because the name of the generated dropdown list IS the target property. I kinda visualize it as the CustomerCodeList property is an extension of sorts of the CustomerCode property. I've coupled the source data to the property. NOTE: you have to override the CreateMetadata method of the DataAnnotationsModelMetadataProvider for the DropDownListAttribute.   • Hibernate session problem for transactions.

    Hi all, I am new to hibernate and trying integrate hibernate with an existing spring based application. I configured session factory and transaction manager, transaction proxy template. I am also using Quartz scheduler in this application. When I run the application, I am getting the following exception.   • Hibernate Query Language Problem

    Well, I have implemented a distinct query in hibernate. It returns me result. But, while casting the fields are getting interchanged. So, it generates casting error. What should be the solution? As an example, I do have database, "ProjectAssignment" that has three fields, aid, pid & userName. I want all distinct userName data from this table. I have applied query : select distinct userName, aid, pid from ProjectAssignment Whereas the ProjectAssignment.java file has the fields in sequence aid, pid & userName. Now, here the userName is first field in output. So, Casting is not getting possible. Also, query : select aid, pid, distinct userName from ProjectAssignment is not working. What is the proper query for the same ? Or what else the solution ?   • Converting LDAP from Tomcat to GlassFish

    Hi, I have a simple web-app that is developed in Netbeans(6.8) and works fine in Tomcat(6) using LDAP(Active Directory). I need to convert this to an EE (JSF2), so I am moving from Tomcat to GlassFish(v3). I have changed the web files to xhtml and configured the xml files. However, I cannot get the GlassFish LDAP configuration to authenticate. I am attaching my old web.xml and server.xml (from Tomcat) snippets and the portions of the new web.xml, sun-web.xml, and the GlassFish configuration. If anyone can help me figure out where I am missing the piece that will allow a user to be authenticated, I would appreciate it. (btw, I am not using roles, just authenticating against the LDAP db is good enought.) As it is right now, my app will prompt me to enter a user when I try to access a file in the 'protected' area and the GlassFish server throws an exception when it fails to authenticate. Because it works under Tomcat, I know I have the right information, I just don't know how to format it to get GlassFish to pass it along. Thanks.
