• Override ~ behaviour in controls

  Quick backstory: I'm making a "framed" version of my site that has a different master page than normal (one suitable for iframing). It's accessed by mysite.com/Framed/whatever, instead of mysite.com/whatever. This is rewritten in IIS to mysite.com/whatever?framed=true. That works fine. The issue I'm having is that all the links are relative using a ~ like ~/Server.aspx which works fine in the normal site. I need to override that so instead of producing ../Server.aspx (as it "should") it produces ../Framed/Server.aspx or Server.aspx. Currently this means that the page goes back to it's normal view (mystite.com/whatever2) as soon as you click on a link, I want it to continue to stay in mysite.com/Framed/...

• asp.net: Is it possible to have multiple login forms to access different subfolders?

  Hi, Is it possible to have multiple login pages for different folders within an asp.net application? Say I have this structure: /admin /customer /login-admin.aspx /login-customer.aspx I have 2 different login forms. One for the admin people and one for the customers (the forms are different as the customers need to provide extra information on their login page). In the authentication section of the webconfig file (which is at the root of the web app), I can only specify one Login page. So how can I make sure thaf if anyone tries to access a webpage in /admin they will be redirected to /login-admin.aspx and if they try to access a webpage in /customer they will be redirected to /login-customer.aspx ? • Any thoughts on A/B testing in Django based project?

  We just now started doing the A/B testing for our Django based project. Can I get some information on best practices or useful insights about this A/B testing. Ideally each new testing page will be differentiated with a single parameter(just like Gmail). mysite.com/?ui=2 should give a different page. So for every view I need to write a decorator to load different templates based on the 'ui' parameter value. And I dont want to hard code any template names in decorators. So how would urls.py url pattern will be?

• JavaScript distributed computing project

  I made a website that does absolutely nothing, and I've proven to myself that people like to stay there - I've already logged 11+ hours worth of cumulative time on the page. My question is whether it would be possible (or practical) to use the website as a distributed computing site. My first impulse was to find out if there were any JavaScript distributed computing projects already active, so that I could put a piece of code on the page and be done. Unfortunately, all I could find was a big list of websites that thought it might be a cool idea. I'm thinking that I might want to start with something like integer factorization - in this case, RSA numbers. It would be easy for the server to check if an answer was correct (simply test for modulus equals zero), and also easy to implement. Is my idea feasible? Is there already a project out there that I can use?

• BlogEngine - Mangling of HTML Anchor Links in TinyMCE Editor

  When I create the following link: <a href="~/Contact.aspx" runat="server">Contact us</a> The editor strips out the runat attribute, breaking the link. It's also inserting "/page" into the URL which I do not want to happen. Is there some editor setting to prevent this from happening? I've checked here and couldn't find an answer. UPDATE I've added the following to tinyMCE.acsx to allow the addition of the runat attribute to anchor links: tinyMCE.init({ ... extended_valid_elements : "a[href|runat=server]" ... }); This solves the problem with the runat attribute being stripped out. My only remaining problem is the automatic insertion of "page" in the URL. Anybody?

  I am having a site and I want to add a button in my site that will link to the twitter login page and after login it will post a message to the Twitter home page of the user. I used this code: http://www.matpal.com/2010/12/oauth-access-token-in-twitter-api.html and it works fine. My problem is that before posting the message I want to be able to edit it. So after login I want to see my message in an editing input (like retween do,here: http://www.mobilemarketer.com/cms/news/search/10263.html ) and post it after clicking Tweet. • How to set document.domain for a dynamically generated IFRAME?

  I am implementing CodeMirror (http://marijn.haverbeke.nl/codemirror/) on a page where document.domain needs to be declared (because of other IFRAMES on the page). CodeMirror generates a dynamic IFRAME to provide syntax highlighted code editing. The problem is that IE throws up 'Access Denied' (other browsers are fine) at the following piece of code mirror code: this.win = frame.contentWindow; ... var doc = this.win.document; <-- ERROR doc.open(); doc.write(html.join("")); doc.close(); It turns out IE doesn't inherit document.domain from parent IE. I can set document.domain in the IFRAME contents but IE throws up the error before I can even set the contents. Any ideas how to tackle this problem?

• Use anchor to display div

  I'm using jquery, and need to accomplish a couple things. 1) When someone clicks on a link (or in my case, a div) to display another div, I'd like to add an anchor to the url. So, if someone clicks on a "Live" link, the 'live' div slides down, and we append #live to the url. 2) If someone visits that page and keeps the #live anchor at the end of the url, then the 'live' div should be visible right away. I know how to handle the basic part of slideDown() if someone clicks a div. I don't know how to append the hashtag, or make it so that when the page is loaded that hashtag is checked and displays the respective div. Any help understanding this would be appreciated.   I have a list within Sharepoint, using a custom new form i have added a custom list form control ("New item form" for the list) and changed the SaveButton to a standard input HTML button, and added an 'onclick' event that is as follows: onclick="javascript: {ddwrt:GenFireServerEvent('__commit;__redirect={NewFormWizard2.aspx?id=}')}" this works as in saves the data and redirects to the NewFormWizard2.aspx?id= page. the question is how do i get the ID of the created item to be passed to the redirected page? thus once the form is completed it would redirect to NewFormWizard2.aspx?id=23 Thanks in advanced.

• Maintaining session across relay domain?

  I'm building a payment page in asp.net, however the page where you order your items is run in HTTP (non-secure) on my domain. When redirecting the user to the payment site, I have to go through a different domain (my payment provider, from whom I borrow the SSL certificate), so my payment url ends up like https://www.paymentprovider.com/somescript.cgi/www.mydomain.com/mypaymentpage.aspx Now the problem is my session is lost, but I store the order in session, so I desperately needs it. Can I somehow send the SessionID in querystring, and restore the session from it - or do I need to stuff the entire order into querystring ? (Not too certain it'll fit though, it's rather long) Any help will be highly appreciated :-)

• Unregistering a COM wrapped .NET assembly

  I created a COM exposed .NET 2.0 dll and registered with my windows operating system using 'regasm' and 'gacutil' (in GAC). Then I tried to call this component from my classic ASP page. It worked fine. But, I need to change the functionality of my assembly. I unregistered it again using 'regasm' and 'gacutil' (from GAC) utilities and copied my new .NET DLL and registered again (This time using a new version of the DLL). For some reason, i still have a pointer to my old assembly and new calls to the DLL from ASP page are not working. Any Ideas on what process i need to follow to ensure that all the references to the old version are completely removed? I appreciate any help.

  Here is my use case I have a search model with two actions search_set and search_show. 1 - A user loads the home page which contains a search_form, rendered via a partial (search_form). 2 - User does a search, and the request goes to search_set, the search is saved and a redirect happens to search_show page which again renders the search_form with the saved search preferences. This search form is different than the one if step1, because it's a remote form being submitted to the same action (search set) 3 - Now the user does another search, and the search form is submitted via ajax to the search_set action. The search is saved and executed and now I need to present the result via rjs templates (corresponding to search_show). I am told that if the request is xhr then I can't redirect to the search_show action? Is that right? If yes, how do I handle this? Here is my controller class http://pastie.org/993460 Thanks

• How do I properly load the jQuery fullcalendar plugin in a hidden div

  I'm using the jQuery tools tabs to divide my page into tabs. One of those tabs contain a jQuery Fullcalendar. Because I load JavaScript last in the page for speed and to avoid flash of unstyled content, I hide the initially unseen tabs using display:none. When doing this, the fullcalendar doesn't render properly. It shows the proper buttons, but until I press the today-button, no calendar is shown. If I allow it to render into a visible div, it displays properly. I can work around this using the tab-select events to render the calendar or by moving the calendar and tab scripts to the head, but I'd rather if there was a more proper solution.

Id like to do this in an iframe so that it dosent effect the main page form. Id like to know if there are any drawbacks to this method and if i should load the iframe into the page at startup or output the iframe via an ajax routine.

  Hi all, I have this question concerning REST I think: I have read a few rest tutorials and the feeling I get from them is that each action in a restful controller tends to be lean and almost single purpose: "Index gives off a collection of a model show gives off one model edit/new a prep place for changing/create a model update/create changes and makes new model deletes removes one model" After reading all these tutorials, rest seems to be to be a means to create an interface for a model, much like active resource type of thing. the mantra seems to be "controller provides data and data only and is also pretty convention over configuration, so expect projects_path to return a bunch of projects" I can understand that, and I like the cleanliness. But here's when I run into some trouble in reality in applying these guidelines: say three models, Project with attrib title, User with attrib name, and Location with attrib address. Say in views/users/index.html.erb, I want to use Ajax to fetch and display a project in a div#project_display when the user clicks on a project element, I know that I can use views/projects/show.js.rjs like this: page.replace_html 'project_display' "#{@project.name}" where in the projects_controller.rb def show @project = Project.find(params[:id]) repsond_to do |format| format.js and other formats... end end I have no problem in doing that for a couple of years now. BUT doesn't that mean that my JS response for the project#show action is LOCkED to present data to div#project_display element and show only whatever I that rjs template says it should show? That's very limiting and doesn't sound very "interface" like. I have never used JSON before or much XML, so I thought, maybe the JS response should send back raw stuff, like JSON and somehow the page on which the ajax request was called has the instruction on what do to with these raw data. That sounds a lot more flexible, doesn't it? Because look back at that exmpale, what if in the views/locations/index.html.erb, I want to do the exact same thing except I want to put the response in div#project_goes_here and the response should be #{project.name} I know this is a trivial change but that's the point: the RJS only allows one template at a time. So I think the JSON route is the way to go, but how does the already loaded page, the one that the ajax call came from, know when or how to "look forward" to incoming data? I read that PrototypeJS has this template thing, I wouldn't mind using it with JSON, but if you can demonstrate this or other means for displaying received-from-ajax data, I am all attention.   When I try to validate a certain page I get the below error: Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 136 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication. The error was: utf8 "\xFF" does not map to Unicode What exactly does this mean and how can I find out what character is causing the problem? The page is generated dynamically in PHP and a bit large and I am not sure what to look for.

  I have a strange one here, I know there is a issue with airspace and transparency when opening up a web browser control within a WPF application. But in my instance I do not need transparency or opacity etc but the web pages are opening up with a strange overlay across them rather then showing solid colors? I have a WPF application that has a Grid and within the Grid there is a Frame and the frame source is a normal website url which is showing strange colors, as if there is a transparency/opacity issue going on? when I view the web page in a normal browser the page displays fine?

I tried many solutions and even jsp:inculde doesnt help:(...

• abandon session in asp.net on browser close..kill session cookie

  So I have a website where I use session start and end events to track and limit open instances of our web application, even on the same computer. On page unload i call a session enabled page method which then called session.abandon. This triggers session end event and clears the session variable but unfortunately does not kill the session cookie!! as a result if other browser instances are open there are problems because their session state just disappeared...and much worse than this when I open the site again with the zombie session still not expired, I get multiple session start and session end events on any subsequent postbacks. This happens on all browsers. so how do I truly kill the session (force the cookie to expire)

• How can I call model methods or properties from Django Admin?

  Is there a natural way to display model methods or properties in the Django admin site? In my case I have base statistics for a character that are part of the model, but other things such as status effects which affect the total calculation for that statistic: class Character(models.Model): base_dexterity = models.IntegerField(default=0) @property def dexterity(stat_name): total = self.base_dexterity total += sum(s.dexterity for s in self.status.all()]) return total It would be nice if I could display the total calculated statistic alongside the field to change the base statistic in the Change Character admin page, but it is not clear to me how to incorporate that information into the page.
