• Unresolved External Symbol

  I am working on wrapping a large number of .h and .lib files from native C++ to Managed C++ for eventual use as a referenced .dll in C#. I have the .lib files linked in and everything has been going smoothly so far. Upon wrapping the latest .h file, I hit a snag when 2 functions came back with the link error: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__htonl@4 referenced in function "public: void __thiscall Field::setCharacter(unsigned char,int)" (?setCharacter@Field@@QAEXEH@Z) myutils.lib I have referenced "myutils.lib" in the linker options, so that shouldn't be the issue. What's strange is that I have about 20 functions in this particular .h file and all of the rest are linking just fine except for 3 functions. Any ideas?

  Hello, i'm trying to set global shortcut for my applcation using QxtGlobalShortcut. What should i do? EDIT: There was a bug in Qxt-lib 0.5 with shortcut. I spoke with developer and knew that i just need to update library from dev-branch (0.5.1 is worked).

• Swing invokeLater never shows up, invokeAndWait throws error. What can I do?

  I have this code: try { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { try { dialog.handleDownload(); } catch (IOException io) { io.printStackTrace(); } } }); } catch(Exception io) { io.printStackTrace(); } in the handleDownload I'm reading an inputstream, calculating a progress bar's value, and setting it to that. So, when I click a button, a new JFrame opens up and does all the stuff I wrote above. If I have the dialog.handleDownload by itself ( in no SwingUtilities method ), it freezes until the operation is finished. If I add it in a invokeLater it's closed very fast ( I can't see anything, and the operation is not finished ). If I add it in a invokeAndWait I get the invokeAndWait cannot be called from the event dispatcher thread error. What should I do?

  I am using objective-C++ (+Boost) for iPhone development. I am in a rather tight loop and need to allocate and release a certain object. The code is something like this. for (int i=0;i<100;i++) { opt = [[FObj alloc] init]; //do stuff with opt [opt release]; } The FObj object is something like @interface FObj MyCPPObj * cppobj; @end In the implementation of FObj there is a dealloc method: -(void) dealloc { delete cppobj; //previously allocated with 'new' [super dealloc]; } I am afraid that if i don't release then the 'MyCPPObj's will just pile up. But releasing makes the app crash after the first loop. What am I doing wrong? Or perhaps should I make cppobj and boost::shared_ptr? (do boost shared pointers automatically release their objects when an objective-C++ object is deleted?)

  It is not possible to fire an event in C# that has no handlers attached to it. So before each call it is necessary to check if the event is null. if ( MyEvent != null ) { MyEvent( param1, param2 ); } I would like to keep my code as clean as possible and get rid of those null checks. I don't think it will affect performance very much, at least not in my case. MyEvent( param1, param2 ); Right now I solve this by adding an empty inline handler to each event manually. This is error prone, since I need to remember to do that etc. void Initialize() { MyEvent += new MyEvent( (p1,p2) => { } ); } Is there a way to generate empty handlers for all events of a given class automatically using reflection and some CLR magic?

  We've got an interface we've defined in C++ (abstract class, all functions pure virtual) which will be extended in Python. To overcome the cross-language polymorphism issues we're planning on using SWIG directors. I've read how to catch exceptions thrown from C++ code in our Python code here, here, here, and even on SO. It's fairly straight forward and I'm not expecting issues with handling our library's own exceptions. What I'd like to know and can't seem to find in the documentation is how to have our Python implementation of the extended C++ interface throw those C++ exceptions in a way that makes them visible to the C++ code. We could make small functions within the *.i files such that each function throws our exceptions: void throw_myException(){ throw MyException; } but I'm wondering how it will interact with the Python code. Anyone have any experience with throwing C++ exceptions from Python code?

  Question: In Flash I have the below function. Now the problem is SaveFurniture, SavePolygons and SaveComments all save to the same XML file. Now SaveFurniture sends JSON encoded data to a ashx handler, which saves it in the xml on the server.   What I am trying to do is load in objects from an XML save file. The problem is those objects are configurable by the user at runtime, meaning i had to use reflection to get the names and attributes of those objects stored in an XML file. I am in the middle of a recursive loop through the XML and up to the part where I need to create an object then thought ..... ah - no idea how to do that :( I have an array stuffed with empty objects (m_MenuDataTypes), one of each possible type. My recursive loading function looks like this private void LoadMenuData(XmlNode menuDataNode) { foreach (object menuDataObject in m_MenuDataTypes) { Type menuDataObjectType = menuDataObject.GetType(); if (menuDataObjectType.Name == menuDataNode.Name) { //create object } } } I need to put some code where my comment is but I can't have a big switch statement or anything.   For my Google Wave robot, on the onDocumentChanged event I want to apply a filter as follows: @Capability(filter = FILTER) @Override public void onDocumentChanged(DocumentChangedEvent event) { ... } I want the filter to be generated the first time the robot is run, which I'm trying to do as follows: private static final String FILTER = generateFilter(); private static final String generateFilter(){ ... } However, it complains FILTER isn't a constant expression when used within @Capability. generateFilter() will return the same string every time it is called, I'm only using it to create the string so that when I make changes, I don't need to worry about updating the filter. Now I could be going about this all wrong, so wondered if anyone knew what I'm doing wrong, or knew a better way in which I could generate a constant expression from the function.
