  I would like to work with unique combinations of var1 and var2. foo <- data.frame(var1= c(1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4), var2=c(1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3)) As has been noted (+1 for answers), unique(foo) results in this: var1 var2 1 1 1 2 2 1 3 2 2 4 3 1 5 3 2 6 4 2 7 4 3 Based on the unique combinations, how do I get the number of occurrences of a var1 value and the sum (bla) of each var1 value's var2 values. • Visual Studio Debugging Issue

  Seeing an issue when debugging in Visual Studio. All of the values under watch, and in the hover over window show up incorrectly. the only values that show properly, are values that are local to the method I am currently stepping through. For example the watch value for 'this' when debugging shows the following under value 0x00000000ffac0388 { btnBack=0x00000000ffaccf20 btnReply=0x00000000ffacd200 btnForward=0x00000000ffacd420...} some other variables show this, even though the variable is there. error: 'this.foo' does not exist The machine recently had windows 7 64 installed, since then this problem has occured. Visual studio has been reinstalled on this machine, and we verified that the settings in visual studio were exactly the same as a different PC that is the same machine and config.

• Is "DSLAM congestion" a legitimate reason for slow DSL?

  My DSL has been extremely slow in the evenings recently. To test it, I telnet to my DSL Modem, and ping the gateway. This way I eliminate internet congestion and local network issues. In the mornings I get 30ms - 50ms pings. In the evenings, it bounces around a lot, but 10000ms pings are common. I complained to Qwest support, and they said it was a known issue on their end, their engineers were working on it, and wouldn't say anything else. A couple days later I complained again, and they sent out a technician. He tested my house wiring and found that one of them had a short. It was an unused line, so we disconnected it, and he said things looked better and left. My daytime speeds improved at this point, but evening is still bad. I complained to Qwest support again, and they said it was a problem with DSLAM congestion at their end, and that they were working on it, but no ETA. My neighbor has Qwest DSL and doesn't seem to have these problems. That seems strange. I go use her network when I absolutely must get online and mine is behaving badly. I can't tell if they're yanking my chain or not. Regardless, these speeds are crap. I'm paying for 7Mpbs but am lucky if I get 1/10th that in the evenings. My kids like to watch Netflix streaming movies, and it's just impossible after 5pm or so. Should I wait it out? Will complaining again produce any results? Should I change my subscription to a lower speed until they fix their end? Or switch to cable?

• Why is Apache seg faulting?

  We have a production server that seems to Seg Fault a few times every day. The fault is picked up by Apache and logged in the error log - but there seems to be no traffic around the time. If it's a request generating the fault then it looks like it happens before any other logging is made so I can't see how it's happening so it's very hard to debug. • Getting Grub2 to recognize a Raid 10 boot/root

  I've been trying to get my raid to boot from grub2 for about 2 days now and I don't seem to be getting closer. The problem appears to be that it doesn't recognize my raid at all. It doesn't see (md0) etc. I'm not sure Why or how to change this. I'm using mdadm, 2 device (essentially a raid1) raid10,f2, which is currently degraded. I have tried adding the raid and mdraid modules with grub install along with others. I've tried several variation on grub-install such as grub-install --debug --no-floppy --modules="biosdisk part_msdos chain raid mdraid ext2 linux search ata normal" /dev/md0 I've been searching the net for an answer to what I haven't done but no luck. On my other drive which I plan on removing the raid is initialized and mounted fine on boot, but it's not the boot/root for that setup. My grub.cfg isn't recognized by grub since it can't read the raid partition so I'm not posting that. md0 is not listed in my /boot/grub/device.map.

  I am new to jQuery and I have the following problem. My project has say 2 pages, 1.JSP and 2.html. Now I want to pick selected data from 2.html and use it on 1.JSP. Now this was achieved very easily using .load but I want the data to be present in a JavaScript variable rather than put it on the page (div tags, etc.), so that I can work upon that data (modify or add to database).   I was just curious about some exact implementation details of lists in Haskell (GHC-specific answers are fine)--are they naive linked lists, or do they have any special optimizations? More specifically: Do length and (!!) (for instance) have to iterate through the list? If so, are their values cached in any way (i.e., if I call length twice, will it have to iterate both times)? Does access to the back of the list involve iterating through the whole list? Are infinite lists and list comprehensions memoized? (i.e., for fib = 1:1:zipWith (+) fib (tail fib), will each value be computed recursively, or will it rely on the previous computed value?) Any other interesting implementation details would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

• Calendar sharing between unrelated Domains

  I have a 'request' from one of the 'big guys' that has me scratching my head a bit. He is one of our Executives that also is a board member of several other organistations, so he floats around between 4 different unrelated companies, each with their own domains, Exchange setup etc. He has domain accounts in each organisation. He has an iPad with multiple Exchange accounts so he can see all his calendars which works Ok for him - Apple calendaring bugs/flaws aside. What he wants is the ability for 'reception staff' at each organisation to 'see' all his calendars as they are booking things for him in their respective organisations calendars without it conflicting with bookings made in his calendars by other organisations......you with me?? So for example: Company A books a meeting into his Comapny A calendar at 9am Monday and Company B books him a meeting in his Company B Calendar at 9:15am Monday on the other side of town and of course Company C has him booked in all day Monday on their Company C calendar. He gets all those on his iPad but he would like either a 'global' calendar all can see and book into or the ability for receptionists at Company's A,B and C to see all the Calendars to avoid these kind of conflicts. I told him to 'go away' straight off the bat, I don't control anything to do with the other companies or know their infrastructure. And quite frankly I don't want any part of it...but he's whining and he's high enough up the food chain that I can't ignore him forever. I'm open to suggestions. Is there any third party software/services that can facilitiate this kind of setup? I really don't want to be creating users in my AD structure to people not ion our organisation so they can get access to his calendar and I am sure there sysadmins feel the same. As usual - any advice is greatly appreciated ;)

Apparantly it's very similar to the session id, but I've never seen it before. EDIT: It is sent in IE but not in FF.

  I have some data I am querying. The table is composed of two columns - a unique ID, and a value. I would like to count the number of times each unique value appears (which can easily be done with a COUNT and GROUP BY), but I then want to be able to count that. So, I would like to see how many items appear twice, three times, etc. So for the following data (ID, val)... 1, 2 2, 2 3, 1 4, 2 5, 1 6, 7 7, 1 The intermediate step would be (val, count)... 1, 3 2, 3 7, 1 And I would like to have(count_from_above, new_count)... 3, 2 -- since three appears twice in the previous table 1, 1 -- since one appears once in the previous table Is there any query which can do that? • Javascript Bookmarklet fails in IE8

  Anyone want to take a stab at why this bookmarklet fails in IE8? It turns all text uppercase in Friefox and Safari. But in IE8, it simply stalls with "loading..." I've enabled scriplets and the security settings in IE8.   When I try to connect to my CentOS 6.2 x86_64 server's samba shares using address \\REPO (NETBIOS name of REPO), it times out and shows an error; if I do so directly via IP, it works fine. Furthermore, my server does not work correctly as a WINS server despite my samba settings being correct for it (see below for details). If I stop the iptables service, things work properly. • Help with a simple switch statement

  I need to find the value of a variable and use it to add a class to a div, based on a switch statement. For example, my variable is $link and if $link has google.com IN IT at all, I need $class to equal 'google', if $link as yahoo.com IN IT at all, $class then needs to equal 'yahoo' So, I need something like this, but I'm not sure how/or if to use preg_match or something to check and see if the $link variable has the value we are looking for in it - see 'case' text below: switch ($link) { case 'IF link has Google.com in it': $class = 'google'; break; case 'IF link has Yahoo.com in it': $class = 'yahoo'; break; default: # code... break; } OR if there is a better way to do this, please let me know :D Thanks

• telerik mvc grid access cell data to enable columns.Command

  Hi! I can't seem to find a way to reference the value in a column in the grid, in my case it is the StatusId. Based on the cell value in this row, for the StatusId, I need to return a true or false to the method ".Visible(???)". It would be nice to find the answer in the documentation online but I haven't been able to. I find it hard to believe that I would be the first person who ever needed this functionality. • Why does x86 WiX installer on Vista x64 not write keys to WOW6432Node in the registry

  I have an installer that writes to HKLM\Software\DroidExplorer\InstallPath. On any x86 machine it writes just fine to the expected location, on Windows XP x64 and Windows 7 x64 it also writes to the expected location, which is actually HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\DroidExplorer\InstallPath. Later on during the install, my bootstrapper, which is also x86, attempts to read the value. On all x86 Windows machines it is successful, and on Windows XP x64 and Windows 7 x64, but Windows Vista x64 is unable to locate the key. If I look in the registry, it doesn't actually write it to WOW6432Node on Vista, it writes it to Software\DroidExplorer\InstallPath If I do not forcefully tell the installer to write to WOW6432Node, it writes the value to Software\DroidExplorer\InstallPath, but the bootstrapper still trys to look in WOW6432Node because of the Registry Reflection. This is on all x64 systems. Why is Vista x64 the only one I have this issue with? Is there a way around this?

  I'm trying to create a workbook with python and I need to test the values of different cells to fill it but I'm having some troubles. I use xlrd and xlwt to create and edit the excel file. I've made a little example of my problem and I don't understand why it's not working. import xlwt import xlrd wb = xlwt.Workbook() ws = wb.add_sheet('Test') ws.write(0,0,"ah") cell = ws.cell(0,0) # AttributeError: 'Worksheet' object has no attribute 'cell' print cell.value I had taken for granted that xlrd and xlwt have shared classes which can interact with each other but it doesn't seem to be the case. How do I get the cell value of an open Worksheet object?

• C# XPath Not Finding Anything

  I'm trying to use XPath to select the items which have a facet with Location values, but currently my attempts even to just select all items fail: The system happily reports that it found 0 items, then returns (instead the nodes should be processed by a foreach loop). I'd appreciate help either making my original query or just getting XPath to work at all.
