  I have seen a assembly program written from a book about assemble: assume cs:code code segment dw 0123h,0456h,0789h,0abch,0defh,0fedh,0cbah,0987h mov bx,0 mov ax,0 mov cx,8 s: add ax,cs:[bx] add bx,2 loop s mov ax,4c00h int 21h code ends end This program's function is to add eight numbers. The author compiled this program in the DOS and use the DEBUG to see how this program be loaded. The author use the R command and got that DS = 0B2DH ES = 0B2D SS = 0B3D CS = 0B3D IP = 0000 And then the author said that this program is loaded from the address 0B3D:0000. I'm a confused that why this program is loaded from the address 0B3D:0000? Is this because the existence of the Program Segment Prefix(PSP)? If the answer is the existence of the PSP, what is in the PSP?

  I need to parse JavaDoc (documentation) comment syntax with Delphi 7. It is well known in the java world as "JavaDoc", but I'm actually doing this for PHP, ie, parsing JavaDoc in some PHP code. Call it PHPDoc if you want to. To see how these comments work, you can see RAD IDEs like NetBeans etc. Example of JavaDoc for addition function: /** * Adds to numbers together. * @param integer $a The first number. * @param integer $b The second number. * @return integer The resulting number. */ function add($a,$b){ return $a+$b; } Please note that the parser need not be full, ie, parsing all of the PHP code. • How to export data which are mapped to enumerations

  I have a set of data which needs to be imported from a excel sheet, lets take the simplest example. Note: the data might eventually support uploading any locale. e.g. assuming one of the fields denoting a user is gender mapped to an enumeration and stored in the database as 0 for male and 1 for female. 0 and 1 being short values. If I have to import the values I cannot expect the user to punch in numbers (since they are not intuitive and is cumbersome when the enumerations are bigger), what would be the correct way to map to enumerations. Should we ask them to provide a string value in these cases (e.g. male or female) and provide the transformation to a enum in our code by wring a method public static Gender Gender.fromString(String value)

• PHP to serial with weird baud rates

  I am trying to use PHP to send text to an LED sign so I can send support ticket numbers to it. The sign itself is a piece of work; it came from eBay and is poorly made with almost no documentation. After fiddling with it for a while, I was able to figure out the way it expected stuff to be sent to it and that the baud rate is 28800. I already know how to communicate with stuff like this using PHP, but I don't know how to change the baud rate to something nonstandard. I've tried other baud rates, and haven't been able to get it to work.

• How can I create numbered map markers in Google Maps V3?

  I'm working on a map that has multiple markers on it. These markers use a custom icon, but I'd also like to add numbers on top. I've seen how this has been accomplished using older versions of the API. How can I do this in V3? *Note -- the "title" attribute creates a tooltip when you mouseover the marker, but I want something that will be layered on top of the custom image even when you're not hovering on top of it.   I need a program to get the smaller of two numbers, and I'm wondering if using a standard "if x is less than y" int a, b, low; if (a < b) low = a; else low = a; is more or less efficient than this: int a, b, low; low = b + ((a - b) & ((a - b) >> 31)); (or the variation of putting int delta = a - b at the top and rerplacing instances of a - b with that). I'm just wondering which one of these would be more efficient (or if the difference is to miniscule to be relevant), and the efficiency of if-else statements versus alternatives in general.

  Hi, I'm writing an extension method called ToPhoneFormat that formats a string of digits to phone numbers. Is it possible to add a parameter to the method that would enable me to call it like this: MyPhoneString.ToPhoneFormat(international code) That way, I could write MyPhoneString.ToPhoneFormat(1); to format a US phone number and MyPhoneString.ToPhoneFormat(33) to format a French phone number. I already wrote the method that does the formatting but I'm wondering how to build the constructor so that it works with a parameter when I'm calling it. Thanks.

Currently, one span.nNumber has a total digits of the two numbers (123456) and the next span.nNumber contains digits only from another number (456). • best way to output a full precision double into a text file

  Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?

  I was trying out an experiment with Python, trying to find out how many times it could add one to an integer in one minute's time. Assuming two computers are the same except for the speed of the CPUs, this should give an estimate of how fast some CPU operations may take for the computer in question. The code below is an example of a test designed to fulfill the requirements given above. This version is about 20% faster than the first attempt and 150% faster than the third attempt. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to get the most additions in a minute's time span? Higher numbers are desireable. • Switch to BigInteger if necessary

  I am reading a text file which contains numbers in the range [1, 10^100]. I am then performing a sequence of arithmetic operations on each number. I would like to use a BigInteger only if the number is out of the int/long range. One approach would be to count how many digits there are in the string and switch to BigInteger if there are too many. Otherwise I'd just use primitive arithmetic as it is faster. Is there a better way? Is there any reason why Java could not do this automatically i.e. switch to BigInteger if an int was too small? This way we would not have to worry about overflows.

But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

• Diff multiple files in perforce across a revision range

  I'd like to diff a bunch of lines across several revisions. Like, I'd like to see a.c, b.c, and c.c from changelist X to changelist Y. p4 diff2 a.c@X a.c@Y (where X & Y are changelist numbers) seems to work, but only sometimes. Specifically, if a.c is non-existent at X, I don't get a diff. I'd like to be able to get the diff (even though it'll be the whole file with only adds) anyways. To get the bigger picture: I have several files, across several commits, and I'd like to merge the diffs of these files in these commits, to basically say "this is a diff of what changed in this set of files during this set of changelists"

• Count of memory copies in *nix systems between packet at NIC and user application?

  Hi there, This is just a general question relating to some high-performance computing I've been wondering about. A certain low-latency messaging vendor speaks in its supporting documentation about using raw sockets to transfer the data directly from the network device to the user application and in so doing it speaks about reducing the messaging latency even further than it does anyway (in other admittedly carefully thought-out design decisions). My question is therefore to those that grok the networking stacks on Unix or Unix-like systems. How much difference are they likely to be able to realise using this method? Feel free to answer in terms of memory copies, numbers of whales rescued or areas the size of Wales ;) Their messaging is UDP-based, as I understand it, so there's no problem with establishing TCP connections etc. Any other points of interest on this topic would be gratefully thought about!   I've got a table with this data: [ID] [event_name] [last_event] 1 stats 2011-01-01 01:47:32 last_event is a timestamp. The event occurs every 48 hours (it's a cron job). I'd like to show my users the number of hours until the event executes again. So far I've got: SELECT (lastFinish + INTERVAL 48 HOUR) FROM `cron_status` which gives me the exact time and date of the next occurence: 2011-01-03 01:47:32. So I figured if I subtracted the current datetime... SELECT ((lastFinish + INTERVAL 48 HOUR) - SYSDATE()) FROM `cron_status` which (I think?) gives me the difference in unix time: 1980015. But if I divide that by 3600 to convert the seconds to hours... SELECT (((lastFinish + INTERVAL 48 HOUR) - SYSDATE())/3600) FROM `cron_status` I get numbers an order of magnitude too high: 549.99. Where am I going wrong? The target is returning the number of hours until the next execution. Thank you!

  The input list can be more than 1 million numbers. When I run the following code with smaller 'repeats', its fine; def sample(x): length = 1000000 new_array = random.sample((list(x)),length) return (new_array) def repeat_sample(x): i = 0 repeats = 100 list_of_samples = [] for i in range(repeats): list_of_samples.append(sample(x)) return(list_of_samples) repeat_sample(large_array) However, using high repeats such as the 100 above, results in MemoryError.
