  • ConfigurationManager.AppSettings[key] is always null

    - by Copeleto
Hi, I am trying to get the value for the key "sUser" in this appSetting http://coomeva1/AsisaWS_2008/ConsultaNuips.asmx http://coomeva1/AsisaWS_2008_Sec/ConsultaNuips.asmx http://coomeva1/AsisaWS_2008/ConsultaCedulaExtranjeria.asmx http://coomeva1/AsisaWS_2008_Sec/ConsultaCedulaExtranjeria.asmx userbancolombia 8909039388 this is the code on my class.cs string sUsr = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get["sUser"]; But always its null. I try this code (I took it from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.configuration.appsettingssection.settings.aspx): // Get the configuration file. System.Configuration.Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(ConfigurationUserLevel.None); // Get the appSettings section. AppSettingsSection appSettings = (AppSettingsSection)config.GetSection("appSettings"); // Get the auxiliary file name. Console.WriteLine("Auxiliary file: {0}", config.AppSettings.File); But it shows that the file Empty Also I am ussing the consolo to write those properties and it works if I get the apps using string sUsr = WIW.Business.Properties.Settings.Default.sUser; But I am going to use that class as a reference in a website and on the web.config of the site i cant configure those Thanks for your help

  • ASP.net VB Timers

    - by Tom Gullen
I would like to be able to time a page load time in ASP.net (VBscript). Adding Trace="true" to the page directive is nice, but I need to actually time an event and store it in a variable. In ASP it was easy with the Timer object, but in .net I can't find anything on Google. I need something along the lines of: Dim startTime Dim endTime startTime = now() doBigFunction() endTime = now() response.write("That took " & endTime - startTime & " milliseconds") Cheers!

  • What is lifetime of lambda-derived implicit functors in C++ ?

    - by Fyodor Soikin
The question is simple: what is lifetime of that functor object that is automatically generated for me by the C++ compiler when I write a lambda-expression? I did a quick search, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. In particular, if I pass the lambda somewhere, and it gets remembered there, and then I go out of scope, what's going to happen once my lambda is called later and tries to access my stack-allocated, but no longer alive, captured variables? Or does the compiler prevent such situation in some way? Or what?

  • In which order I had to simplify this Boolean expression?

    - by user3662105
I have to simplify this Boolean expression but i quite found it difficult since don't know in which order had to start with. the expression is: (x iff y) or (y iff z) if x found it little complicated to simplify since i don't know the order do I have to write it like: ((x iff y) or (y iff z)) if x or: (x iff y) or ((y iff z) if x) if you can give me a spot on this section of Boolean algebra. and I really will appreciate it if you gave me steps on how to simplify it. and had to say that I already tried a lot, solved a lot, tried wolfram alpha and others too even compared the results using truth tables but get different results and didn't know the right one from them. thanks in advance for your helping

  • Key logging in .NET

    - by Moshe
Is it possible to write a key logger in Visual Basic.NET? Is this the right language to be using? So far, I've gotten a console app to read input and append to a file. 1)How can I make a .NET program "catch" all keyboard input? 2)How do I make a process not show up in Task Manager? This is not for a virus, but rather a parental control program for a specific clientele. No malicious intent here.

  • Capture DDE Data that is being streamed in to a software

    - by user534391
Hello, I have a trading software that gets data from the internet. I want to capture that tick data. There is one software that has been made by a local develop which is able to do that and it looks like it uses DDE (NDde.dll, NetSQL.dll). I want to write a custom application that does the same. Any pointers how I can check how the data is being streamed and how to capture that data. I don't think it is encrypted, since the other developer would not have been able to decrypt either. I just need to scan how the software is getting the data. Thank you.

  • Get latest sql rows based on latest date and per user

    - by Umair
I have the following table: RowId, UserId, Date 1, 1, 1/1/01 2, 1, 2/1/01 3, 2, 5/1/01 4, 1, 3/1/01 5, 2, 9/1/01 I want to get the latest records based on date and per UserId but as a part of the following query (due to a reason I cannot change this query as this is auto generated by a tool but I can write pass any thing starting with AND...): SELECT RowId, UserId, Date FROM MyTable WHERE 1 = 1 AND ( // everything which needs to be done goes here . . . ) I have tried similar query, but get an error: Only one expression can be specified in the select list when the subquery is not introduced with EXISTS.

  • Entity Framework, what's so bad and what's so good?

    - by AverageJoe719
Hi all, I am curious as to what your opinions are in Entity Framework? I have read some things like the first version of it is super horrible because it doesn't handle many to many relationships (though many ORMs don't and I've never seen the issue with just making a linking table). Also is LINQ to Entities the same as Entity Framework? I think it is, but it seems like one term is used or the other. I have used Linq to SQL before, what are the advantages of it compared to that? In terms of coding preference I like to build everything from the ground up so I can fully understand it/be in control of the code I write. So I have heard that Entity Framework is harder and I know LinqToSQL handles a lot of stuff automatically, but specifically what are the differences? I appreciate your responses, Thanks =)

  • Wrapping allocated output parameters with a scoped_ptr/array

    - by Danra
So, I have some code which looks like this: byte* ar; foo(ar) // Allocates a new[] byte array for ar ... delete[] ar; To make this safer, I used a scoped_array: byte* arRaw; scoped_array ar; foo(arRaw); ar.reset(arRaw); ... // No delete[] The question is, Is there any existing way to do this using just the scoped_array, without using a temporary raw array? I can probably write an in-place "resetter" class, just wondering if the functionality exists and I'm missing it. Thanks, Dan

  • bash script to delete old deployments

    - by benjwarner
I have a directory where our deployments go. A deployment (which is itself a directory) is named in the format: <application-name>_<date> e.g. trader-gui_20091102 There are multiple applications deployed to this same parent directory, so the contents of the parent directory might look something like this: trader-gui_20091106 trader-gui_20091102 trader-gui_20091010 simulator_20091106 simulator_20091102 simulator_20090910 simulator_20090820 I want to write a bash script to clean out all deployments except for the most current of each application. (The most current denoted by the date in the name of the deployment). So running the bash script on the above parent directory would leave: trader-gui_20091106 simulator_20091106 Any help would be appreciated.

  • Easy to use time-stamps in Python

    - by Morlock
I'm working on a journal-type application in Python. The application basically permits the user write entries in the journal and adds a time-stamp for later querying the journal. As of now, I use the time.ctime() function to generate time-stamps that are visually friendly. The journal entries thus look like: Thu Jan 21 19:59:47 2010 Did something Thu Jan 21 20:01:07 2010 Did something else Now, I would like to be able to use these time-stamps to do some searching/querying. I need to be able to search, for example, for "2010", or "feb 2010", or "23 feb 2010". My questions are: 1) What time module(s) should I use: time vs datetime? 2) What would be an appropriate way of creating and using the time-stamp objects? Many thanks!

  • Why can i read dirty rows in MySql

    - by acidzombie24
    I cant believe this, i always throught the below would be concurrency safe. I write to a row in one transaction and i am able to read the dirty value from another transaction/command/connection! Why is this possible (not my main question) isnt this not desired and cause more troubles!?! Anyways, i expected that once i write to a row nothing else will be able to read to the row until the transaction is finished. And at least if the row can be still read that the clean (original) value will be read. (but maybe that would cause problems as well if the transaction doesnt use the newly commited data from the other transaction when it is ran) I would like count to == 11. I thought this would be safe in all variants of sql. What can i do to either 1) Not read the dirty value but clean 2) Have that row be locked until the transaction is finished? static MySqlConnection MakeConn() { string connStr = "server=192.168.126.128;user=root;database=TestDB;port=3306;password=a;"; MySqlConnection conn = new MySqlConnection(connStr); conn.Open(); return conn; } static Semaphore sem1 = new Semaphore(1, 1); static Semaphore sem2 = new Semaphore(1, 1); static void Main2() { Console.WriteLine("Starting Test"); // sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); Thread oThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(fn2)); oThread.Start(); var conn = MakeConn(); var cmd = new MySqlCommand(@" CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Persons ( P_Id int NOT NULL, name varchar(255), count int, PRIMARY KEY (P_Id) )", conn); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "delete from Persons; insert into Persons(name, count) VALUES('E', '4');"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; var count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("Finish inserting. v={0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); Console.WriteLine("Starting transaction"); using (var tns = conn.BeginTransaction()) { cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=count+1"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); count += 5; //10 cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=" + count.ToString(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); tns.Commit(); } Console.WriteLine("finished transaction 1"); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); //sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); } static void fn2() { int count; Console.WriteLine("Starting thread 2"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); var conn = MakeConn(); var cmd = new MySqlCommand("", conn); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); using (var tns = conn.BeginTransaction()) { cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=count+1"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); tns.Commit(); } Console.WriteLine("finished transaction 2"); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); //should be 11. 4 + 1x2(one each thread) += 5 from first thread == 11 sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); } console Starting Test 1W 2W Starting thread 2 Finish inserting. v=4 2R 1W 1R 1W Starting transaction count is 5 2R 2W count is 6 1R 1W count is 10 finished transaction 1 2R 2W finished transaction 2 1R 1W count is 10 2R 2W count is 10 1R

  • JPA entitymanager remove operation is not performant

    - by Samuel
    When I try to do an entityManager.remove(instance) the underlying JPA provider issues a separate delete operation on each of the GroupUser entity. I feel this is not right from a performance perspective, since if a Group has 1000 users there will be 1001 calls issued to delete the entire group and itr groupuser entity. Would it make more sense to write a named query to remove all entries in groupuser table (e.g. delete from group_user where group_id=?), so I would have to make just 2 calls to delete the group. @Entity @Table(name = "tbl_group") public class Group { @OneToMany(mappedBy = "group", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY) @Cascade(value = DELETE_ORPHAN) private Set<GroupUser> groupUsers = new HashSet<GroupUser>(0);

  • 'System.Windows.Data.MultiBinding' is not a valid value for property 'Text'.

    - by chaiguy
I'm trying to write a custom MarkupExtension that allows me to use my own mechanisms for defining a binding, however when I attempt to return a MultiBinding from my MarkupExtension I get the above exception. I have: <TextBlock Text="{my:CustomMarkup ...}" /> CustomMarkup returns a MultiBinding, but apparently Text doesn't like being set to a MultiBinding. How come it works when I say: <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding ... /> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> But it doesn't work the way I'm doing it?

  • Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges giving wrong size calculations in C#.Net?

    - by Owen Blacker
I'm trying to render some text into a specific part of an image in a Web Forms app. The text will be user entered, so I want to vary the font size to make sure it fits within the bounding box. I have code that was doing this fine on my proof-of-concept implementation, but I'm now trying it against the assets from the designer, which are larger, and I'm getting some odd results. I'm running the size calculation as follows: StringFormat fmt = new StringFormat(); fmt.Alignment = StringAlignment.Center; fmt.LineAlignment = StringAlignment.Near; fmt.FormatFlags = StringFormatFlags.NoClip; fmt.Trimming = StringTrimming.None; int size = __startingSize; Font font = __fonts.GetFontBySize(size); while (GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).IsLargerThan(__textBoundingBox)) { context.Trace.Write("MyHandler.ProcessRequest", "Decrementing font size to " + size + ", as size is " + GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).Size() + " and limit is " + __textBoundingBox.Size()); size--; if (size < __minimumSize) { break; } font = __fonts.GetFontBySize(size); } context.Trace.Write("MyHandler.ProcessRequest", "Writing " + text + " in " + font.FontFamily.Name + " at " + font.SizeInPoints + "pt, size is " + GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).Size() + " and limit is " + __textBoundingBox.Size()); I then use the following line to render the text onto an image I'm pulling from the filesystem: g.DrawString(text, font, __brush, __textBoundingBox, fmt); where: __fonts is a PrivateFontCollection, PrivateFontCollection.GetFontBySize is an extension method that returns a FontFamily RectangleF __textBoundingBox = new RectangleF(150, 110, 212, 64); int __minimumSize = 8; int __startingSize = 48; Brush __brush = Brushes.White; int size starts out at 48 and decrements within that loop Graphics g has SmoothingMode.AntiAlias and TextRenderingHint.AntiAlias set context is a System.Web.HttpContext (this is an excerpt from the ProcessRequest method of an IHttpHandler) The other methods are: private static RectangleF GetStringBounds(string text, Font font, StringFormat fmt) { CharacterRange[] range = { new CharacterRange(0, text.Length) }; StringFormat myFormat = fmt.Clone() as StringFormat; myFormat.SetMeasurableCharacterRanges(range); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(new Bitmap( (int) __textBoundingBox.Width - 1, (int) __textBoundingBox.Height - 1))) { g.SmoothingMode = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.SmoothingMode.AntiAlias; g.TextRenderingHint = System.Drawing.Text.TextRenderingHint.AntiAlias; Region[] regions = g.MeasureCharacterRanges(text, font, __textBoundingBox, myFormat); return regions[0].GetBounds(g); } } public static string Size(this RectangleF rect) { return rect.Width + "×" + rect.Height; } public static bool IsLargerThan(this RectangleF a, RectangleF b) { return (a.Width > b.Width) || (a.Height > b.Height); } Now I have two problems. Firstly, the text sometimes insists on wrapping by inserting a line-break within a word, when it should just fail to fit and cause the while loop to decrement again. I can't see why it is that Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges thinks that this fits within the box when it shouldn't be word-wrapping within a word. This behaviour is exhibited irrespective of the character set used (I get it in Latin alphabet words, as well as other parts of the Unicode range, like Cyrillic, Greek, Georgian and Armenian). Is there some setting I should be using to force Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges only to be word-wrapping at whitespace characters (or hyphens)? This first problem is the same as post 2499067. Secondly, in scaling up to the new image and font size, Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges is giving me heights that are wildly off. The RectangleF I am drawing within corresponds to a visually apparent area of the image, so I can easily see when the text is being decremented more than is necessary. Yet when I pass it some text, the GetBounds call is giving me a height that is almost double what it's actually taking. Using trial and error to set the __minimumSize to force an exit from the while loop, I can see that 24pt text fits within the bounding box, yet Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges is reporting that the height of that text, once rendered to the image, is 122px (when the bounding box is 64px tall and it fits within that box). Indeed, without forcing the matter, the while loop iterates to 18pt, at which point Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges returns a value that fits. The trace log excerpt is as follows: Decrementing font size to 24, as size is 193×122 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 23, as size is 191×117 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 22, as size is 200×75 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 21, as size is 192×71 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 20, as size is 198×68 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 19, as size is 185×65 and limit is 212×64 Writing VENNEGOOR of HESSELINK in DIN-Black at 18pt, size is 178×61 and limit is 212×64 So why is Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges giving me a wrong result? I could understand it being, say, the line height of the font if the loop stopped around 21pt (which would visually fit, if I screenshot the results and measure it in Paint.Net), but it's going far further than it should be doing because, frankly, it's returning the wrong damn results. Any and all help gratefully received. Thanks!

  • HTTP vs FTP upload

    - by Richard Knop
I am building a large website where members will be allowed to upload content (images, videos) up to 20MB of size (maybe a little less like 15MB, we haven't settled on a final upload limit yet but it will be somewhere between 10-25MB). My question is, should I go with HTTP or FTP upload in this case. Bear in mind that 80-90% of uploads will be smaller size like cca 1-3MB but from time to time some members will also want to upload large files (10MB+). Is HTTP uploading reliable enough for such large files or should I go with FTP? Is there a noticeable speed difference between HTTP and FTP while uploading files? I am asking because I'm using Zend Framework which already has HTTP adapter for file uploads, in case I choose FTP I would have to write my own adapter for it. Thanks!

  • Cascading updates with business key equality: Hibernate best practices?

    - by Traphicone
I'm new to Hibernate, and while there are literally tons of examples to look at, there seems to be so much flexibility here that it's sometimes very hard to narrow all the options down the best way of doing things. I've been working on a project for a little while now, and despite reading through a lot of books, articles, and forums, I'm still left with a bit of a head scratcher. Any veteran advice would be very appreciated. So, I have a model involving two classes with a one-to-many relationship from parent to child. Each class has a surrogate primary key and a uniquely constrained composite business key. <class name="Container"> <id name="id" type="java.lang.Long"> <generator class="identity"/> </id> <properties name="containerBusinessKey" unique="true" update="false"> <property name="name" not-null="true"/> <property name="owner" not-null="true"/> </properties> <set name="items" inverse="true" cascade="all-delete-orphan"> <key column="container" not-null="true"/> <one-to-many class="Item"/> </set> </class> <class name="Item"> <id name="id" type="java.lang.Long"> <generator class="identity"/> </id> <properties name="itemBusinessKey" unique="true" update="false"> <property name="type" not-null="true"/> <property name="color" not-null="true"/> </properties> <many-to-one name="container" not-null="true" update="false" class="Container"/> </class> The beans behind these mappings are as boring as you can possibly imagine--nothing fancy going on. With that in mind, consider the following code: Container c = new Container("Things", "Me"); c.addItem(new Item("String", "Blue")); c.addItem(new Item("Wax", "Red")); Transaction t = session.beginTransaction(); session.saveOrUpdate(c); t.commit(); Everything works fine the first time, and both the Container and its Items are persisted. If the above code block is executed again, however, Hibernate throws a ConstraintViolationException--duplicate values for the "name" and "owner" columns. Because the new Container instance has a null identifier, Hibernate assumes it is an unsaved transient instance. This is expected but not desired. Since the persistent and transient Container objects have the same business key values, what we really want is to issue an update. It is easy enough to convince Hibernate that our new Container instance is the same as our old one. With a quick query we can get the identifier of the Container we'd like to update, and set our transient object's identifier to match. Container c = new Container("Things", "Me"); c.addItem(new Item("String", "Blue")); c.addItem(new Item("Wax", "Red")); Query query = session.createSQLQuery("SELECT id FROM Container" + "WHERE name = ? AND owner = ?"); query.setString(0, c.getName()); query.setString(1, c.getOwner()); BigInteger id = (BigInteger)query.uniqueResult(); if (id != null) { c.setId(id.longValue()); } Transaction t = session.beginTransaction(); session.saveOrUpdate(c); t.commit(); This almost satisfies Hibernate, but because the one-to-many relationship from Container to Item cascades, the same ConstraintViolationException is also thrown for the child Item objects. My question is: what is the best practice in this situation? It is highly recommended to use surrogate primary keys, and it is also recommended to use business key equality. When you put these two recommendations in to practice together, however, two of the greatest conveniences of Hibernate--saveOrUpdate and cascading operations--seem to be rendered almost completely useless. As I see it, I have only two options: Manually fetch and set the identifier for each object in the mapping. This clearly works, but for even a moderately sized schema this is a lot of extra work which it seems Hibernate could easily be doing. Write a custom interceptor to fetch and set object identifiers on each operation. This looks cleaner than the first option but is rather heavy-handed, and it seems wrong to me that you should be expected to write a plug-in which overrides Hibernate's default behavior for a mapping which follows the recommended design. Is there a better way? Am I making completely the wrong assumptions? I'm hoping that I'm just missing something. Thanks.

  • Include static file in JSP with variable filename on WebSphere 6

    - by cringe
I'm struggling with including a static file into my JSPs on Websphere 6.0.2.17. I tried this: <% final String MY_DIR = ResourceBundle.getBundle("mybundle").getString("props.pages.wcm"); %> <% final String page = ResourceBundle.getBundle("mybundle").getString("page"); %> <% final String inc = MY_DIR + "/" + bonus; %> <%@include file="<%= inc %>"%> The path is /wcm/some/other/dir/page and I can happily print that out with out.write(inc). Unfortunatly the include (and the jsp:include) isn't including the file at all. There is no error message, but the content isn't included... The file is accessible via the browser though. Do I have to create a full JSP for this to work? I just need a HTML file.

  • pySerial writes to Arduino Uno get buffered

    - by Bhaktavatsalam Nallanthighal
I have a Python script that writes short messages to the serial port on my Arduino Uno board using pySerial. There is a loop and depending on some conditions, multiple writes can happen within a loop, something like this: while True: #Conditions block 1 if <CONDITION1>: serial.writelines("INIT") elif <CONDITION2>: serial.writelines("NEW") ... #Conditions block 2 if <CONDITION1>: # Fetch something from the Internet serial.writelines("CHECK") elif <CONDITION2>: # Fetch something from the Internet serial.writelines("STOP") ... But, when my Arduino board receives this it receives the first message as INIT, but the second one is being read as INITSTOP or INITCHECK and third one gets concatenated to the previous messages. My arduino program checks for specific message in this way: if(msg.equals("CHECK")) { // Do something } else if(msg.equals("INIT")) { // Do Something else } Can anyone guide me on this? BTW, I don't think the problem is with the Arduino as it works perfectly when I test it with the Serial Monitor available with the IDE. I've tried adding sleeps of upto 10 seconds before every write, but that did not work out.

  • SQL Like question

Is there a way to reverse the SQL Like operator so it searches a field backwards? For example, I have a value in a field that looks like this "Xbox 360 Video Game". If I write a query like below, it returns the result fine. SELECT id FROM table WHERE title like "%Xbox%Game%" However, when I search like this, it doesn't find any results. SELECT id FROM table WHERE title like "%Video%Xbox%" I need it to match in any direction. How can I get around this?

  • What's the best self-tracking software for Linux?

    - by trench
I'm looking for a way to track myself and receive quality data upon which I can write future scripts/programs. For example, I use Google Reader a lot. I'd like to track the hrefs that garner my clicks. Further, I'd like to drop all of the words of each href into a database where they can be stacked in a hierarchical manner. At the end of the week I want to know that "Ubuntu" garnered 448 clicks and "Cheetos" garnered 2. :) That's just one example... I'd like this tracking and data-collecting to extend beyond my browser. I know writing something to do this myself wouldn't be too awfully difficult but if something already exists I'd happily use it. Thanks in advance. Primary OS: Ubuntu 10.04

  • Is System.AddIn mostly about making it easier to use Remoting or does it make it harder to do so?

    - by MatthewMartin
It takes at least 7 assemblies and restricting my AddIn's data model to data types that remoting can deal with before the appdomain isolation features begin to work. It is so complex! The System.AddIn teams blog implies to me they were trying to re-create a mental model of COM, a model I never understood very well in the first place and am not sold on the benefits. (If COM is so good why's it dead?-rhetorical question.) If I don't need to mirror or interop with legacy COM (like VSTO does using System.AddIn), is it possible to just create some classes that load load in a new AppDomain? I can write the discovery code my self, I've done it before and a naive implementation is pretty fast because I'm not like iterating over the assemblies in the GAC! So my specific question is, can I get the AppDomain isolation that AddIns provide with a few code Remoting snippets, and what would those be?
