Why i cant save a long text on my MySQL database?

im trying to save to my data base a long text (about 2500 chars) input by my users using a web form and passed to the server using php. When i look in phpmyadmin, the text gets crop. How can i config my table in order to get the complete text? C# Breakpoint Weirdness

In my program I've got two data files A and B. The data in A is static and the data in B refers back to the data in A. In order to make sure the data in B is invalidated when A is changed, I keep an identifier for each of the links which is a long byte-string identifying the data. I get this string using BitConverter on some of the important properties. My problem is that this scheme isn't working. I save the identifiers initially, and with I reload (with the exact same data in A) the identifiers don't match anymore. It seems the bit converter gives different results when I go to save. The really weird thing about it is, if I place a breakpoint in the save code, I can see the identifier it's writing to the file is fine, and the next load works. If I don't place a breakpoint and say print the identifiers to console instead, they're totally different. It's like when my program is running at full-speed the CPU messes up some instructions. This isn't the first time something like this happens to me. I've seen it in other projects. What gives? Has anyone every experienced this kind of debugging weirdness? I can't explain how stopping the program and not stopping it can change the output. Also, it's not a hardware problem because this happens on my laptop as well.

MS Query returns data inside itself but does not export it to Excel

Hi, I'm having a strange problem with Excel and MS Query: I'm using MS Query to run a T-SQL query against a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and return the results to Excel. To do this, I open Excel, go to Data - Import external data - New database query, select my data source, paste the SQL script in MS Query and click File - Return data to Microsoft Office Excel, leaving all the query options to their defaults. This works fine for many other Excel files, but this time although MS Query shows the correct data when I paste the SQL script, after returning to Excel all I get is the query name in the upper left cell, with no data returned. I fear the cause could be the SQL script, as it contains some advanced functions like union all, UDFs and variables. I wanted to add dynamic charts in the webpage. It goes like this... I get the start and end date from user and draw separate charts for each date bewteen the start and end date. Capturing Drupal7 DOM content before page load for comparison

We have an MU (Multisite) installation of Drupal7 here at work, and are trying to temporarily hold back the swarm of bots we receive until we get a chance to load our content. I wrote a quick and and dirty script to send 503 headers if we find a certain criteria in Xpath (This can ALSO be done as a strpos/preg_match if DOM is not formed). In order to get the ball rolling though I need to figure out how to either A) Hijack the Drupal7 bootstrap and pull all content through this filter below B) ob_flush content through the filter before content is loaded The issue that I am having is figuring out exactly where I can catch the content at? I thought that index.php in Drupal7 would be the suspect, but I'm a little confused as to where or how I should capture the contents. Working with extra fields in an Inline form - save_model, save_formset, can't make sense of the diff

These fields basically are a shortcut to the instantiation of another model (Trip). Trip can have its own admin views, but these shortcuts are needed because when my project partners are entering 'Membership' data in the system they happen to have also the 'Trip' information handy (and also because some of the info in Membership can just be copied over to Trip etc. etc.). So all I want to have is two extra fields in the Membership Inline - placeVisited and pleasuretrip - which together with the Person instance will let me instantiate the Trip model in the background... I found out I can easily add extra fields to the inline view by defining my own form. Pointer incrementing query

I have been looking at this piece of code, and it is not doing what I expect. I have 3 globals. int x, y, *pointer, z; Inside of main I declare them. x = 10; y = 25; pointer = &x; now at this point &x is 0x004A144 &y is 0x004A138 pointer is pointing to 0x004A144 Now when I increment: y = *++pointer; it points to 0x004A148, this is the address y should be at shouldn't it? The idea is that incrementing the pointer to 'x' should increment it to point at y, but it doesn't seem to want to declare them in in order like I expect. If this a VS2005 / 2008 problem? Or maybe an Express problem? This isn't really homework, as I have done it a couple of years ago but I was revising on my pointer stuff and I tried this again. But this time I am getting unexpected results. Does anyone have opinions on this? *UPDATE sorry should be more clear, 'thought' on declaration 'y' should be at 148, and that incrementing the pointer pointing to x should increment 'pointer' to 148 (which it does), but that isn't where y is. Why isn't y declaring where it should be.

Using Parameter Values In SQL Statement

I am trying to write a database script (SQL SERVER 2008) which will copy information from database tables on one server to corresponding tables in another database on a different server. I have read that the correct way to do this is to use a sql statement in a format similar to the following: INSERT INTO <linked_server>.<database>.<owner>.<table_name> SELECT * FROM <linked_server>.<database>.<owner>.<table_name> As there will be several tables being copied, I would like to declare variables at the top of the script to allow the user to specify the names of each server and database that are to be used. These could then be used throughout the script. However, I am not sure how to use the variable values in the actual SQL statements. What I want to achieve is something like the following: DECLARE @SERVER_FROM AS NVARCHAR(50) = 'ServerFrom' DECLARE @DATABASE_FROM AS NVARCHAR(50) = 'DatabaseTo' DECLARE @SERVER_TO AS NVARCHAR(50) = 'ServerTo' DECLARE @DATABASE_TO AS NVARCHAR(50) = 'DatabaseTo' INSERT INTO @SERVER_TO.@DATABASE_TO.dbo.TableName SELECT * FROM @SERVER_FROM.@DATABASE_FROM.dbo.TableName ... How should I use the @ variables in this code in order for it to work correctly? Additionally, do you think my method above is correct for what I am trying to achieve and should I be using NVARCHAR(50) as my variable type or something else? Thanks

multi-dimension array value sorting in php

Another potentially interesting (or n00b, whatever comes first) question. I am building up an array with a set of database fields with information about table, actual field name and descriptive field name as a multi-dimensional array. Here is what it currently looks like: $Fields['User']['ID'] = "User ID"; $Fields['User']['FirstName'] = "First Name"; $Fields['Stats']['FavouriteOrder'] = "Favourite Item Ordered"; $Fields['Geographic']['Location'] = "Current Location"; $Fields['Geographic']['LocationCode'] = "Current Location Code"; Okay, this is fine, but I am piping this into a system that allows exporting of selected fields, and in the end I want to foreach() through the different levels, extract the data and then ultimately have all the descriptive fields to be displayed sorted alphabetically using their descriptive name. So ultimately in the order: Current Location, Current Location Code, Favourite Item Ordered, First Name then User ID - obviously keeping index associations. I can't use usort() and I can't use array_multisort()... or maybe I can and I just don't know how. usort() seems to need a key to sort by, but I have variable keys. array_multisort() just seems to do the same as sort() really. Any ideas?

Minimal deployment of couchdb on windows

Hi, I'd like to use couchdb for a client-only application on Windows (the document-oriented structure and the synchronization features would be perfect for me). There is a Windows installer package here, but the installer itself has about 45 MB, when installed it takes more than 100 MB on my HD. This is far to much for my (relatively small) application. I noticed that there are a lot of "src" directories in the couchdb/lib subdirs. I've been experimenting with removing some of them and it didn't seem to break the system. Now I'm wondering what would be the "minimal" set of files (preferably binary-only) that would be needed in order to run a local couchdb server. Are there already any efforts to create such a deployment-friendly installer? Or could anyone give some (even very general) hints how to create it? How much disk space would be minimally required for such an installation? Needless to say that I'm not at all familiar with neither the couchdb internals nor the Erlang system :). But perhaps I could figure out if I got some direction (or I could stop trying if someone told me that this would be impossible or didn't make sense at all ...) Thanks anyway!

SQL Server 2008 - Keyword search using table Join

Ok, I created a Stored Procedure that, among other things, is searching 5 columns for a particular keyword. To accomplish this, I have the keywords parameter being split out by a function and returned as a table. Then I do a Left Join on that table, using a LIKE constraint. So, I had this working beautifully, and then all of the sudden it stops working. Now it is returning every row, instead of just the rows it needs. The other caveat, is that if the keyword parameter is empty, it should ignore it. Given what's below, is there A) a glaring mistake, or B) a more efficient way to approach this? Loading Jscript files into Firefox extension

Hi ! Let's get directly to the problem : I'm actually doing a firefox extension in which i would like to implement the jWebsocket API in order to build a small chat. I got my main script file, named test.js, and the jWebsocket lib into a js folder. Just for you to know, this is my first firefox extension ever. So in my XUL file I got this (for the script part only of course, the interface code is not shown) : <overlay id="test-overlay" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"> <script type="application/x-javascript" src="chrome://test/content/test.js" /> <script type="application/x-javascript" src="chrome://test/content/js/jwebsocket.js" /> jwebsocket.js being the file I need to call according to jWebsocket website. In my main script file test.js I start with : if (jws.browserSupportsWebSockets()) { jWebSocketClient = new jws.jWebSocketJSONClient(); } else { var lMsg = jws.MSG_WS_NOT_SUPPORTED; alert(lMsg); } jws being the namespace created into the jwebsocket.js file. Of course I've got the required stand-alone server running in background, and working. So from what I understood looking on various websites, is that if a js file is loaded into the javascript allocated memory space (with the tag), all namespace/function should be available between each file. But this was mostly for HTML-oriented issues, so I'm not sure if it applies to XUL/Firefox environment. But the script keep failing at the first jws call. Any ideas on what goes wrong here ? I'm stuck for 2 days now :/

Updating ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripStatusLabel along with with an action

In a Windows Form, I have a search box that fires an event to search a remote database and display some results. The query is pretty fast, usually just a fraction of a second, but in case the delay is noticeable there is a progress bar and label in the form's status bar. When the user clicks "Search" the status label should appear and the progress bar show some progress. Then when the result comes back the label should disappear and the progress bar should be full. Pretty basic response. The problem is, I can't get those actions to happen in that order. Using the code below, I click "Search", nothing happens until the results are displayed, and then the progress bar fills up from 0 to 100. The label never appears. I even threw in a sleep command immediately after the event to be sure I wasn't just missing it, but it's as if the first 2 statements are not being executed. In Python, how can I find the index of the first item in a list that is NOT some value?

Python's list type has an index(x) method. It takes a single parameter x, and returns the (integer) index of the first item in the list that has the value x. Basically, I need to invert the index(x) method. I need to get the index of the first value in a list that does NOT have the value x. I would probably be able to even just use a function that returns the index of the first item with a value != None. I can think of a 'for' loop implementation with an incrementing counter variable, but I feel like I'm missing something. Is there an existing method, or a one-line Python construction that can handle this? In my program, the situation comes up when I'm handling lists returned from complex regex matches. All but one item in each list have a value of None. If I just needed the matched string, I could use a list comprehension like '[x for x in [my_list] if x is not None]', but I need the index in order to figure out which capture group in my regex actually caused the match.

iPhone TabbarController Switch Transition

I've implemented gestures (touchBegan-moved-ended) in order to allow for swiping through my tabs. It works. I'd like to add a slide-from-left and slide-from-right transition. It would be better if it could be part of the gesture if statement which tells me if the swipe is towards the right of left. Since I determine which tab is displayed from that, I could show that specific transition along with the new tab. So my question is this: what's the simplest way to simplement a slide transition at a specific instance. I don't want it to be for the whole tabbarcontrol since this is specifically for the swiping. Have an app that is looking for application windows being created on the desktop using class Unresponsive { private StructureChangedEventHandler m_UIAeventHandler = new StructureChangedEventHandler(OnStructureChanged); public Unresponsive() { Automation.AddStructureChangedEventHandler(AutomationElement.RootElement, TreeScope.Children, m_UIAeventHandler); } private void OnStructureChanged(object sender, StructureChangedEventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("Change event"); } } You can see the same issue using UISpy.exe, selecting the desktop and configuring scope for children and just the structure changed event. The problem I'm trying to resolve is that the events are not raised in a timely manner, there seems to be some grouping/delay which makes the app appear to be non responsive. If you start a new app with 1 window and wait a second you get the event, seems alright. If you start the same app several times without delay (say clicking on quickstart), it's not until all of the instances of the app get 'initialised' by the AutomationProxies that you get the notice for the first app (and in short order the other apps/windows). I've sat watching task manager as each instance of the app starts to grow as it is initialised, waiting until the last app is done and then seeing the events all come in. Similarly any time any apps are starting windows within a timeframe there seems to be some blocking. I can't see how to configure this timeframe, or get each structure changed event to be sent on as soon as it happens. Also, this process of listening for structure changed events seems to be leaking, just by listening there is a leak in native memory. (visible in UISpy and my app)

Excel automation: Close event missing

Another hi all, I am doing Excel automation via Interop in C#, and I want to be informed when a workbook is closed. However, there is no Close event on the workbook nor a Quit event on the application. Has anybody done that before? How can I write a piece of code which reacts to the workbook being closed (which is only executed if the workbook is really closed)? Ideally that should happen after closing the workbook, so I can rely on the file to reflect all changes. Details about what I found so far: There is a BeforeClose() event, but if there are unsaved changes this event is raised before the user being asked whether to save them, so at the moment I can process the event, I don't have the final file and I cannot release the COM objects, both things that I need to have/do. I do not even know whether the workbook will actually be closed, since the user might choose to abort closing. Then there is a BeforeSave() event. So, if the user chooses "Yes" to save unsaved changes, then BeforeSave() is executed after BeforeClose(). However, if the user chooses to "Abort", then hits "file-save", the exact same order of events is executed. Further, if the user chooses "No", the BeforeSave() isn't executed at all. The same holds as long as the user doesn't click any of these options.

Website Live Chat Script - Interface With Windows Live Messenger?

Hello again fellow StackOverflow users! What I am looking for currently is your opinions on the what the best live chat script would be for my website. I'd be using this on both my local computer repair (which I've not really set up yet) company's site, as well as my other technical support site that is geared more towards showing people how to fix whatever problem they have themselves. It'll be a little bit before I launch it on either site, as I need to find a good design for my local computer repair company's site, as well as redesign TweaksForGeeks.com's layout so that it's more magazine like. (If you have any suggestions on good Wordpress templates for these, that'd also be swell. :) ) Features I'd like for the live chat script to have: (if possible) Real-time posting of messages (or as close to real time as possible) Integration into my Windows Live Messenger account - By this I mean it'd be handy if instead of me having to man a separate open browser window and constantly check it for new messages, it'd be much more convenient if it would instead just allow me to receive and respond to messages via my Windows Live account the same way I'd chat with any other person on my contact list. Sound notification of new messages when the chat isn't the focused window - In the event that using Windows Messenger isn't possible then I'd need it to notify me upon receipt of a new message. Recording of chat transcripts - This is a MUST HAVE Easy customization - I'll likely want to modify how it looks and whatnot, in addition to the fact that I'm going to set it up so that the chat transcripts can be posted to my site easily in order to be useful to my other visitors later on. With all that in mind, what is available out there? I've not really researched this at all yet; aside from doing a cursory search just before I decided to ask my StackOverflow brothers. OpenGL pixels drawn with each horizontal pair swapped

I'm somewhat new to OpenGL though I'm fairly sure my problem lies in the pixel format being used, or how my texture is being generated... I'm drawing a texture onto a flat 2D quad using a 16bit RGB5_A1 pixel format, though I don't make use of any alpha at this stage. The problem I'm having is that each pair of horizontal pixel values have been swapped. That is... if the pixels positions should be in this order (assume 8x2 image) 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 they are instead drawn as 1 0 3 2 5 4 7 6 Or, more clearly from this image (below). Left is what I get... Right is what I should get. . The question is... How have I ended up with this? Is there something wrong with the pixel format? Unlikely since the colours all appear correct, and I would expect all kinds of nasty if it were down to endian-ness. Suggestions greatly appreciated. Update: Turns out the problem was in my source renderer. Interestingly, I've avoided the problem entirely by using 32-bit textures (haven't tried 24-bit at this point).

Modify MySQL INSERT statement to omit the insertion of certain rows

I'm trying to expand a little on a statement that I received help with last week. As you can see, I'm setting up a temporary table and inserting rows of student data from a recently administered test for a few dozen schools. When the rows are inserted, they are sorted by the score (totpct_stu, high to low) and the row_number is added, with 1 representing the highest score, etc. I've learned that there were some problems at school #9999 in SMITH's class (every student made a perfect score and they were the only students in the district to do so). So, I do not want to import SMITH's class. As you can see, I DELETED SMITH's class, but this messed up the row numbering for the remainder of student at the school (e.g., high score row_number is now 20, not 1). How can I modify the INSERT statement so as to not insert this class? Thanks! Raphael.js: Adding a new custom element

I would like to create a custom Raphael element, with custom properties and functions. This object must also contain predefined Raphael objects. For example, I would have a node class, that would contain a circle with text and some other elements inside it. The problem is to add this new object to a set. These demands are needed because non-Raphael objects cannot be added to sets. As a result, custom objects that can contain Raphael objects cannot be used. SQL Server 2005 Import from Excel

I'd like to know what my best option would be to import data from an excel file on a weekly or monthly basis. At first, I thought I would use SSIS, but after much struggle with seemingly simple tasks, I'm starting to rethink my plan. Would it be better/easier to just write the SQL by hand or use the services of an SSIS package? The basic process will be as follows: A separate process will download an .xls file to a local fileshare. The xls file will have a filename like: 'myfilename MON YY'. I will need to read the month and year from the the filename, reformat it to a sql date and then query a DimDate table to find the corresponding date key. For each row (after the first 2 header rows), insert the data with the date key, unless the row is a total row, then ignore. Here are some of the issues I've been encountering with SSIS: I can parse the date string from a flat file datasource, but can't seem to do it with an excel data source. Also, once parsed, i cannot seem to convert the string to a date in order to perform the lookup for the date key. For example, I want to do something like this: select DateKey from DimDate where ActualDate = convert(datetime, '01-' + 'JAN-10', 120) but i don't think it is possible to use the 'convert' or 'datetime' keywords in an expression builder. I have been also unable to find where I can edit the SQL to ignore the first 2 rows of data. I'm very skeptical of using SSIS because it seems like a Kludgy way of doing something that can probably be accomplished more efficiently writing the SQL yourself, but I may be forced to use SSIS. Thoughts?
