  • Please help to clean up my RoR development environment

    I started RoR development a few months ago, and being new to Mac... Time flies and now I have a lot different ruby versions, rails versions and gems versions located everywhere......And currently I installed rvm and things got even worst, all things messed! And so I started want to clean all things and use rvm again! I want to uninstall all gems, all rails, and all ruby versions, except the system's default one (the very old one born with the mac). Or any other better solutions or suggestions!?   • Why html frame behave differently in Firefox and IE8 ?

    I use html frame on my webiste, it's been running for I while, usually I only use Firefox to surf the net, my site looks and functions ok, but today I suddenly found IE8 has a problem with the frame on my site, if I click on the top menu items, it's supposed to display the content in the lower part of the frame, it does this correctly in Firefox, but in IE8, it displays the content in the upper part of the frame and replaces the menu items.   • SQL error - Cannot convert nvarchar to decimal

    I have a C# application that simply parses all of the txt documents within a given network directory and imports the data to a SQL server db. Everything was cruising along just fine until about the 1800th file when it happend to have a few blanks in columns that are called out as DBType.Decimal (and the value is usually zero in the files, not blank). So I got this error, "cannot convert nvarchar to decimal". I am wondering how I could tell the app to simply skip the lines that have this issue?? Perhaps I could even just change the column type to varchar even tho values are numbers (what problems could this create?)   • How do I remedy "Error: Cannot find module 'child-process-close'"?

    I was going about business as usual and about to checkout generator-angular-fullstack. I got no red errors but a message a the end saying Error: Cannot find module 'child-process-close'. I tried many a-thing–uninstalling node, reinstalling, manually getting rid of files and directories in local and/or global paths and tried to make sure Homebrew was the one who installed everything and somehow I've made things worse. (Also, I initially saw errors regarding karma. Everything looked right but it doesn't seem I did any good by throwing commands at it.) I am at a loss. All the stackoverflow questions have been clicked and I'm afraid I've probably tried too many of the suggestions. I cannot install any Yeoman generator. I cannot install anything with npm. When inside the project directory when I run npm install it throws the error. I really have no clue. Is there a way I can basically start over all together? A simple uninstall and install isn't cutting it. Something in the system needs to change but I don't know what. Any ideas?

Things I have tried I've tried the changes in #1372971 which has no helped. I have also tried the changes recommended on the Microsoft Social site, which has also not helped. I have confirmed that the txt file extension is not blocked as indicated here. In addition I can remove the file via the website, it is just on the web service that this fails. The permissions are correct (or rather not in play) as I am running as a SharePoint administrator, which is the same account that uploaded it via the copy web service.

  • HintPath vs ReferencePath in Visual Studio

    What exactly is the difference between the HintPath in a .csproj file and the ReferencePath in a .csproj.user file? We're trying to commit to a convention where dependency DLLs are in a "releases" svn repo and all projects point to a particular release. Since different developers have different folder structures, relative references won't work, so we came up with a scheme to use an environment variable pointing to the particular developer's releases folder to create an absolute reference. So after a reference is added, we manually edit the project file to change the reference to an absolute path using the environment variable. I've noticed that this can be done with both the HintPath and the ReferencePath, but the only difference I could find between them is that HintPath is resolved at build-time and ReferencePath when the project is loaded into the IDE. I'm not really sure what the ramifications of that are though. I have noticed that VS sometimes rewrites the .csproj.user and I have to rewrite the ReferencePath, but I'm not sure what triggers that. I've heard that it's best not to check in the .csproj.user file since it's user-specific, so I'd like to aim for that, but I've also heard that the HintPath-specified DLL isn't "guaranteed" to be loaded if the same DLL is e.g. located in the project's output directory. Any thoughts on this?

  • Deploy ASP.NET MVC 2 to IIS 7.5 targeting .NET 3.5

    I created an ASP.NET MVC 2 application in Visual Studio 2008. I set the release build to go through the ASP.NET compiler to precompile all the views, minify Javascript and CSS, clean up the web.config, etc. Since the production deployment is going to an IIS6 server, I set up my pseudo-production deployment on my Windows 7 machine to have the application pool run in classic mode targeting the 2.0 runtime. I set up the extensionless handler in the web.config that's necessary and everything worked great. The problem came when I upgraded the solution to Visual Studio 2010. I'm still targeting the 3.5 framework, but now I'm using MSBuild 4.0 since that's what Visual Studio 2010 uses. Everything still compiles correctly because it runs fine under Cassini, but when I deploy it to the same location (same application pool, identity, etc) it now behaves differently. I still have the extensionless handler in the web.config, but now when I navigate to the root of the application it does directory browsing, and any routes that it had previously handled now come back as 404 errors being handled by the StaticFile handler in IIS. I'm at a loss for what changed and is causing the break. I have looked at this question, but I have already verified that all the prerequisite components are installed.

    I have a file system containing directories of "builds", each of which contains a file called "build-info.xml". However some of the builds happened before the build script generated "build-info.xml" so in that case I have a somewhat non-trivial SCons SConstruct that is used to generate a skeleton build-info.xml so that it can be used as a dependency for further rules. I.e.: for each directory: if build-info.xml already exists, do nothing. More importantly, do not remove it on a 'scons --clean'. if build-info.xml does not exist, generate a skeleton one instead - build-info.xml has no dependencies on any other files - the skeleton is essentially minimal defaults. during a --clean, remove build-info.xml if it was generated, otherwise leave it be. If I tried a simple env.Clean(None, "build_info_xml") after but outside the 'if' I found that SCons would clean every single build-info.xml file including those that weren't generated. Not good either. What I'd like to know is how SCons goes about determining which files should be cleaned and which should not. Is there something funny about the way I've used a generator function that prevents SCons from recording this target as a Clean candidate?

In order to test the engine a rails 3 app is necessary. Here is what I am currently doing: Add a rails test app to the root of the gem (myengine) by running: rails new /myengine/rails_app Add Cucumber to /myengine/rails_app/features as you would in a normal Rails app Require the Rails Engine Gem (using :path=>"/myengine") in /myengine/rails_app/Gemfile Add spec to the root directory of the gem: /myengine/spec Include the fixtures in /myengine/spec/fixtures and I add the following to my cuc env.rb: env.rb: Fixtures.reset_cache fixtures_folder = File.join(Rails.root, 'spec', 'fixtures') fixtures = Dir[File.join(fixtures_folder, '*.yml')].map {|f| File.basename(f, '.yml') } Fixtures.create_fixtures(fixtures_folder, fixtures) Do you see any problems with setting it up like this? The tests run fine, but I am a bit hesitant to put the features inside the test rails app. I originally tried putting the features in the root of the gem and I created the test rails app inside features/support, but for some reason my engine would not initialize when I ran the tests, even though I could see the app loading everything else when cuc ran. If anyone is working with Rails Engines and is using cuc and rspec for testing, I would be interested to hear your setup.

    I have two instances of Tomcat 7.0.8 running in the same machine (Tomcat7A and Tomcat7B) and IIS 7.5 acting as front-end load-balancer with isapi-redirector 1.2.31, running on Windows 2008 R2.     I have C++ project in the Ubuntu OS, Eclipse CDT. My final goal is to build the project binaries for FreeBSD OS. The first test. I create simple C++ CDT project with main.cpp file: cout << "OK" << endl; and build it.     I want to get data from mysql database with the help of DataImportHandler so i can create indexes. Now I've configured my Solr instance so that it works on Tomcat (the example admin page), but if I try to change the sorlconfig.xml file i'll get the error message. I'm working with Solr 3.6 So my configuration is: In solrconfig.xml i added: <dataDir>${solr.data.dir:/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2}</dataDir> to specify my working directory and then <requestHandler name="/dataimport" class="org.apache.solr.handler.dataimport.DataImportHandler"> <lst name="defaults"> <str name="config">/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2/conf/data-config.xml</str> </lst> </requestHandler> to specify new request handler. Theese two are my lib directives for DIH.     Is there anyway to load an objective c script at runtime, and run it against the classes/methods/objects/functions in the current iPhone app? The reason i ask is that I've been playing around with iPhone wax, a lua interpreter that can be embedded in an iPhone app, and it works very nicely, in the sense that any object/method/function that's publically available in your Objective C code is automatically bridged, and available in lua. This allows you to rapidly prototype applications by simply making the core of your app be lua files that are in the users documents directory. Just reload the app, and you can test out changes to your lua files without needing to rebuild the app in XCode - a big time saver! But, with Apples recent 3.1.3 SDK stuff, it got me thinking that the safest approach for doing this type of rapid prototypeing would be if you could use Objective C as the interpreted code... That way, worst case scenario, you could just compile it into your app before your release, instead. I have heard that the lua source can be compiled to byte code, and linked in at build time, but I think the ultimate safe thing would be if the scripted source was in objective c, not lua. This leads me to wondering (i've searched, but come up with nothing) if there are any examples on how to embed an Objective C Interpreter in an iPhone app? This would allow you to rapidly prototype your app against the current classes that are built into your binary, and, when your about to deploy your app, instead of running the classes through the in app interpreter, you compile them in instead.

  • Greasemonkey @require jQuery not working "Component not available"

    I've seen the other question on here about loading jQuery in a Greasemonkey. Having tried that method, with this require statement inside my ==UserScript== tags: // @require http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js I still get the following error message in Firefox's error console: Error: Component is not available Source File: file:///Users/greg/Library/Application%20Support/ Firefox/Profiles/xo9xhovo.default/gm_scripts/myscript/jquerymin.js Line: 36 This stops my greasemonkey code from running. I've made sure I included the @require for jQuery and saved my js file before installing it, as required files are only loaded on installation.
