  I am trying to figure out how to create an 'if' statement that uses a time value as a condition. For example: if (time <= 10:00) { score = 3; } else if (time <= 20:00) { score = 5; } else { score = 9; } I know that a string of "5:23" cannot be compared this way but I don't think I can just turn a string value like that directly into an integer. Any thoughts?

  I need to get a WHERE clause to only evaluate certain statements. something like: WHERE field_a = field_b AND (CASE WHEN <PARAM>type</PARAM> = 5 THEN {field_c = 1 OR field_c = 2} WHEN <PARAM>type</PARAM> = 6 THEN {field_c = 3 OR field_c = 4} ELSE field_c = <PARAM>type</PARAM> so that when the Param type = 5, it only checks if field_c = 1 or 2. • Possible to use Bindings only for the SourceChanged event?

  Basically I want to use the WPF Binding framework to "observe" a property in the data context, and when that value changes to call an event handler. I do not actually want to bind it to any target. Sounds simple but from what I can see Binding is too coupled (to the visual tree and various other bits) to be able to use it flexibly. Any thoughts?

• How do I get jquery & mootools to play nice?

  I've been using Mootools 1.2.4 as my JS framework of choice. I've added Checkout by Amazon to one of my pages, and they inject jQuery 1.2.6 into the page and messes up my dollar function (among other things). I have control over Mootools, but not jQuery. I would rather not rewrite my existing code to accomodate jQuery since Checkout by Amazon was an afterthought and plug-in element. Any thoughts or suggestions are recommended. Thanks!

• Changing website favicon dynamically

  I have a web application that's branded according to the user that's currently logged in. I'd like to change the favicon of the page to be the logo of the private label, but I'm unable to find any code or any examples of how to do this. Has anybody successfully done this before? I'm picturing having a dozen icons in a folder, and the reference to which favicon.ico file to use is just generated dynamically along with the HTML page. Thoughts?

• Decorator Design Pattern Use With Service Objects (wSingleton)

  I'm working on a project where I need to add some functionality to a service object and using a decorator to add it in seems like a good fit. However, I've only ever used decorators with simple beans, never on a singleton like a service object. Has anyone ever done this before and what are the pros and cons? In this case I don't think creating a subclass will work so a decorator seems to be a good fit. What are your thoughts on doing this?

• .htaccess authentication from a php script to prevent a browser dialog box

  Using php I authenticate a user, then behind the scenes,they are then again authenticated a second time with a single .htaccess username & password. This would be the same for all users, but I would not want them to have to enter a username and password again and they would now be allowed to enter the password protected directory. I prefer not to use http://username@password:somedomain.com. Any thoughts?

• Weird jQuery UI Slider behavior using Page Up/Down

  I'm using jQuery UI's slider to update a div containing a number. Dragging or using the left/right keys should only allow the user to choose a number between 1 and 5 (this works as intended). However, if the handle has focus and I use page up/down, I start to get rounded values that are well out of the range of 1-5. Anybody experience the same? Thoughts?

  Hello, I have an update panel which contains a few controls, a Place Holder which is dynamically populated (i don't know if this is what is causing the error) and after the a post is made the server is returning 0|error|500| only that, everything is working fine in my development machine, but something is wrong on server (Windows Server 2008, IIS 7) any thoughts about what's happening or any approach to catch that error on server and view the details of the error. thanks.

• Background is flashing upon load momentarily

  I have a div (.header) contained within other divs. When my page loads, momentarily just that one .header div "flashes" white as the page is loading, especially in in Firefox, but a little bit in IE8 too. I can't find what kind of CSS or lack thereof is causing this - there's no images or background color associated with that div. There is a logo.png within the .header. • Trying to open a file in Ruby - Getting TypeError: can't convert String into Integer

• mysql not in my PATH for some reason

  I've installed mysql on several macs and on one of them mysql is not in the path. If I export it it shows up in the path correctly, but upon reboot, disappears. What should I do to get the machine to keep it in the path and what are the machines that DO have it in their path doing differently? Any thoughts appreciated.

The MVVM method avoids using Events to communicate with the VM as they create code-behind. Should I create a Dependency Property to trigger the VM but I don't think I've seen other controls with a "NewRecord" property? Any thoughts?
