(php) how to properly 'save' info in forms completed thus far

So i have a form that on paper is 40 pages long. I was going to take the natural sections of this form, and make separate html forms for each section, with the idea that on the first page there would be a first form, then you hit 'Continue to next section' which essentially is the 'submit' button, which moves the user to section two, etc, until they hit the last section. i am not actually storing the results of the form in a database, but rather sending an email. the idea then is to store the separate form answers (one html form per section in the real form) as arrays or objects in the session, so that if they go back to a section in the form, it repopulates the values they entered since they are stored in the session. the result would be an array in the session storing the results for each of my forms, and i have one form for each section. my question is: is it secure to temporarily store things like SSNs or driver's license numbers as session variables? why or why not?

Link to another file in chrome extension

I want to have a link in the popup.html file for my extension that loads another file (which will be included with the extension) how can I do this? or will I need to keep it in the same page? I tried using this code: <a href="/mail.html"> <img id="newmail_icon" src="" width="16" height="16" /> <span id="newmail">loading</span><br /> </a> But when I click the link nothing happens. I just found out that adding target="_blank" to the link will make it work and open in a new tab, but I can't get it to open in the popup. I have tried target="_self" but it didn't do anything.

HttpResponse.Filter how determine End of stream

I got a HttpResponse.Filter filter that replaces text in the HTML. I've created a class that derives from Stream and implemented the Write method: public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count) I read all bytes from buffer and store them in a private StringBuilder, then I replace the text, and write the string back to the Stream. But how can I determine when the stream is at the end of the stream. I.e. how do I determine when to write back the html (string) to the stream?

Git remove directory

I've got a repository on GitHub (http://github.com/hrickards/PHP-Crypto) for a little project me and a couple of others are working on. My development environment is Aptana Studio, and I use the EGit plugin as Aptana is basically Eclipse underneath. Today the designer sent the HTML and CSS for the website with the images in a folder named img. Previously the images were in a folder called images. Thinking nothing of it and being too lazy to update the CSS and HTML, I simply kept the images in the img directory and commited to Git. However, the GitHub web interface shows both the img and images directories, with the images directory being empty. I've tried deleting the images directory with git rm -r images and git rm images, and even mkdir images; git add images; git rm -r images but whatever I try I get the same result: fatal: pathspec 'images' did not match any files. Has anyone got any advice on how to remove images, or am I misunderstanding Git or something?

Load first page on splashscreen using phonegap on android

Hi i'm using phonegap in conjunction with Jquery mobile. I'm trying to immediately fetch the main page, while showing the user a splashscreen. In PhoneGap for Android i'm using this super.setIntegerProperty("splashscreen", R.drawable.splash); super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html", 2000); While this loads the splash, it also delays the loading of index.html. It it possible to start fetching it right away? Also, if not with phonegap, has anybody done this using JQM instead of phonegap? UPDATE: After using it with a slower loading first page (doing a json request) it kinda looks like the splash screens shows for a longer period of time, so this appears to be the default behavior

How to prevent direct access to my JSON service?

I have a JSON web service to return home markers to be displayed on my Google Map. Essentially, http://example.com calls the web service to find out the location of all map markers to display like so: http://example.com/json/?zipcode=12345 And it returns a JSON string such as: {"address": "321 Main St, Mountain View, CA, USA", ...} So on my index.html page, I take that JSON string and place the map markers. However, what I don't want to have happen is people calling out to my JSON web service directly. I only want http://example.com/index.html to be able to call my http://example.com/json/ web service ... and not some random dude calling the /json/ directly. Quesiton: how do I prevent direct calling/access to my http://example.com/json/ web service?

Jquery load() help

Hi. I am creating a portfolio page for m personal site. I have a slider with approx 20 anchors that link to projects I have worked on, each one contains a client logo that when clicked should load some html content then fade that content into a container div on the same page. I have been advised to use the JQuery method load() which seems straight forward. The question I have is do I have to repeat the following code for each of the 20 anchors as the url is different for each one or is there a more efficient way? $('a#project1').click(function() { $('#work').load('ajax/project1.html'); } Also would I have to use the unload() method first to ensure the div I am loading into is empty? Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. XSL: Dead or not dead

I'm currently taking on a new project at home. In this project I'm going to be generating HTML emails. For this purpose, I believe XSL to be a good candidate. However, I have heard people say that XSL is a dead language, and if it's not that it is on it's way out. In fact, MS has been very leary to support XSL 2.0. Personally I feel that any time you are going from text to text, it is a great tool. Such as: Generating HTML e-mails Creating Open Office Docs Generating another XML doc What are your thoughts? Is it dead, or is it still a viable, usefull tool?

I have been working on the integration testing of a webapp using watin. The webapp uses fckeditor as one of the richtext controls. How to Cache image when src is some action which returns image?

There are lots of questions about how to force the browser to cache or not to cache any image. But, I am facing slightly different situation. In several places of my web page, I am using following code for the images. <img title="<%= Html.Encode(Model.title)%>" src="<%= Url.Action(MVC.FrontEnd.Actions.RetrieveImage(Model.SystemId))%>"/> So, in the generated HTML it is like <img title="blahblah" src="http://xyz.com/FrontEnd/Actions/RetrieveImage?imageId=X"> Where X is some integer. I have seen that though the browser (IE or Mozilla) caches images by default, it is not caching images generated by above method. Is there any way I can tell browser to cache images of above type? Perl: Edit hyperlinks in nested tags that aren't on separate lines

I wrote the following perl script to recursively loop through a directory and in all html files for img/script/a tags do the following: Convert the entire url to lowercase Replace spaces and %20 with underscores The script works great except when an image tag in wrapped with an anchor tag. Is there a way to modify the current script to also be able to manipulate the links for nested tags that are not on separate lines? addEventListener gone after appending innerHTML

Okay, so i have the following html added to a site using javascript/greasemonkey. (just sample) *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* (excuse me, i've had to replace the '<' '' with * since hyperlinks for new users aren't allowed!) and i've also added a click event listener for the elements. All works fine up to this point, the click event gets fired when i click the element. But... i have another function in the script, which upon a certain condition, modifies that html, ie it appends it, so it looks like: *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* *a id='123'*Hello*/a* but when this is done, it breaks the listeners i added for the first two elements... nothing happens when i click them. if i comment out the call to the function which does the appending, it all starts working again! help please...

Getting jQuery slideshow animation to stop on click

I have a slide show built with jQuery that pauses on hover. It has a group of thumbnails sitting on top of the image that advances the image when clicked, otherwise the slideshow just auto-rotates through all the images. There is also a +/- to expand and contract a caption related to each image. I want to have the slideshow's automatic advancing to stop if one of the thumbnails is clicked, or the +/-. Basically, just stop whenever a user clicks anywhere within the gallery (div class=".homeImg"). I'm having a major brain fart in getting this working properly and could use some advice. I'm writing a portal in PHP that allows users to upload DICOM images, and allow users of the same group to view those DICOM images through a Java Applet. The html code to display images through the viewer looks like this: <APPLET archive=radscaper.jar codebase=./ code=com.divinev.radscaper.Main.class width=100% height=100%> <PARAM NAME=Config VALUE=config.xml> <PARAM NAME=DicomImg1 VALUE="relative_path1/image1.dcm"> </APPLET> So the generated html passes in a file url to the java applet. The problem I'm facing is - files would be stored in a public directory and easily accessed by anyone knowing the file url. Is there a way I can restrict file access to a certain user group?

I would like to compile my application as: MyAppDebug - in debug mode and just MyApp - in release mode Does anyone know if this is possible? Edit: It seems some people are questioning the reasoning behind the question, so I'll explain a little further: I'm working on a Silverlight application which gets automatically uploaded to our test site when I to a "build solution". The trouble is, the test team are now testing the online version, whilst I work on a new one. So, I want to have a url like .\MyApp.html for the regular version that the QA team will test and then .\MyApp.html?version=debug for the current version that I'm working on.

Hi, is there a method in JavaScript by which I can find out the path/uri of the executing script. For example: index.html includes a JavaScript file stuff.js and since stuff.js file depends on ./commons.js, it wants to include it too in the page. Problem is that stuff.js only knows the relative path of ./commons.js from itself and has no clue of full url/path. index.html includes stuff.js file as <script src="http://example.net/js/stuff.js?key=value" /> and stuff.js file wants to read the value of key. How to?
