    If I have a custom class Person which has three variables (which are propertized and synthesized): NSString* theName; float* theHeight; int theAge; Person instances are stored in an NSArray 'Group'. There is only one Group. What is the best way of string and loading the Group in NSUserDefaults? (bearing in mind that float and int are not legal for NSUserDefaults)

  • Fake location for the device (custom)

    I know there are a few apps out there to fake a devices location but specifically what i want to do is use a location grabbed from a url. What direction should I look for setting the location on the device. The scenario i have is a jailbroken Wi-Fi iPad tethered to a nexus one. The nexus one would host a background service that when a request is recieved, it would respond with gps data of its current location. The jailbroken ipad would have a background service that either updated the location on a time interval, or on a per request basis (depending on how i have to implement it) by submitting a request to the tethered nexus one service. That data would then be set on the ipad and an application requesting location would get the service data. The goal is to recreate the location faker app's functionality with the exception of the spoofed location comes from the nexus ones gps via the service but i have not yet found out how to set the location data for the device. I can ofcourse implement this in a per app basis but it would be awesome to have any app be able to use it.

    I have been working on this for about 2 days, so i thought i share my learnings with you. The question is: Is it possible to make the width of a cell in a grouped UITableView smaller? The answer is: No. But there are two ways you can get around this problem. Solution #1: A thinner table It is possible to change the frame of the tableView, so that the table will be smaller. This will result in UITableView rendering the cell inside with the reduced width. A solution for this can look like this: -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { CGFloat tableBorderLeft = 20; CGFloat tableBorderRight = 20; CGRect tableRect = self.view.frame; tableRect.origin.x += tableBorderLeft; // make the table begin a few pixels right from its origin tableRect.size.width -= tableBorderLeft + tableBorderRight // reduce the width of the table tableView.frame = tableRect; } Solution #2: Having cells rendered by images This solution is described here: http://cocoawithlove.com/2009/04/easy-custom-uitableview-drawing.html I hope this information is helpful to you.     I need to create a table view with 1 or 2 sections, depending on certain conditions. The first section needs to contain all of the remaining months of the current year, and the second section contains the preceding months of the next year, up to but not including the current month. Example: 2009 November December 2010 January February March April May June July August September October This would be the scenario with the current month of November. However, if it were January, there would be only 1 section containing all 12 months of the current year. This all needs to be dependent on the date settings of the phone.

    Hi, I'm developing an application that will most likely be preinstalled on devices. It will be also available on Market. Is there a way to update those instances that are not downloaded through Market, since Market won't notify users about an update. I was thinking about, as suggested here, trying to contact my site periodically, and when update is available, download it. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this update automatically, so that user doesn't have to do anything (like running the package manually). Or, when my site shows update is available, to offer users an update through Market, even though it's not installed through Market. Thanks!

    Hello. I'm using Core Data and I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to store an array of integers in one of my Core Data entities. Currently, my entities contain various arrays of objects that are more complex than a single number, so it makes sense to represent those arrays as tables in my DB and attach them using relationships. If I want to store a simple array of integers, do I need to create a new table with a single column and attach it using a one-to-many relationship? Or is there a more simple way?     Let me try it: If I don't set this, then the default value is YES. So when I delete an managed object from the context, the context propagates this immediately to the persistent store so the object is gone? And when I set this to NO, then objects are deleted from the persistent store only when calling -save? Is that really true? I mean: If it was true, then the default behavior is that once you call the context to delete an object, the object is gone. Lets assume you're not using an undo manager. So... gone. Right? No rollback possible? Or can it still be recovered with a rollback?

  • RTL shows numbers at the end of lines

    Hi. Trying to display a hebrew string that starts with a number, always displays the number at the end of the string like so: 1. ??? ???? ????? but I need the number to be displayed at the right side of the text- any solution to that? It happens with UILabel & UITextField & UITextView and trying to write the number at the left side also produce the same resault. Playing with combinations of UITextAlignment will doesn't help.
