• BCM 4311 Wireless Not Working on 11.10-Tried All Forum Suggestions

  Hi I've spent hours trying all the suggestions listed on Forums on this problem all over the internet and I still can't get my wireless working. It's very discouraging because it might force me to go back to Windows which I hate. Can someone help? Perhaps I can give you some information to help identify what the issue is? b43 isn't coming up in my list of drivers...just Broadcom STA which doesn't work.   When I write programs I using pass by value or pass by reference always seem to be logical methods. When learning about different programming languages I came across pass by name. Pass by name is a parameter passing method that waits to evaluate the parameter value until it is used. See Stack Overflow pass by name question for more information on the method. What I would like to know is: what are some good examples and/or reasons to use pass by name and should it be re-introduced into some more modern languages.

  In Ubuntu 12.04 and previous versions, I can easily install smbfs and running smb://server/share from Nautilus works! But, in 12.10, I can't install smbfs. Trying to install it from the terminal, I see this that the package is obsolete: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package smbfs is not available, but is referred to by another package. • I am new to game development, what do I need to know? [closed]

  I am unsure if this question is a duplicate, I hope it isn't. Are there any resources on the terminology when doing game development? Because, even if you tell me to learn some graphics API, how would I understand the things it does, if I am not well into the terminology(voxel,mesh,polygon,shading). What about the math that is involved in the game(geometry) or the concept of the gravity,collision detection in the game and their respective maths? I am very bad at math, never was good, because I have ADHD, but I won't give up just yet. I look at a game, and I see "textures", but how am I walking on them, how do they take substance so I don't fall off of them? And depth? This is what I need information about, not just a link to a library like SDL(which I have compiled under MinGW and MinGW-W64) and tell me to learn it and the cliché answer "start simple/small". I hope the question(s) are not too vague.

This logic is now built into SPRequestModule. The mobile view is pretty damned amazing. Even though the set of pages for mobile access is completely different, SharePoint has an entirely separate set of controls for the mobile pages. These are in the Microsoft.SharePoint.MobileControls namespace which inherit from Microsoft ASP.NET controls in the System.Web.UI.MobileControls namespace. • How can I obtain in-game data from Warcraft 3 from an external process?

  I am implementing a behavior algorithm and would like to test it with my lovely Warcraft III game to watch how it will fight against real players. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to obtain information about in-game state (units, structures, environment, etc.) from the running WC3 game. My algorithm needs access to the hard drive and possibly distributed computing, that's why JASS (WC3's editor language) isn't appropriate; I need to run my algorithm from a separate process. Direct3D hooking is an approach, but it wasn't done for WC3 yet and a significant drawback of that approach would be the inability to watch how the AI performs online, since it uses the viewport to issue commands. How I read in-game data from WC3 in a different process in a fastest and easiest way?

• Ad networks that will serve via HTTPS?

  I've built a website with 160K page views per month that serves every page over HTTPS. The recent FireSheep news will probably increase the adoption of "HTTPS everywhere" but it's been very hard to find ad networks and affiliates that will serve their content via HTTPS. I don't want to use these because I don't want my visitors to get "broken security" notification from their browsers (and of course, relevant ads would be a leak of private information). I'm tired of spending a ton of time signing up with ad networks and affiliates only to find out down the road that they don't support HTTPS (e.g. AdSense). Can anyone suggest any options or provide a pointer to a list of these somewhere?

• Using google maps as an input method

  I'm wondering if it's possible to use gmaps pretty much as a type of input. Normally for Location a user has to enter: street address town/city state/province postal code country This seems too clunky to me, does anyone here know of a more elegant process? My perfect address-entering interface is a gmaps search bar with a map under it. When the user clicks a marker instead of a speech bubble containing location information they get one containing a submit button or equivalent. I'm not sure anything like this has been implemented before.

• Network printer gets disabled occasionally

  I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and have a HP-Laserjet-3005P network printer. Occasionally (perhaps related to rebooting) the printer, which is setup as the default printer, becomes disabled. After realizing that I'm not getting anything printed, I must then open printing preferences and click on "enabled". Then it prints happily until the next time that it becomes disabled... Any ideas why this is happening and/or how I could fix it? I know I'm giving very little information, I can't think of anything else to give...if there's something I should be providing, please let me know.

I need to get the nearest color available in the tbl_Color table. The expected anaser is "#5D8AA8 - Air Force Blue". This is because #5D8AA8 is the nearest color for #5D8AA7. Do we have any algorithm for finding the nearest color? How to write it using C# / Java? • SEO penalty for landing page redirects

  Using ebay as an example- lets say I have a large number of items whose URLs' look like this: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-VW-Vanagon-manual-seats-seven-/250953153841 I want to give my client the ability to put links to these items on their website EASILY, without knowing or checking my URL. So I created a redirect service that will map their identifier with my URL: ebay.com/fake_redirect_service/shared_identifier9918 would redirect to the link above. This works great- my clients can easily setup these links with information they already have, and the user will see the page as usual. So on to the problem... I'm concerned that this redirecting service will have a negative impact on my SEO ranking. Having a landing page redirect you immediately to a different URL seems like something a typical spam site would do. Will this hurt me? Any better solutions?

  I could use some help troubleshooting choppy streaming audio. The problem is jerky playback regardless of audio or video with audio. Both Chromium and Firefox have the problem, however files played directly on the machine with Rhythmbox sound just fine. I'm running 12.04 LTS on a C2D T9300. • Are there any free hit counters that don't track users?

  Are there any free services that increment a simple hit counter without tracking the users of the site? I would like to know how many visitors there are to my site, excluding bots. I don't need detailed information like unique visitors or where the user is from (in fact, that's exactly what I don't want). I have been researching free hit counters, and it seems that most (all?) of them display advertisements and their terms of service indicate that they can use the data they collect from the client site however they want. Google Analytics also does this and tracks users across sites. The site is static HTML, so an external link or iframe of some sort is easiest for me to implement. I could switch to a Ruby or Node.js back-end, in which case lots of other options open up (like Ruby impressionist and more low-level implementations), but my hosting service is pretty limited. If the answer to my question is simply "no," what are my other options?

• How do I create a subdomain for a site hosted by someone who does not allow it?

  I want to create a subdomain for a site hosted by Jimdo (a DIY website builder). Jimdo does not allow subdomains however. I am trying to find a workaround where a subdomain is hosted elsewhere but everything else remains as it is. E.g. I use their email service and I want to keep it. The domain is not hosted by Jimdo, but by a host that allows me to edit my zones. It points to the Jimdo NS. I have independent hosting where I have NS information. This is where I want to host my subdomain. My thinking was that I could use ZoneEdit as a "fork" that allows me to keep using my Jimdo page like before and, at the same time, directs a subdomain to another host. Provided this is possible: Question: How do I configure ZoneEdit CNAME or NS records to forward visitors to my website and my email to my Jimdo mail account while pointing a subdomain to another host?

  I would like to know what is the parameters to be considered while developing a crawler like that of Screaming Frog. Am looking forward for information on do's and dont's of webpage crawling. What are the problems the crawler may infuse on the webpages like loadtime (maybe?) or anything that effects webpage during crawling. What are the rules the crawler needs to follow etc. Basically anything info that makes the crawler look good and accurate. Just point me in a right direction to achieve it..
