    C++ has several types of styles: MFC, Boost, Google, etc. I would like to examine these styles and determine which one is best for my projects, but I want to read from the official style guidebook. Does anyone have an official guide that they typically use? Here are two that I found. I am writing a program in Java using geogoogle (Google Geocoder Java API) http://geo-google.sourceforge.net/ I need from two specific points to get the walking directions between these points and also these info to be exported in a KML file. Do you know how can I do it from Java? Is there an API that I can use? Perhaps making a call from the java program to google and handle the result - but how can it be done? Thanks in advance. PS.     Hi SO folks, I didn't managed to find an Lua client/api for TokyoTyrant. Such Api exists for TokyoCabinet, but not for TT. And Perl and Ruby API exists for TT. TT provides a native binary protocol, a memcached-compatible protocol, and an HTTP-oriented protocol. So my questions are : 1/ Do you think using the memcached (using luamemcached) or the HTTP protocol (using luaSocket) is "enough" for most / simple usage, and so a native Lua api is not necessary ? (the app is a simple uuid storage/distributor) ? 2/ Does it make sense to not use TokyoTyrant, but only TokyoCabinet, and use Lua at the application level to provide network and concurrent access to TC, using, say, Copas (Copas is , from their website, "a dispatcher based on coroutines that can be used by TCP/IP servers." ?   • How do I access a tomcat 5.5 installation via localhost running on Virtual PC 2007?

    I have a tomcat installation of 5.5 up and running on a Virtual PC with a fresh XP pro SP3. Launching tomcat gives the standard messages: INFO: Find registry server-registry.xml at classpath resource Apr 12, 2010 11:43:44 AM org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina start INFO: Server startup in 3576 ms However, I cannot for the life of me connect to http://localhost:8080. I've also tried http://127.0.0.1:8080 with no success. This is on the virtual PC itself that I cannot connect to the server - I haven't bothered to try it on the host machine. Can anyone provide any information on why this may be happening? It's a fresh install of tomcat using Sun's JRE 5.0 (I know, EOL, technical requirements make me have to use 5.0 and not a newer JRE).

    I haven't been able to find an understandable explanation of how to actually use Python's itertools.groupby() function. What I'm trying to do is this: take a list - in this case, the children of an objectified lxml element - divide it into groups based on some criteria, and then later iterate over each of these groups separately. I've reviewed the documentation (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-functions.html), and the examples, (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-example.html), but I've had trouble trying to apply them beyond a simple list of numbers. So, how do I use of itertools.groupby()? Is there another technique I should be using? Pointers to good "prerequisite" reading would also be appreciated.

    I recently coded something where it wasn't known if the end code would reside in a subdomain (http://user.domain.com/) or in a subdomain (http://domain.com/user), and I was lost as to the best practice for these unknown scenarios. I could thinks of a couple: Use absolute paths (/css/styles.css) and modrewrite if it ends up being /user Have a settings file and declare a variable with the path (<? php echo $domain . "/css/styles" ?>) Use relative paths (../css/styles.css). What is the best way to handle this?

  • Serving files inside of directories with ruby and mongrel

    I made a simple web server in Ruby using the Mongrel gem. It works great for files in a single directory, but I run into some path issues when inside a directory. Lets say we have 2 files in a directory named "dir1", "index.html" and "style.css". If we visit http://host/dir1/index.html, the file is found, but style.css isn't because it's trying to load "style.css" from http://host/style.css instead of inside the directory. index.html is trying to load style.css as if its in the same directory as itself. <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> I can get the file if I enter the full path of style.css: /dir1/style.css but it doesn't seem to remember it's already inside a directory and that no path before a filename should serve from the current directory.   • Doctrine Mssql uniqueidentifier isn't cast as char or nvarchar when retrieved from the database.

    When I retrieve a record from the database which has a column of type "uniqueidentifier", Doctrine fills it with "null" rather than the unique id from the database. Some research and testing has brought this down to a PDO/dblib driver issue. When directly querying via PDO, null is returned in place of the unique id. For reference, http://trac.doctrine-project.org/ticket/1096, has a bit on this, however, it was updated 11 months ago with no comment for resolution. A way around this, as mentioned at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=24752&edit=1, is to cast the column as a char. However, it doesn't seem Doctrine exposes the native field type outside of generating models which makes it a bit hard to detect uniqueidentifier types and cast them internally when building the sql query. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

    I'm attempting to create a backup of my client's existing svn repositories, which is publicly available over http. If possible, I'd like to be able to make new repositories automatically, from any computer, without having to give console access to the server to external parties (i.e. the users could do a ls on my svn repo dir) My problem is that I need to know the list of svn repositories on the server - it isn't a fixed list, since the user will add new repositories over time. I'm able to list the repositories on an html page via Apache's mod_dav_svn module, using the SVNListParentPath On directive. I got this page: http://svn.ohwr.org/ My question is: what is the easiest way to obtain a usable list of such repositories? I'll need to parse that list in order to make syncs, probably using shell commands. Must I parse the HTML with shell commands, or is there a better way to get that list?

  • Rails, REST Architecture and HTML 5: Cross domain requests with pre-flight requests

    While working on a project to make our site HTML 5 friendly, we were eager to embrace the new method for Cross Domain requests (no more posting through hidden iframes!!!). Using the Access Control specification we begin setting up some tests to verify the behaviour of various browsers. The current Rails RESTful architecture relies on the four HTTP verbs: GET, POST, PUT, DELETE. However in the Access Control spec, it dictates that non-simple methods (PUT, DELETE) require a pre-flight request using the HTTP verb OPTIONS. In addition during testing we discovered that Firefox 3.5.8 pre-flight POST requests as well. My question is this. Is anyone aware of any project for the Rails framework working to address the issue? If not, any opinions about the best strategy to support the OPTIONS method, since it has to support the routes for all the POST, PUT, DELETE methods?

    I was looking for a way to route http://www.example.com/WebService.asmx to http://www.example.com/service/ using only the ASP.NET 3.5 Routing framework without needing to configure the IIS server. Until now I have done what most tutorials told me, added a reference to the routing assembly, configured stuff in the web.config, added this to the Global.asax: protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { RouteCollection routes = RouteTable.Routes; routes.Add( "WebService", new Route("service/{*Action}", new WebServiceRouteHandler()) ); } ...created this class: public class WebServiceRouteHandler : IRouteHandler { public IHttpHandler GetHttpHandler(RequestContext requestContext) { // What now? } } ...and the problem is right there, I don't know what to do. The tutorials and guides I've read use routing for pages, not webservices. Is this even possible? Ps: The route handler is working, I can visit /service/ and it throws the NotImplementedException I left in the GetHttpHandler method.

Even if I embed a search-functionality in my Java application I could use SolrJ to avoid the HTTP trade-off when using Solr. So, when would you recommend to use "pure-Lucene"? Does it have a better performance or requires less RAM? Is it better unit-testable? PS: I am aware of this question.

If I then debug inside the page.aspx code (which of course is ASP .NET) the value of Request["pasword"] is actually this, vtakyoj#"5 Which is the original value. How does that work? I would have thought that I would have to go, HttpUtility.UrlDecode(Request["pswd"], Encoding.UTF8) To get the original value. Hope this makes sense? Thanks.

    I've got a ListActivity and ListView and I've bound some data to it. The data shows up fine, and I've also registered a context menu for the view.     Hi all, so this is the scenario: I have a base class for all login-controlled pages: public class SessionControlledPage : Page { protected virtual void Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.AddHeader("Refresh", Convert.ToString(Session.Timeout * 60 + 5)); if (Session.IsNewSession) { Response.Redirect("~/login.aspx"); } } } And a regularpage.aspx page that inherints from the base class: public partial class RegularPage : SessionControlledPage { override protected void Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) { base.Page_Load(sender, e); Server.Transfer("~/otherpage.aspx"); } } Now let's say the original URL was http://localhost/regularpage.aspx and that Session.Timeout = 5. The problem appears when the refresh happens after the transfer takes place. I'm getting a 404 Not Found error and the URL changes for http://localhost/305. Notice that 5 * 60 + 5 = 305. Do you know why is this happening? got a solution? PD: I use transfer because I need to access some properties of regularpage.aspx on otherpage.aspx, maybe you could provide another solution for this too.
