  • SelectedIndexChanged for programmatically created dropdownlist in ASP.NET fires multiple times.

    Consider the following: dim dropdownlist1 as new dropdownlist dim dropdownlist2 as new dropdownlist dim dropdownlist3 as new dropdownlist dropdownlist1.AutoPostBack = true dropdownlist2.AutoPostBack = true dropdownlist3.AutoPostBack = true AddHandler dropdownlist1.SelectedIndexChanged, AddressOf SomeEvent AddHandler dropdownlist2.SelectedIndexChanged, AddressOf SomeEvent AddHandler dropdownlist3.SelectedIndexChanged, AddressOf SomeEvent The SomeEvent fires as expected when any of the dropdown's selection is changed. However if say DropdownList2 has a selection made then I make a selection with either DropDownList1 or DropdownList3, then SomeEvent fires again. What is causing this behavior and how do I get just a single raising of that event? I suspect that when the viewstate for the dynamcially created dropdownlists is restored and the selection restored, then the event is fired because technically the selected index did change when the control was recreated. On x-axis only two number comes from database so i need to bind only these two values and rest of them must not be visible.     I have built a blog application using Ruby on Rails. In the application I have posts and tags. Post has_many :tags and Tag belongs_to :post. In the /views/posts/index.html view I want to display two things. First is a listing of all posts displayed 'created_at DESC' and then in the side bar I am wanting to reference my Tags table, group records, and display as a link that allows for viewing all posts with that tag. With the code below, I am able to display the tag groups and succesfully display all posts with that tag. There are two problems with it thought. /posts view, the code seems to be referencing the Tag table and displaying the post multiple times, directly correlated to how many tags that post has. (i.e. if the post has 3 tags it will display the post 3 times). /posts view, only displays posts that have Tags.     Hey guys/gals! I had a question for you, something that I can't seem to find the solution for... Basically, I have a model called Environment, and I am passing all of them to a view, and there are particular environments that I would like to exclude. Now, I know there is a exclude function on a queryset, but I can't seem to figure out how to use it for multiple options... For example, I tried this but it didn't work: kwargs = {"name": "env1", "name": "env2"} envs = Environment.objects.exclude( kwards ) But the only thing that it will exclude is the last "name" value in the list of kwargs. I understand why it does that now, but I still can't seem to exclude multiple objects with one command. Any help is much appreciated! Shawn

    I'd like to center an image in a page both vertically and horizontally even when the browser is resized. Currently, I use this CSS: .centeredImage { position: fixed; top: 50%; left: 50%; margin-top: -50px; margin-left: -150px; } And this HTML: <img class="centeredImage" src="images/logo.png"> It centers in FF but not IE (image center is placed at upper left corner).     I want the properties section of the Castle config to be included from another file. I.e: <castle> <include uri="file://properties.config" /> </castle> The properties.config would then look like: <properties> <smtp>10.10.10.10</smtp> <username>john</username> </properties> I can get the include to work for components but not for properties. If I try to do this with properties I get an exception thrown. Is this a limitation of Castle?

    I just pay for the deluxe plan in godaddy for my website but I have a problem, I created the database in mssql and when I click to webadmin ,it redirects me to: http://mssql.myname.com/silentlogon.aspx with the message: This webpage is not available. But if I create a mysql database everything is ok, idk what I am doing wrong , I know I cant contact GoDaddy but the line is busy or when I talk to them they don't understand.   • Determining your websites color scheme

    One of the biggest issues I have, from a UI standpoint, when building a new website is figuring out what colors I will use and of those colors, do they actually work well together. I found this site that has really helped me out and I figured I would share it with all of you and also get some responses back about either sites similar or other ways that you get/figure out your color schemes. Here is the site that I currently use: http://kuler.adobe.com/ With Adobe Kuler, you can chose a base color and it will suggest 5 colors, including your color, that go well with one another. You can, of course, modify the colors it chooses. Also,one of the main features I use, is the image color matching. You can upload an image and it will determine a color scheme based on the colors of the image. So if you have a logo and want to use the colors of the logo, then this works perfectly for you.   • What can't I build in Silverlight?

    First, I know that Silverlight needs to be embedded in a website, usually an asp page. I understand I need a delivery boy. My question is this; What types of apps/projects are so filled with technological hurdles as to make them ridiculous to do in Silverlight versus ASP.net? I know that with perseverance and flexibility I can probably make EVERY app in Silverlight, in some version or another, but which ones would be blatantly simple in, say ASP.net(or even WPF) but quite complicated in Silverlight? Basically what I am asking is if there is any reason I shouldn't consider Silverlight my first stop for every problem, obvious exceptions not with standing(a service or console). For me specifically, at this point, I am only building in house apps.

  • actionscript swf: why the swf is cached in one web server

    Hi, I have one swf and a program to load this swf. The swf is put in a server. I encounter a weird problem that if I put this swf in serverA, each time my program will issue a http request to that webserver(with 304 response). But when I move the swf from serverA to serverB, some weird things happen, the progrom will only issue the first time http request, and after that, it didn't send any http request, it looks like it uses the cache in the disk. I wonder is how can I configure serverA make the behavior the same as serverB, as I guess the problem may exists in the http response that make the program not retrieving the swf from serverB any more.     I love webpy, it's really quite Pythonic but I don't like having to add the url mappings and create a class, typically with just 1 function inside it. I'm interested in minimising code typing and prototyping fast. Does anyone have any up and coming suggestions such as Bobo, Bottle, Denied, cherrypy for a lover of webpy's good things? What makes it a good reason? Also I don't mind missing out (strongly) text based templating systems, I use object oriented HTML generation.

  • Large file uploads from web pages

    Hi folks, I code primarily in PHP and Perl. I have a client who is insisting on seeking video submissions (any encoding) from the public via one of their pages rather than letting YouTube do its job. Server in question is a virtual machine and I can adjust ini settings for max post, max upload size etc as needed. My initial thought is to use a Flash based uploader with PHP on the back end but I wondered if someone might have useful advice and experience on the subject? Peace JG
