  Hi, I would like to start publishing some news articles from time to time. An option would be to create a new web page for every article but this sounds like it can be done easier. For instance I noticed clear channel uses some kind of feed, like: http://www.z100.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=104650&article=7011404 I don't know what it means and how it works but looks like a nice way to get the article from some kind of database I guess? Does someone knows how this works, or some other way to create new articles etc, some dynamical functionality for instance to generate links to the articles and get the right article from a database for example. thanks!

• How to use the correct Google OpenID url to login to my site?

  Hello everyone: I am trying to implement OpenID as one preferred option to my next web app here The code is taken from this tutorial and works if I use my openID from myopenid.com However, I believe most people would just love to use their everyday email address as their openID, as far as I know, Google, Yahoo, and some other big players have already done this in their systems. My question is: how could I find the correct "url" to enter in the form to login? I used my Google OpenID account for StackOverflow and it works just fine. I try to copy my openID like this: www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=aitoawllano10bzdzp3ht0diffry0qt6_j2ls-m And paste it directly into my form, but it doesn't work. I also tried to remove the url parameter, but that won't do, either. Thanks a lot in advance for any tips and suggestions.

• Getting websites to detect our mobile browser

  I've been asked to find out a sensible way to make the majority of popular websites detect our browser - which is functionally complete, but is running on rather constrained hardware - as a "mobile" browser. The idea is that the heaviest popular websites seem to have mobile versions, which render much faster and fit better on the screen. I've looked at the inverse question, which tells me that there isn't an obvious standard way of doing it - http://www.brainhandles.com/techno-thoughts/detecting-mobile-browsers is a case in point. This is borne out by looking at a variety of User-Agent strings from popular mobile and desktop browsers. So far the best idea we can come up with is to add "Mobile" to the string somewhere, since this is the main visible difference between Safari for iPad/iPhone and for Windows/Mac. Does anyone have a better idea?

I need to give users the ability to pick a business card template and then update the text with their own information. Then I need to create a PDF proof for the user to sign off on, as well as create a hi-rez pdf for print. Can anyone point me in the right direction?   Im looking for a (free) solution to a bookingcalender. Among many candidates Ive found the Jquery Full Calender which has many cool features. One of the reason that I like this one is because it has "drag and drop" and resize, which I also need. But I also need to have the dayview where I the columms monday, tuesday, wedensday, thursday friday .... gets replaced with fx. Room1, Room2, Room3, Room4, Room5, Room6, Room7. • JQuery plugin to animate overlay

  I'm looking for a JQuery plugin to animate the appearance and disappearance of an overlay div. Something like what Rackspace has here: http://www.rackspacecloud.com/ After staring at the page for 30 seconds or so, a div comes sliding down from the top asking you whether you want to chat with a rep. If you ignore the div for a period of time it slides back up. I know I could hand code all this using timers and animate() and such, but hoping someone has done it for us already. Any ideas?

• How can Perl's XML::Simple ignore HTML embedded in XML?

  I have an XML file that I am pulling from the web and parsing. One of the items in the XML is a 'content' value that has HTML. I am using XML::Simple::XMLin to parse the file like so: $xml= eval { $data->XMLin($xmldata, forcearray => 1, suppressempty=> +'') }; When I use Data::Dumper to dump the hash, I discovered that SimpleXML is parsing the HTML into the hash tree: 'content' = { 'div' = [ { 'xmlns' = 'http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml', 'p' = [ { 'a' = [ { 'href' = 'http://miamiherald.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b26169e20133ec6f4491970b-pi', 'style' = 'FLOAT: left', 'img' = [ etc..... This is not what I want. I want to just grab content inside of this entry. How do I do this?

• Snatching the code of a Facebook fan page canvas?

  I am trying to snatch the code of this fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/See-oho-nieps-YothG-RRofiLe/106340746065367 I need the function that suggests the fan page to the users friends automatically (not for spamming purposes as the above fan page is used for). Now by looking at the source, I know that the code is under the pagelet_tab_content, but not all of it. I have copied that part and pasted it into my own fan page. The layout looks identical but the functions does not work. Obviously something is missing. For instance, I cant find the in the source which is strange, as I know for definate that it is being used. I have been working with this all day without any result. Maybe there is someone more intelligent and experienced that could help me out?

• How can developers use a similar tracking link to Google's results page?

  I've read heaps of pages of people trying to implement some kind of tracking system similar to the way Google reroutes search link. Eg: Search "Facebook" in Google, open in a new window, and the link changes to something like: "http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBkQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F&rct=j&q=Facebook&ei=sksZTZexJobJccXnxZYK&usg=AFQjCNHTTNi-O4Qgrg6kvGVfKJuRqbuOKw&cad=rja" I'm guessing Google tracks that click and then redirects to the actual site by reading the url parameter. What I wanted to know is if there was a simple way that you can make this kind of functionality work using an onclick event - just change the link href after being clicked to redirect? There's a few threads, but from what I could find, nobody has actually succeeded without problems or limitations. Thanks in advance.

• Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

  I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it? • Apache rewrite to add a directory to REQUEST_URI not working on localhost running wamp.

  I'm running wamp on Vista (Apache v2.2.11) and have projects setup such that http://localhost/projectx is the base directory for projectx. Now, I want that requests for http://localhost/projectx/somepage/extra will rewrite to http://localhost/projectx/PUBLIC/somepage/extra To that end I have a file in C:\wamp\www\projectx\.htacces that is this simple: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /projectx RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/PUBLIC RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /PUBLIC$1 [L] I can't for the life of me figure out why this doesn't work. The error I'm getting is "The requested URL /PUBLIC was not found on this server". Thanks.

  Hi, We have a sitemap at our site, http://www.gamezebo.com/sitemap.xml Some of the urls in the sitemap, are being reported in the webmaster central as being blocked by our robots.txt, see, gamezebo.com/robots.txt ! Although these urls are not Disallowed in Robots.txt. There are other such urls aswell, for example, gamezebo.com/gamelinks is present in our sitemap, but it's being reported as "URL restricted by robots.txt". Also I have this parse result in the Webmaster Central that says, "Line 21: Crawl-delay: 10 Rule ignored by Googlebot". What does it mean? I appreciate your help, Thanks.

  Hello, I have a question that is probably very simple, but I cannot find an answer here or on Google. I am loading a SWF in an HTML page the following way (using JavaScript): AC_FL_RunContent( "src", "${swf}", .... "type", "application/x-shockwave-flash", "pluginspage", "http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" ); I have tried to add the line: "style", "visibility: hidden" But it has not worked. I can later on make it visible or hidden using: document.getElementById("flash").style.visibility = "hidden"; But I would like to have the flash invisible and make it visible later on, but by adding a parameter in the AC_FL_RunContent. I'm looking at two products: Appcelerator Titanium (http://www.appcelerator.com/) and MonoTouch (http://monotouch.net/) I like MonoTouch because of it's standing in the Mono development communitity and it's C#. In saying that Appcelerator looks very straight forward using HTML and Javascript and targets Android too (which is overtaking the iPhone). The apps I'm looking to develop are line of business applications with data entry, syncing with back office, etc. Can anyone give their opinion on the pro's / con's of using these tools or any experiences. • Can't use ProcessWindowStyle.Minimized to start Firefox instance minimized?

  I'm having trouble using Process.Start with Firefox. I want to start a new instance of Firefox in a minimized window. The following works fine with Internet Explorer, notepad, etc.: ProcessStartInfo p = new ProcessStartInfo(); p.FileName = "iexplore.exe"; p.Arguments = "http://www.google.com"; p.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Minimized; Process.Start(p); This opens IE in a new, minimized window. Good, just what I want. If I try the exact same thing but instead supply Firefox in the p.FileName, it opens Firefox in a "normal" window, rather than minimized. I've tried various changes to arguments, also have tried examining my local Firefox settings (under Tools/Options) with no luck. I'm sure I'm just missing something simple, but can't figure out what it is. If anyone can help me with getting Firefox opened in a minimized state it would be greatly appreciated!
