  I have a DropDownlist in the GridView, which should be visible only when edit is clicked. I have bound the DropDownList from code behind. When I click on Edit, the label value of that cell should automatically get selected in the DropDownList. • Referencing control on one form from another form VB.NET

  My gosh man, why is this so complicated in VB.NET? As you can guess, I'm kind of new to .NET and just want to reference a control on one form from another. Usually I would just do Form.Control.Property but that doesn't work and every example I've found through Google doesn't work for me. It just seems overly complicated with public classes, etc. Is there a more simpler way to do this? I'm ready to throw in the towel and just use a global variable at this point. I have the form containing the control I want to reference, frmGenerate which has a textbox called txtCustomerNo. From this form through a button's click event I want to show another form, frmCustomers, and have that form reference the value in txtCustomerNo. frmCustomers.ShowDialog() It has to be something simple that I'm just not grasping. • Download and replace Android resource files

  My application will have some customisation for each company that uses it. Up until now, I have been loading images and strings from resource files. The idea is that the default resources will be distributed with the application and company specific resources will be loaded from our server after they click on a link from an email to launch the initialisation intent. Does anyone know how to replace resource files? I would really like to keep using resource files to avoid rewriting a lot of code/XML. I would distribute the application from our own server, rather than through the app store, so that we could have one version per company, but unfortunately this will give quite nasty security warnings that would concern our customers.

• Running Services.msc as a different User C#

  Hi, I have a requirement to create a simple windows forms application that allows an admin user to manage the Services on remote servers. We don't want to give the admins the usernames and passwords to the servers so these will be encrypted and stored in a database. My question is whether or not it is possible to spawn a Services.msc window when impersonating one of the users stored within the database? I have looked at the ProcessStartInfo class but because Services.msc is not an executable it does not seem to like executing this. Any ideas on a simple way of doing the actual impersonation and loading of Services.msc - say off a button click? Thanks

• In order to bypass a website's login screen, can you load a link with a username and password?

  I am relatively new to web development, and I was hoping I could get some pointers about the feasibility of a feature I would like to implement. Is it possible to have a url link that you can click on, that can contain login credentials for the website it is linking to, so as to bypass that websites login screen? In other words, can I make a link from my website to facebook, that would allow me to login right in to my facebook, from any computer? Meaning, if I don't have cookies to store my login info in, is it possible to login still? This is just a conceptual question, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

• WebKit gets blank when clicking on the menu toolbar

  Hi y'all. I've embebed a WebKit view into a modal dialog using Carbon and appereantly everything works fine. However there's a little problem. When I click on the menu toolbar the view gets completely blank getting visible only when I interact with it. Seems like the control stops reciving the 'paint window' event when I call MenuSelect function. All the events are managed by the parent window because of the nature of the application (videogame). Does anybody know what this behaviour is due to and how can I avoid it? Thanks for all.

  I would need to know how to handle the intent between tabs. For example, I have a tab activity with two tabs. First on content is a text view. another one is a map view. When i click that text view it redirects to the tab2. it can be easily achieved by setCurrentTab(1) or setCurrentTabByTag("tab2") methods. But i want to pass lat and long values to that Map Activity to drop pin. What is the better way to use intents or getter/setter in java? What do you prefer? if your answer is "Intents". How?

• What's the easiest way to implement background downloading in Wicket?

  I've got a simple Wicket form that lets users select some data and then download a ZIP file (generated on the fly) containing what they asked for. Currently the form button's onSubmit() method looks something like this: public void onSubmit() { IResourceStream stream = /* assemble the data they asked for ... */ ; ResourceStreamRequestTarget target = new ResourceStreamRequestTarget(stream); target.setFileName("download.zip"); RequestCycle.get().setRequestTarget(target); } This works, but of course the request stops there and it's impossible to display any other feedback to the user. What I'd like to have is something like the typical "Your requested download [NAME] should begin automatically. If not, click this link." Ideally, still displaying the same page, so the user can immediately select some different data and download that as well. I imagine it's possible to do this using Wicket's Ajax classes, but I've managed to avoid having to use them so far, and it's not immediately obvious to me how. What's my quickest way out, here?

• Mac OS X Services: enable without user interaction?

  I wrote a simple Mac 'Service' for Finder, that executes a command. Basically: this adds a ContextMenu in Finder. If I right-click a file in Finder, a menu item pops up. If the user clicks it, it executes my script. (kind of like 'Send to Bluetooth device, ...') In OS X Leopard (10.5) and earlier, all services are enabled. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Apple changed the behavior, services now have preferences, and can be enabled or disabled by the user. (which is a good thing) However, I wrote the service, but there seems to be no way to enable it automatically (in our installer). I tried doing it with Applescript, going to the System Preferences and ticking the checkbox that way, but it requires some accessibility features to be turned on. (off by default). Is it possible? If so, how? Or do I need something else to provide Context Menus in Finder.

• Google Maps : How to open an InfoWindow by hovering a link?

  Hi there, i have a very simple question about Google Maps API. In this case, i have on my page a map on the left, with about 40 points, and the list of these 40 points on the right. So you know, when you click on a point of the map, the "info window" is displayed so you can see some informations about it. I can't find how can i do to simply open the "info window" on the map, by making a "hover" on the corresponding link. (and by the way, close all the others info windows) Did someone have an idea about this? Thanks a lot, have a nice day! :)

  I have implemented a Splash Screen according to WiredPrairie unmanaged c++ splasher class. But not when my application loads, my window isn't activated. The user has to click on the login box even thought it is the only window open in my application. I have tried the following but none of these work. Topmost = true; Focus(); Activate(); Is there any way to give my login window focus when the application starts? Sometimes the window behind it has focus! (Visual Studio if run on my machine), Explorer or a different application window on other peoples machines. Anyone have any idea?

• Question about Modal Dialog in Gtk application

  Hi, In Gtk application, there is 1 main loop which listens for events (e.g. mouse click, keyboard, etc). And when a modal dialog popup, the main loop is blocked until user clicks 'OK' in the dialog, right? (i.e. nothing will happen when user clicks on the main window). Is that correct? My question is how can firefox did its modal dialog so that it can: 1. when 1 have 2 Firefox windows 2. one of them has a modal dialog 3. other one is still interactive If both window shares the same gtk main loop, how is that possible? Please help me understanding this. Thank you.

  Hi, I'd like to implement a sort of Addressbook/Contactbook using a Datagrid (or a List) and the MVVM pattern. Something like in Outlook/Thunderbird, where you've a list of your contacts displayed with a 2-3 main fields (name surname for example), and when you double-click a contact, then you get a new modal box that displays all the details of this specific contact. Since a couple of weeks/months, I'm reading a lot of stuff about MVVM pattern on the net, but somehow, I get confused. Until now, I could find any sample like this. (perhaps, I searched wrong?) The website has no public API , hence the reason for the scrapper.   I'm using pointer-events:none; on the main photograph at the top of my site http://www.onedirection.net/, to allow the user to select the navigation behind the image. However, I'd like to let the user click on each member of the band to go to a separate page, but ONLY for the parts of the image that don't overlap into the navigation. I'm a bit stuck with this. Can it be done? I was thinking of using an image map, but can't get it working without the navigation becoming "less clickable".

I then extract the data I need (a .gif image) using .find() which is stored in 'val'. This image is then inserted into a #BFX div for display. My problem is every successive time I click my button to update this image it shows the image loading from top to bottom as it is reading it in from the web. Is there a way to only display this image once it has fully loaded so the user doesnt see the image loading and only sees the image change instantly.

• jQuery: how to pick unique IDs ?

  Hello. New to whole this jQuery (and javascript altogether, heh) and so far it's been excellent, but now I'm in a small pickle. Let's say I have list of forms generated from SQL database and every single one of them has to have unique id, so how I can select the specific item that is to be manipulated (changing values via php). the $("#submit").click(function()) will trigger every submit buttons on the page, so how I can the #submit to be some random id that I clicked. There might be a smarter way, but I'm new to this so try to bear with me. thought of passing the unique value with onClick="myfunction(unique_id)", but don't know how it goes with jQuery. hope this made any sense

• in jqgrid, how can i have the editform disappear after submit

  right now, when i click submit it sends a message to the server and updates the databased and refreshes the screen but it keeps the edit form popup on the screen.
