• Is there a way to click a link in Firefox and open a file in an existing VIM session?

  Hi there, I know it's possible to open links in an html page (let's say, if you're using Firefox) with TextMate if the link has this format: <a href="txmt://open?url=file:///home/.../index.html.haml">View</a> But is it possible to do a similar thing with VIM? Perhaps like so: <a href="vim://open?url=file:///home/.../index.html.haml">View</a> Ideally this would use an existing VIM session. Cheers, Bernie

• SIFR Newbie: font display problem in non-flash browsers

  Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help me with this as I'm fairly new to siFR and think there is something essential i'm not comprehending in the documentation. I'm having success using siFR 3 (r436) to render fonts and it's working just how I want. However if I turn flash off in any browser the original (no longer rendered) html text displays very badly indeed. I thought that in any non-flash browser my inital stylesheet would be referred to and not siFR.css and I would be able to adjust the html text as a seperate entity. I think i probably developed this bad idea because I remember in earlier siFR versions you had to mess around alot with stylings on the original stylesheet + the sifr-config so you would get corresponding line heights/widths etc between the html and rendered font. (i realise that siFR 3 renders the flash in a different way) So it seems that siFR.css controls both the non-flash text and the rendered font. Anyway my essential noob questions is: how do i get the the original html text to have the same dimensions as the rendered font? thanks for you help

• Prevent lazy loading in nHibernate

  Hi, I'm storing some blobs in my database, so I have a Document table and a DocumentContent table. Document contains a filename, description etc and has a DocumentContent property. I have a Silverlight client, so I don't want to load up and send the DocumentContent to the client unless I explicity ask for it, but I'm having trouble doing this. I've read the blog post by Davy Brion. I have tried placing lazy=false in my config and removing the virtual access modifier but have had no luck with it as yet. Every time I do a Session.Get(id), the DocumentContent is retrieved via an outer join. I only want this property to be populated when I explicity join onto this table and ask for it. Any help is appreciated. • Fix Linux-made png file for use on Windows

  There is a particular icon library that I really like. Now, I have downloaded the package that has the png files inside (I know the ico files are there, but I want the png files). However, about my Windows 7 computer tells me that about 1/3 of the png files are corrupt. I usually use XnView to view the files, and it won't display the "corrupt" files. I've tried other editors and viewers and I get the same issue. Now, the png package was originally designed for Linux to be an OS-icon-package for the entire system, so I figure the png files were built in Linux. So, is there a way I can "fix" the "corrupted" png files for my Windows 7 computer? Maybe when the files were created there was some bit that was off-colour or something? Any clues? [edit] I have read in this thread that the "corruption" could happen during the extraction process. I did all the extraction with 7-zip. It was a zip containing a tar. I will try another extractor, but I don't think it will make any difference.

• Share a "deep link" from a Windows 8/WinRT application

  I have searched using many different terms and phrases, and waded through many pages of results, but I have (remarkably) not seen anyone else addressing, even asking, about, this issue. So here goes... Ultimate Goal: Allow a user viewing a content-based page (may contain both text and images) within a Windows Store app to share that content with someone else. Description I am working on taking a fair amount of content and making it available for browsing/navigating as a Windows 8/WinRT/Windows Store (we need a consistent name here) application. One of the desired features is to take advantage of the Share Charm, such that someone viewing a page could share that page with someone else. The ideal behavior is for the application to implement the Share Source contract which would share an email message that contained some explanatory text, a link to get the app from the Windows Store, and a "deep link" into the shared page in the application. Solutions Considered We had originally looked at just generating a PDF representation of the page, but there are very few external libraries that would work under WinRT, and having to include externally licensed code would be problematic as well. Writing our own PDF generation code would out of scope. We have also considered generating a Word document or PowerPoint slide using OpenXML, but again, we run up against the limitaions of WinRT. In this case, it is highly unlikely the OpenXML SDK is useable in a WinRT application. Another thought was to pre-generate all of the pages as .pdf files, store them as resources, and when the Share Charm is invoked, share the .pdf file associated with the current page. The problem here is the application will have at least 150 content pages, and depending on how we break the content down, up to over 600. This would likely cause serious bloat. Where We Are At Thus we have come to sharing URIs. From what I can tell, though, the "deep linking" feature is only intended for use on Secondary Tiles tied to your application. Another avenue I considered was registering a protocol like, "my-special-app:" with the OS and having it fire up the application but that would require HKCR registry access, which is outside the WinRT sandbox. If it matters, we are leaning towards an HTML/JS application, rather than XAML/C#, because the converted content will all be in HTML and the WebView control in WinRT is fairly limited. This decision is not yet final, though. Conclusion So, is this possible, and if so, how would it be done or where can I find documentation on it? Thanks, Dave Parker

• Executing <script> elements inserted with .innerHTML

  I've got a script that inserts some content into an element using innerHTML. The content could for example be: <script type="text/javascript">alert('test');</script> <strong>test</strong> Problem is that the code inside the <script> tag doesn't get executed. I googled it a bit but there were no apparent solutions. If I inserted the content using jQuery $(element).append(content);the script parts got eval'd before being injected into the DOM. Has anyone got a snippet of code that executes all the <script> elements? The jQuery code was a bit complex so I couldn't really figure out how it was done.

• User Control not loading based on location

  I have an ASP.net MVC solution that uses nested master pages to load content. On the first Master page I load a header, then have the Content Placeholder, and then load a footer. This master page is referenced by another master page which adds some additional information based on the user being logged in or not. When I load a page that references these master pages, the header loads, but the footer does not. If I move the footer up above the Content Place Holder it loads into the page. Any ideas why this might be the case?   I have a textbox in my View. I input a number into the textbox, and then i want the controller to multiply the number and put the result into the textbox. How can I do that? The textbox doesn't get updated with the new value. How can I do that?

• RenderAction in an HtmlHelperExtension Method?

  I am trying to call the RenderAction Extension Method within my own Html Helper: System.Web.Mvc.Html.ChildActionExtensions.RenderAction(helper, "account", "login"); this is so that along with some additional logic, I would like all html helpers to use a common method name structure when calling it on the view: <%= Html.CompanyName().RenderAccount() %> but the problem I am having is that, asp.net will complain about not finding the actual route it needs to process. It does not take in the parameters of "controller" to be used as the action and "login" to be used as the action. It seems to only reference the current route. Any ideas how I can package up the RenderAction?

• Stacking two pictures with captions side by side and centered in Wordpress

  Hi all - this is driving me absolutely nuts. I'm not the most experienced with CSS, so I'm hoping it is something simple. I'm running Wordpress 2.9.2 with "The Morning After" theme. I am trying to write a post where I want to display two small pictures, with captions, side-by-side and centered in the middle of the page. If I use "aligncenter" the pics are in the center, but stacked one on top of the other. My first thought was to wrap the images in a div using: <div style="text-align:center;">image code</div> but that doesn't work. Now, if I wrap in a centered div like that and omit the [caption] tags, it works, but I need the captions. Those caption tags are translated by Wordpress into it's own div of class wp-caption. I've also tried wrapping each separate image in its own div within a parent centered div wrapper. Here is the pertinent parts of the style.css - please let me know if you need any other info, and if you can help me, I will postpone jumping off the nearest bridge! Thanks!!   Hi, I use rich:inputNumberSpinner tag. The problem is : I set cursor focus to inside of rich:inputNumberSpinner field, then i hit the enter button from my keyboard, that time page will be automatically refresh. But i don't need page refresh when i hit the enter button from my keyboard.   What is prefered way of setting html title (in head) for view when using master pages? One way is by using Page.Title in .aspx file, but that requires in master page which can mess with HTML code. So, lets assume no server side controls, only pure html. Any better ideas? UPDATE: I would like to set title in view NOT in the controller or model.

  Hello. I have developed a system in PHP which processes #hashtags like on Twitter. Now I'm trying to build a system that will suggest tags as I type. When a user starts writing a tag, a drop-down list should appear beneath the textarea with other tags that begin with the same string. Right now, I have it working where if a user types the hash key (#) the list will show up with the most popular #hashtags. When a tag is clicked, it is inserted at the end of the text in the textarea. I need the tag to be inserted at the cursor location instead. Here's my code; it operates on a textarea with class "facebook_status_text" and a div with class "fbssts_floating_suggestions" that contains an unordered list of links.   I'm guessing there's probably an easier way to do what I'm doing so that the code is less unwieldy. I had trouble understanding how to use the revert_to method... i wanted something where i could call up two different versions at the same time, but this doesn't seem to be the way that vestal_versions works. • Force Download Files Broken Headers wrong?

I have a problem; the website used to be in dynamic urls. I enabled friendly url writing. The problem is that one page has more than one url. You can access a same page from the dynamic url and static url. In fact a single page has 9 different urls. This obviously creates problems for seo as search engines penalize my website for this.
