• ASP.NET MVC 2 - ViewData empty after POST

  I don't really know where to look for an error... the situation: I have an ASPX view which contains a form and a few input's, and when I click the submit button everything is POST'ed to one of my ASP.NET MVC actions. When I set a breakpoint there, it is hit correctly. When I use FireBug to see what is sent to the action, I correctly see data1=abc&data2=something&data3=1234. However, nothing is arriving in my action method. ViewData is empty, there is no ViewData["data1"] or anything else that would show that data arrived. How can this be? Where can I start looking for the error?

• How to pass parameters to report model in Reporting Services

  I'm developing report in RS that show top N customers based on some criteria. It also allows to select number of customers and period of time. Is it possible to do it by using report model? Thing that it seems to be difficult is how to pass parameters determined by user. Another thing that in my oppinion is very disappointing is that i cannot use SQL query as dataset query, because it uses odd and elaborate XML. Although report model items seem to map its fields to query or table fields. I m concerning using report models because i need to provide uniform data model (the same tables and fields) for more or less different database schemas. It would be very nice if somebody would explain what can be done with report models and what can not.

I've look everywhere, and people suggest me to use NSZombieEnabled on my executables environment variables. • webOS style view switching on iPhone app

  Hello, I have been working with a iPhone app that I would like to have switch views like the Palm Pre does for multitasking. I know the usual way of switching views by using the black bar at the bottom of the app but the app I am working on does not lend itself to having a big black bar in the way (see attached picture #1). I guess my question is, how do I shrink the current view (Current Location window) and show other views on the sides? (see attached picture #2) Then be able to swipe left and right to view other views. • How can I see what capybara found in a failing cucumber step?

  I started migrating from cucumber + webrat to cucumber + capybara. Now the behavior of "I should see " seems to be somewhat different. Most of these fail now, although I didn't change anything on the page. I replaced the snippet that should be found with some stuff that is on every page and for some text it works and for other text it doesn't. I can't find any pattern in what is found in the page's content and what is not. Webrat used to print what the page content is that it found, in case it did not contain the required phrase. Is there anyway to have capybara show what text it got from the page in which it tried to find the text?

  Hola, I have an app i'm building in c#, and i'd like to have the ability to have a user click a "more information" icon next to a field, which will then show a callout with some blurb about why the field contains what it does. ideally it'd look a lot like the ValidatorCallout, but instead of being shown as a result of validation, it'll be shown as a result of a mouseclick, or hover. Anyone know of a nice way to do this with either the ajaxcontroltoolkit, or jquery? cheers for any help you can give me.

For that I wanted to show a small transparent or transluscent page on the above page as shown here http://img17.imageshack.us/i/normalpagewithasmallpag.png/ You may notice that i want that page to appear at the center of the webpage overlayed on the original page with a cross at top-right corner. Clicking on that cross may close this small page revealing the page behind it so that the users may see what has been developed so far. I hope you guys have some suggestions for me. • FFmpeg bitrate issue.

  I'm dealing with a very big issue about bit rate , ffmpeg provide the -b option for the bit rate and for adjustment it provide -minrate and -maxrate, -bufsize but it don't work proper. If i'm giving 256kbps at -b option , when the trans-coding finishes , it provide the 380kbps. How can we achieve the constant bit rate using ffmpeg. If their is +-10Kb it's adjustable. but the video bit rate always exceed by 50-100 kbps. I'm using following command ffmpeg -i "demo.avs" -vcodec libx264 -s 320x240 -aspect 4:3 -r 15 -b 256kb \ -minrate 200kb -maxrate 280kb -bufsize 256kb -acodec libmp3lame -ac 2 \ -ar 22050 -ab 64kb -y "output.mp4" When trans-coding is done, the Media Info show overall bit rate 440kb (it should be 320kb). Is their something wrong in the command. Or i have to use some other parameter? Plz provide your suggestion its very important.

I want to keep it as straight forward and simple as I can. The dashed lines and header come from a displayHdg() function. Anyhow, I have not been able to figure out how to get the proper index value for the array. Ideally, I'd like to generate the indices for each line, but all my attempts have failed. The array is looped through and each object printed in the main() function, and the ostream is overloaded in a person class, so I tried to use global variables as well as static variables, and all of those produce incorrect numbering (i.e. show 0, 1 the first time (for 2 objects), then change to 1, 2 on the next display). Any ideas?

• Running out of memory but not seeing excessive object allocation in Instruments

  I have an iPad app that's crashing due to low memory. However, Instruments doesn't show any significant amount of memory allocated using ObjectAlloc - it stays under 1MB for the lifetime of the application. Leaks shows less than 1kB leaked over the course of the run. Memory monitor shows the free memory on the devices drop significantly with use, eventually dropping to the point that it's out of memory. Here's a screenshot from Instruments: I'm totally stumped. As far as I can tell, this basically says that as far as my app is concerned, I'm never using more than about 750kB, but that the device is still running out of physical memory, which is causing my app to crash/force exit. I'm new to debugging memory issues with XCode. Am I measuring this wrong? Is there another way to see where this memory is going?

• Prototype mouseleave for two elements

  I have created a small navigation element that is positioned right on top of another element. It is only shown when a user mousenters/mouseovers the main element. I am having some trouble with the prototype. I would like this small nav element to be hidden when a user mouses out of the main box, but I would also like the small nav element to remain visible if a user mouses out of the main box but mouses into the small nav at the same time. But my goal is when user click on the button (which generate Excel .xls), I want download popup to show up asking user whether to save or open the .xls file just like any other web services doing for downloading any type of files. According to my search, the step is: generate Excel .xls (DONE) write the excel to stream in JAX-RS file, set response header to something like, String fileName = "Blah_Report.xls"; response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); My question is I'm doing all of this in JAX-RS file and I don't have HttpServletResponse object available. According to the answer from Add Response Header to JAX-RS Webservice He says: You can inject a reference to the actual HttpServletResponse via the @Context annotation in your webservice and use addHeader() etc. to add your header. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

• Choosing connectionstring in VB.NET application at startup

  I have a VB.NET application with a connection to an SQL Server 2003. On the server there are two databases, MyDatabase and MyDatabase_Test. What I would like to do is to show a dialog when the program starts that let's the user choose which database to use. My idea is to create a new form as the starup form that sets this property and then launches the main form. Currently the connectionstring is specified in the application config file. Best would be if I can specify two different connection strings in that file to choose from, but for now it is also acceptable with other solutions like hardcoding the two connectionstrings into the startup form.

• R.java file not updating with UI element's id

  I added some UI elements to the main.xml file in the res\layout folder and when I try to access them through the call, R.layout.my_uielement, the UI element that I created is not there. Even when I add a new xml file with UI elements, it still doesn't show up in the R.layout class. I have made checked the ids on them and they have the correct format (I think): android:id="@+id/my_button". What could be the problem? Do I need to compile the code first?

  Hi all I want to create an upload form to upload large files. Thats pretty much easy, however, the upload process itself taks long and basically looks like nothing is happening for a few minutes. So now I'd like to insert a progress bar to show the user that something is happening and they should just sit tight. I've read of numerous methods like APC and certian flash plugins, but my site is hosted on a shared server and I cant install any new applications on it. I'm thinking, maybe if it is possible to read the size of the temp file it creates via an ajax page. By polling the size every few seconds I should be able to get the progress of the upload. Now the question I pose is...where is the temp file situated?

• Browser popup blocker blocking jasper reports generated from flex

  Hi all, I have a flex application that uses navigateToURL() to call a servlet. The servlet in turn generates a JasperReport and then uses exportReport() to show the report in a new browser tab. Now, my problem is this. I want to generate multiple reports at once, each opening in its own tab. It all works fine except that in Firefox the built in browser pop-up blocker sees every new tab that is opened after the first report tab as a pop-up. It blocks this and is giving me endless headaches. I also tried this in IE8, Safari, Chrome and Opera with no problems. Any help as to how I can get past the Firefox pop-up blocker would be much appreciated. Pieter

I've noticed that Outlook (and other IMAP-supporting clients) instantly show when there is a new e-mail, but unfortunately all .NET IMAP libraries seem to lack this functionality. Does anyone know of an IMAP library that has this functionality? Or is there another way to be instantly notified of new message without doing some short-period polling?
