  • Components don't show in custom JPanel/JComponent

    - by Bart van Heukelom
    I've created a custom swing component. I can see it (the grid from the paint method is drawn), but the buttons that are added (verified by println) aren't shown. What am I doing wrong? Background information: I'm trying to build a tree of visible objects like the Flash/AS3 display list. public class MapPanel extends JComponent { // or extends JPanel, same effect private static final long serialVersionUID = 4844990579260312742L; public MapPanel(ShapeMap map) { setBackground(Color.LIGHT_GRAY); setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000,1000)); setLayout(null); for (Layer l : map.getLayers()) { // LayerView layerView = new LayerView(l); // add(layerView); System.out.println(l); JButton test = new JButton(l.getName()); add(test); validate(); } } @Override protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) { // necessary? super.paintComponent(g); // background g.setColor(getBackground()); g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); // grid g.setColor(Color.GRAY); for (double x = 0; x < getWidth(); x += 10) { g.drawLine((int)x, 0, (int)x, getHeight()); } for (double y = 0; y < getHeight(); y += 10) { g.drawLine(0, (int)y, getWidth(), (int)y); } } }

  • Hashtable with int array as key in java

    - by Niels Hansen
    Hey! I'm trying to make a hashtable in java where the keys are int[], but it dosen't work. I have made a little test program to show my problem: public class test{ public static void main(String[] args){ int[] test0 = {1,1}; int[] test1 = {1,1}; Hashtable<int[], String> ht = new Hashtable<int[], String>(); String s0 = "foo"; ht.put(test0, s0); System.out.println("the result from ht.get(test1)"); System.out.println(ht.get(test1)); System.out.println("the result from ht.get(test0)"); System.out.println(ht.get(test0)); } } My intention is that both ht.get calles should return the same result, since the two arrays are equal, but they dont. Here is the result from running the code: the result from ht.get(test1) null the result from ht.get(test0) foo Am I missing something here or is it just impossible to use int[] as keys in a hastable?

  • clojure: ExceptionInInitializerError in Namespace.<init> loading from a non-default classpath

    - by Charles Duffy
    In attempting to load an AOT-compiled class from a non-default classpath, I receive the following exception: Traceback (innermost last): File "test.jy", line 10, in ? at clojure.lang.Namespace.<init>(Namespace.java:34) at clojure.lang.Namespace.findOrCreate(Namespace.java:176) at clojure.lang.Var.internPrivate(Var.java:149) at aot_demo.JavaClass.<clinit>(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:247) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:597) java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError I'm able to reproduce this with the following trivial project.clj: (defproject aot-demo "0.1.0-SNAPSHOT" :dependencies [[org.clojure/clojure "1.3.0"]] :aot [aot-demo.core]) ...and src/aot_demo/core.clj defined as follows: (ns aot-demo.core (:gen-class :name aot_demo.JavaClass :methods [#^{:static true} [lower [java.lang.String] java.lang.String]])) (defn -lower [str] (.toLower str)) The following Jython script is then sufficient to trigger the bug: #!/usr/bin/jython import java.lang.Class import java.net.URLClassLoader import java.net.URL import os cl = java.net.URLClassLoader( [java.net.URL('file://%s/target/aot-demo-0.1.0-SNAPSHOT-standalone.jar' % (os.getcwd()))]) java.lang.Class.forName('aot_demo.JavaClass', True, cl) However, the exception does not occur if the test script is started with the uberjar already in the CLASSPATH variable. What's going on here? I'm trying to write a plugin for the BaseX database in Clojure; the above accurately represents how their plugin-loading mechanism works for the purpose of providing a SSCE for this problem.

  • A generic error occurred in GDI+, JPEG Image to MemoryStream

    - by madcapnmckay
    Hi, This seems to be a bit of an infamous error all over the web. So much so that I have been unable to find an answer to my problem as my scenario doesn't fit. An exception gets thrown when I save the image to the stream. Weirdly this works perfectly with a png but gives the above error with jpg and gif which is rather confusing. Most similar problem out there relate to saving images to files without permissions. Ironically the solution is to use a memory stream as I am doing.... public static byte[] ConvertImageToByteArray(Image imageToConvert) { using (var ms = new MemoryStream()) { ImageFormat format; switch (imageToConvert.MimeType()) { case "image/png": format = ImageFormat.Png; break; case "image/gif": format = ImageFormat.Gif; break; default: format = ImageFormat.Jpeg; break; } imageToConvert.Save(ms, format); return ms.ToArray(); } } More detail to the exception. The reason this causes so many issues is the lack of explanation :( System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException was unhandled by user code Message="A generic error occurred in GDI+." • Are .NET 4.0 Runtime slower than .NET 2.0 Runtime?

    - by DxCK
    After I upgraded my projects to .NET 4.0 (With VS2010) I realized than they run slower than they were in .NET 2.0 (VS2008). So i decided to benchmark a simple console application in both VS2008 & VS2010 with various Target Frameworks: using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Reflection; namespace RuntimePerfTest { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine(Assembly.GetCallingAssembly().ImageRuntimeVersion); Stopwatch sw = new Stopwatch(); while (true) { sw.Reset(); sw.Start(); for (int i = 0; i < 1000000000; i++) { } TimeSpan elapsed = sw.Elapsed; Console.WriteLine(elapsed); } } } } Here is the results: VS2008 Target Framework 2.0: ~0.25 seconds Target Framework 3.0: ~0.25 seconds Target Framework 3.5: ~0.25 seconds VS2010 Target Framework 2.0: ~3.8 seconds Target Framework 3.0: ~3.8 seconds Target Framework 3.5: ~1.51 seconds Target Framework 3.5 Client Profile: ~3.8 seconds Target Framework 4.0: ~1.01 seconds Target Framework 4.0 Client Profile: ~1.01 seconds My initial conclusion is obviously that programs compiled with VS2008 working faster than programs compiled with VS2010. Can anyone explain those performance changes between VS2008 and VS2010? and between different Target Frameworks inside VS2010 itself?

  • Cannot call DLL import entry in C# from C++ project. EntryPointNotFoundException

    - by kriau
    I'm trying to call from C# a function in a custom DLL written in C++. However I'm getting the warning during code analysis and the error at runtime: Warning: CA1400 : Microsoft.Interoperability : Correct the declaration of 'SafeNativeMethods.SetHook()' so that it correctly points to an existing entry point in 'wi.dll'. The unmanaged entry point name currently linked to is SetHook. Error: System.EntryPointNotFoundException was unhandled. Unable to find an entry point named 'SetHook' in DLL 'wi.dll'. Both projects wi.dll and C# exe has been compiled in to the same DEBUG folder, both files reside here. There is only one file with the name wi.dll in the whole file system. C++ function definition looks like: #define WI_API __declspec(dllexport) bool WI_API SetHook(); I can see exported function using Dependency Walker: as decorated: bool SetHook(void) as undecorated: ?SetHook@@YA_NXZ C# DLL import looks like (I've defined these lines using CLRInsideOut from MSDN magazine): [DllImport("wi.dll", EntryPoint = "SetHook", CallingConvention = CallingConvention.Cdecl)] [return: MarshalAsAttribute(UnmanagedType.I1)] internal static extern bool SetHook(); I've tried without EntryPoint and CallingConvention definitions as well. Both projects are 32-bits, I'm using W7 64 bits, VS 2010 RC. I believe that I simply have overlooked something.... Thanks in advance.

  • setBit java method using bit shifting and hexadecimal code - question

    - by somewhat_confused
    I am having trouble understanding what is happening in the two lines with the 0xFF7F and the one below it. There is a link here that explains it to some degree. http://www.herongyang.com/java/Bit-String-Set-Bit-to-Byte-Array.html I don't know if 0xFF7FposBit) & oldByte) & 0x00FF are supposed to be 3 values 'AND'ed together or how this is supposed to be read. If anyone can clarify what is happening here a little better, I would greatly appreciate it. private static void setBit(byte[] data, final int pos, final int val) { int posByte = pos/8; int posBit = pos%8; byte oldByte = data[posByte]; oldByte = (byte) (((0xFF7F>>posBit) & oldByte) & 0x00FF); byte newByte = (byte) ((val<<(8-(posBit+1))) | oldByte); data[posByte] = newByte; } passed into this method as parameters from a selectBits method was setBit(out,i,val); out = is byte[] out = new byte[numOfBytes]; (numOfBytes can be 7 in this situation) i = which is number [57], the original number from the PC1 int array holding the 56-integers. val = which is the bit taken from the byte array from the getBit() method.

  • Are function-local typedefs visible inside C++0x lambdas?

    - by GMan - Save the Unicorns
    I've run into a strange problem. The following simplified code reproduces the problem in MSVC 2010 Beta 2: template <typename T> struct dummy { static T foo(void) { return T(); } }; int main(void) { typedef dummy<bool> dummy_type; auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy_type::foo(); }; // auto x = [](void){ bool b = dummy<bool>::foo(); }; // works } The typedef I created locally in the function doesn't seem to be visible in the lambda. If I replace the typedef with the actual type, it works as expected. Here are some other test cases: // crashes the compiler, credit to Tarydon int main(void) { struct dummy {}; auto x = [](void){ dummy d; }; } // works as expected int main(void) { typedef int integer; auto x = [](void){ integer i = 0; }; } I don't have g++ 4.5 available to test it, right now. Is this some strange rule in C++0x, or just a bug in the compiler? From the results above, I'm leaning towards bug. Though the crash is definitely a bug. For now, I have filed two bug reports. All code snippets above should compile. The error has to do with using the scope resolution on locally defined scopes. (Spotted by dvide.) And the crash bug has to do with... who knows. :) Update According to the bug reports, they have both been fixed for the next release of Visual Studio 2010.

  • Request-local storage in ASP.NET (accessible to the code from IHttpModule implementation)

    - by IgorK
    I need to have some object hanging around between two events I'm interested in: PreRequestHandlerExecute (where I create an instance of my object and want to save it) and PostRequestHandlerExecute (where I want to get to the object). After the second event the object is not needed for my purposes and should be discarded either by storage or my explicit action. So the ideal context where my object should be stored is per request (with guaranteed no sharing issues when different threads are serving requests... or processes/servers :) ) Take into account that actual implementation I can do is being made from a HttpModule and is supposed to be a pluggable solution for already written web apps (so the option to provide some state using static/instance variables in Global.asax doesn't look good - I will have to modify Global.asax on every web application). Cache seems to be too broad for this use. I tried to see whether httpContext.Application (of type HttpApplicationState) is good for me or not, but cannot get whether it is exactly per HttpApplication instance or not (AFAIK you can have several instances of HttpApplications used on different threads and therefore serving several requests simultaneously - then using storage shared between threads will not work correctly; otherwise I would use it because one HttpApplication instance serves exactly one request at a time). Something could be done with storing state on the HttpModule instances if I know for sure that it's exactly bound 1-to-1 with every HttpApplication instance running (but again I need a proof that HttpApplication instance is 1-to-1 with my HttpModule's instance). Any valuable and reputable links on these topics are much appreciated... Would be great to find something particularly well-suited for per request situation (because otherwise I may end up with something ulgy... probably either some 'broader' scoped storage and some hacks to have different keys in the storage for different requests, OR using a thread-local thing and in this way commit to the theory that IIS/ASP.NET will not ever serve first event from one thread and the second event from the other thread and so on)

  • Wrapper Classes for Backward compatibility in Java

    - by Casebash
    There is an interesting article here on maintaing backwards compatibility for Java. In the wrapper class section, I can't actually understand what the wrapper class accomplishes. In the following code from MyApp, WrapNewClass.checkAvailable() could be replaced by Class.forName("NewClass"). static { try { WrapNewClass.checkAvailable(); mNewClassAvailable = true; } catch (Throwable ex) { mNewClassAvailable = false; } } Consider when NewClass is unavailable. In the code where we use the wrapper (see below), all we have done is replace a class that doesn't exist, with one that exists, but which can't be compiled as it uses a class that doesn't exist. public void diddle() { if (mNewClassAvailable) { WrapNewClass.setGlobalDiv(4); WrapNewClass wnc = new WrapNewClass(40); System.out.println("newer API is available - " + wnc.doStuff(10)); }else { System.out.println("newer API not available"); } } Can anyone explain why this makes a difference? I assume it has something to do with how Java compiles code - which I don't know much about.

  • make a thread which recieves values from other threads

    - by farteaga88
    This program in Java creates a list of 15 numbers and creates 3 threads to search for the maximum in a given interval. I want to create another thread that takes those 3 numbers and get the maximum. but i don't know how to get those values in the other thread. public class apple implements Runnable{ String name; int time, number, first, last, maximum; int[] array = {12, 32, 54 ,64, 656, 756, 765 ,43, 34, 54,5 ,45 ,6 , 5, 65}; public apple(String s, int f, int l){ name = s; first = f; last = l; maximum = array[0]; } public void run(){ try{ for(int i = first; i < last; i++ ) { if(maximum < array[i]) { maximum = array[i]; } } System.out.println("Thread"+ name + "maximum = " + maximum); }catch(Exception e){} } public static void main(String[] args){ Thread t1 = new Thread(new apple("1 ", 0, 5)); Thread t2 = new Thread(new apple("2 ", 5, 10 )); Thread t3 = new Thread(new apple("3 ", 10, 15)); try{ t1.start(); t2.start(); t3.start(); }catch(Exception e){} } }

  • How can you push a new view with a grouped table?

    - by Tanner
    Hi All, Ive been trying to push a new view when a cell is tapped but absolutely nothing happens. I figured grouped style pushed the same as plain. Here is my code: -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; contactArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"iPhone",@"iPod",@"MacBook",@"MacBook Pro",nil]; shareArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"Flex",@"AIR",@"PhotoShop",@"Flash",nil]; } -(NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 2; } // Customize the number of rows in the table view. -(NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) return [contactArray count]; else return [shareArray count]; } -(NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section{ if(section == 0){ return @"Contact"; }else{ return @"Share"; } } -(NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForFooterInSection:(NSInteger)section{ if(section == 0){ return @"Footer for Apple Products"; }else{ return @"Footer for Adobe Softwares"; } } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. -(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Set up the cell... if(indexPath.section == 0){ cell.text = [contactArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; }else{ cell.text = [shareArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } return cell; } -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //NextViewController *nextController = [[NextViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"NextView" bundle:nil]; //[self.navigationController pushViewController:nextController animated:YES]; if([contactArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] == @"iPhone"){ LandscapeHydrogen *abo = [[LandscapeHydrogen alloc] initWithNibName:@"LandscapeHydrogen" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:abo animated:NO]; [abo release]; } } Any help is appreciated.

  • Setting the default stack size on Linux globally for the program

    - by wowus
    So I've noticed that the default stack size for threads on linux is 8MB (if I'm wrong, PLEASE correct me), and, incidentally, 1MB on Windows. This is quite bad for my application, as on a 4-core processor that means 64 MB is space is used JUST for threads! The worst part is, I'm never using more than 100kb of stack per thread (I abuse the heap a LOT ;)). My solution right now is to limit the stack size of threads. However, I have no idea how to do this portably. Just for context, I'm using Boost.Thread for my threading needs. I'm okay with a little bit of #ifdef hell, but I'd like to know how to do it easily first. Basically, I want something like this (where windows_* is linked on windows builds, and posix_* is linked under linux builds) // windows_stack_limiter.c int limit_stack_size() { // Windows impl. return 0; } // posix_stack_limiter.c int limit_stack_size() { // Linux impl. return 0; } // stack_limiter.cpp int limit_stack_size(); static volatile int placeholder = limit_stack_size(); How do I flesh out those functions? Or, alternatively, am I just doing this entirely wrong? Remember I have no control over the actual thread creation (no new params to CreateThread on Windows), as I'm using Boost.Thread.

  • How to increase PermGen memory for eclipselink StaticWeaveAntTask

    - by rayd09
    We are using Eclipselink and need to weave the code in order for lazy fetching to work property. During the weave process I'm getting the following error: weave: BUILD FAILED java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space I have the following tasks within my ant build file: <target name="define_weave_task" description="task definition for EclipseLink static weaving"> <taskdef name="eclipse_weave" classname="org.eclipse.persistence.tools.weaving.jpa.StaticWeaveAntTask"/> </target> <target name="weave" depends="compile,define_weave_task" description="weave eclipselink code into compiled classes"> <eclipse_weave source="${path.classes}" target="${path.classes}"> <classpath refid="compile.classpath"/> </eclipse_weave> </target> It has been working great for a long time. Now that the amount of code to be woven has increased I'm getting the PermGen error. I would like to be able to up the amount of perm space. If I was doing a compile I would be able to up the perm space via a compiler argument such as <compilerarg value="-XX:MaxPermSize=256M"/> but this does not appear to be a valid argument for eclipselink weaving. How can I up the perm space for the weave?

  • Including partial views when applying the Mode-View-ViewModel design pattern

    - by Filip Ekberg
    Consider that I have an application that just handles Messages and Users I want my Window to have a common Menu and an area where the current View is displayed. I can only work with either Messages or Users so I cannot work simultaniously with both Views. Therefore I have the following Controls MessageView.xaml UserView.xaml Just to make it a bit easier, both the Message Model and the User Model looks like this: Name Description Now, I have the following three ViewModels: MainWindowViewModel UsersViewModel MessagesViewModel The UsersViewModel and the MessagesViewModel both just fetch an ObserverableCollection<T> of its regarding Model which is bound in the corresponding View like this: <DataGrid ItemSource="{Binding ModelCollection}" /> The MainWindowViewModel hooks up two different Commands that have implemented ICommand that looks something like the following: public class ShowMessagesCommand : ICommand { private ViewModelBase ViewModel { get; set; } public ShowMessagesCommand (ViewModelBase viewModel) { ViewModel = viewModel; } public void Execute(object parameter) { var viewModel = new ProductsViewModel(); ViewModel.PartialViewModel = new MessageView { DataContext = viewModel }; } public bool CanExecute(object parameter) { return true; } public event EventHandler CanExecuteChanged; } And there is another one a like it that will show Users. Now this introduced ViewModelBase which only holds the following: public UIElement PartialViewModel { get { return (UIElement)GetValue(PartialViewModelProperty); } set { SetValue(PartialViewModelProperty, value); } } public static readonly DependencyProperty PartialViewModelProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("PartialViewModel", typeof(UIElement), typeof(ViewModelBase), new UIPropertyMetadata(null)); This dependency property is used in the MainWindow.xaml to display the User Control dynamicly like this: <UserControl Content="{Binding PartialViewModel}" /> There are also two buttons on this Window that fires the Commands: ShowMessagesCommand ShowUsersCommand And when these are fired, the UserControl changes because PartialViewModel is a dependency property. I want to know if this is bad practice? Should I not inject the User Control like this? Is there another "better" alternative that corresponds better with the design pattern? Or is this a nice way of including partial views?

  • nginx multiple domain virtual host configuration

    - by Poe
    I'm setting up nginx with multiple domain or wildcard support for convenience sake, rather than setting up 50+ different sites-available/* files. Hopefully this is enough to show you what I'm trying to do. Some are static sites, some are dynamic with usually wordpress installed. If an index.php exists, everything works as expected. If a file is requested that does not exist (missing.html), a 500 error is given due to the rewrite. The logged error is: *112 rewrite or internal redirection cycle while processing "/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/index.php/missing.html" The basic nginx configuration I'm currently using is: ` listen 80 default; server _; ... location / { root /var/www/$host; if (-f $request_filename) { expires max; break; } # problem, what if index.php does not exist? if (!-e $request_filename) { rewrite ^/(.*)$ /index.php/$1 last; } } ... ` If an index.php does not exist, and the file also does not exist, I would like it to error 404. Currently, nginx does not support multiple condition if's or nested if so I need a workaround.

  • Make phone browser open a URL on Symbian S60 3rd Ed programmatically

    On clicking a URL displayed in my application running on a Symbian S60 3rd Edition device should make the phone browser ( which is already open ) open the specified URL. Here is the code: _LIT( KUrlPrefix,"4 " ) void CMunduIMAppUi::OpenInBrowser(const TDesC& aUrl) { HBufC *url = NULL; const TInt KWmlBrowserUid =0x10008D39; TUid id( TUid::Uid( KWmlBrowserUid ) ); TApaTaskList taskList( CEikonEnv::Static()->WsSession() ); TApaTask task = taskList.FindApp( id ); // Checks if the browser is already open if ( task.Exists() ) { HBufC8* parameter = HBufC8::NewL( aUrl.Length()+ KUrlPrefix().Length()); parameter->Des().Copy(KUrlPrefix); parameter->Des().Append(aUrl); task.BringToForeground(); task.SendMessage(TUid::Uid(0), *parameter); // UID not used delete parameter; parameter = NULL; } } When I use this code to open a URL the browser comes to the foreground but does not get directed to the URL. • Efficient algorithm for Next button on a MySQL result set

    - by David Grayson
    I have a website that lets people view rows in a table (each row is a picture). There are more than 100,000 rows. You can view different subsets of the rows, and you can view them with different sort orders. While you are viewing one of the rows, you can click the "Next" or "Previous" buttons to go the next/previous row in the list. How would you implement the "Next" and "Previous" features of the website? More specifically, if you have an arbitrary query that returns a list of up to 100,000+ rows, and you know some information about the current row someone is viewing, how do you determine the NEXT row efficiently? Here is the pseudo-code of the solution I came up with when the website was young, and it worked well when there were only 1000 rows, but now that there are 100,000 rows I think it is eating up too much memory. int nextRowId(string query, int currentRowId) { array allRowIds = mysql_query(query); // Takes up a lot of memory! int currentIndex = (index of currentRowId in allRowIds); // Takes time! return allRowIds[currentIndex+1]; } While you are thinking about this problem, remember that the website can store more information about the current row than just its ID (for example, the position of the current row in the result set), and this information can be used as a hint to help determine the ID of the next row. Edit: Sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but this isn't just a static website: rows can often be added to the list, and rows can be re-ordered in the list. (Much rarer, rows can be removed from the list.) I think that I should worry about that kind of thing, but maybe you can convince me otherwise.

  • Timer takes 10 ms more then interval

    - by Praveen
    Hi All, I am using a timer with interval 50 miliseconds. But in the timer's tick event when I print the time it's always 62 or 65 ms. I don't understand why it's taking 10 ms more. Please can some one have look into this. Here is the code I am using. static int _counter; System.Timers.Timer _timer = new System.Timers.Timer(1000); public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); _timer.Elapsed += new ElapsedEventHandler(_timer_Elapsed); _timer.Start(); } void _timer_Elapsed(object sender, ElapsedEventArgs e) { Console.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToString("{hh:mm:ss.fff}")); _counter++; if (_counter == 20) _timer.Stop(); } And this the output: {01:59:08.381} {01:59:09.393} {01:59:10.407} {01:59:11.421} {01:59:12.435} {01:59:13.449} {01:59:14.463} {01:59:15.477} {01:59:16.491} {01:59:17.505} {01:59:18.519} {01:59:19.533} {01:59:20.547} {01:59:21.561} {01:59:22.575} {01:59:23.589} {01:59:24.603} {01:59:25.615} {01:59:26.629} {01:59:27.643}

  • How to do buffered intersection checks on an IPoint?

    - by Quigrim
    How would I buffer an IPoint to do an intersection check using IRelationalOperator? I have, for arguments sake: IPoint p1 = xxx; IPoint p2 = yyy; IRelationalOperator rel1 = (IRelationalOperator)p1; if (rel.Intersects (p2)) // Do something But now I want to add a tolerance to my check, so I assume the right way to do that is by either buffering p1 or p2. Right? How do I add such a buffer? Note: the Intersects method I am using is an extension method I wrote to simplify my code. Here it is: /// <summary> /// Returns true if the IGeometry is intersected. /// This method negates the Disjoint method. /// </summary> /// <param name="relOp">The rel op.</param> /// <param name="other">The other.</param> /// <returns></returns> public static bool Intersects ( this IRelationalOperator relOp, IGeometry other) { return (!relOp.Disjoint (other)); }

  • Same font, character spacing and line-height but different results

    - by Ben Huh
    The introduction of @font-face in CSS3 allows web designers to use fonts that look the same across all browsers. That is what I thought until trying it out with the following code in jsFiddle: HTML: <div> The_Quick_Brown<br> Fox_Jumps_Over<br> The_Lazy_Dog </div> CSS: @font-face { font-family: 'Open Sans'; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; src: url('http://themes.googleusercontent.com/static/fonts/opensans/v6/cJZKeOuBrn4kERxqtaUH3T8E0i7KZn-EPnyo3HZu7kw.woff') format('woff'); } div { display: block; width: 496px; height: 86px; font-size: 1.3em; font-family: 'Open Sans'; font-style: normal; margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; background: cyan; letter-spacing: 1.44em; line-height: 1.44; overflow: hidden; } This is the view from Firefox 12.0. Take note of the partially obscured 'o' in 'brown', the position of 'g' in 'dog' and the underscore '_' at the bottom edge. This is the view from Google Chrome 19.0. Despite explicitly setting letter-spacing and line-height for the same font, why are the results still different?

  • UITableView with dynamic cell heights -- what do I need to do to fix scrolling down?

    - by Ian Terrell
    I am building a teensy tiny little Twitter client on the iPhone. Naturally, I'm displaying the tweets in a UITableView, and they are of course of varying lengths. I'm dynamically changing the height of the cell based on the text quite fine: - (CGFloat)heightForTweetCellWithString:(NSString *)text { CGFloat height = Buffer + [text sizeWithFont:Font constrainedToSize:Size lineBreakMode:LineBreakMode].height; return MAX(height, MinHeight); } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *text = // get tweet text for this indexpath return [self heightForTweetCellWithString:text]; } } I'm displaying the actual tweet cell using the algorithm in the PragProg book: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"TweetCell"; TweetCell *cell = (TweetCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [self createNewTweetCellFromNib]; } cell.tweet.text = // tweet text // set other labels, etc return cell; } When I boot up, all the tweets visible display just fine. However, when I scroll down, the tweets below are quite mussed up -- it appears that once a cell has scrolled off the screen, the cell height for the one above it gets resized to be larger than it should be, and obscures part of the cell below it. When the cell reaches the top of the view, it resets itself and renders properly. Scrolling up presents no difficulties. Here is a video that shows this in action: http://screencast.com/t/rqwD9tpdltd I've tried quite a bit already: resizing the cell's frame on creation, using different identifiers for cells with different heights (i.e. [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Identifier%d", rowHeight]), changing properties in Interface Builder... If there are additional code snippets I can post, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help!
