  • Error compiling Win32 API GUI code with MinGW

    Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm just getting started with win32 API programming in C++ and I'm having trouble compiling the winnie tutorial (http://www.relisoft.com/win32/winnie.html) with MinGW. My input and output: C:\Users\Eric\Projects g++ winnie.cpp -o winnie.exe /mingw/lib/libmingw32.a(main.o):main.c:(.text+0xd2): undefined reference to 'WinMain@16' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Any help would be very much appreciated.

    When I try to load a wap site with PHP HTTP request from my PC, host of the web site recognizes that I'm sending the request from a PC and redirects me to their actual web site and I can't load the wap site. Is there a way to behave like a mobile browser and prevent this redirection? Although an answer regarding any programming language is ok, a php specific answer will be better.

    Ok, I have a flowchart definition (basically, array of nodes and edges for each node). Now I want to calculate coordinates for every task in the flow, preferably hierarchycal style. I need something like Graph::Easy::Layout but I have no idea how to get nodes coordinates: I render nodes myself and I only want to retrieve box coordinates/size. Any suggestions? What I need is a cpan module avialable even in Debian repository.

    I have an iPhone app and would like to create iPad version of it. What is the best way to setup the project when you want an iPhone and iPad version of the app? I don't see that I'm able to use the same code base since the iPad version will have features in it that the iPhone version doesn't. It seems as though maintenance is going to go up with two similar code bases for the same app.

I've got a friend who offered to test it on the OS 4.0 beta, but I'm wondering in advance if I should bother. Will my application run under 4.0 or is it not backwards compatible? I have to imagine it will since apps built for 2.x run on 3.x just fine AFAIK. Any gotchas?

    On a company that I've worked, me and my colleagues, implemented a tailored document distribution system on top of XSL-FO. My task was to get the script to deliver the documents and configure the CUPS print server and the Fax server, so I never had the time to get my hands dirty on XSL-FO. I'm thinking of implementing something in the region that was made there but I'll need some templates to work with while testing. Where can I find some good tutorials on XSL-FO, since the fop process I've mastered already?

    I want to minimize a Delphi application to the systray instead of the task bar. The necessary steps seem to be the following: Create icon which should then be displayed in the systray. When the user clicks the [-] to minimize the application, do the following: Hide the form. Add the icon (step #1) to the systray. Hide/delete the application's entry in the task bar. When the user double-clicks the application's icon in the systray, do the following: Show the form. Un-minimize the application again and bring it to the front. If "WindowState" is "WS_Minimized" set to "WS_Normal". Hide/delete the application's icon in the systray. When the user terminates the application, do the following: Hide/delete the application's icon in the systray. That's it. Right? How could one implement this in Delphi? I've found the following code but I don't know why it works.   • Does oneway declaration in Android .aidl guarantee that method will be called in a separate thread?

    I am designing a framework for a client/server application for Android phones. I am fairly new to both Java and Android (but not new to programming in general, or threaded programming in particular). Sometimes my server and client will be in the same process, and sometimes they will be in different processes, depending on the exact use case. The client and server interfaces look something like the following: IServer.aidl: package com.my.application; interface IServer { /** * Register client callback object */ void registerCallback( in IClient callbackObject ); /** * Do something and report back */ void doSomething( in String what ); . . . } IClient.aidl: package com.my.application; oneway interface IClient { /** * Receive an answer */ void reportBack( in String answer ); . . . } Now here is where it gets interesting. I can foresee use cases where the client calls IServer.doSomething(), which in turn calls IClient.reportBack(), and on the basis of what is reported back, IClient.reportBack() needs to issue another call to IClient.doSomething(). The issue here is that IServer.doSomething() will not, in general, be reentrant. That's OK, as long as IClient.reportBack() is always invoked in a new thread. In that case, I can make sure that the implementation of IServer.doSomething() is always synchronized appropriately so that the call from the new thread blocks until the first call returns. If everything works the way I think it does, then by declaring the IClient interface as oneway, I guarantee this to be the case. At least, I can't think of any way that the call from IServer.doSomething() to IClient.reportBack() can return immediately (what oneway is supposed to ensure), yet IClient.reportBack still be able to reinvoke IServer.doSomething recursively in the same thread. Either a new thread in IServer must be started, or else the old IServer thread can be re-used for the inner call to IServer.doSomething(), but only after the outer call to IServer.doSomething() has returned. So my question is, does everything work the way I think it does? The Android documentation hardly mentions oneway interfaces.
