• How can I get FreeNAS to respond to libvirt shutdown requests

  I have a KVM VM of FreeNAS 0.7.1 Shere (revision 5127) running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 and I'm unable to convince the VM to shutdown from the host virsh shutdown freenas I would expect this to send some ACPI? trigger to the VM and FreeNAS then do what it's told. I'm not a FreeBSD fundi so I don't really know what packages or processes to poke to get this running. • .Net Compact Framework 2.0 touch and nice controls [.netcf 2.0]

  Hello! I would like to know if somebody knows free custom nice controls for .NET Compact Framework 2.0. There are nice controls as Manila Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566188), Sense Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648906) and so on for free, but they work only on .NET CF 3.5. Furthermore, there are others that you have to pay for them and for .NET CF 2.0 and 3.5 (Resco or Touch Control Suite). And there is one called Fluid (http://fluid.codeplex.com/) but it's so complicated, there are not exactly controls (are classes added to a host control) and there is not much documentation to work with it. Any nice controls for free and working in .NET CF 2.0? And with list sliders if it's possible? Thanks!

  Are there any similar frameworks like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET? I'm in theory after a framework that let's me create an entire webapp with just one classfile (conceptually) like Sinatra. I'm going to use it for something work-internal, where ASP.NET MVC is too "big" (and I get confused by it's usage) and I have WebForms up to my ears right now (doing a big webforms based project, currently hating it ;) ) Any suggestions? Oh, and I need to be able to host it in IIS. I would go for IronRuby with Sinatra, but I can't find a step-by-step tut for setting it up in IIS ;)

• Inheritance of Custom Attributes on Abstract Properties

  I've got a custom attribute that I want to apply to my base abstract class so that I can skip elements that don't need to be viewed by the user when displaying the item in HTML. It seems that the properties overriding the base class are not inheriting the attributes. Does overriding base properties (abstract or virtual) blow away attributes placed on the original property?   I've tried the bare method and the T4MVC method but so far both are routing me to the current URL instead of the default path with no arguments for the following action: public virtual ActionResult Index(byte? location, int? sublocation) { } So when I try Url.Action("Index","Locations", new {location="", system=""}) if I'm at a location already this method returns the path to where I'm already at instead of the default path with no arguments.   I desperately need source control to manage projects between more than one developer. A long time ago I used Visual Source Safe and it worked quite well. Can anybody recommend a free substitute? I have the following basic requirements: I need to host the repository on my own server. I do not want extra clutter within my source files, like CVS does. I need proper check in / check out, so that nobody can change a module until I've checked it back in. I don't want / need source code merging / branching. We use Delphi for web development, so many html files, images, sql files, etc. Any recommendations?

• Connect rails application to MsSQL 2005 from Windows

  Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to MsSQL, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance

  I made an automation Add-In for Excel, and I made several functions (formulas). I have a class which header looks like this (it is COM visible): [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.AutoDual)] [ComVisible(true)] public class Functions {} In a list of methods, I see: ToString(), Equals(), GetHashCode() and GetType() methods. Since all methods of my class are COM visible, I should somehow hide those 4. I succeeded with 3 of them: ToString(), Equals(), GetHashCode() but GetType() cannot be overriden. • "Mem Usage" higher than "VM Size" in WinXP Task Manager

  In my Windows XP Task Manager, some processes display a higher value in the Mem Usage column than the VMSize. My Firefox instance, for example shows 111544 K as mem usage and 100576 K as VMSize. According to the help file of Task Manager Mem Usage is the working set of the process and VMSize is the committed memory in the Virtual address space. My question is, if the number of committed pages for a process is A and the number of pages in physical memory for the same process is B, shouldn't it always be B = A? Isn't the number of pages in physical memory per process a subset of the committed pages? Or is this something to do with sharing of memory among processes? Please explain. (Perhaps my definition of 'Working Set' is off the mark). Thanks.

I thought it would have a virtual COM port driver but instead, it uses HID drivers.   Hello all, I've been struggling with this for quite awhile and haven't been able to find a solution. I need a user to be able to view multiple top level domains with a single login. My understanding is that this needs to be set in environment.rb and called with before_dispatch. • NSStream sockets missing data

  I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms. The following code will show you what is happening.   Hello, Im using Eclipse Galileo and have installed Subclipse. I looked at the svn repo url at http://www.liferay.com/web/brian.chan/blog/-/blogs/changes-to-anonymous-access-to-liferay-s-svn and then tried to get Liferay from their SVN repository in Eclipse, using svn://svn.liferay.com/repos/public --username guest,but i get the following error message: Error validating location: "org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException:No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. svn: Cant connect to host 'svn.liferay.com':No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it Any way to fix this ?   I'm trying to import an already existing git repository with multiple branches and tags into gerrit. I'm following the official guide at https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/install-quick.html#_already_existing_project. However, when issuing the push command all the branches and tags, except "master" which I'm currently in, are "prohibited by Gerrit". The output is something like this: user@host:~/my-project$ git push ssh://user@localhost:29418/demo-project *:* [....] * [new branch] master -> master ! • Elmah on MVC website with WordPress/php sub directory

  I have created a website using ASP.NET MVC and use ELMAH for error handling, this works perfectly. After setting up a virtual directory on my website under /blog and adding the necessary WordPress php files and mysql db, I get the below error come up. Could not load file or assembly 'Elmah' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I think this has something to do with the fact that ELMAH is applying itself to all sub-directories. Is there a way that I can tell ELMAH to ignore everything under /blog? Or is there a way to get around this? Thanks in advance.

  I am getting the following error on my page: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. The problem is with the following code SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587); What's weird is that when testing it at my localhost, everything works fine, but when I put it on my 1and1 web host it generates the error above. I contacted their support and here's their answer. We do check the error logs and the operation require a FullTrust environment which currently fall under restriction on .NET Framewor k What should I do?

  When we click the check box "Install files for complex script and right to left languages (including Thai)" in Regional and Language settings what exactly happens? Changes to registry keys? I noticed that it installs some .fon files and keyboard dlls. Is this totally necessary if one just wish to read complex script on Windows XP? My test inside VirutalBox as Windows 7 as the host OS seems to indicate that for reading Complex Script need not be enabled. Yet that's not what all the literature on the subject says. What's going on?

  I'm trying to run SQuirreL SQL. I've downloaded it and installed it, but when I try to run it I get this error message: Java Virtual Machine Launcher. Could not find the main class. Program will exit. I get the gist of this, but I have not idea how to fix it. Any help? more info: I'm on Windows XP pro. I have java 1.6 installed, and other apps are running OK. The install ran OK. I believe I've followed the installation instructions correctly. To run it, I'm invoking the squirrel-sql.bat file. • Can iptables allow Squid to process a request, then redirect the response packets to another port?

  I'm trying to test a fancy traffic analyzer app, which I have running on port 8890. My current plan is to let any HTTP request come into Squid, on port 3128, and let it process the request, and then just before it sends the response back, use iptables to redirect the response packets (leaving port 3128) to port 8890. I've researched this all night, and tried many iptables commands, but I'm missing something and my hair is falling out. Is this even possible? If so, what iptables incantation could do it? If not, any idea what might work on a single host, given multiple remote browser clients?

• How to get SVN to ignore a directory inside an externals definition

  I'm using subversion to host my own repository for a WordPress installation. I've got it set up so that all of the core WordPress files are in their own directory (called wordpress) and set up to use svn:externals to link to the WordPress repository. I then have my own copy of the wp-content directory (located outside of the wordpress directory) which does not use svn:externals. This is all working fine. When I update my repository, the WordPress core gets updated. Since the WordPress repository contains it's own wp-content directory, it also updates that directory. So my file structure ends up looking something like this: / --/wordpress/ (wordpress repo) -----/wp-admin/ -----/wp-content/ --/wp-content/ (my local repo) I end up having two separate versions of the wp-content folder (one from my repo and one from the WordPress repo). I don't want the one from the WordPress repo (or at least not in that location). Is there a way for me to set svn to ignore the wordpress/wp-content directory while still using externals definition?
