• Windows doesn't get access to internet though linux easily does

  We have a very interesting problem. The network is configured in this way: internet is connected to Trendnet switch TS DHCP server at 192.168.0.1 running on Ubuntu (S) is connected to internet switch DNS is also configured on 192.168.0.1 on S D-Link Wi-Fi boosters are connected to switch TS PCs use D-Link PCI-E Wi-Fi cards to get access to network PCs have both Ubuntu and Windows 7 There are about 40 PCs. When PC is booted to Ubuntu it easily gets access to internet. But when it's booted to Windows 7, it gets a valid IP-address, but doesn't get access to internet. The address, mask, DNS, GW-address are totally the same as when it's booted under Ubuntu. The S is reacheble and pingable. Sometimes when we are lucky the PC gets access to Internet, but after rebooting it can lose it. When PC under Windows has access, it has totally the same settings as when it doesn't. What can be done? UPDATE I shared a dropbox with 2 captures of traffic. Ping.pcap is a capture of pinging 8.8.8.8. And google-browser.pcap is a capture of opening a google.com in a browser, both of them are in tcpdump formats and made by Wireshark on Win PC. The MAC of Win PC ends on b7:63 and IP is 192.168.0.130. • Fix single entry from mbr

  I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S. • View a pdf with quick webview though apache proxy

  I have a site(IIS) that is accessed via a proxy in apache(on an IBM i). This site serves PDFs which has quick web view and if I access a pdf directly from the IIS server the PDFs starts to display immediately but if I go through the proxy I have to wait until the entire pdf downloads before I can view it. In the apache config file I use ProxyPass /path/ http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ <LocationMatch "/path/"> Header set Cache-Control "no-cache" </LocationMatch> I tried adding SetEnv proxy-sendcl to LocationMatch directive this had no effect. • What would cause my SendMail server not to acknowledge receiving a TCP Sequence?

  My TCP/IP Stack knowledge is a little rusty so please bear with me.... I have a CentOS 5.7 server with SendMail and am having seeing intermittent timeout issues sending email (particularly larger email) to other remote domains. It doesn't happen with all attachments or recipient domains. Just some. After some extended troubleshooting, I think I've narrowed it down to TCP Sequences not being acknowledged. Here's a breakdown of the TCP session from a packet capture I collected directly on my MTA (fooMTA): Packet 1 - 11: Standard TCP handshake followed by initial SMTP conversation. No errors. Packet #12 Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 231. Ack 91. Packet #13 FooMTA: TCP sequence 91. Ack 305. Packet #14 FooMTA: TCP sequence 1115. Ack 305. Packet #15 Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 305. Ack 2495. Packet #16 FooMTA: TCP sequence 2495. Ack 305. Packet #17 FooMTA: TCP sequence 5255. Ack 305. Packet #18: Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 305. Ack 5255. Packet #19: FooMTA: TCP sequence 6635. Ack 305. Packet #20: FooMTA: TCP sequence 8015. Ack 305. Packet #21: Recipient MTA: TCP Sequence 305. Ack 8015. Packet #22: FooMTA: TCP Sequence 10775. Ack 305. Packet #23: FooMTA: TCP Sequence 13535. Ack 305 It keeps going like this with my server still thinking it hasn’t received sequence 305… in response the remote side eventually retransmits its prior data thinking that it never arrived. Eventually the gap gets so large that no new data is sent and the remote MTA keeps retransmitting old stuff. This contributes to an exponential backoff and eventually the remote side gives up. What’s strange to me is that I see the “missing” TCP sequence (305 in this case) arriving back to my server (via a packet capture collected directly from fooMTA) So I don’t get why my server keeps asking for it. Could this be firewall related? What would be the next step in troubleshooting?

I've tried the following: 1) Removing CA-certificate-checking (works) 2) Adding required CA-certificate for the whole site (works) 3) Adding "SSLVerifyClient optional" does not work 4) ++ Server/Application Information Local: -OpenSSL v.1.0.1x -Apache 2.4.3 -Ubuntu -mpm: event -every configuration should be turned on (failing) server: -OpenSSL 0.9.8e -Apache 2.4.2 -SunOS -mpm: worker -every configuration should be turned on Please let me know if more information is needed, I'll provide it instantly. Brief sum-up: -Running apache 2.4 -Server certificates works just fine -Client certificates for some /Locations does not work, fails with errors PS: Could it be related with the OpenSSL version and the "Renegotiation" stuff related to TLS/SSLv3?

• How to make Nginx fire 504 immediately is server is not available?

  I have Nginx set up as a load balancer with cookie-based stickiness. The logic is: If the cookie is NOT there, use round-robbing to choose a server from cluster. If the cookie is there, go to the server that is associated with the cookie value. Server is then responsible for setting the cookie. What I want to add is this: If the cookie is there, but server is down, fallback to round-robbing step to choose next available server. So actually I have load balancing and want to add failover support on top of it. I have managed to do that with the help of error_page directive, but it doesn't work as I expected it to. The problem: 504 (and the fallback associated with it) fires only after 30s timeout even if the server is not physically available. So what I want Nginx to do is fire a 504 (or any other error, doesn't matter) immediately (I suppose this means: when TCP connection fails). This is the behavior we can see in browsers: if we go directly to server when it is down, browser immediately tells us that it can't connect. Moreover, Nginx seems to be doing this for 502 error: if I intentionally misconfigure my servers, Nginx fires 502 immediately. • Unable to install Xdebug

  I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up?   Hello, I downloaded all jar files for Spring Security 3.0 and added them to my lib folder in Netbeans 6.8. • "CB Monitor Windows" proccess blocks XP shutdown

  I've got a home server. Simple, low-power-consumption Intel Atom based PC built by me. It runs XP since Win7 was an overkill for this poor thing. Everything was OK, always used Avast! antivirus + Spybot. However, it stopped shutting down after a while. Few days ago I noticed a "CB Monitor Windows" proccess is blocking this (didn't quit from rdp after sending the shutdown command). What is this proccess? How can I disable/remove it? Tried Malwarebytes, found ONE malware, removed it, did a reboot, no change. Avast is up-to-date, Spybot is the same. What could I do?

  We are having a strange problem with our SVN repository One particular project is failing to check out on some dev's workstations. The error is: svn: E720005: Can't open file 'C:\path\.svn\pristine\4e\4e576fad0f625706379863e6051aac33097dbee0.svn-base': Access is denied. All branches, tags and trunk fail at the same point of checkout Other projects in the repository can be checked out fine One of our devs can check out the problem project fine. We have tried 3 different versions of TortoiseSVN (both UI and command line) and another build of win32svn. The one who can check out is using the same client version as one who cannot. Any ideas?

  I installed 11.10 ~two weeks ago and run into some strange troubles recently. Installation was on brand new laptop with clear 128GB SSD. I opted for encrypting home directory. Apart from that I accepted defaults during the installation. There is no other OS on my laptop. I had circa 40GB in use when (for the third time) I got to see this very unpleasant window: Twice situation was pretty bad and whole system slowed down considerably. After reboot I could not login to graphical interface (with an error message informing about insufficient space) and had to remove some files from command line first. Third time I still managed to quickly delete some files and it helped. My laptop is mainly work environment: so no torrents, games, just two movies. Only media filling space are ~20GB of pictures, and bunch of pdfs. Working mostly on PostgreSQL & PostGIS, GeoServer and QGIS recently. Although I had lots of opportunities to test and practice my backups I would be extremely grateful if somebody could point me to any potential solutions to this problem. My laptop has been bought just before I installed Ubuntu, and it came without OS. Could that be hardware issue? Or is the encrypted home causing me headaches? Thanks for help!   I'm having some trouble creating a urlacl reservation in Windows Server 2008; probably this a rookie mistake. The command line I'm using is: netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:99898/ user=ben The error that I see is: Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. There is a local user account named 'ben' that has admin privileges. I've made sure to put a trailing slash after the port number in the URL. Google and MSDN documentation are letting me down now - does anyone have any clue what I'm doing incorrectly?

  I have a command line application that I am currently using SharpDX (Direct2D 1.0) to render to PNG files. This is a window-less application. It's currently creating a SharpDX.WIC.WicBitmap, a WicRenderTarget, then rendering to that. I then save the WicBitmap to the PNG file. For various reasons, I need to migrate to Direct2D 1.1 to take advantage of some of the effects available in 1.1. I'm trying to get a SharpDX.Direct2D1.Bitmap that I can save as PNG. I cannot use FromWicBitmap because that copies the bitmap, it does not share it. I see CreateSharedBitmap in the Direct2D1 API that takes a IWICBitmapLock. However, I do not see this implemented as a constructor of SharpDX.Direct2D.Bitmap. • Reset DRAC to factory defaults

  I put a DRAC that has not been used in a long time into a PowerEdge 1750 running CentOS 5.8. Because we run our DRACs on a separate network, we don't change the password from the default (root/calvin), but evidently someone changed this one. I tried the regular command line reset (racadm racresetcfg), but I get the following error: ERROR: Unable to perform requested operation. If the operation attempted was to configure DRAC, possible reason may be that Local Configuration using RACADM is disabled. This implies to me that racadm is able to communicate, but there is a setting on the DRAC that is preventing it from working. I was not able to find any references to this error in any Dell documentation. Has anyone seen this problem and/or know what I can do about it? (The DRAC is useless is I can't log in to it.)

  When I am running ab on my website I get a ton of these responses: SSL read failed - closing connection SSL read failed - closing connection SSL read failed - closing connection And some times it is successful. I am on a MacBook Pro 10.7.2. What is weird is, someone else does the same test on a very simular machine, not OS Lion, right next to me and has no problems. Any ideas? I am sure this is something on my machine because I get ab to work all over the place. The command is simply: ab -c 100 -n 1000 https://mywebsite.com One other thing, when I look in the nginx logs, I do see some requests coming in from the ab so it is working some. And also, the logs do not show the failed ones.

I verified the inode number and it comes out the same as below. • Running mysql 5.5 on centos 5.9

  I installed mysql using yum install mysql-server on centos 5.9 and realized it's version 5.0. I need version 5.5 so then I did yum install mysql55-server however I couldn't find a way to start server version 5.5 instead of 5.0. service mysqld start will start 5.0 server and removing mysql 5.0 doesn't help either because service mysqld start fail to find mysqld service Update 1 Nov 2013: I noticed mysql55 package was being installed to /opt/rh/mysql55/root/usr/bin, so I appended that into the start of my PATH env var but service mysqld start still runs 5.0 server. If I tried running the server using mysqld_safe located on above mysql55 path but it says [root@***** bin]# mysqld_safe Use "scl enable mysql55 'service ...'" invocation Not quite sure what it means.
