  • Creating WCF Services using Dynamic Languages and DLR

    I was curious how anyone would go about creating WCF based services using a dynamic language like IronPython or IronRuby. These languages do not have the concept of interfaces. How would someone define service contracts? Would we need to rely on static languages for such kind of tasks? I am a big fan of Python in particular and would like to know if this can be done at this point.

  • SharePoint 2010 FBA with custom form - 403 error

    I have a SharePoint 2010 site that is configured for Forms Based Auth using custom role, membership and profile providers. This works perfectly using the OOTB SharePoint 2010 FBA form (ie. under /_forms in the web app virtual directory). My problem is with a custom login form that is located in a separate folder, /Landing/Login/default.aspx. I've configured the web app to point to this form (contains an unmodified ASP.NET login control), which is rendered when the user hits the root URL. The problem comes when they submit their credentials and the form posts back for the redirection to /_layouts/Authenticate.aspx. It stops cold with a 403. If I revert back to the OOTB FBA form (using the same providers) everything works fine. Any suggestions on what could be going wrong?

  • Code to plug into a Zend Framework project

    Hello everyone, Im currently working on a website in the Zend Framework and finding it very useful indeed. I want both a blog and a forum in this website and wondered if there are any open-source projects of this nature that I would be able to simply copy and paste into my modular project. I was using Wordpress and BBpress previously so something like that would be good, although I do not want to hack my Zend Auth to use the Wordpress authentication system, seems like too much hard work/hacky to do. So any ideas? Plus where are the best Zend framework 'plugins' (similar to wordpress)? Thanks everyone.

  • WCF Security Transport Security Questions

    I'm writing a set of WCF services that rely on transport security with Windows Authentication using the trusted subsystem model. However, I want to perform authorization based on the original client user that initiated the request (e.g. a user from a website with a username/password). I'm planning to achieve this by adding the original user's credentials in the header before the client sends the message and then the service will use the supplied credentials to authorize the user. So I have a few questions about this implementation: 1) using transport security with windows auth, I do NOT need to worry about again encrypting the passed credentials to ensure the validity... WCF automatically takes care of this - is this correct? 2) how does this implementation prevent a malicious service, running under some windows account within the domain, to send a message tagged with spoofed credentials. for e.g. a malicious service replaces the credentials with an Admin user to do something bad?     I am trying to set up Single sign on for 2 websites that reside on the same domain e.g. http://mydomain (top level site that contains a forms-auth login page) http://mydomain/admin (seperately developed website residing in a Virtual Application within the parent website) Have read a few articles on Single Sign on e.g. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/SingleSignon.aspx And they seem to suggest it is just a case of having the same machinekey section in each web.config so that the cookie encryprion and decryption is the same for each application I have set this up and I never get prompted for credentials in the sub-website (the virtual application) I always get prompted in the parent site. In addition to having the same machinekey I've also tried adding the same <authentication> and <authorisation> elements Any idea what I could be missing?

  • Facebook Connect login button not rendering

    I'm trying to implement a Facebook Connect Single Sign-on site. I originally just had a Connect button (<fb:login-button>), which the user had to click every time they wanted to sign in. I now have the auto login and logout features working. That is, my site will detect a logged-in Facebook account and automatically authenticate them if it can find a match to one of my site's user accounts, and automatically deauthenticate if the Facebook session is lost. I also have a manual logout button that will log the user out of both my site and Facebook. All of those are working correctly, but now my original Connect button is intermittently not being rendered correctly. It just shows up as the plain XHTML (ie., it looks like plain text--not a button--and is unclickable), and no XFBML is applied. I can log in and out of Facebook on another tab and my site will notice the session changes and update accordingly. The logout seems to be working fine: when clicked, it deauthenticates the user and logs them out of Facebook, as intended. The issue seems to usually happen after a Facebook user is logged out, but it happens somewhat intermittently; it might happen before they ever login, and it goes away after a few minutes/refreshes. Some cookies are left over after the login/logout process, but deleting them does not fix the issue. Restarting the browser does not fix the issue. The user is definitely logged out of Facebook and my site when the problem occurs. I've checked for Facebook sessions and site authentication. All external script calls are being served up correctly. I have a suspicion that there's something else I need to be doing upon logout (like clearing session or cookies), but according to everything I've read about Facebook Connect, all I need to do is call the logout function (and deauthenticate on my server-side). I'm really at a loss; does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong?

  • Bulk email sender and list management API

    I'm looking for a way to programmatically manage email lists and send large numbers of emails to these lists. The general idea would be similar to how social networking sites send email notifications when a friend posts new content. Since a user could have tens of thousands of followers, it doesn't seem realistic to send these directly from my application so I'm curious if there's a good way to handle this through a service provider. My company is using Google apps but I'm not an expert on their API. Our environment is ASP.NET MVC. Any advice is most appreciated!

  • Building Eclipse RCP application, running fails

    Hi, after successfully building my application the start fails because it relies on config files which are located in the META-INF directory and after the build this directory is zipped into a jar file, hence making it unable to access the config files. After manually unzipping the jar, deleting the jar and renaming the directory with xxx.jar the program runs without a problem. The config files are needed for SSO login (Kerberos).     Is it possible to call winrar through perl on a windows system, such as perl -e "rar a -rr10 -s c:\backups\backup.rar @backup.lst" If so, is there a more efficient way to do this? I've looked up "perl -e" +winrar on google, however none of the results gave me any answer that was remotely close to what i was looking for. The system Im running this on is a Windows XP system. Im open to doing this in another language like python if its easier, however I am more comfertable with perl.

  • Schema compare with MS Data Tools in VS2008

    When performing a schema compare having db_owner rights on the target database results in the following error: The user does not have permission to perform this action. Using the SQL Server Profiler I figured out this error occurs executing a query targeting the master db view: [sys].[dm_database_encryption_keys] While specifically ignoring all object types but Tables one would presume the SQL Compare doesn't need access to the db encryption keys. Also note: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vstsdb/thread/c11a5f8a-b9cc-454f-ba77-e1c69141d64b/ One solution would be to GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE to the db user, but in my case I'm not hosting the database services and won't get the rights to the server state. Also tried excluding DatabaseEncryptionKey element in the compare file. <PropertyElementName> <Name>Microsoft.Data.Schema.Sql.SchemaModel.SqlServer.ISql100DatabaseEncryptionKey</Name> <Value>ExcludedType</Value> </PropertyElementName> Anyone has an workaround this?

    I am calling a REST service that requires basic auth and I respond to the didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge delegate OK NSURLCredential *credential = [[NSURLCredential alloc] initWithUser:self.user password:self.password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]; [[challenge sender] useCredential:credential forAuthenticationChallenge:challenge]; [credential release]; The Credentials are valid for the Session but I would like for my App to be able to switch between servers and therefore need to "reset" the Session so it asks again for a challenge. I can of course try the option of not storing the credentials for the Session and supply them for each call but this does not seem like a good idea. Any ideas would be appreciated!

  • Replacement for C low level programming?

    So C obviously has a pretty dominant low level programming stronghold.....but is anything coming out that challenges/wants to replace it? Python/C#/etc all seem to be aimed at very high level, but when it comes down to nitty-gritty low level stuff C seems to be king and I haven't seen much "try" to replace that? Is there anything out there, or does learning C for low level stuff seem to be the standard?

  • How can I use django.core.files.File

    The docs for django.core.files.File imply I can do this: print File(open(path)).url but the File object has no attribute 'url' However, django.db.models.fields.files.FieldFile extends File and does have all the attributes described in the docs for File, but I can't create one without giving it a model field. All I want it something that does what the docs for django.core.files.File (link above) say it does, take a python file and give it attributes like 'url' and 'path' and 'name', can anyone help?
