• Backup Client/Server Software that Syncs only the Delta?

  I have a co-located server, and a desktop computer. I push small things and large ammounts of small files (like my iTunes) into a JungleDisk cloud. If a few files change there, no big deal, the file gets re-uped. For larger files JungleDisk backup isn't helpful. Things like movies and VMware images that change a lot, but I want backed up. Just not to JungleDisk since that would cost me even more money. I am looking for a product, closed or open source (preferably open source) that will sync the change, or delta, to my personal server on a schedule. That way I can keep a copy of my larger things, without paying JungleDisk a ton more since they are in the range of many Gigabytes. Right now these few items are backed up over FTP, and take forever. Both the client and server are windows environments.

• Monitoring System for the cloud?

  I need a monitoring system, much like ganglia / nagios that is build for the cloud. I need it to support : Adding / removing nodes dynamically. (Node shuts down, dose not imply node failure...) Dynamic node based categorization, meaning node can identify them self as being part of group X (ganglia gets this almost right, but lacks the dynamic part...) Does not require multicast support (generally not allowed in cloud based setups) Plugins for recent cool stuff such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Mongo would be cool. More features include: External API, web interface and co. I've looked at Ganglia, munin and they both seem be almost there (but not exactly). I would also go for reasonably priced Software as Service solution. I'm currently doing research, so Suggestions are highly appreciated. Thank you, Maxim

• OSX Parallels 5 - can't share internet connection when using host-only networking...

  I've just upgraded from Parallels 3 to Parallels 5, but am having a problem matching my previous configuration. I am a web developer so run a local web server on my mac. I used to allow access to this from the virtual machines in Parallels by using 'Host-Only Networking' and then in OSX enabling internet sharing from my wifi/ethernet to the virtual ethernet ports that Parallels created. The setup was based on: http://www.craigfrancis.co.uk/features/setup/parallels/ The new version of Parallels doesn't create any network adaptors that are available for internet sharing in OSX - just VNIC's which only show under an ifconfig...   I signed up for github and notice the ssh key option which looked interesting. I originally expected something like an ssl key (name, co name, etc). After going through it i notice i only put a password and it is always myuser@comp-name (this is windows). Why? I thought it was a user/pass id and i can create separate keys for separate purpose for privacy reasons. Now i see i am required to use one to create a repository. Also i see something about a 'private key file' when looking at options. What exactly is an SSH Key and how can i create a separate user without creating a separate login in windows.

• Eventtriggers frequence

  Masters, I try to set some event task on windows server 2003. I use this tutorial: http://www.petri.co.il/how-to-use-eventtriggersexe-to-send-e-mail-based-on-event-ids.htm My problem is when i set an event for example "If Event Id 528 in the security log, than send an e-mail.", then the eventrigger fire up the task continously, and i get the mail over and over. Any suggestion how to set eventriggers.exe to send e-mail once after the event occure in the event log? Thank you.

• Is there such a thing as an IP femtocell, and what does it do?

  My dad mentioned a co-worker suggested using a device, that might use CDMA to route calls through IP to save costs on a certain overseas project we're on- since our home base is quite far from there. I've never heard of such a device, so if it does exist, I'm wondering, if it's specific to particular ISPs, or if you can just pick one off the shelf, plug it into an arbitrary Internet connection, and make calls using it and a cellphone of some sort? As you can tell, details are sketchy, so... if such a device doesn't exist, saying so might be a right answer ;)

• What is the method to reset the Planar 1910m monitor?

  My monitor (a Planar, apparently model number PL1910M) is not working. (It is flashing a green / orange sequence which I believe to be an error code. The sequence, in case it helps consists of orange and green three times quickly followed by a longer orange, then another green followed by a long period where both colors appear to be present). I vaguely recall a co-worker suffering from a similar problem, and our IT department "resetting" the monitor by holding down a certain set of keys as they apply power. Unfortunately, I do not remember what that key sequence was, our IT department is not responding, and the Planar web site is blocked by the content filtering firewall we have in place! What is the sequence to perform the reset? (For bonus geek-credit, what does the code mean... as if it indicates a blown component clearly a reset will not help me. ;-))

• Google Drive stripped Outlook 2010 of all emails, contacts, etc

  I have a business that requires I use the business email: [email protected] I loaded Google Drive as a free cloud to share project details with co-worker. Side effect is that Outlook 2010 does not work now. All incoming emails are now transferred to my personal Google account. Now I can not send business emails inclusive of business headers and footers since Outlook is erroring on send/receive. And all my history of email organization on Outlook is gone. I was previously successfully syncing outlook through Google calendar to keep my blackberry sync'd Your help is appreciated - thank you. David

• Calendar shows lighter/greyed out items

  Here's a screenshot of my Windows 8.1 Calendar. As you can see, some of the items appear lighter/greyed out (ie on the 15th, 21st). Why is this? I have not noticed any difference between these items, and none of the ideas I've had for why (ie items without a specific time are lighter) have fitted. My calendar is synced to hotmail. The calendar online (hotmail.co.uk). (There are a couple of new events, but nothing should have changed with the earlier ones.) This event appears lighter. But this event does not.

• Avoiding double NAT with PPPoA connection

  I've got an ASUS RT-N56U wending its way to me and have been thinking about how to set this up on my home network. I currently have a Netgear DG634g V5 and was hoping to use this device as a modem only, with everything else being done by the router. Problem is, my ISP uses PPPoA and the asus seems only to support PPPoE. I'm aware that a double NAT configuration should be avoided and I've seen some instructions here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/33700-17-ultimate-modem-router-setup-thread Specifically, I was going to follow the guidance in the section entitled "Chaining Two Networks Together In a Cascading Fashion (Modem handles PPPoA)". That seems like it could work. However, is this a double NAT configuration or even a good way to do it? Would UPnP still work? The other option, I understand, is to buy the Draytek Vigor 120 but I'd ideally like to avoid the cost of that if its not necessary.

• apache php access rights configuration

  Hi, I am a complete apache and co newb. Currently it serves only the default page. On the default page, the user can not list the directory or files. When I create a directory, say /var/www/foobar and place files in it, the user can by doing: www.mydomain.org/foobar see the contents of the directory. I run pretty much the default configuration. on Directory "/", I have FollowSymlinks and AllowOverride(none) on what DocumentRoot points to I have Indexes FollowSymlinks MultiViews and "allow from all" set. My questions are: Can I stop people from listing subdirectories? Can people, if I do not change the configuration, in some way read the php files in there? (I mean not the rendered page, I mean the .php page source.) Pointers to good resources about this would also be nice. Thx in Advance.

• Can GoogleApps exist with Exchange 2003

  I am looking at the next step in our Groupware solutions. Rather got with a conventional add a new MS Server/MS Exchange to allow for growth and expanding offices. Could an Office operate with both an existing Exchange server setup and migrate a portion of mailboxes to the GoogleApps platform? I want to see if the we could use the GoogleApps for managers and larger mailboxes, and leave a large amount of small mailboxes on the existing hardware that is configured for Exchange/outlook? Can the two co-exist in an longterm configuration, where they can 'play nice' together? Is there any options that would allow for for this and would this have limitations? Such as the Free/busy connectors (Calendaring)? Is there any pitfalls for this type of design? Thanks

So, google.com (us) will index ONLY site.com/us and take in consideration site.com/us/sitemap.html google.co.uk will index only site.com/uk and site.com/uk/sitemap.html Same for the rest of the search engines, including Yahoo, Bing etc. Any idea on how to achieve this? • Connection to website interrupted/reset. Why?

  When navigating to some websites (like victorsosea.com, citibank.co.in etc.) on Google Chrome, I get a message that the 'connection to www.site.com was interrupted'. If I try on Firefox, it says 'The connection to the server was reset'. This happens no matter what internet connection I use on my laptop. Be it my home internet or office internet. I have tried using Google DNS address as well but that does not seem to solve the problem. I have been facing this problem randomly for some websites. Kindly let me know how I can resolve the issue. • Using PowerShell, in Active Direcotry, how would I change all the DNS A records that have a given IP to a new IP?

  We've been moving data centers and I have a lot of old records that were not correctly but in DNS as CNAME records, but A records that have a direct IP (e.g. 192.168.100.n) and they're all moving to a new subnet (10.19.100.n). I just need to write a powershell script to change all those records. I don't understand how to iterate over all the entries in each of the zones. Also, all the examples I've seen involve adding new zones, but there aren't any examples I can find on modifying existing A records.

  I am about to get a ton of business cards printed from my new corporation, and I am allowed to have a QR code on it, and I would really like to be able to add a photo to be attached to the vcard. • SSL Certificate Stops Working after Server Reboot on IIS7, W2K8

  We recently upgraded from W2K3/IIS6 to W2K8/IIS7 and have been having problems with our SSL Certificate (Thawte 123 SSL certificate) ceasing to work after rebooting. Initially, the intermediate certificates would stop working and we could repair the problem by reinstalling all of them after the reboot (annoying, but not the end of the world). Unfortunately, this is no longer working. The certificate chain has been doublechecked by several tools and people with decent knowledge but no one has been able to identify the cause of the problem. The bindings in IIS have been checked as well The cert itself is also still valid. NOTE 1: I have seen THIS question which seems to be very similar, but there is no satisfactory answer in that post and it's a year old so not likely to get one any time soon. • Internet access using Edimax BR-6204WG as NIC

  My internet access at home is provided by Virgin Media via their superhub. I have a laptop with no NIC - however I do have a spare wireless router, the Edimax BR-6204WG, which I have been led to believe can be used to bridge wireless connections. Only problem is, I'm not sure how to go about doing this. It prompted him to install software in the notification tray, but he clicked on the wrong thing and the icon went away without him installing that software. How can I get that icon back? He can't install the software then. I know that you can download the software from the site, but we did that and were having issues from that too.   My workstation was recently updated to Windows 7. I've downloaded putty and have configured it to the same settings I had under Vista. Whenever I ssh to a vm running Centos 5.4 and try to run emacs on a file, I'm getting an error about a connection to an X server: [ecto1 ~]$ emacs foo.bar Connection lost to X server `localhost:10.0' I never received this error message when I had Vista. I can get around it by aliasing emacs to 'emacs -nw', but I don't feel that I should have to do this. My co-worker has the same hardware that had the same upgrade and his sessions do not seem to be doing this. Any advice? I can't find anything on google and don't know where else to start. • What's required to enable communication between two IP ranges located behind one switch?

  Within our co-located networking closet, we have control over two ranges of 254 addresses, e.g. 64.123.45.0/24 and 65.234.56.0/24. The problem is, if a host has only one IP address, or a block of addresses in only one range, it can't contact any of the addresses in the other subnet. All of our hosts use our hosting provider's respective gateway, e.g. 64.123.45.1 or 65.234.56.1 A host on the 64.123.45.0/24 range can contact the 65.234.56.1 gateway and vice-versa Everything in our closet is connected to an HP ProCurve 2810 (a Layer 2-only switch), which connects through a Juniper NetScreen-25 firewall to the outside world What can I do to enable communication between the two ranges? Is there some settings I can change, or do I need better networking equipment?
