• jQuery Date Picker where text input is read only

  Hi all, I want to use the Jquery datepicker. I've got it setup using an the alt field option. I'm displaying Y-M-D in the text field, but submitting Y-M-D. Everything works fine so far, sending the correct data, etc. However I want to stop the user from being able to manually type a date. I add originally set the INPUT field to disabled, which worked in every browser except IE. In IE it would popup the date picker but then not close after clicking a date. Does anyone know the best way to do this?

  I am trying to convert different files to a flash compatible .mp4 file with ffmpeg, but i cant seem to succeed. Off cource the objective is to get the greatest quality with the smallest filesize. So far I have this, that works but it doesnt play in a flash player of some reason, and the result isnt that great, anybody got any tips on how to improve this conversion? ffmpeg -i input.file -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -r 25 -b 560000 -s 610x340 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ab 64 -ar 44100 output.file Would be great the se other peoples experiences with this type of conversion.

  I am considering migrating to Firebird. To have a "quick start" approach I downloaded the trial of a conversion tool (DBConvert) and tried it. I just picked up a random tool, this tool doesn't convert procedures, functions and triggers (I don't think it is a limit of the trial since there is not an explicit reference to sp, sf and triggers in the link above). Anyway by trying that tool I had the message: "The DB cannot be converted succesfully because some FK names are too long." This is because in some tables I have FK whose description is 32 chars. Is this a real firebird limit or it is possible to overcome it somehow (of course renaming the FK is an extreme option because it is extra work)? Anyway how to convert a MS SQL DB fully to FIREBIRD? Is there a valid tool? Did someone succed in a conversion of non trivial databases?

• Why my print current date time (C language) gives different answer

  I want to get the current date (day, mon and year). I found out there are some functions in C to do that like ctime (get the string of time), localtime and gmtime. I tried with following code but the output are different. I get this output: The date and time is Tue Apr 20 2010 (which is correct) The year is : 110 The year is : 110.   While trying to come-up with a servlet based application to read files and manipulate them (image type conversion) here is a question that came up to me: Is it possible to inspect a file content and know the filetype? Is there a standard that specifies that each file MUST provide some type of marker in their content so that the application will not have to rely on the file extension constraints? Consider an application scenario: I am creating an application that will be able to convert different file formats to a set of output formats. Say user uploads an PDF, my application can suggest that the possible conversion formats are microsoft word or TIFF or JPEG etc. As my application will gradually support different file formats (over a period of time), I want my application to inspect the input file instead of having the user to specify the format. And suggest to user the possible formats of output. I understand this is an open ended, broad question. Please let me know if it needs to be modified. Thanks, Ayusman

• Date range/query problem..

  Am hoping someone can help me out a bit with date ranges... I have a table with 3 fields id, datestart, dateend I need to query this to find out if a pair of dates from a form are conflicting i.e table entry 1, 2010-12-01, 2010-12-09 from the form 2010-12-08, 20-12-15 select id from date_table where '2010-12-02' between datestart and dateend; That returns me the id that I want, but what I would like to do is to take the date range from the form and do a query similar to what I have got that will take both form dates 2010-12-08, 20-12-15 and query the db to ensure that there is no conflicting date ranges in the table. Am sat scratching my head with the problem... TIA

  I am looking to find an best way to find a date from date ranges that may or may not be contiguous (I am trying to avoid a cursor, or a heavy function if possible). Lets say I have hotel guests that come and go (check in, check out). I want to find the date that a certain guest stayed their 45th night with us. • C# Bug or Brain Teaser? Cast working only with Coalesce (??) Operator

  This is very strange, maybe someone can explain what's happening, or this is a bug (though I tend to think that this is probably just something intricate about C#). The following code throws the error "Cannot implicitly convert type 'uint?' to 'uint'.": public void Test(UInt32? p) { UInt32 x = p; } However, this code works without error: public void Test(UInt32? p) { UInt32 x = p ?? 1; } Huh? Why does this work? Why would the coalesce operator cause implicit conversion of UInt32? (nullable) to UInt32 (non-nullable), while the first error message says that there is no implicit conversion between those types?

• AES Key encoded byte[] to String and back to byte[]

  In the similar question "Conversion of byte[] into a String and then back to a byte[]" is said to not to do the byte[] to String and back conversion, what looks like apply to most cases, mainly when you don't know the encoding used. But, in my case I'm trying to save to a DB the javax.crypto.SecretKey data, and recoverd it after. The interface provide a method getEncoded() which returns the key data encoded as byte[], and with another class I can use this byte[] to recover the key. So, the question is, how do I write the key bytes as String, and later get back the byte[] to regenerate the key?

  I encountered really strange behaviour when constructing a Calendar object and then formating it in a particular style. • T-SQL Operations on a Calculated Date Field

  Can I do WHERE operations on a calculated date field? I have a lookup field, which has been written badly in SQL and unfortunately I can't change it. But basically it stores dates as characters such as "July-2010" or "June-2009" (along with other non date data). I want to extract the dates first (which I did using a LIKE opertor) and then extract data based on a date range. I would assume creating a subquery to encapsulate the calculated field would allow me to do operations with it such as WHERE but maybe I'm wrong. Bottom line is it possible to do operations on calculated fields?

• Is there a way to localize input type="date" in HTML5

  I know that at the time of this writing only Opera supports a browser UI for <input type="date" name="mydate"> and maybe my attempts to localize this field have been met with frustration because niceties like localization have not yet been included in their implementation, but I don't even see mention of it in the HTML5 spec. Is there a way that localization should be specified? Should I do lang="fr" on a parent element? Some notes on the implementation of the site in question: Localization (language) is explicitly picked by the user because they are managing data in multiple languages and it is not reasonable to expect that the user's browser chrome is in the language being viewed or that the browser is providing desired language request headers. I want to be sure that if the page is rendered in French that the date picker provided by browser chrome shows options that make sense for French language. The plan is to fall back to jQueryUI for browsers that do not support type="date", I will use the detection mechanism provided in Dive into HTML 5

  Question: When I convert the IP address 192.168.115.67 to a number, is it done like this: 192*256^3 + 168*256^2+115*256^1+67*256^0 = 3232265027 or like this: 192*256^0 + 168*256^1+115*256^2+67*256^3 = 1131653312 I find both variants online, and frankly it doesn't matter as long as reverse it according to the conversion process. But I want to calculate the IP V6 from the IPv4 address, and it seems both variants are on the web... resulting in different IPv6 addresses, and only one can be correct... I use the 1131653312 variant, as 1131653312 is the variant .NET gives me, but 3232265027 is the variant I find on the web for IPv4 to IPv6 conversion...
