  • apt-get update cannot find ubuntu servers

    - by Phrogz
    Running sudo apt-get update fails on my server (that has a 'net connection). Are the servers temporarily broken, or is my apt misconfigured and using old servers? In short, how do I fix this? Here's the output: ~$ uname -a Linux nematode 2.6.28-19-server #66-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 18:41:24 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux ~$ sudo apt-get update Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty Release.gpg Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/restricted Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/multiverse Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates Release.gpg Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates/main Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates/restricted Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates/universe Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-updates/multiverse Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' Err http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security Release.gpg Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' Err http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/main Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' Err http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/restricted Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' Err http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/universe Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' Err http://security.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/multiverse Translation-en_US Could not resolve 'security.ubuntu.com' Reading package lists... • Nginx rewrites incorrectly

    - by Oliver K.
    For some reason www.server-1.com/forum doesn't redirect to forum.server-1.com but www.server-2.com. When I delete the part where it redirects www.server-1.com to www.server-2.com it works like a charm... well, not quite, since the first slash after forum get's somehow lost in the process whenever the URL doesn't end with /forum but, for example, with /forum/index.php. # Redirect www.server-1.com/forum to forum.server-1.com # Redirect www.server-1.com/forum/ to forum.server-1.com # Redirect www.server-1.com/forums to forum.server-1.com # Redirect www.server-1.com/forums/ to forum.server-1.com # Redirect www.server-1.com to www.server-2.com server { listen 80; server_name www.server-1.com; location = /forum { rewrite ^ http://forum.server-1.com redirect; break; } location /forum/ { rewrite ^/forum/(.*) http://forum.server-1.com$1 redirect; break; } location = /forums { rewrite ^ http://forum.server-1.com redirect; break; } location /forums/ { rewrite ^/forums/(.*) http://forum.server-1.com$1 redirect; break; } rewrite ^ http://www.server-2.com redirect; } # Redirect forum.server-1.com to www.server-3.com/forum (where the forum is hosted) server { listen 80; server_name forum.server-1.com; rewrite ^(.*) http://www.server-3.com/forum$1 redirect; } # Redirect forums.server-1.com to forum.server-1.com server { listen 80; server_name forums.server-1.com; rewrite ^(.*) http://forum.server-1.com$1 redirect; } # Redirect server-1.com and *server-1.com to www.server-1.com server { listen 80; server_name server-1.com *.server-1.com; rewrite ^(.*) http://www.server-1.com$1 redirect; } Thanks in advance!

  • Apache Proxy HTTP CONNECT method enabled

    - by John
I'm using Apache as reverse proxy for several different projects. PCI-DSS compliance scanning shows that my Apache is having HTTP CONNECT method enabled. as stated on Acunetix's site - http://www.acunetix.com/vulnerabilities/apache-proxy-http-connect-metho/ As far as I know, CONNECT is used by the web server to tunnel SSL to application server. Any suggestion how should I fix this? Otherwise, anyone know how should I perform the test if my Apache's HTTP CONNECT method is enabled/disabled?

  • Which org.apache.http is android using? And where can i get that as a jar?

    - by Janusz
At the moment I'm trying to build some integration tests for an android project. I would like to use the same apache http classes I use on the android. Which version is this and can I get a jar of that somewhere? Trying to use the jar that comes with android only resolves in Exceptions... But most of the tests won't need running them in the emulator all the time just because I use some apache libraries or do they?

  • What's the simplest way to call Http GET url using Delphi?

    - by Mohammed Nasman
There's a web services I want to call in my application, I can use it with importing the WSDL or by just use "HTTP GET" with the URL and parameters, so I prefer the later because it's simple thing. I know I can use indy idhttp.get, to do the job, but this is very simple thing and I don't want to add complex indy code to my application. UPDATE: sorry if I was not clear, I meant by "not to add complex indy code", that I don't want add indy components for just this simple task, and prefer more lighter way for that.

  • What HTTP error code should I use for unauthorised access to a protected image?

    - by Bala Clark
I am writing a web application that has secure images uploaded by users. These images are only available to the owner when logged in. I am wondering what the best HTTP error code to throw in the case of unauthorised access? Would a 404 not found, or a 403 unauthorised be better? I am leaning towards the 403, but would it be better to hide the fact that the resource exists to unauthorised users be better?

  • What's right for me: htAccess, form submittion, HTTP header authentication w/ PHP?

    - by Brook Julias
I am creating a website with multiple sections--admin, client, user, and anonymous--each user group having less access then the next. I am wondering what form of authentication would be best for my use? I have heard the if you are just dealing with a websites then a web form is for you (because it's prettier). HTTP header authentication with PHP is said to get clunky/sloppy. htAcess is pretty much the hard core of various authentication methods I have looked up, but is it too much?

  • How do I clone over HTTP a repository that has no info/refs?

    - by gbacon
Given a repository served over HTTP whose owner forgot to chmod +x hooks/post-update, is there a workaround for cloning it? I tried running wget --mirror url, but rather than fetching the subtree only, it tried to mirror the entire site—which I assume happened due to the parent-directory links in the autogenerated index.html resources.

  • How do I modify a HTTP response packet with winpcap?

    - by httpinterpret
There are two problems here: What if content is encoded:gzip... Do I also need to change the header part to make the HTTP packet valid(checksums if any?) UPDATE Can someone with actual experience elaborate the steps involved? I'm using winpcap and bpf tcp and src port 80 to filter the traffic,so my job lies in this callback function: void packet_handler(u_char *param, const struct pcap_pkthdr *header, const u_char *pkt_data)

  • What's an appropriate HTTP status code to return by a REST API service for a validation failure?

    - by michaeljoseph
I'm currently returning 401 Unauthorized whenever I encounter a validation failure in my Django/Piston based REST API application. Having had a look at the HTTP Status Code Registry I'm not convinced that this is an appropriate code for a validation failure, what do y'all recommend? 400 Bad Request 401 Unauthorized 403 Forbidden 405 Method Not Allowed 406 Not Acceptable 412 Precondition Failed 417 Expectation Failed 422 Unprocessable Entity 424 Failed Dependency Update: "Validation failure" above means an application level data validation failure ie. incorrectly specified datetime, bogus email address etc.

  • Can I use rest-client to POST a binary file to HTTP without multipart?

    - by Angela
    I have tried to do the following, but the web-service is NOT REST and does not take multi-part. What do I do in order to POST the image? @response = RestClient.post('http://www.postful.com/service/upload', {:upload => { :file => File.new("#{@postalcard.postalimage.path}",'rb') } }, {"Content-Type" => @postalcard.postalimage.content_type, "Content-Length" => @postalcard.postalimage.size, "Authorization" => 'Basic xxxxxx' } # end headers ) #close arguments to Restclient.post

  • How to create a simple c# http monitor/blocker?

    - by Click Ok
I was reading that question (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/226784/how-to-create-a-simple-proxy-in-c) that is near of my wishes. I simply want develop a c# app that, by example, monitors Firefox, IE, etc and logs all navigated pages. Depending of the visited page, I want to block the site (like a parental filter). Code snippets/samples are good, but if you can just tell me some direction of that classes to use I will be grateful. :-)
