I will be storing items in a key-value like relation and I need to access them quickly. Should I use a SQLite database? A Map? A Hashtable? A HashMap? Please give some advantages/disadvantages of using whatever method of searching.

  Is it possible to not clear entire screen when using glClear() function? I need to clear only a part of the screen to save some rendering time, otherwise i would have to redraw half of the screen every frame, even if nothing is happening on the other half.   Is there any functionality in IDL that will allow it to evaluate a a string as code? Or, failing that, is there a nice, dynamic way of including /KEYWORD in functions? For example, if I wanted to ask them for what type of map projection the user wants, is there a way to do it nicely, without large if/case statements for the /Projection_Type keyword it needs? With even a small number of user options, the combinations would cause if/case statements to get out of hand very quickly to handle all the possible options.

  I have two servers - one Django, the other likely to be written in Python - and one is putting 'tasks' into a database and another is processing these tasks. They share a database, but I want the processor to react quickly to new tasks rather than polling periodically.   How can I get "git add -i" to start up in patch mode directly without having to type "5" + Enter? I know about "git add -p", but it's not the same as it doesn't show me a list of files to select from first. • Simple stream read/write question in java

  Hi, I'm trying to upload a file via URLConnection, but i need to read/write it as a binary file without any encoding changes. So i've tried to read byte[] array from FileInputStream, but now i have an issue. The PrintWriter object i use for outputing to the server does not allow me to do writer.write(content) (where content is of type byte[]). How can i fix this? Or is there another way to quickly copy binary data from a FileInputStream to a PrintWriter? Thank you

• Is there any way for a win2k8 scheduled task to have normal priority IO?

  I have a scheduled task that is very IO intensive (deleting hundreds of thousands of files). For disk space reasons, this job has to be performed reasonably quickly. On win2k8, scheduled tasks always have a low IO priority. Raising the priority of the process did not change the IO priority. Is there any way to get a scheduled task to have a normal IO priority?

For each database, the dynamic can be different, and sometimes we don't have data for all the dynamic fields. Rigt now, we check for empties by looking at the total count of records in the entire table, but we want to move to a more refined method of checking for empties if possible. Is it possible to quickly check through several hundred fields and see which ones are empty and which ones are populated?

  I dont see any direct mention on using multiple slugs (or any behavior for that matter) for single model. Is there a way to use the sluggable behavior to generate two separate slugs for a model?
