  JSR 355, JCP Executive Committee Merge, is currently nearing the end of the Public Review period.  Review the current draft here and provide feedback here.  The review closes on 12 June 2012.  The JCP Executive Committee met face to face in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier in May, and has published a revision (version 2.1) of the EC Standing Rules.  The EC Standing Rules were introduced in October 2011 with the launch of JCP version 2.8 (JSR 348).  Version 2.1 of the EC Standing Rules will modify rules for attendance at EC face-to-face meetings. Remote observers will be permitted in "read-only" mode but unless a member attends in person they will be counted as absent.  The review period for these changes will close on June 30 2012.  Please comment on the proposed changes by logging an issue in the JCP EC issue tracker.

• vlc issue with unity

  I'm using ubuntu 12.04 with unity 3d. I am having troubles to lock vlc (version: VLC media player 2.0.1 Twoflower (revision 2.0.1-0-gf432547)) to the left panel. It doesn't behave the same way other applications do. This is a fresh install from the repo, I didn't change any settings. Ubuntu 12.04 is also a fresh install. For example, (left) clicking on it doesn't bring it to front, but creates a new instance (this in particular is very annoying, if it gets behind another window, that happens to be maximized, there is no way to bring it back up). It also doesn't have a right arrow to say the number of instances there is. Any way around that ?

The remaining spots are ordered based on viewing history and popularity. Tapping the play button moves the user to the theatre where they can watch previews or full episodes streaming from Fancast. Co-Marketing with Dynamic Content The success of Comcasts services are tied to the success of the networks and shows it purveys, making co-marketing efforts essential. In this concept FOX is co-marketing its popular show Glee. A customized panorama is updated with the latest gleeks tweets, streaming HD episodes, and extras featuring photos and video of the cast. If WP7 apps can be dynamically extended with web hosted .xap files, including sandboxed partner experiences would enable interactive features such as the Gleek Peek, in which a viewer can select a character from a panorama to view the actors profile. This dynamic inline experience has a tailored appeal to aspiring creatives and is technically possible with Windows Phone 7.   Summary The conceptual Comcast mobile app for Windows Phone 7 highlights just a few of the incredible experiences and business opportunities that can be unlocked with this latest mobile solution. It is critical that organizations recognize and take full advantage of these new capabilities. • Need a really simple client manage script to deliver graphics and revisions, please help?

  I am looking for a very simple client management script. The process flow of the script should be: Client orders (paypal etc) while giving specs on what they need given login details and thanked for their order backend for them consists of a 2 way communication. They ask questions we answer. We also upload the graphics here where they either accept them or as for revision. process complete. Now I cannot for the life of me find something as simple as this. It seems all the scripts out there are way too complicated. Does anyone know of one I can use to do this?

• Steps to rebuild gspca_kinect driver module?

  I recently purchased a Kinect for Windows and quickly discovered that the camera drivers included in linux kernel 3.0+ aren't compatible with the Kinect for Windows hardware revision. After looking at the source code it seems like a tiny modification is all that is required for compatibility, so I've been trying to recompile the driver - to no avail. I've been referring to this article and this one as well, though they are a bit outdated. When I try to compile the module, I get an error because the header file "gspca.h" can't be found in the include path. I located the missing header in my filesystem, but the file itself is empty. I've also tried downloading the kernel source (3.2.0-24-generic), which allowed me to compile the module, but when I load the module I get an error. -1 Unknown symbol in module Is there a standard way to go about this without first building the kernel? Will building the kernel ensure that I can build the module? Thanks

• How to export a C++ class library to C# using a dll?

  In my previous revision game engine I deported major functions for the game editor for C#. Now, I'm beginning to revise the game engine with a static library. There's a already dynamic library created in C++ to use DLLEXPORT for C#. Just now I want to test out the newer functions and created a DLL file from C++. Because the DLL contains classes I was wondering how would I be able to use DLL Export. Would I do this: [DLLEXPORT("GameEngine.dll", EntryPoint="SomeClass", Conventional=_stdcall)] static extern void functionFromClass(); I have a feeling it's probably DLLImport and not DLLExport. I was wondering how would I go about this? Another way I was thinking was because I already have the DLL in C++ prepared already to go the C# Class Library. I could just keep the new engine as a lib, and link the lib with the old DLL C++ file. Wouldn't the EntryPoint be able to point to the class the function is in?

I know the beats are being inserted from multiple bands since I am finding duplicates, and it seems that it's assigning a beat to each instant energy value in between those values.   Are different version naming conventions suited to different projects? What do you use and why? Personally, I prefer a build number in hexadecimal (e.g 11BCF), this should be incremented very regularly. And then for customers a simple 3 digit version number, i.e. 1.1.3. 1.2.3 (11BCF) <- Build number, should correspond with a revision in source control ^ ^ ^ | | | | | +--- Minor bugs, spelling mistakes, etc. | +----- Minor features, major bug fixes, etc. +------- Major version, UX changes, file format changes, etc.

• Is there a version control system that can show changes to a specific method or function?

  Sometimes it would be nice to be able to say something like: (git|svn|hg|etc) diff Foo.c:main (git|svn|hg|etc) log log Foo.c:main to see the changes made to a specific function within a source file since the last commit, or the complete history of changes. My question is two-fold: Does something exist that does this? Would such a tool be practical? It would have to do some simple parsing of the code at each revision in order to compare different versions of the function; would the overhead be too much for it to be efficient?

• sometimes, strange audio distortion(peeping, scratching), ubuntu 12.04

  i have a problem with my sound in ubuntu 12.04. the problem is, that sometimes out of nowhere, when switching songs, or playing youtube videos, changing volume with my keyboard buttons, that the sound gets distorted(peeping, scratching). i dont know if it is related, but when i skip through music in rythmbox, there is also a little scratching noise. i can sometimes temporarly fix it: for youtube videos, i refresh the page, and sometimes it works agian normal, mostly not. for audio playback with rythmbox, i have to pause the song for sometime, and resume it, and hope that it works. before all that,i have changed my soundcard to "Analog Surround 5.1" in the sound settings from ubuntu, but i also used alsamixer to change it from 2 channels to 6 channels, since changing in ubuntu sound settings alone wasnt enough to make the other speaks work. i use a ASUS P8-H61-M LE B3 Revision Motherboard. which has a built in surround soundcard.

• How to backup a dev & QA folder website structure?

  A site I just became in charge of uses a really simple two folder structure to host the dev site and the QA site. The sites are hosted on the company servers so I just have the sites' folders mapped on my desktop. I would like to run some kind of backup scheme, but I am finding it hard to think of a way to do this effectively. The problem is that we aren't using any revision control software, and since the servers aren't controlled by me, I don't think I will be able to implement anything like that. Or could I? The entire site is static too, so no DB's or anything besides html, images, PDFs, etc.

• IE Display Bug, jQuery bug

  So I built some complex ajaxy jquery module on my homepage, with the help of "scrollable" from flowplayer.org. It works fine for me on Chrome, Opera, Firefox ... but of course IE is not playing friendly (regardless of the version, from my testing). Objects are not displaying exactly where they should, some are overlaying each other, and when a click a button some divs just disappear. However, if I resize the IE browser window up and down, the display mostly fixes itself. Then if I click on one of the buttons I made, it messes it up again. Until I resize the window again and it looks fine. • Scaling gwt's "Contacts" (sample project) AppController with MVP

  I'm just learning GWT so I'm still trying to sort out all of its quirks and features. I'm reading through the example they give illustrating the MVP pattern, and I pretty much get it, except I'm wondering about one thing. The AppController they use implements the ValueChangeHandler interface and the onValueChange method is triggered when history changes. My problem is with this onValueChange in the AppController (i've included it below for anyone who hasn't seen the sample project). It's doing a string comparison on the history token sent in and instantiating the appropriate presenter to handle the action. This is all fine and dandy for the sample app with 3 actions, but how would one scale this to a real app with many more actions? Sticking to this pattern would lead to a pretty large/ugly else if, but I'm still too new to GWT (and java) to infer a better pattern for larger apps. • Excel export displaying '#####...'

  I'm trying to export an Excel database into .txt (Tab Delimited), but some of my cells are quite large. When I export into a txt some of the cells are exported as '#######....' which is surprisingly useless. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know an easy fix? • Table design issues - should I create separate fields or store as a blob

  Hi guys I'm working on my web based ordering system and we would like to maintain a kind of task history for each of our orders. A hsitory in the sense that we would like to maintain a log of who did what on an order like lets say an order has been entered - we would like to know if the order was acknowledged for an example. Or lets say somebody followed up on the order - etc. Consider that there are numerous situations like this for each order would it be wise to create a schema on the lines of: Orders ID - title - description - date - is_ack - is_follow - ack_by ..... That accounts to a lot of fields - on teh other hand I could have one LongText field called 'history' and fill it with a serialised object holding all the information. However in the latter case I can't run a query to lets say retrieve all orders that have not been acknowledged and stuff like that. With time requirements woudl change and I would be required to modify it to allow for more detailed tracking and that is why I need to set up a way which would be feasible to scale upon yet I don't want to be restricted on the SQL side too much.

The first thing to note is that a user can record multiple playings of the same scenario (scenid) on the same date (playdate) possibly with the same outcome (side = winner). Hence the need for the unique ID and timestamps for good measure. I appear to have painted myself into a corner. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get some unique identifying data (ID and/or timestamp) to ride along on this form without showing it to the user? PHP-only please, I must be NoScript compliant!

• How to detect back button or forward button navigation in a silverlight navigation application

  When a Page is navigated to in silverlight you can override this method. protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e) { base.OnNavigatedTo(e); } The NavigationEventArgs has a NavigationMode enumeration which is defined as public enum NavigationMode { New = 0, Back = 1, Forward = 2, Refresh = 3, } But calling e.NavigationMode always throws a NotImplementedException Is there a way in silverlight to detect a page is being navigated to because the user hit the forward/back browser button. What I am trying to achieve is some kind of state that can be preserved when the user hits the back button. For example assume you have a customer page which is showing a list of customers in a datagrid. The user can select a customer and there is a detail view which shows all the orders for that customer. Now within an order item you can click a hyperlink link that takes you to the shipping history of the order which is a separate page. When the user hits the back button I want to go back to the customers page and automatically select the customer he was viewing. Is this possible at all ? I also tried out the fragment navigation feature NavigationService.Navigate(new Uri("#currentcustomerid=" + customer.Id.ToString(), UriKind.Relative)); when the customer selection changes but this adds too many items to the history when the user clicks various customers on the customer page. EDIT There is also an method you can override protected override void OnNavigatingFrom(NavigatingCancelEventArgs e) { } which is the same as handling the NavigationService.Navigating event as indicated by BugFinder's answer. In this method e.NavigationMode always returns New when when you hit the Back or Forward Button. The only time this method returns Back is when you explicitly call NavigationService.GoBack()

• Random Pairings that don't Repeat

  This little project / problem came out of left field for me. Hoping someone can help me here. I have some rough ideas but I am sure (or at least I hope) a simple, fairly efficient solution exists. Thanks in advance.... pseudo code is fine. I generally work in .NET / C# if that sheds any light on your solution. Given: A pool of n individuals that will be meeting on a regular basis. I need to form pairs that have not previously meet. The pool of individuals will slowly change over time. For the purposes of pairing, (A & B) and (B & A) constitute the same pair. The history of previous pairings is maintained. For the purpose of the problem, assume an even number of individuals. For each meeting (collection of pairs) and individual will only pair up once. Is there an algorithm that will allow us to form these pairs? Ideally something better than just ordering the pairs in a random order, generating pairings and then checking against the history of previous pairings. In general, randomness within the pairing is ok.
