    It seems like the steps right now are: Shoot movie sync iPhone with Mac via iTunes Open iPhoto Import photos from iPhone into iPhoto Open iMovie (or retart if it was already running) On startup, iMovie detects videos in iPhoto and imports them. Yikes. Is there an easier way? It's a bit odd that the videos are handled as photos, in the first place. And no, I'm not jailbreaking my iPhone simply to save me a few of these steps.

  • iCal and Windows 7: Do they work together?

    I'm about to buy an iTouch, mainly because of the iCal. I'm a Windows user, so does anyone know if these two play well together? I'd prefer to be able to update my calendar from either the computer or iTouch and sync. I've searched Google, but I'm sceptic so far.   • Media Encoder w\ Merge Files & SandyBridge Hardware Encoding Support

    So i have a Z68 chipset that allows Quick Sync encoding on my i7 processor. I want a media encoder that supports both Hardware encoding and allows me to "merge files". My problem is Fraps breaks my recording into 4GB files. I need to stitch these files together & re-encode for Youtube ect, but i want to use the hardware encoding I paid for. I have not figured out how to do this on Handbrake or MediaEsspresso.

  • How do I remove the Never-Ending Dropbox Folder?

    I don't know if this is an error with eclipse or dropbox, but I seem to be unable to delete a file folder within my dropbox folder. Somehow, there was a creation of over 8300 file folders, all duplicates of the previous folder. I tried deleting from both command line, and explorer but get the same error: I've also deleted the share from the dropbox website, and it deleted correctly from there, but during the sync from the client (my pc) to the site there is an error: Any ideas of what to do?

  • Linux software Raid 10 no superblock

    I have a software raid 10 with 6 x 2tb hard drives (raid 1 for /boot), ubuntu 10.04 is the os. I had a raid controller failure that put 2 drives out of sync, crashed the system and initially the os didnt boot up and went into initramfs instead, saying that drives were busy but I eventually managed to bring the raid up by stopping and assembling the drives. The os booted up and said that there were filesystem errors, I chose to ignore because it would remount the fs in read-only mode if there was a problem. Everything seemed to be working fine and the 2 drives started to rebuild, I was sure that it was a sata controller failure because I had dma errors in my log files. The os crashed soon after that with ext errors. Now its not bringing up the raid, it says that there is no superblock on /dev/sda2. I tried to reassemble manually with all the device names but it still would not bring up the raid 10 complaining about the missing superblock on sda2, and sda1 was also dropped from the raid 1. When I did examine on the raid10 it says that 1 of the initially failed drives is a spare, the other is spare rebuilding and sda2 is removed. It seems that sda decided to fail right when the system was vulnerable to it because when I boot up a live cd it spews out sda unrecoverable read failures. I have been trying to fix this all week but I'm not sure where to go with this now, I ordered more hard drives because I didn't have a complete backup, but its too late for that now and the only thing I could do is mirror all the hard drives onto the new ones (I'm not sure whether sda was mirrored without errors). On the internet I read that you can recover from this by recreating the array with the same options as when it was made, however because sda is failing I cant use it and I don't want to risk using its mirror instead, so I'm waiting to get another hard drive. I'm also not sure whether to include the out of sync drives or if I can actually use those instead to recover the array. Sorry if this is a mess to read but I've been trying to fix this all day and its late at night now, any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I also did a memtest and changed the motherboard in addition to everything else.   • recommendations for efficient offsite remote backup solution of vm's

    I am looking for recommendations for backing up my current 6 vm's(and soon to grow to up to 20). Currently I am running a two node proxmox cluster(which is a debian base using kvm for virtualization with a custom web front end to administer). I have two nearly identical boxes with amd phenom II x4's and asus motherboards. Each has 4 500 GB sata2 hdd's, 1 for the os and other data for the proxmox install, and 3 using mdadm+drbd+lvm to share the 1.5 TB's of storage between the two machines. I mount lvm images to kvm for all of the virtual machines. I currently have the ability to do live transfer from one machine to the other, typically within seconds(it takes about 2 minutes on the largest vm running win2008 with m$ sql server). I am using proxmox's built-in vzdump utility to take snapshots of the vm's and store those on an external harddrive on the network. I then have jungledisk service (using rackspace) to sync the vzdump folder for remote offsite backup. This is all fine and dandy, but it's not very scalable. For one, the backups themselves can take up to a few hours every night. With jungledisk's block level incremental transfers, the sync only transfers a small portion of the data offsite, but that still takes at least a half an hour. The much better solution would of course be something that allows me to instantly take the difference of two time points (say what was written from 6am to 7am), zip it, then send that difference file to the backup server which would instantly transfer to the remote storage on rackspace. I have looked a little into zfs and it's ability to do send/receive. That coupled with a pipe of the data in bzip or something would seem perfect. However, it seems that implementing a nexenta server with zfs would essentially require at least one or two more dedicated storage servers to serve iSCSI block volumes (via zvol's???) to the proxmox servers. I would prefer to keep the setup as minimal as possible (i.e. NOT having separate storage servers) if at all possible. I have also briefly read about zumastor. It looks like it could also do what I want, but it appears to have halted development in 2008. So, zfs, zumastor or other?

  • Live Mesh deleted my folder! Is there anyway to recover it?

    I'm using Live Mesh to sync files. I have two machines, one has my work and the second was offline. When I booted the second Live Mesh deleted all the content of a folder from my live desktop. I can see the entry in the news section of my live desktop (delete 74 folders...). Anyone know if there's a way to undeleted or recover these files? Thanks!

  • How do you move the subscription folder to a different folder than the default Music Folder?

    I'm using Skydrive to store the music I purchase from Zune in the cloud so that I can share the songs with my wife's computer. However, I don't want to sync all the subscription music which is music I haven't purchased. Zune puts all the subscription music into the default music folder in a separate folder called Subscription. Is there a way to have just this folder somewhere else? I know you can't currently exclude folders in Skydrive, otherwise I would just take this route.

    hi, what information should i know to do the following: we will have 2 servers, each one will have a cPanel WHM installed and 2 will have DNS, we want to insure that redundancy is achieved on both servers, means the servers should work as active/standby unit. 2 cPanel active/standby 2 DNS active/standby also does this have any impact on the mySQL database, do we have to buy another server to use it as the mySQL database or it's possible to sync all the cPanel information from one server to another. thank you.

  • Executing git post-receive hook on windows server

    I trying to execute a post-receive hook on a windows server git(msysgit) installation - to sync the repo to codebasehq. The script does nothing more than just wget "url" but it doesn't seem to be executing. I've renamed the "post-receive.sample" to "post-receive" and installed wget to windows path which works fine via the command prompt. Is there something I'm not doing here? I would appreciate any insights on how to get this working. Thanks.

  • What is the fastest method to restore MySQL replication?

    I have a MySQL (5.1) master-slave replication pair and replication to the slave has failed. It failed because the master ran out of disk space and the relay-logs became corrupt. The master is now back online and working properly. Since there is this error in the log the slave process can't simply be restarted. The server has a single 40GB InnoDB database and I would like to know what is the fastest method for getting the slave back in sync to minimize downtime.

  • How to recover data from a partially overwritten partition

    By mistake, I configured a 900GB partition to be part of a 50GB raid. The sync is complete and my understanding is that only the first 50GB of the bigger partition is overwritten. How do I recover the rest of the data? When I try to mount this partition by identifying it as ext3, it mounts only the 50GB overwritten space. This partition was earlier divided into various logical volumes(all ext3 filesystems) through LVM. Any suggestions?

  • Linux software RAID6: 3 drives offline - how to force online?

    This is similar to 3 drives fell out of Raid6 mdadm - rebuilding? except that it is not due to a failing cable. Instead the 3rd drive fell offline during rebuild of another drive. The drive failed with: kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 293732432 kernel: md/raid:md0: read error not correctable (sector 293734224 on sdc). After rebooting both these sectors and the sectors around them are fine. This leads me to believe the error is intermittent and thus the device simply took too long to error correct the sector and remap it. I expect that no data was written to the RAID after it failed. Therefore I hope that if I can kick the last failing device online that the RAID is fine and that the xfs_filesystem is OK, maybe with a few missing recent files. Taking a backup of the disks in the RAID takes 24 hours, so I would prefer that the solution works the first time.     I am trying to sync my (Mac) desktop, with an iPad and an iPhone. OSX mounts WebDAV as a native filesystem, but syncing results in all files in my directory structure being copied again. This occurs when I use rsync -a or even a simple rsync -r. Various iPhone OS apps use the WebDAV server in iPhone OSX to transfer files. This occurs on several apps I use including GoodReader.

  • ffdshow h.264 audio desync

    When I encode video with ffdshow with h.264, the audio is out of sync. At the very beginning of the video, the picture freezes for about 1 second, while the audio plays fine, resulting in the audio being that 1 second ahead of the picture throughout the entire video. Any ideas on possible causes or, obviously, solutions?

  • Uploading User Made Videos to iPhone (from Vista)

    Once a user downloads a video created with the iPhone 3GS and then deletes it from the iPhone, that video cannot be uploaded back to the iPhone...according to Apple. The videos are not treated as Photos and are not allowed to sync to and from the iPhone freely. Has anyone discovered a program or tweek that allows one to upload video to the iPhone? Thanks.
