• What is the best VM for developing WPF apps from within OS X?

  All of my machines are Macs (Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Mini (and Apple TV 2.0 too! :) ) but for my day-job, I develop .NET/WPF applications. Normally I just boot into Boot Camp and develop that way, which of course works great, but there are times when I need to simultaneously get to things on my Mac-side of the equation, so I've bought both VMware 3.1 and Parallels 6. Both work, however, even on my Mac Pro where I paid to upgrade to the better video cards (the NVidia 8600s I think vs. the stock ATI cards) the WPF performance bites!! Now this confuses me since both boast that they support not only hardware-accelerated OpenGL 2.1, but also hardware-accelerated DirectX 9 (VMware even allegedly supports DirectX 10!) via their respective virtual drivers and both can run 3D games just fine, even in a window. But even the simple act of resizing a WPF window that has a tiled background results in some HIDEOUS repainting and resizing behaviors. It's damn near closer to what you'd expect over RDP let alone a software-only renderer (forget accelerated hardware completely!) So... can anyone please tell me WTF WPF is doing differently? More importantly, how can I speed up the WPF performance? Should I switch to VirtualBox that also has support for DirectX? Or am I just gonna have to 'byte' the bullet (sorry... had to. So I like puns! Thank Jon Stewart!) and continue using Boot Camp?

• Can I disable this Windows (XP) Security Warning?

  I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP (I know I'll have to take the plunge and commit to Win8 "real soon, now", but I'm just not quite ready for the upheaval yet! :) I used to use WinRar (and later, when I got fed up with the "nag" messages, 7-Zip), but I haven't installed either of them in my new configuration, so I must be using the built-in XP facility when I open *.zip files. For years, I've been opening downloaded *.zip archives, and using "drag & drop" to copy to a File Explorer window open on the folder where I want the files to end up (usually, My Documents\Downloads). But now I find that when I "drop" the file(s), I get a pop-up Windows Security Warning saying Are you sure you want to copy or move files to this folder? You should only move or copy files from locations that you trust Can anyone explain why I'm getting this message, and is there any (reasonably easy, please! :) way to suppress it? Since I've already put the *.zip file on my computer, it seems a bit late to ask if I trust it. (Thus far, the files in question have always been plain text, so it's not a matter of dodgy programs, etc.) Apologies for the low quality image - I don't have the appropriate tools or knowledge to do any better, and it doesn't help that my "PrtScr" screen capture has included what would have been on my second monitor (TV) if it had been turned on. • How to Eliminate Black Bars from Powerpoint videos ?

  Hi, I am running a digital signage system for my client. The basic installation is a vertically oriented 42" LCD TV with a 1920x1080 screen resolution (reverse of 1920x1080 when setup normally, i.e. landscaped). Please check out the following link for a basic screen divisions layout I want to setup. http://flickr.com/photos/55097319@N03/5410208856 In the division labeled "ppt" I plan to run a powerpoint presentation. The screen division is 360x1476 resolution. As there isn't an option in powerpoint to specify slide size in terms of resolution so according to this article on indezine http://indezine.com/products/powerpoint/books/perfectmedicalpres02.html to get a screen resolution of my preference I divided 360 and 1476 each by 72 which gives me 5"x 20.5" as the slide size for my ppt. After setting up slide size as per above dimensions, I used sizer (http://brianapps.net) to resize my ppt window to 360x1476 so that when I record I do not get any black bars. • Software way to cool down an old MacBook Pro

  Hi all, First a little background: I've got lots of computers, including Linux PCs and two MacBook Pro (and a MacMini). My concern is with my 'old' MacBookPro (Core Duo). It really does overheat. Warranty is long void. Years ago (I'd say 2.5 years ago or so) one day it overheated so bad that the battery inflated due to the heat. I got a new battery for free but it's still getting incredibly hot (much other than any other computer I've got: my newer Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro doesn't get nearly as hot as the old one. It s really a pain because I use my old MBP when I m in front of TV, having it on my lap, and it can really become unbearable. I don't want to open that old MBP. On Linux I can force a new CPU 'governor' that decides how the CPU is allowed to operate: it can be 'on demand', 'always max speed', 'always speed x', etc. Does the same exist under MacOS X? Is there a way, say if a 1.86 Ghz Core Duo can run at 1.6 Ghz, to ask MacOS X: "never run this CPU above 1.6 Ghz" ?

• Stop the constant random reboots of my GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3V

  I've got some issues with a new system. It's rebooting constantly. The system consists of a: brand new: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3V with F9 BIOS (latest) Intel Core i5-3470 Ivy Bridge 2x 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 1600MHz memory (mem-tested x-86) coming from a stable system: Creative Soundcard X-FI Titanium Asus Radeon HD4850 OCZ Vertex 3 120G SSD Sata 3 Hard disk 1TB Sata 2 ASUS Blu-ray Drive PSU 400w Connected peripherals : Toshiba tv (displayport on dvi of MB or HD4850) Wired mouse, wireless keyboard (logitech) Bluetooth usb key Azio main problem : it's not possible to read the errors from the MB. nothing on the manual neither on internet. At the beginning, I received a MB with graphic problems and the problem of rebooting. I RMA'd it. The new one doesn't have any graphic problems. but it's still constantly rebooting. I removed everything except the HD, the sound-card, the blu-ray drive and the wireless keyboard. It's still unexpectdly rebooting. I'm running a test with just the motherboard and the HD. I will update this text after the test. I've got some questions : Somebody have an idea of a test? The PSU could cause that problem? I used it a lot of years with the stable system. Update 1: BTW, if anyone has the same problem, the manual won't say it but you'll need to reset the bios between two tests (the screwdriver on the two pins) if you suspect a problem of compatibility .

• "Safe" personal router use on apartment-wide network

  I recently moved into an apartment with internet included in my rent. This was a boon at first, but now I'm feeling limited. To get devices connected (wired or wireless), I have to whitelist the MAC addresses on mycampusnet.com. This is annoying (considering I'm well over the 10 device limit including my roommate's stuff), but what's really driving me mad is that I don't seem to have any semblance of a "local" network. I've relied heavily on static IPs and port forwarding in the past (accessing NAS and remote desktop) and (as far as I can understand), that functionality is nonexistent without my router set up. Also, as my wired and wireless devices don't always seem to make it onto the same subnet, I'm unable to use any of my iDevices with my Apple TV (I can, however, mirror to no less than four strangers' Apple TVs at any moment, which is a whole other level of discomforting). I've talked to the head of the apartment complex and she told me that they personally don't have any issue with my using a router, but the provider (CampusConnect) does not currently allow it. Apparently, enough people have put in complaints/requests about the restriction (the apartments are for graduate students and University staff, many of which need to set up things like VPNs for work reasons) to open up some sort of ticket to get the functionality in place, but all the calls I've made to get status updates have been a waste of time. My question is: If I plugged my router into the apartment network, what would happen? I've been told already that personal routers would "interfere with the wireless" and that they would shut my port down if I used one, but is that a legitimate thing or just something made up that sounds real to keep the average Joe from pushing it further? I'm guessing there's some way of configuring my router to keep it from disrupting the rest of the network, but it's not something they want to tell me for obvious reasons. Am I right? And if so, what are the chances that they'd notice the difference in traffic or whatever and shut off my port?

• How can I get Windows 7 to work with two Nvidia graphics cards with different drivers?

  This is similar to this question, but I am using more similar cards with Windows 7. I just purchased a Zotac Nvidia GeForce 7200 GS. I have a motherboard with two PCI Express x16 slots. There is already an MSI Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS being used as the primary card, driving two LCD monitors. I would like the Zotac to output to a TV via DVI-out. Unfortunately, when Windows detects the Zotac and installs its drivers, or I manually install them, Windows stops being able to boot up. If I remove them and re-install the MSI 8800 drivers, I can boot again, but Windows can no longer see the Zotac 7200--it shows up as a yellow triangle in Device Manager. I've read conflicting reports about this. Some people claim that Windows 7 will support multiple heterogeneous graphics card drivers, as long as they are all using the same driver API ("WDDM?"). Others say that they have to be using the exact same driver, or it won't work. Others claim that you have to use the exact same card. which is it, exactly? I know I can run the MSI 8800 in SLI if I purchase another, but I don't need that kind of power--I just need HD-out to my television. I read somewhere that running two cards in SLI precludes you from using 100% of their output ports, so I'm not sure if that's an option. I suppose I could also run two MSI 8800's without SLI, but again, that's more power than I need (and more money than I'd like to spend). Also, I don't think this exact model is even manufactured anymore. Any ideas?

• Winamp playing sound but no video

  I am having problems playing video in Winamp (the movie I am trying to play is an AVI - not sure if other formats work). I have installed the K-Lite Codec Pack, and the video does work in Winamp Classic. I can also play the video in Winamp on another machine (although I can't remember the exact configuration details of that machine - and I don't think they're relevant). There are a few symptoms: The content of the Video view is either empty, transparent, or displays rendering from other programs. Opening the Visualization view shows the following error: MILKDROP ERROR DirectX initialization failed (GetDeviceCaps). This means that no valid 3D-accelerated display adapter could be found on your computer. If you know this is not the case, it is possible that your graphics subsystem is unstable; please try rebooting your computer and then try to run the plugin again. Otherwise, please install a 3D-accelerated display adapter. Trying to open streams via the SHOUTCast TV plugin shows Error opening video output, and the video does not open. Opening the file with WMC causes the following error (although the movie still plays): Error creating DX9 allocation presenter CreateDevice failed D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE There are no warnings displayed in Device Manager, although the display adapter is the standard Windows one. Running DxDiag shows no problems (codec for Video listed as XviD 1.1.2 Final). GSpot reports that codecs are installed. System specs: - Windows Server 2008 r2 Standard 64-bit, with latest updates; - .NET 3.5.1 installed; - Winamp v5.6.01 (latest version); - DirectX 11 (Latest version); - K-Lite Codec Pack 7.0.0 (Full); - Machine is HP DC7600 - full specs here. Please comment if there is any more information which will help to diagnose the problem.

• Is there a good alternative to Videora iPod Converter?

  I use Videora to convert my videos (in DivX/XviD format) to something I can play on my iPod Classic. I really dislike it. It's clunky, riddled with adverts, sometimes doesn't convert properly (the infamous "invalid public atom" error - see Google for more) and has a UI that truly stinks. On the upside, it's free, accepts a list of video files (via the oddly hard to find "1-click convert" button) and just gets on with the converting as it already knows the correct settings for my iPod. One final nice touch is that once they are converted, it'll automatically upload them into iTunes. Are there any alternatives which have all the upsides but none of the downsides? Bonus points if they can set the metadata in iTunes correctly for TV shows (season, show, episode) and delete the converted file afterwards (as my iTunes settings means that a copy is made elsewhere). I've looked at a bunch of applications (handbrake, virtualdub, mediacoder, format factory, any video converter, convertxtodvd) but many of them fail the "just select a list of files and get on with converting" test - let alone all the other features I want. I have no desire to individually set the video size of each file or the codec or the post-processing options. I'm currently using the command line version of HandBrake (handbrakecli) and a hand-written DOS batch file to go through every file in a folder and convert it. It does most of what I want, just not in a very slick way. Can anyone recommend anything better? It needs to work on Windows 7 and be free.

• Autologin 2 Windows users OR Login another user from the desktop

  I'm using two windows users on my HTPC at the same time. One is just for watching videos and one for administration via remote. This setup is quite ideal for me since windows can handle multiple concurrent logins and the win "rdp concurrent hack" (Google). The problem is, I want both users to be logged in automatically when the pc was started. It shall be possible to watch tv and also the admin user shall be automatically logged in to start my scripts and other tasks, even if I haven't logged in via remote desktop manually. Later, when I want to admin my htpc I can just rdp connect the admin user without interrupting the video playback on the actual HTPC's screen and check my cleanup tasks, downloads, ... witch already executed for this admin user. But right now I found no solution to automatically login user A from a user B desktop and I also found no solution to autologin both users immediately at startup. As a workaround I have to fire up my other notebook machine and login one time with the remote user via rdp. From this time on the remote admin user is running concurrent with the main user in the background of the machine. The other workaround would be... after startup switch user from main user to admin user and then back again. But that also requires manual steps. I'm on a Windows 8 System right now but all infos for Win7 or XP would be also interesting. thanks a lot for all ideas. PS: just to prevent useless posts... don't tell me that only one user can be logged in to windows. ;)

• Remotely viewing IP camera on Belkin N450 DB router

  I need to setup a wireless IP camera (Trendnet TV-IP501W) on my network so that it is remotely visible from anywhere. Right now I successfully connected it to my home network but nothing else. My router is a Belkin N450 DB. Any help would be much appreciated, including what this would be referred to as so I could more easily ask another forum. I believe it is something like "port forwarding" but I'm not sure. Ok, I believe I found this in the "virtual servers" section. It asks for enabling with a check box, description, inbound port, type, private IP, & private port. In that order I have checked enabling, "camera", 150, TCP, 81, and 81? I'm assuming inbound ports are the numbers I use for the home network - xxx.xxx.x.150 and the 81 was for private. I used my WAN IP and added :81 and .81 but didn't get it. What am I doing wrong? • How to connect 2 routers (Asmax and D-link)

  I just bought a new router, D-link DSL 2641B and want to connect it to another one, provided by my ISP, Asmax AR 804MP. Previously, I had Linksys WRT350N, and there was no problem, while I had Ethernet cable plugged in to one of LAN ports in Asmax and INTERNET(RJ45) port in Linksys, connection used PPPoE protocol -- worked OK. D-link has DSL(RJ11) port (which I don't want to use as Asmax replacement, while there is a separate Ethernet cable with a TV plugged to Asmax, which I don't want to configure from scratch on D-link). How should I connect my new D-link to work with Asmax? Via DSL port? Via one of the LAN ports (in which case I probably should change the purpose of this port in the config, I guess?). I tried connecting D-link both ways: LAN(ASMAX) to LAN(DLINK) LAN(ASMAX) to DSL(DLINK) (using RJ11 - RJ45 cable) I hope there is some setting in the DLINK's config that I overlooked. I haven't tried to see what's in ASMAX's config, but I guess I don't need to change anything there, while Linksys worked just fine? The only difference I see, is that D-link has RJ11 DSL port as WAN, and Linksys has RJ45 (called by them INTERNET) as a main WAN port.

• Not getting IP from ISP on Multicast Network

  Im having an odd issue with my ISP (COMX.dk) I have a managed access gateway box (Telsay) with three 8P8C ports for use with Internet and Ip-Tv (respectively on different VLANS (so does my ISP tell me)) To utilize a port you will need to register your device's mac address through an online interface. You will then get your device paired with a static ip. I am using one port actively and I have registered another device (router). The router is configured to listen for an active dhcpd on the network. When my router get a lease I get a private ip 192.168.2.2 (not the one bound to my mac) which is odd! I unconnected my router from the gateway and connected my laptop directly. Same thing happened - I was given a private address. I did a port scan on the gateway and found port 80 to be open and browsed to the ip. I was then presented with a management interface of a Belkin wireless router (HMMM!!!!) <--by the way, not my gear At this point I called the ISP to let them know of my issue/findings - Only to be replied "Well, we cant see any rogue dhcp servers" (thinking to myself, well I can) I then decided that it could be fun to try the other port of my gateway, only to experience the same. So I reconnected my router and used the remaining port to make an observer(wireshark promic etc.) I am able to see my router trying to discover a dhcp server but I can also see my ISP's IGMP and PIMv2 packages just repeating the same pattern. Hello...Hello...Hello :) So I called them again, only to get the same response, "we dont see any rogue dhcp's...we cant see the host you are talking to (mac address of the Belkin router)...you are definitively connected through wireless?!?(no im not, no such thing as a wireless wire - i thought to myself)" My questions is, What is going on? (besides from what im reporting here) What am I seeing that the don't? What can I tell them in order for them to resolve mine/their issue?

• Laptop Overheating with Windows 8

  I recently installed Windows 8 on my HP G62 Laptop and i have been noticing a very strange problem with it. Let alone, for lets say 5 minutes, without even touching it, it starts to heat up and it reaches about 60 degrees (Celsius) with absolutely no applications open (not just on desktop but overall). I dug in a little deep and found out that Maintenance was running when the computer was Idle, so i turned that off From the System's Task Scheduler, and while there i also turned off other services i did not need hoping that would solve the problem. So after a few days, i noticed that the average temperature of my laptop dropped from 55 to 48 degrees while working on Visual Studio. And when i thought the problem had disappeared, it still did show up, only not after 5 minutes, but more like 10 minutes... Here is what i have done so far: Replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and the fan and cleaning the fan (this was like 6 months ago) Using a laptop cooler Running a virus scan (i just formatted my laptop so it would be really weird if i already caught something but who knows) Right now, i believe it has something to do with my gfx driver (Even though it IS up to date, looking closely at the screen, i can see the pixels slowly refresh (kinda like watching static on TV) which i wasn't able to do on Windows 7. • How can I inject clips [ads] in a playlist every x minutes (even if previous clip is not over)

  Sorry for the title, I find it quite hard to describe what I want to do in a single sentence We have a few TV here linked to our computer, which we use to display clips about what we do in our sport center, what you should do to stay in good form ect ... It's running non stop, actually though vlc + playlist. Those main clips are 1-2 hours long and we have about 20 of them looping randomly all day. We would like to inject ads for some of our sponsiored products every now and then during the playlist, like say one ad every 15 minute. Does any one know how we can do that, while keeping the main clip random order ? I thought about encoding the whole thing as a single movie with ads inserted, but then it's not random. So we can put the ads in the playlist itself right ? Except clips are several hours long and we want that more often than that. Cutting the main clips in several pieces seems to work but that kind of sucks as new clips are made every month. If any one has an idea, thanks a lot

• PC won't boot from IDE HDD when SATA data drive connected

  I have an old Pentium 4 system running XP. The machine is set up as an HTPC. It was set up and running well with 1 SATA drive as a boot drive, another SATA drive to store TV recordings, and an IDE drive to store more recordings. Last week the original boot drive (a SATA drive) failed. The BIOS would no longer recognize it. I had a disused IDE drive hanging around that was large enough for the OS, so I reformatted it and installed XP on it. Now the system will only boot if I do not connect the remaining healthy SATA data drive. All three drives are recognized by the BIOS, and I have set the boot order so that the IDE drive with XP on it has top priority, but after the BIOS recognizes the drives, etc. I just get a black screen. I know the SATA drive is functional, because if I hot plug the drive AFTER the system is booted (I know I'm not supposed to do this), I can go into the control panels and mount the drive, and see all the files and folders on it in Windows Explorer. Any suggestions on what is going on and how to fix it? Many thanks.

• What differences are there between "home" switches and "professional" switches?

  Our radio station uses a PtP wireless system to stream our radio and TV signals from our studio up a hill to our transmitter. We have been having problems with warbly sound and drop outs that come from some point in this system. An engineer that occasionally visits the station thinks it could be the switches we use on each side of the PtP wireless system to connect the PtP devices to the encoders and decoders and wants us to get two of these switches: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-JGS516-ProSafe-16-Port-Ethernet/dp/B0002CWPOK/ref=dp_return_1 The encoder/decoder setup only streams 8Mbps total so it seems like the switches we have should not be stressed out, unless they are causing sufficient latency to degrade the performance of the encoder/decoder. We currently have cable internet, and they just bumped the speeds: There is a data center that was just recently built in our building, and we were considering co-lo'ing there in the near future. As a result, they offered us access to their triple-redundant internet, but it's quite expensive. They are offering 3mbps committed with up to 10mbps burst for $250/month (discounted). We pay ~$120 for our cable (which the plan was to keep--at least for TV). I want the phone system and LAN to be as separate as possible. Was thinking about keeping the cable for LAN, and using the other connection for the phones (until I saw the price). Now I'm thinking it might make sense to add on to our existing cable setup, and change our phone to only have DSL as a backup for the cable. Is there any real benefit to the fiber? Especially for the price? Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

  Over the years I've carefully molded my digital media collection into a series of folders that make it easy for me to find what I'm looking for. I recently discovered the awesomeness that is streaming video from Windows 7 Media Player to the PS3 so I can watch it on the big screen without all the hassle of hooking the computer up to the TV. The problem is, I totally lose my carefully crafted folder structure and all my videos become one giant mess again... not cool! As a temporary solution, I've created a few playlists for my favorites (Dexter Season 4, Dexter Season 5, Breaking Bad Season 1, etc.). This is a HUGE pain in the a$$. So, is there a way to get Windows Media Player (on Windows 7) to maintain some sort of folder structure based on the location of the actual video files? So if I have my videos sorted into folders by show and season, Media Player will pick that up and let me browse it in the same way. As an alternative answer, I'll accept suggestions for a program that can also stream to PS3 and has this "folder organization" feature.

• How to prevent an SSD from disappearing from BIOS

  I've only recently upgraded my old machine to a new one with a brand new 60gb SSD as my boot drive and a 1TB main drive. Paranoid about completely breaking my SSD, I read up on a lot of issues that I needed to watch out for, including making sure AHCI was turned on and trim enabled. PC has been working fine for a few weeks now, until today. My wife was watching some TV on the machine when it started to act strange and eventually blue screened. She rebooted and the boot mgr was missing. When I got home from work I checked the BIOS and the drive had disappeared. I panicked and looked up some possible fixes, and I discovered a large amount of people having problems with the drive firmware, especially on OCZ Vertex and Agility drives, and my drive is an Agility 3 drive. The problems included blue screens followed by missing drives, and a solution was to reset the CMOS and try again. This worked, and now everything seems to be working fine. My question is, is there any way to prevent this from happening? Am I missing a setting for my SSD? All of the posts I found were from early to mid-2011 nothing for the end of 2011 to 2012. So I am wondering if I've missed anything. EDIT: Checked my drives firmware and it is 2.15, which has had issues reported by users.

• How to change the MAC address in Win 8 to spoof a Roku Player through a WiFi splash page?

  My Linux laptop died yesterday and now I can't watch TV. Let me explain. I use a Roku Player to stream Netflix shows to my television; and a year or two ago, the Internet Service provided in my apartment complex added a Splash Page to get through the router and onto the net. After not too many days, I remembered that internet devices identify themselves with a MAC address. So I delved into the manpage of ifconfig and discovered that I could persuade my laptop to pretend to be the Roku Player, connect, click through the Splash Page, disconnect and change it back. This would allow the Roku to connect for about 24 hours, when I would have to do it again. But the laptop died yesterday during my smoke break. So during lunch, I ran to OfficeMax and got a new one. But I don't know where to begin looking for where to change the MAC address (assuming it's possible). I know I can try dual-boot, or a keychain OS, or possibly other things to resurrect my old method. But, is it possible to get Windows do it?

• Sudden "No Signal" in HDMI-DVI connection

  Yesterday I have connected external display Asus VW192C to my laptop Dell XPS 14-L421X via HDMI-to-DVI-D cable. And it worked perfectly fine from start. The day after, Asus screen went blank showing "No signal". Every time I connection/disconnection cable or power off/on the display it says "No signal". And I didn't change any system configurations meanwhile. To troubleshoot the problem, I have tried to connect laptop to TV (hdmi-to-hdmi) - it was fine. I've tried to connect a different laptop to the display via the same cable - worked fine as well. So its obviously something on system level, either Windows or graphics drivers. Also it seems that Windows still see the external display (I can move mouse pointer away from the main screen in Extended mode), but there's just no signal. Any ideas? What else to try? PS. My laptop has 2 graphics cards - GeForce 630M and Intel HD 4000 using NVidia Optimus technology. I have updated to latest Intel and NVidia drivers, still didn't help. PPS. Although I shouldn't have updated (from Intel support): "our Intel generic graphics drivers from the Intel website do not support using both Intel Graphics 4000 and NVidia GeForece GT630M". Nevertheless, it should not affect connectivity to additional display.

• Mod_pagespeed, Varnish and Apache cache issues after new code pushes

  I have a rather strange issue. In my environment we are running a load balanced cluster of 8 apache servers with a master-master MySQL backend. In front of apache we have Varnish in the cache layer. We have been running Apache mod_pagespeed for several weeks now and for the most part it has been working great. The issue arises when we do fresh code updates from Git, and and/all of the JS/CSS assets change. Basically the problem appears to be two fold. One, after the code push we generally take the opportunity to flush varnish, restart apache, and restart varnish. In doing this all of the mod_pagespeed combinied/minified files are cleared out ensuring that all of the new JS/CSS assets are fresh. The problem is, upon doing this the file names that mod_pagespeed creates change, but the old files (appear) to be still cached for many people client side leading to very unexpected results. However, if we do not restart apache, the changes to the files may or may not appear client side due to the cached minified assets. The simple solution is to disable mod_pagespeed, however I would rather not do that as it has made a fairly large impact in performance. I feel as if there must be a better way to deal with the inconsistencies in cache between the client and server to prevent having people to go to great lengths or perform a large number of page refreshes to see a working page. I can provide configuration snippets if anyone needs them.
