• Problem deleting folder.

  Hi, I have two applications , one to run a program and the other to delete the folder containing the application. I call the application to delete the folder from within the application used to run the programs. But when i run the first app the program runs but the folder doesn't get deleted. When i run the deleting app separately, the folder gets deleted. what might be the solution. ? The deleting app is in separate folder.

• jboss web services to tranfer files

  I dont have any experience for web services. please give me some suggestion about the task below. the task is: users will send a txt file (size should less than 20K ) from a .NET application, I need to write a web services which runs by jboss 5.x to read this file and edit this file and send the file back to .NET UI to display the edited version. question is that if the txt file is just test string or binary string, are there any restriction of the string length? if it's binary string, can I need to use BinaryReader class to read it? or not need special reader to read it? (this could be a dumn question :P) what if the .NET application can save the file on either the .NET application server or some shared server location, send a download URL to web serivces, can web services download it and read it? JBoss will be run on Linux sever. After edit the file, how do I send it back? Thanks for your help!

• change label text from a VB6 binary (not source code)

  Hi, we have a VB6 binary executable that comes with no source code. And we need to change the label text for that VB6 application from "AAA" to "BBB". Is there any way or tools that can do that? The closest tool I can find right now is microsoft UISpy, it can read all the other elements but not the label. I hope there is a tool that can change the resource in the .exe so that the label "AAA" will read "BBB". Or is it possible to write a wrapper application, it will launch the .exe, examine the application screen for "AAA" and change that to "BBB"? Thank you for your help!

• Difference to connect to LDAP by BindDn or by username

  We have an application which can only connect to a LDAP (AD) by using the BindDn. When I try to connect from the server which host the application using a simple LDAP client (LDAPAdmin) it connects sucessfully. Recently the sysadmin change the AD (probably to a new machine and new version) but we cannot connect to it using the BindDn anymore, we did not change anything on the settings (BindDn string) except the ldap url pointing to the new server. Is there a special setting on the LDAP server side to enable to connect using BindDn?

  How can I catch something going on if the user chooses the exit option from a menu? I mean I'd like to be able to manage the event of a user who is going to close the application but some activity is being performed so he/she shouldn't be able to exit. Here's the code I wrote. • Can An Android Appliction Be Launched Without a Main Activity?

  I have verified that an App does not need a Main Activity, and in fact does not need any activities. Thanks for the responses on this. But here is another question. Is there any way to launch an application without a main activity declared? If the answer is no, then I have a follow up, can the MAIN action be removed from the application at runtime after launch so that the app no longer has a MAIN activity after launch? Or even can the activity itself be entirely removed from the application at runtime if it is no longer needed. Thanks.

  Hi In this scenario there is point -to point serial connection between R6 and R7 , there is router R10 whose interface F0/0 is having ip address of 10.1.1.2/24 and there is a host machine (R9) with ip address 10.1.1.1/24 which is running an application, My problem is that Application on R9 will only work when it will get its Gateway as 10.1.1.1/24 which is of router (R10) , is there any way i can make R6 and R7 transparent for R9 and R10, Or any type of routing using GRE / Route-map or any other way.   First I would like to explain why I want to use alternate Blackberry Persistance options rather than a Blackberry database itself, say SQLite. The reason is that the application i'm designing, I want it to be used in all the previous versions of Blackberry rather than just the ones having OS 5.0 or greater. Now, coming back to the actual question, I have got a database that I want to replicate to be used in the Blackberry application. The database has 8 tables and each table has approximately 12 different columns. One of the table has 1000 rows. Now if I was to implement this DB for a Blackberry application , keeping in mind that it will work on all the versions of Blackberry, what would be the best way to implement it?

• Is it possible to log the first line of the response in apache?

  Hey, We have an Tomcat server where we're trying to log the HTTP version which the response is sent with. We've seen a few times that it seems to be HTTP/0.9, which kills the content (not supported I guess?). We would like to get some stats on this by using the access log in apache. However, since the header line for this isn't prefixed by anything, we cannot use the %{xxx}o logging. Is there a way to get this? An example: Response is: HTTP/1.1 503 This application is not currently available Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 Content-Type: text/html;charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 1090 Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 12:53:16 GMT Connection: close And we'd like the catch HTTP/1.1 (alternatively, HTTP/1.1 503 This application is not currently available.   So just a quick intro, I am starting to explore Vaadin, and it's absolutely perfect. Previously, I was juggling PHP, Perl, Ruby, and Jquery for designing rich client web application. It didn't work out too well, as I've burnt out from trying to fix cross browser issues (aka get-it-to-work-on-IE-damn-it), handling server-side, client-side, and building a robust communication between the two tier had lot of code not related to application logic....by the time I was burnt out, only tiny bit of application logic was implemented. Vaadin seems like the answer to my problem as it only requires Java and built on top of GWT. However, I am curious how I can incorporate Cross-Domain Javascripting ? Back in LAMP environment, I had a CGI proxy script that loaded external URL, and injected JS into the proxy-loaded page. I used the CGI proxy script, as it rendered Javascript of the external URL well. Is there a class or package for Java or a specific Java web framework similiar to Vaadin that makes this possible ?   I need to have a trial period (7 days) in my application. From this I came to know that you can do that by keeping permanent file, database or shared preference. Where do I keep that file so that the user isn't able to see/delete it. If I put that logic in Sharedpreference or a file with a path "data/data/packagename", when the application is uninstalled then all history will be lost. Any other workaround/ideas? Note: there is no server, application works locally with no Internet.

We will save the theme a poll creator chose on the server and whenever a poll respondent access the poll he will get the questions with the chosen theme. A theme for us means a set of 4-5 colors which we will use to style the poll page.   I have a small application which basically consists of an user-friendly CRUD interface to a few tables (and joined tables) It currently works with a MySQL database but I would like to make it available offline. My first thought was to create a SQLite "buffer" in between the MySQL database and the application, e.g. by executing all queries on the SQLite but also storing them in a log table so that they can be executed later in the main database with very basic conflict resolution (I will basically let the user solve it if a conflict is detected) Due to the simplicity of the application this shouldn't be too difficult and good exercise, but I think I would be re-inventing the wheel. So my question is: are there existing solutions or other approaches for this problem?

  I am working on a project where I need to embed a web server into my C# application so the application could display it's status via HTTP. I suppose I'll want to configure it through the http also. I am looking for an open-source library written in C# and with a licensing scheme that will allow me to link it into my existing closed source code (LGPL). Any suggestions of specific products or where to look first? It would be great if that product could have some kind of scripting, at least templates. All html output would go from the application, only resources would be stored on the disk (images, icons, ...) EDIT: I would like it to run under .NET 2.0, however.

• Using "Go To Controller" and "Go To View" in Visual Studio 2008 when controllers are in different as

  The title is basically the question. We decided to move our controller classes to a separate library and reference it in our asp.net mvc 2 application. It works just fine when running the application, meaning the controllers are being referenced while the application is running. But when doing development (in Visual Studio 2008) and I am in a View and try to use the context menu "Go To Controller" it can't find our controllers in the new assembly. Same with when I am inside a controller, I don't have the Context menu to "Add View" or "Go To View" anymore. Does anyone one know how to remedy this? I searched like crazy but haven't found any solutions or even half solutions. Thanks!

• Separating Spring and Dojo single page app codebases

  I'm working on a web application with a Spring Roo REST API backend and a Dojo single-page client app. Spring Roo provides a handy admin interface (with Web MVC) out of the box, so I'd like to keep that accessible for administrative duties. However I'd like the Dojo app to be decoupled from the server application as possible. The server is a platform for which we expect new client applications to be developed, so I'd like to develop the 'official' client web app in isolation. What is the best (or even just one good) way to structure the application code? It's easy to leave the server alone as an API and admin interface, but where does all the Dojo JS live? It works okay when it's in the Spring webapp directory, but gets complicated quickly as soon as the structure gets more complex or is moved anywhere else (Spring URL mappings are still awfully opaque to me). Ideally it could be hosted locally on a development machine, which introduces all the cross-domain JS issues as well.

• Keeping a window always on top -- including menus (win32)

  I would like to have a layered window that is always-on-top, which I can accomplish, but there are certain screen elements that still get drawn over it, such as menus (including the start menu). Is there any way to make a window or child window of my application have a high enough top-ness property that it will draw over another application's menus? Or is there something built in to windows that ensures that menus in the currently active application are always drawn on top? In fact, I don't really understand all that well how menus work. So it might not even make any sense for me to try to make my window "act like a menu" in hopes of making it cover more things.

• Is the XP VMM a bottleneck on a multi core machine?

  I have a dual Xeon hex core machine running an IO intensive application. (WinXP 32) I am seeing a hardware driver (1/2 user mode, 1/2 kernel, streaming data) that is using 6k delta page faults per second. When other applications load or allocate large amounts of memory the driver's hardware buffer gets an underrun (application not feeding it fast enough). Could this be because the kernel is only using one core to service page fault interrupts?

• [GWT] StackLayoutPanel and MVP

  Hello! Think there might be something about this MVP approach I have completely misunderstood. Currently I am struggling to apply the MVP pattern to the part of my application consisting of a StackLayoutPanel (accordion). To me it seems natural to have a presenter and a view per stack... but how do I allow the different presenters to react when the user switch the state of the stack panel? If someone could sketch an application of the MVP pattern in the case of an accordion application I would be really, really grateful!
