• Wampserver not working in Windows 8

  I recently upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8 successfully. Other application are working perfectly except wampserver. When I double click on the desk top icon, it shows red on the tray bar and then the color changes but when I click Start All Services, nothing happens. Localhost does not open in webbrowser. Skype is not running on my computer, i don't know if there is other application using the same port in Win8. Please help!

• Enter a letter when prompted by another command

  Hi all, I'm trying to automate the installation and deployement of an application. To do it, i have a shell script with the following instructions: /usr/local/bin/amf install -u $1 -p $2 $localTarget where $1, $2 and $localTarget are options for the command named 'amf'. The problem is that the 'amf' command make severall instructions and ask the user to enter a letter during those instructions (to confirm the installation). At the moment, i can't bypass or modify the behaviour of the 'amf' command, so my question is: How can i catch this behaviour and/or automatically enter a letter in my script. This behaviour currently make my script not working, because the 'amf instal...' instruction is followed by another command to start my application. But as the install failed, the application can't start. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards. Kij.

  I am trying to run a progressDialog that will loading items into a Sqlite datebase on a first load for my application. I get an error message because the application runs the rest of the code in the application before the rest of the data is loaded into the database. How do I make sure the code is completed in the progressDialog before the code in the rest of the program? • Hold most of the object in cache/memory insted of database?

  Hi All, It just occurred to me why not to have most of the objects in a cache(memory) when an application start. if it's not that large web application. Or to have a settings for how much I want to put in the cache/memory. I just guess it could require to have something like below 1 GB RAM or a lot less. Everything in order to speed up the application even more by not querying database. Is it good idea?

• Why must user be logged in for impersonation to work?

  My Windows Server 2008 server hosts an ASP.net application that uses impersonation. The application works as long as the user being impersonated remains logged on to the server. However, when the user logs off, clients can no longer view the web pages. They get a cryptic error instead. How can I configure the server to work without the impersonated user remaining logged on? • Best way to access a sqlite database file in a web service.

  First question from me on stack overflow. I have created a java web application containing a web service using netbeans (I hope a web application were the correct choice). I use the web application as is with no extra frameworks. This web service use a sqlite JDBC driver for accessing a sqlite database file. My problem is that the file path end up incorrect when I try to form the JDBC connection string. Also, the working directory is different when deploying and when running JUnit tests. I read somewhere about including the file as a resource, but examples of this were nowhere to be seen. In any case, what is the best way to open the sqlite database, both when the web service is deployed and when I test it "localy"? I don't know much about web services, I just need it to work, so please, help me with the technicalities.

  I would like to write a "daemon" application that will add a special audio filter (e.g. audio enhancement) to AudioRecord. The result should be as follows: Whenever any VoIP application (e.g. Skype,...) will create an AudioRecord, the captured audio will be first filtered using my daemon application before it reaches Skype. Is this doable ? For example can I use an AudioSessionID=0 to attach my filter to all the input channels ?

  I want to create an android application using Eclipse Juno, but then i am getting confused of what the "activity" actually is. The first time i created android app project, there was an option that require me to select whether i want to create activity, and if so, i need to choose between BlankActivity and MasterDetailFlow. Also, is it possible that an application has many activities? I think i need some tutorials about creating android application using eclipse, so if you have a good tuts either it is in text or videos i will appreciate it.   I am new to IntelliJ (and Stackoverflow) and fairly new to Java,In my application I am using code from jars that in IntelliJ I added as "External Libraries". I also have the source code for those jars, but I rather not compile it (they are huge and complex). Now while debugging my application I would like to step into the library code that is compiled into those jars. How can I set up IntelliJ to do that? Is there another way other that attaching the entire jar library source code to my application code?

  I am making one application where user will print invoices which I am displaying using Crystal Report. The user showed me his current application made using ForPro. In that application, under Printer Options form, one can see all the printers currently installed and the user could select default printer. When the invoice is made, the user presses the print button, then there is one dialog asking for no. of copies. When it's entered, the invoice gets printed directly, without any Print Dialog Box. If the user wants to change the printer again he/she will change it in the Printer Option form. I want to know if similar thing is possible in Crystal Report and need guidance on how to approach for it.

  I need the ability to load and start a GWT App at any time in an Echo2 environment. My first approach was to load and execute the nocache.js in a Client-Server sync using var script = document.createElement("script"); script.setAttribute("src",javascriptURI); script.setAttribute("type","text/javascript"); document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(script); This call basically works, but when the script is executed it operates on an EMPTY document instead of the current document of the Echo2 application. Has the script to be somehow initialized first or is there any event required? The GWT application/script works fine if it's included in the start-up HTML of the application, so I assume the GWT App to be correct. The original standalone HTML of the GWT App has the HTML script tag in the body as well.

• trouble adding a rectange in actionscript

  I have a rectange that I've created and set its individual properties like so var aRect:Rect = new Rect(); aRect.x = 10; aRect.y = 10; aRect.width = "15%"; aRect.height = "15%"; addChild(aRect); I have 2 problems that the compiler seems to be choking on. The first is that the compiler chokes on 15% and "15%", with or without the quotes, neither works. The second is that adding the rectangle doesn't work. I tried all the following, but nothing works. addChild(aRect); Application.addChild(aRect); Application.application.addChild(aRect); stage.addChild(aRect); What's the deal, I thought actionscript would be nicer than mxml.

  In Blackberry Runtime Store, when sharing objects between applications. How can we call methods of the shared object in another application, if the object itself is not recognized in the other application ? i am getting a runtime error when object gets typecasted, as that object is not defined in the calling applicatoin . If i typecast it to super interface and have the interface in another application. When i call getClass() on the object returned from the runtimestore. It shows as concrete class instance stored in the RunTimeStore. How can a share a object in runtimestore and use it across different applications ?

• AudioOutputUnitStart takes time

  Hello, I'm making an iPhone game application using Core Audio, Extended Audio File Services. It works OK, but when I first call AudioOutputUnitStart, it takes about 1-2 seconds. After the second call, no problem. For a game application, 1-2 seconds is very noticeable. (I tested this on iPhone simulator, and iPhone 3GS) Also, if I leave the game for about 10 seconds, first call of AudioOutputUnitStart also takes time. Maybe I have to call AudioOutputUnitStart beginning of the application to prevent the start-up time?

• Export from a standalone database to an embedded database.

  I have a two-part application, where there is a central database that is edited, and then at certain times, the data is released and distributed as its own application. I would like to use a standalone database for the central database (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and then have a reliable export to an embedded database (probably SQLite) for distribution. What tools/processes are available for such an export, or is it a practice to be avoided? EDIT: A couple of additional pieces of information. The distributed application should be able to run without having to connect to another server (ex: your spellchecker still works even you don't have internet), and I don't want to install a full DB server for read-only access to the data.

Now I have a software whose extension is .ipa I am looking for a way to run this file either on Windows or on Linux. There exists Wine which can run .exe files on Linux, similarly is there something which can run .ipa either on linux or windows?? On closing this 2nd From by user Memory used by this form not released (from Task Manager). I Tried using this.dispose() on exit button ,tried this.close() , tried form2 =null in the main code ,and tried clearing all controls from this form by code before Disposing and every time the clicks the button memory usage by the application increases more and memory used by previous instance not released. What shall i use to solve this problem ?

Up until now, I've only been using the pre-generated Fill queries, and self-made update and delete queries (which return nothing). I am interested in storing the value of a single value from a single column (an 'nchar(15)' name), and though I have easily written the SQL code to return that value to the application, I have no idea what it will be returned as. However when I move it over to a test this returns null: var masterKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("path_to_my_key"); So my question is: Does Visual Studio run Tests with a less privileged process? I tested to see what user this gave me: var x = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name; and it gives me the same as in the console application. So I am a bit confused here.

  I'm tasked to replicate a few functionnalities from an existing application. This application rely on .NET managed assemblies accessible from C#. I can import those DLLs in my new C# project but there is no documentation on how to use them. Yes, this is labeled as an "SDK", but does not contain examples or documentation. Any pointers on how I should procceed? I thought about creating stubs assemblies and monitor their usage by the original application but this involves a lot of code, maybe a tool could do it for me?

  Hi, I write applications for Windowe ME and CE in C# .NET 2.0. Sometimes I’ve got problems because applications don’t work on some navigation devices. On Windowe ME it is not problem because .NET can be installed from a cab, but on most Windows CE devices it is impossible because after soft reset all changes disappear. I found out that in most difficult cases good solution is to put all dll-s belonging to .NET installation cab in the folder where the application runs and everything work well. However there are some devices for example Navroad NR460 (Windows CE 5.0) on which none of .NET applications work (it is funny because previous and next version of that navigation works well). I didn’t found on this device cgacutil.exe program. Is this possible to force the device to run any .NET application without installing the Windows again? What should I try to do to check if running .NET a applications is possible? What conditions should be fulfilled to run easiest application written even in .NET 1.0

• How to check for a file's authenticity ?

  Let's say I write a game application. I want the level of the player to be stored in an external file. How can I prevent a hacker from writing and modifying the file to put another level ? I want the file to be modified by my application only. I can sign the file's content with a key, but then this key will be stored in the application, therefore it would be possible for a hacker to decompile the binary and find the key. Is there any way to do this ?
