  • Questions about HTML5 audio

    - by Nimbuz
<audio src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/82/Riddle_song.ogg"></audio> <ul id="lyrics"> <li>line 1</li> <li>line 2</li> <li>line 3</li> <li>and so on...</li> </ul><!-- end #lyrics --> So I want to: Highlight (change color or background) of the line that is being played. Save current time to a cookie and resume on next visit. I'm not sure if either of these are possible in HTML5, but even in Flash or other technology, I'd like to know if and how it is possible. I understand #2 is asking too much, but #1 is really important. So almost similar to this: http://randallagordon.com/jaraoke/ but all the lines are visible, just the current line is highlighted. Many thanks for your help.

  • Unit test approach for generic classes/methods

    - by Greg
Hi, What's the recommended way to cover off unit testing of generic classes/methods? For example (referring to my example code below). Would it be a case of have 2 or 3 times the tests to cover testing the methods with a few different types of TKey, TNode classes? Or is just one class enough? public class TopologyBase<TKey, TNode, TRelationship> where TNode : NodeBase<TKey>, new() where TRelationship : RelationshipBase<TKey>, new() { // Properties public Dictionary<TKey, NodeBase<TKey>> Nodes { get; private set; } public List<RelationshipBase<TKey>> Relationships { get; private set; } // Constructors protected TopologyBase() { Nodes = new Dictionary<TKey, NodeBase<TKey>>(); Relationships = new List<RelationshipBase<TKey>>(); } // Methods public TNode CreateNode(TKey key) { var node = new TNode {Key = key}; Nodes.Add(node.Key, node); return node; } public void CreateRelationship(NodeBase<TKey> parent, NodeBase<TKey> child) { . . .

  • Div appearing outside its parent, bizarre sizing problems...

    - by SLC
I have a list, which is going to be a menu. I want to position it absolutely at the very top of the page. My code looks like this: <div id="sitenavmenu"> <div id="sitenavmenu-content"> <ul id="sitenavmenu-content-menu"> <li>Register</li> <li><%: Html.ActionLink("About", "About", "Home")%></li> <li>Contact Us</li> </ul> </div> </div> My CSS looks like this: #sitenavmenu { position:absolute; margin-left:300px; top:2px; width:500px; } #sitenavmenu-content-menu li { list-style-type:none; display:inline; padding-right:5px; font-size:small; } The problem I have is, if I don't position it absolutely, it looks fine. As soon as I position it absolutely (as it is shown above), the sitenavmenu div changes size, and although it shifts to the top, the sitenavmenu-content div appears below it. There is no other CSS as I have only just started, and I have checked padding etc. and everything is zero. I just can't figure out why it's not working, and I don't want to hack it. Edit: It's something to do with the height of #sitenavmenu. If I leave it, then the sitenav-content ends up horizontally centered in it, although #sitenavmenu is much taller. If I make them both the same size, so they should sit on top of each other, then the #sitenavmenu-content sits below.

  • How to iterate properly across a const set?

    - by Jared
I'm working on a program that's supposed to represent a graph. My issue is in my printAdjacencyList function. Basically, I have a Graph ADT that has a member variable "nodes", which is a map of the nodes of that graph. Each Node has a set of Edge* to the edges it is connected to. I'm trying to iterate across each node in the graph and each edge of a node. void MyGraph::printAdjacencyList() { std::map<std::string, MyNode*>::iterator mit; std::set<MyEdge*>::iterator sit; for (mit = nodes.begin(); mit != nodes.end(); mit++ ) { std::cout << mit->first << ": {"; const std::set<MyEdge*> edges = mit->second->getEdges(); for (sit = edges.begin(); sit != edges.end(); sit++) { std::pair<MyNode*, MyNode*> edgeNodes = *sit->getEndpoints(); } } std::cout << " }" << std::endl; } getEdges is declared as: const std::set<MyEdge*>& getEdges() { return edges; }; and get Endpoints is declared as: const std::pair<MyNode*, MyNode*>& getEndpoints() { return nodes; }; The compiler error I'm getting is: MyGraph.cpp:63: error: request for member `getEndpoints' in `*(&sit)->std::_Rb_tree_const_iterator<_Tp>::operator-> [with _Tp = MyEdge*]()', which is of non-class type `MyEdge* const' MyGraph.cpp:63: warning: unused variable 'edgeNodes' I have figured out that this probably means I'm misusing const somewhere, but I can't figure out where for the life of me. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • method for creating PHP templates (ie html with variables)?

    - by Haroldo
I'm designing my html emails, these are to be a block of html containing variables that i can store in a $template variable. My problem comes with the storing in the variable part. putting all my html into php makes it a pain in the bum to work with. for example, the below code is fine for a simple email but once i start getting nested tables etc its going to get really confusing... $template.= 'Welcome ' . $username . '<br /><br /><br />'; $template.= 'Thank-you for creating an account <br /><br />'; $template.= 'Please confirm your account by click the link below! <br /><br />'; $template.= '<a href="' . $sitepath . '?email=' . $email . '&conf_key=' . $key . '" style="color: #03110A;"><font size="5" font-family="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" color="#03110A">' . $key . '</font></a>'; $template.='</body></html>'; is there a way i can still store the html in a $var but not have to write it like this?

  • css, fixed size

    - by gloris
    Hi, I need three tables (div). The left and right sides of the occupied 50% of the free window. The center is fixed. Everything seems fine, but right down to jump off the table. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body{ margin:0; padding:0; } #left{ float: left; width: 50%; background: #FDA02E; margin-left: -300px; } #center{ float: left; width: 600px; margin-right: 300px; background: #C8FF98; } #right{ float: left; width: 50%; margin-left: -300px; background: #FDE95E; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="pag"> <div id="left"> Left </div> <div id="center"> Center </div> <div id="right"> Right </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • How to refactor models without breaking WPF views?

    - by Tim Murphy
I've just started learning WPF and like the power of databinding it presents; that is ignoring the complexity and confusion for a noob. My concern is how do you safely refactor your models/viewmodels without breaking the views that use them? Take the following snippet of a view for example: <Grid> <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Contacts}"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="First Name" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=FirstName}"/> <GridViewColumn Header="Last Name" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=FirstName}"/> <GridViewColumn Header="DOB" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=DateOfBirth}"/> <GridViewColumn Header="# Pets" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=NumberOfPets}"/> <GridViewColumn Header="Male" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=IsMale}"/> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> </Grid> The list is bound to the Contacts property, IList(Of Contact), of the windows DataSource and each of the properties for a Contact is bound to a GridViewColumn. Now if I change the name of the NumberOfPets property in the Contact model to PetCount the view will break. How do I prevent the view breaking?

  • Parent-child height problem

    - by Vector
I have a parent div that has position: relative and his child has position: absolute. Such positions is a must. The problem is the parent does not stretch to the height of the child. The question is how to make it stretch to the height of the child? The mark-up is similar to this: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <style> .parent { position: relative; border: solid 1px red; } .child { position: absolute; border: solid 1px red; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="parent"> <div class="child">Hello World!</div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Is there a Visual Studio (or freeware) equivalent for Expression Blend's "Edit Template" feature?

    - by DanM
In Expression Blend, you can view and edit the control template of objects in the "Objects and Timeline" panel. I'm wondering if there's an equivalent feature in Visual Studio or if there's something free (or very inexpensive) I can download that will allow me to do this. Here's a screen cap from Expression Blend that shows what I'm talking about: Doing this for DataGrid results in the following: <Style x:Key="DataGridStyle1" TargetType="{x:Type Custom:DataGrid}"> ... <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Custom:DataGrid}"> ... </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsGrouping" Value="True"> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.CanContentScroll" Value="False"/> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> (The ... is of course replaced with setters and the contents of the control template.) This is a very useful starting point if you want to create a custom style and template for a control. It seems like you can do pretty much anything you can do in Blend in Studio, but this one is eluding me. Any ideas? Edit I'm also curious if this feature will be in Visual Studio 2010. Anyone know?

  • PHP Mailer Class - Securing Email Credentials

    - by Alan A
I am using the php mailer class to send email via my scripts. The structure is as follows: $mail = new PHPMailer; $mail->IsSMTP(); // Set mailer to use SMTP $mail->Host = 'myserver.com'; // Specify main and backup server $mail->SMTPAuth = true; // Enable SMTP authentication $mail->Username = '[email protected]'; // SMTP username $mail->Password = 'user123'; // SMTP password $mail->SMTPSecure = 'pass123'; It seems to me to be a bit of a security hole having the mailbox credentials in plain view. So I thought I might put these in an external file outside of the web root. My question is how would I then assign the $mail object these values. I of course no how to use include and/or requires... would it simple be a case of.... $mail->IsSMTP(); // Set mailer to use SMTP $mail->Host = 'myserver.com'; // Specify main and backup server $mail->SMTPAuth = true; // Enable SMTP authentication includes '../locationOutsideWebroot/emailCredntials.php'; $mail->SMTPSecure = 'pass123'; Then emailCredentails.php: <?php $mail->Username = '[email protected]'; $mail->Password = 'user123'; ?> Would this be sufficient and secure enough? Thanks, Alan.

  • ASP.NET DropDownList control doesn't postback correctly inside of UserControl

    - by RichardAZ
I have a situation where a DropDownList control is not posting back correctly. The AutoPost property is set to true, so the postback does happen, but the SelectedValue is not set to the correct value. In addition, the onSelectedIndexChanged event doesn't fire. The exact same code works perfect fine on an ASPX page, but does not work in a ASCX control. I have tried all the obvious things, I hope, trying to figure this one out, but no luck so far. I have even investigated what comes back in Request.Form["__EVENTTARGET"] and __EVENTARGUMENT. __EVENTTARGET does point to the drop down list, but the argument is empty. Can the folks of StackOverflow help lead me in the right direction to debug this issue. Of course, it is further complicated by master pages and the usual overcomplication of ASP.NET. Here is the code: <div> <asp:DropDownList ID="testDrop" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" EnableViewState="true" onselectedindexchanged="testDrop_SelectedIndexChanged"> <asp:ListItem Value="1" Text="1">1</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="2" Text="2">2</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> </div> And here is the generated html: <select id="ctl00_MainContent_rptAccordion_ctl00_statControl_testDrop" onchange="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'ctl00$MainContent$rptAccordion$ctl00$statControl$testDrop\',\'\')', 0)" name="ctl00$MainContent$rptAccordion$ctl00$statControl$testDrop"> <option value="1" selected="selected">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> THANKS!

  • Eclipse Ant Builder problem

    - by styx777
I made a custom ant script to automatically create a jar file each time I do a build. This is how it looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <project name="TestProj" basedir="." default="jar"> <property name="dist" value="dist" /> <property name="build" value="bin/test/testproj" /> <target name="jar"> <jar destfile="${dist}/TestProj.jar"> <manifest> <attribute name="Main-Class" value="test.testproj.TestProj" /> </manifest> <fileset dir="${build}" /> </jar> </target> </project> I added it by Right clicking my project properties builders clicked new Ant builder then I specified the location of the above xml file. However, when I run it by doing: java -jar TestProj.jar I get a NoClassDefFoundError test/testproj/TestProj I'm using Eclipse in Ubuntu. TestProj is the name of the class and it's in package test.testproj I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the manifest and probably the location of the xml file as well but I'm not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?

  • Custom progress bar label text via binding

    - by Alexander K
I was playing with progress bar customization in Silverlight application. What I want to reach is to have progress bar label to show current its state in the following format: "Value / Maximum". So, user will see what is the current value, and what is the maximum possible value. Here is a style for progress bar I use: <Style x:Key="ProgressBarStyle" TargetType="ProgressBar"> <Setter Property="Width" Value="97.21" /> <Setter Property="Height" Value="19" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ProgressBar"> <Canvas x:Name="LevelField" Width="99" Height="21"> ... <TextBlock ... DataContext="{TemplateBinding Value}" Text="{Binding Converter={StaticResource DecNumberToStringConverter}}"/> </Canvas> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> The way I want to implement this, is to have a value converter, that will convert current value and maximum possible into the proper string. It does work properly, if it is written like above. However, I also need to provide ConverterParameter for Convertor, but not sure how to make it. When I write like this: , ConvertParameter={Binding Maximum}, it shows error on start, that Text attribute is not found in TextBlock. I was also trying to set DataContext as {RelativeSource Self}, but then it didn't displays error that DataContext attribute is not found. How to make the described progress bar label properly?

  • Strange offset space between <button> as parent container and <div> as child.

    - by Maxja
I need to decorate a standard html button. The base element I took <button> instead of <input>, cos I decided that the element must be a parent container. And there is child element <div> in it. This <div> element will be been the core element for decoration, and should occupy the entire space of the parent element - button. <button> <div>*decoration goes here*</div> </button> And within Cascading Style Sheets it might be looks like this: css button { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: *150*px; height: *50*px; position: relative; } div { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; background: *black*; position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; } html <button type="button"> <div>*decoration goes here*</div> </button> So, Opera(10) is doing well, webkits Chrome(6) and Safari(4) is doing also well, but Internet Explorer(8) is bad - DOM Inspector shows some strange Offset space in top and left, FireFox(3) is also bad - DOM Inspector shows that <div> get some negative value in css-property right: and bottom:. Even if this property will set to zero(0) DOM-Inspector still shows same negative value. I almost broke my brain. Help me, solve this problem, please!

  • JavaScript for loop index strangeness

    - by pythonBOI
I'm relatively new to JS so this may be a common problem, but I noticed something strange when dealing with for loops and the onclick function. I was able to replicate the problem with this code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function () { var buttons = document.getElementsByTagName('a'); for (var i=0; i<2; i++) { buttons[i].onclick = function () { alert(i); return false; } } } </script> </head> <body> <a href="">hi</a> <br /> <a href="">bye</a> </body> </html> When clicking the links I would expect to get '0' and '1', but instead I get '2' for both of them. Why is this? BTW, I managed to solve my particular problem by using the 'this' keyword, but I'm still curious as to what is behind this behavior.

  • How to give new life into a five years old, simple but reliable PHP form?

    - by Sam
Hi all. I have a script in php 5.2. I want to use a simple form. I found something a programmer made for me about 5 years ago. When I use it, PHP outputs an error now unless I set register_long_arrays = On, then it works fine. On the PHP website, however, it says: Warning This feature has been DEPRECATED as of PHP 5.3.0. Relying on this feature is highly discouraged. It's recommended to turn them off, for performance reasons. Instead, use the superglobal arrays, like $_GET. Should I listen to PHP's warning, or just enable the option and keep using my old form happily? If the former, then how/where do I change this simple form, so it does not rely on the deprecated setting? Your answer is much appreciated. form.htm <html><body> <form method="POST" action="form_sent.php"> ... </form> </body></html> form_sent.php <html><body> <?php $email = $HTTP_POST_VARS[email]; $mailto = "[email protected]"; $mailsubj = "A Form was Sent from Website!"; $mailhead = "From: $email\n"; reset ($HTTP_POST_VARS); $mailbody = "Values submitted from web site form:\n"; while (list($key, $val) = each ($HTTP_POST_VARS)){$mailbody .= "$key : $val\n";} if (!eregi("\n",$HTTP_POST_VARS[email])) { mail($mailto, $mailsubj, $mailbody, $mailhead); } ?> <b>Form Sent. Thank you.</b> </body></html>

  • XPath Query - Select relative top level nodes

    - by John
I'm trying to iterate over some elements in an XML document that may be nested, but as I iterate over them I may be removing some from the tree. I'm thinking the best way is to do this recursively, so I'm trying to come up with an XPath Query that will select all the top-level nodes relative to the current node. //foo[not(ancestor::foo)] works great at the document level, but I'm trying to figure out how to do this from a relative query. <foo id="1"> <foo id="2" /> <foo id="3"> <foo id="4"> <bar> <foo id="5"> <foo id="6" /> </foo> <foo id="7" /> </bar> </foo> </foo> </foo> If the current node is foo#3, I only want to select foo#4. When the current node is foo#4, I only want to select foo#5 and foo#7. I think I'm trying to select any descendant foo nodes of the current node, but without any ancestor foo nodes between the current node and the node I'm selecting. My conundrum is if we're already inside a foo node, not(ancestor::foo) doesn't help.

  • Accessing and manipulating lwpf listbox datatemplate elements

    - by black sensei
Hello good people , i'm trying to achieve a functionality but i'm don't know how to start it. I'm using vs 2008 sp1 and i'm consuming a webservice which returns a collection (is contactInfo[]) that i bind to a ListBox with little datatemplate on it. <ListBox Margin="-146,-124,-143,-118.808" Name="contactListBox" MaxHeight="240" MaxWidth="300" MinHeight="240" MinWidth="300"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock> <CheckBox Name="contactsCheck" Uid="{Binding fullName}" Checked="contacts_Checked" /><Label Content="{Binding fullName}" FontSize="15" FontWeight="Bold"/> <LineBreak/> <Label Content="{Binding mobile}" FontSize="10" FontStyle="Italic" Foreground="DimGray" /> <Label Content="{Binding email}" FontStyle="Italic" FontSize="10" Foreground="DimGray"/> </TextBlock> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Every works fine so far. so When a checkbox is checked i'll like to access the information of the labels (either the) belonging to the same row or attached to it and append the information to a global variable for example (for each checkbox checked). My problem right now is that i don't know how to do that. Can any one shed some light on how to do that? if you notice Checked="contacts_Checked" that's where i planned to perform the operations. thanks for reading and helping out

  • Codeigniter - Active record - sql - complex join

    - by Jack
I have a function that retrieves all tags from a table: function global_popular_tags() { $this->db->select('tags.*, COUNT(tags.id) AS count'); $this->db->from('tags'); $this->db->join('tags_to_work', 'tags.id = tags_to_work.tag_id'); $this->db->group_by('tags.id'); $this->db->order_by('count', 'desc'); $query = $this->db->get()->result_array(); return $query; } I have another table called 'work'. The 'work' table has a 'draft' column with values of either 1 or 0. I want the COUNT(tags.id) to take into account whether the work with the specific tag is in draft mode (1) or not. Say there are 10 pieces of work tagged with, for example, 'design'. The COUNT will be 10. But 2 of these pieces of work are in draft mode, so the COUNT should really be 8. How do I manage this?

  • Iteration through the HtmlDocument. All collection stops at the referenced stylesheet?

    - by Jonas
Since "bug in .NET" is often not the real cause of a problem, I wonder if I'm missing something here. What I'm doing feels pretty simple. I'm iterating through the elements in a HtmlDocument called doc like this: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("*** " + doc.Url + " ***"); foreach (HtmlElement field in doc. All) System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("Tag = {0}, ID = {1} ", field.TagName, field.Id)); I then discovered the debug window output was this: Tag = !, ID = Tag = HTML, ID = Tag = HEAD, ID = Tag = TITLE, ID = Tag = LINK, ID = ... when the actual HTML document looks like this: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Protocol</title> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="ProtocolStyle.css"> </head> <body onselectstart="return false"> <table> <!-- Misc. table elements and cell values --> </table> </body> </html> Commenting out the LINK tag solves the issue for me, and the document is completely parsed. The ProtocolStyle.css file exist on disk and is loaded properly, if that would matter. Is this a bug in .NET 3.5 SP1, or what? For being such a web-oriented framework, I find it hard to believe there would be such a major bug in it.
