  • REST application, Transactions, Cache drop

    Hi, I am building REST API in php with memcache layer on top for caching all resources. After some reading experience it turns out it's best when documents are as simple as posible...mainly due to dropping cache sequences. So if there is 'building','room' entities for the 'room' document I would only place the id of the 'building' and not the whole data of it. Then on api client side I would merge data as needed. Problem becomes when I need to update/insert (most cases more than one table). I update one resource but on second update system fails or whatever and there becomes database inconsistancies. I see several solutions: 1. Implement rest transactions which I find wrong and complex as idea is to be stateless and easy. 2. On update/insert actions I pass more complex data (not single entities) so I can force transactions on API level. But this will make it weird that your GET document structure is same as PUT document structure. And again somehow make drop sequences complex. Any pointers are more than welcome. Cheers,

  • Django Admin: not seeing any app (permission problem?)

    I have a site with Django running some custom apps. I was not using the Django ORM, just the view and templates but now I need to store some info so I created some models in one app and enabled the Admin. The problem is when I log in the Admin it just says "You don't have permission to edit anything", not even the Auth app shows in the page. I'm using the same user created with syncdb as a superuser. In the same server I have another site that is using the Admin just fine. Using Django 1.1.0 with Apache/2.2.10 mod_python/3.3.1 Python/2.5.2, with psql (PostgreSQL) 8.1.11 all in Gentoo Linux 2.6.23 Any ideas where I can find a solution? Thanks a lot. UPDATE: It works from the development server. I bet this has something to do with some filesystem permission but I just can't find it.   • Problem Activating Sharepoint Timer Job

    I have created a very simple sharepoint timer job. All i want it to do is iterate through a list and update each list item so that it triggers an existing workflow that works fine. In other words all i am trying to do is work around the limitation that workflows cannot be triggered on a scheduled basis. I have written a class that inherits from SPJobDefinition that does the work and i have a class that inherits from SPFeatureReceiver to install and activate it. I have created the feature using SPVisualdev that my coleagues have used in the past for other SP development. I am not sure what is null in this case, the example i have followed for this is this tutorial. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

The trigger compiles and all and even worked one time, but it was the only one. I've inserted or updated my prec_total_if in item_fornecimento in sqldeveloper, but the order's (fornecimento) total still not change :(. If it's important, my f.total_enc_fornec it's null until it's replaced by a value inserted by this triggers; it prints the output, but it seems to fail updating.

  • Basic Subversion questions

    I've just started using subversion, and have read the official documentation (svn book), cheat sheet and a couple of guides. I know how to install subversion (in linux), create a repository (svnadmin create), and import my Eclipse project into the repository (SVN import), view the repository files (using svn list). But I am unable to understand some of the other terminologies. For example, after importing my Eclipse project into the newly created repository I have made changes to my Eclipse project (more than 1 file). Now, how should I update the repository with this added files/changes made to my Eclipse project? The svn update command brings the changes from the repository into your working copy - which is the opposite of what I want i.e. bring the changes I made in my Eclipse project into the previously imported project in repository. If I am correct, you update the repository more often (as you keep extending your project implementation) than your current project (with update). Also, I do not understand when would you use svn merge. The svn book states it applies the differences between 2 sources to a working copy. Is there a scenario which would explain this? Finally, can I have more than 1 project checked into the repository? Or is it better to create a new repository for each project?

    hello. I'm working on program which dynamically(in runtime) loads dlls. For an example: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll. In this dll we have this enum: namespace Microsoft.AnalysisServices { [Flags] public enum UpdateOptions { Default = 0, ExpandFull = 1, AlterDependents = 2, } } and we also have this class Cube: namespace Microsoft.AnalysisServices { public sealed class Cube : ... { public Cube(string name); public Cube(string name, string id); .. .. .. } } I dynamically load this dll and create object Cube. Than i call a method Cube.Update(). This method deploy Cube to SQL Analysis server. But if i want to call this method with parameters Cube.Update(UpdateOptions.ExpandFull) i get error, because method doesn't get appropriate parameter. I have already tried this, but doesn't work: dynamic updateOptions = AssemblyLoader.LoadStaticAssembly("Microsoft.AnalysisServices", "Microsoft.AnalysisServices.UpdateOptions");//my class for loading assembly Array s = Enum.GetNames(updateOptions); dynamic myEnumValue = s.GetValue(1);//1 = ExpandFull dynamicCube.Update(myEnumValue);// == Cube.Update(UpdateOptions.ExpandFull) I know that error is in parameter myEnumValue but i don't know how to get dynamically enum type from assembly and pass it to the method.   • Default Database Collations PenTesting Env

    I am using Ubuntu 9.10 with XAMPP ( Lampp "MYSQL 5.1.45 PHPMYADMIN 3.3.1 PHP 5.3.2 ) What my problem is, is that I set up my testing env to debug my scripts locally and when I did so there arose a problem. This problem is that I used firefox's addon SQLinject ME to test for weakness' and upon doing so it caused mysql to change the default local collations; character sets dir /opt/lampp/share/mysql/charsets/ collation connection latin1_general_ci (Global value) latin1_swedish_ci collation database latin1_swedish_ci collation server latin1_swedish_ci I have searched for quite sometime in regards to a solution to this problem and have come up with searching for the db.opt file which stores this information without success. Upon not finding a solution I removed lampp with the "sudo rm -fR /opt" command and reinstall and the problem still persists. I have tried to change the collations manually and still come up with the database displaying latin1_swedish_ci as the default language. Why is this a problem?? Why is it a problem with mysql? Because the application I am testing and debugging locally is built on the CodeIgnitor with Smarty framework and since this combination of framework is built to detect the LOCALES, Rather what the database defaults are I keep getting errors saying no language file for swedish...... Of course I could get the swedish language file to work around this problem but I do not feel the need to make this work around a perminant solution as with time when I move on to projects I will run into simular problems every time that A; When importing database files, backups etc it will default to import such databases as the locale swedish. B; As time passes on I might completly forget of this error and will be back to square one. I have found this code in searches for a fix,which seems to alter the tables to a desired Collaion; $value) { mysql_query("ALTER TABLE $value COLLATE latin1_general_ci"); }} echo "The collation of your database has been successfully changed!"; ? Which is handy to switch collations in One Schema at a time however this is not a fix when a framework doesnt care that the said database is in one langugae. It tests for the Default of the entire server. Someone with any knowledge of a purge or fix to this I would greatly appricate the help. One more final note is that when I was testing I only figured to back up the applications DataBase and not the entire Schema of the install. No matter if I uninstall or reinstall the database still seems to carry these problems.

  • Updating nullability of columns in SQL 2008

    I have a very wide table, containing lots and lots of bit fields. These bit fields were originally set up as nullable. Now we've just made a decision that it doesn't make sense to have them nullable; the value is either Yes or No, default No. In other words, the schema should change from: create table MyTable( ID bigint not null, Name varchar(100) not null, BitField1 bit null, BitField2 bit null, ... BitFieldN bit null ) to create table MyTable( ID bigint not null, Name varchar(100) not null, BitField1 bit not null, BitField2 bit not null, ... BitFieldN bit not null ) alter table MyTable add constraint DF_BitField1 default 0 for BitField1 alter table MyTable add constraint DF_BitField2 default 0 for BitField2 alter table MyTable add constraint DF_BitField3 default 0 for BitField3 So I've just gone in through the SQL Management Studio, updating all these fields to non-nullable, default value 0. And guess what - when I try to update it, SQL Mgmt studio internally recreates the table and then tries to reinsert all the data into the new table... including the null values! Which of course generates an error, because it's explicitly trying to insert a null value into a non-nullable column. Aaargh! Obviously I could run N update statements of the form: update MyTable set BitField1 = 0 where BitField1 is null update MyTable set BitField2 = 0 where BitField2 is null but as I said before, there are n fields out there, and what's more, this change has to propagate out to several identical databases. Very painful to implement manually. Is there any way to make the table modification just ignore the null values and allow the default rule to kick in when you attempt to insert a null value?

  • Automatic Deployment to Multiple Production Environments

    I want to update an ASP .NET web application (including web.config file changes and database scripts) to multiple production environments - ideally with the click of a button. I do not have direct network connectivity to any of them. I think this means the application servers will have to "pull" the information required for updating the application, and run a script to update the application that resides on the server. Basically, I need a way to "publish" an update, and the servers see that update and automatically download and run it. I've thought about possibly setting up an SFTP server for publishing updates, and developing a custom tool which is installed on production environments which looks at the SFTP server every day and downloads application files if they are available. That would at least get the required files onto the servers, and I could use xcopy/robocopy and Migrator.NET to deploy the updates. Still not sure about config file changes, but that at least gets me somewhere. Is there any good solution for this scenario? Are there any tools that do this for you?

    I am currently reading this documentation here where I want to use CRON. Now it says in the first section that I need to enter in a command: crontab -e. Do I only need to enter this in a simple text editor file and just upload the file into the server?   • Routing trouble for RESTful API - Rails

    I'm building out an API for web app that I've been working on for some time. I've started with the User model. The user portion of the API will allow remote clients to a) retrieve user data, b) update user information and c) create new users. I've gotten all of this to work, but it doesn't seem like its setup correctly. Here are my questions: Should the API endpoint be users or user? What's the best practice? I have to add the action to the end, which I would expect to be picked up instead by the request type so I don't have to specify it explicitly. How do I get my routes setup properly as not to have to include the method for protected actions? Let me give some examples: Get request for show - want it to work without the "show" curl -u rmbruno:blah http://app.local/api/users/show Put request for update - want it to work without the "update" curl -X put -F 'user[forum_notifications]=true' -u rmbruno:blah http://app.local/api/users/update Create - works with or without 'create' which is what I want for all these actions curl -X post -F 'user[login]=mamafatta' -F 'user[email][email protected]' -F 'user[password]=12345678' http://twye.local/api/users/ How do I structure routes to not require the action name? Isn't that the common way to to RESTful APIs?     I am trying work out with MERGE statment to Insert / Update Dimension Table of Type SCD2 My source is a Table var to Merge with Dimension table. My MERGE statement is throwing an error as: The target table 'DM.DATA_ERROR.ERROR_DIMENSION' of the INSERT statement cannot be on either side of a (primary key, foreign key) relationship when the FROM clause contains a nested INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, or MERGE statement. Found reference constraint 'FK_ERROR_DIMENSION_to_AUDIT_CreatedBy'.
