I cannot manually update MSE...I receive error warning 0x8007000d. I have tried rebooting numerous times and checking the firewall but I need advice from someone more knowledgable than myself. Thank You
Hi,
I have done something quite silly and not sure how to fix it.
I modified some of the gnome keyboard short cuts and was trying to disable the "Run Application" command. In the process I assigned it to the delete key and every time I hit delete the "Run Application" window comes up.
It would not normally be a problem but the "Keyboard Shortcuts" no long has the short cut in the window so I can't disable it.
Any help advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Ben
"The identity range managed by replication is full and must be updated by a replication agent."
This has started happening. We recently broke replication on purpose and don't plan to re-establish the replication.
What else do I need to do to fix this error? Does anyone have any advice for me?
I'm looking for a web hosting to my iPhone app.
My needs are as following:
* PHP5
* MySQL5
* curl
* shared SSL
* CRON
* Fast support
* Money back
What do you think about those 2: IX Web Hosting and HostGator?
Do you recommend working with one of them?
I appreciate any advice.
Thanks
I've build a small miniITX system with Pentium 4 processor. It works fine but there's extremely hot temperature is shown by the CPU sensor, around 120 C. Of course this is causing the fan run extremely fast as well making the whole system very loud.
I tried to touch the CPU radiator but it is very cool so this should be some kind of error. Could you please give me an advice on how to troubleshoot this?
Can I still use Revo Uninstaller with Windows 7 64-bit? I saw on the Revo site that this is not necessarily supported, so I don't want to have it messing with my registry without getting some advice first. If not Revo, what is the best way to uninstall in Windows 7?
Direct shot to foot moment...
While setting-up individual non-admin accts for MSSQLSERVER services, I temporarily set Server service login to Local System account.
I remembered later that:
SQL Server Configuration Manager performs additional configuration such as setting permissions in the Windows Registry so that the new account can read the SQL Server settings.
I want my Local System back . (Actually just restored to its original security profile)
Any advice? Thanks!
I have been forced to move from a
Centos Dom0
xen 3
Centos + Ubuntu Lucid DomUs
To
Debian Wheezy Dom0
Xen 4
Ubuntu Lucid DomUs
However although I can create new DomUs on wheezy I cannot get them to boot.
pygrub returns Error: Bootloader didn't return any data
I have ensured that the disks are the correct way around in the xen.cfg and also that the grub config is correct.
If I try to run pygrub manually
eg
/usr/bin/pygrub /dev/volgroup/disk
I get
Illegal instruction
can anyone offer me any advice on this?
Thanks
Matt
SQL Server 2008 does not install DMO by default. Is there a function or script I can use from the command prompt to check remote servers to see if DMO has already been installed? We were using a registry key check but thought that might not be the best option. Any advice is appreciated!
Are they any method to protect video files with password, so player will ask for the pasword before playback?
Currently I am protecting private video files using zip compression with password but it is very inconvenient. I am forced to uncompress huge files each time before watching, and than erase it using special utilities (to avoid further restoring).
Please advice.
Hi,
I have made a small web application created in J2EE which i want to develop as a "business".

iCal uses a built in script file to email reminders through Mail.app. It works great, but I don't use Mail.app for my main email account, just for sending calendar notifications.
So, Mail.app opens and sends the alert, but then it stays open.
I've tried to edit the applescript file to make it quit Mail, but that doesn't seem to work.
Can anyone offer some advice?
Thanks :-)
Over the years I used Pine off and on, especially i college
How can I setup Pine to POP down my mail so it is local on my machine? I dont like storing my mail on a server someplace, I like to have it local so I can back it up,etc
Anyone have any advice?
Give me advice, please.
My situation:
There're the server HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 and MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i RAID Controller.
I installed Controller into server and I reconnected Mini-SAS cord from block of hard drives to controller, but I haven't any indication of hard discs on server front panel.
There's indication of activity of drives only during boot of server.
Controller has 2-pin connector (JT6B3, SAS Activity LED header) but where and how can I connect it?
Thanx.
I'm building a fileserver for my small office. We do film and multimedia design. Only 3 clients connected. The server is primarily for local access to graphic assets and video files. I'm looking for advice on hardware and software required. Particularly for the RAID. I have the following objectives:
A) merged capacity
I'd like all other systems to access the data as a single mapped network drive that has an initial capacity of 10 TB. So perhaps 5x 2TB drives (plus mirror drives for redundancy).
B) easy way to increase capacity
Thinking long term, I'd like to 'easily' add more drives to the array for a potential two or three fold increase in capacity. So theoretically it could get upto a 30 TB raid array consisting of maybe 15x 2 TB drives of capacity (plus mirror drives for redundancy).
C) maximum fault tolerance
I want at least 1 mirror drive per capacity drive (in laymen's terms). So if I start with 10 TB / 5x 2TB of capacity, I suppose I would need another another 5x 2TB drives to be mirrors. So 10 drives total. But I'd also like potential for even more redundancy; with upto 2 additional mirrors per 'capacity drive' (and to be able to add them to the array anytime with ease).
D) easy way to monitor drive health
I'd like an intuitive interface for managing the raid and monitoring drive health
The other systems accessing this network drive will be running Windows, but also the odd Ubuntu and MacOS system as well.
Are these objectives attainable? What type of RAID setup do you recommend? What hardware will be required?
Also what OS do you think this system should be running? Does it really matter? I'm no network admin - just a long time Windoze user, without much Linux experience. That said, I'm not opposed to a Linux solution if it's easy enough and more practical than a Windows OS for this server. Or maybe something such as Openfiler.
Budget should hit the sweet spot for value and performance (hence my preference to use 2TB drives). The biggest focus is storage; aside from that the system just needs to keep the drives running optimally with perhaps 2 or 3 clients accessing / writing files at any given time. The hardware quote would start with something like 10x 2TB WD Caviar Blacks; about $1900 for the storage + $x for remaining parts.

Hi,
I have a Ubuntu 64-bit 10.04 LTS box running Virtualmin and Apache2, fully updated. It's an ESX VM with 2GB RAM.
There are currently two sites (one CMS and one Wordpress 3) running on the server and both have the same issue. The request takes about 5s and then the page loads.
This behaving seems to be the case with all page loads.
I'm looking for advice on where to start troubleshooting.
Thanks,
Sean

Let us say I have two subdomains: http://content.mydomain.com and http://app.mydomain.com.
http://content.mydomain.com is pointing at a different server than http://app.mydomain.com is. Is there a way to get a url of http://app.domain/content to point to http://content.mydomain.com without the url in the browser changing to the subdomain?
I am trying to get this to work in IIS 7 / 6 and am having issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
We just migrated our email system to Google Apps. Many users still prefer to use Outlook and we're quite happy with the new Sync Tool from Google.
Legally wise, is it necessary to have Client Access License for each user ?
Thanks for your advice.
I have been using Firefox for long time. Recently i had switched to chrome to find that its much faster than Firefox, but addons like greasemonkey, adblock plus, tweeterfox etc. keeps me wanting to use Firefox. Now I am confused between which of the two to use.
Can someone provide some advice on how to be as productive in Chrome as when using FireFox?
I'm trying to figure out the differences(pros/cons) between two routing protocols approach and I would be great-full for any help, advice and explanation. As far I can say that it seems like distance vector is more static and more local based routing, since it doesn't know the network state whereas link state is more aware of current states therefore it seems more natural to use it over distance-vector, but I have a feeling like I'm missing something. And I would be glad to here about more aspects and different issues I have to consider while choosing one of them.
For a new system administrator it is important to learn from those that have experience.
What is the thing you know now you wish you knew when you first started?
Alternately, what is the piece of advice you would give to a new system administrator?
