• PHP/Codeigniter FTP Timout

  I'm trying to access an FTP server from my PHP script using Codeigniter's FTP Library. These functions work great, but when testing the script I discovered that if I attempt to connect to a server that does not exist, the script does not terminate with an error message of any kind. The page continues to execute, until the web server gives up, returning an empty document. So I am wondering, is there a way to limit the amount of time that Codeigniter can try to connect to an FTP server, then display a message if that times out? I tried using the php function set_time_limit(), but it does not behave how I expected it to. Thanks for your help.

• Events not registering after replaceWith

  When I replaceWith an element to bring one out of the DOM, then replaceWith it back in, events registered to it do not fire. I need to events to remain intact. Here's my Javascript: var replacement = $(document.createElement('span')); var original = $(this).replaceWith(replacement); replacement .css('background-color', 'green') .text('replacement for ' + $(this).text()) .click(function() { replacement.replaceWith(original); }); Live demo In the demo, when you click an element, it is replaced with another element using replaceWith. When you click the new element, that is replaced with the original element using replaceWith. However, the click handler does not work any more (where I would think it should).

  Hi, I want to plot several markers on my map. Found some code on the internet, for that user it worked.   I'm using this function to create an transparent overlay of information over the current div for a web-based mobile app. Background: using jQTouch, so I have separate divs, not individual pages loading new. $(document).ready(function() { $('.infoBtn').click(function() { $('#overlay').toggleFade(400); return false; }); }); Understanding that JS will run sequentially when i click the button on the first div the function works fine. When I go to the next div if I click the same button nothing "happens" when this div is displayed, but if i go back to the first div it has actually triggered it on this page. So I logically duplicated the function and changed the CSS selector names and it works for both. But do I have to do this for each use? Is there a way to use the same selectors, but load the different content in each variation?

• whats the point of using template?

  I am under the impression that if I set it as a template in Dreamweaver, any changes made should be saved to a new filename. I've copied the "template" that I made and sometimes I forget to save it as a different file name and it would overwrite previous web content. I just don't get the point of "save as template" if it works just like a document... it doesn't force me to save as a different filename. Common sense in me thinks that the software should evaluate like this, "if this is a template, always save as a different filename when it's modified so nothing is changed to the template, but rather a new file is created with the new content following that template." Am I missing something? Am I always doomed to using Save As...?

• XMLHttpRequest cross site scripting on same server but differnt port

  hello, using XMLHttpRequest it is not possible to open a connection to a document on a different domain than where the page itself is hosted. but what about different ports? for example i have a webserver running on my machine listening on port 80 so the webaddress would look like this: http://localhost:80/mypage.html and i have another webserver running on localhost which is meant to process the ajax requests but listens on a different port. so the javascript in mypage.html would look like this: var xmlhttprequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET", "http://localhost:1234/?parameters", true); xmlhttp.send(); would this work? or will it give a security exception as well?

• Are MongoDB and CouchDB perfect substitutes?

  I haven't got my hands dirty yet with neither CouchDB nor MongoDB but I would like to do so soon... I also have read a bit about both systems and it looks to me like they cover the same cases... Or am I missing a key distinguishing feature? I would like to use a document based storage instead of a traditional RDBMS in my next project. I also need the datastore to handle large binary objects (images and videos) automatically replicate itself to physically separate nodes rendering the need of an additional RDBMS superfluous Are both equally well suited for these requirements? So basically I don't want the "module" that is hovered to get the class, I want it to do exactly what I am showing here...sliding .caption up and down on end hover, I just want all other ".caption"s to get the under class when any ".module" is hovered. Just hitting a dead end with what I have been trying, want to do it in the same function. Any ideas?

  I am trying to iterate through my xml document's nodes to get the value for <username>Ed</username> in each node. I am using Linq to sort the XDocument first, then attempting to loop through the nodes. I can't seem to find the correct foreach loop to achieve this. • jquery mouseleave issue when moving too slow

  Hello. I am using the jQuery mouseenter and mouseleave events to slide a div down and up. Everything works well except for the mouseleave which doesn't appear to fire ONLY if the mouse of moved off of the div quite slowly. If i move the mouse at a relatively normal or fast speed then it works as expected. Can anyone explain this or provide any info on how to get around this?   Hi guys, I'm using the H1 tag in my document as the main title, as you do. The text in the H1 is the title of the company, which needs to be shown on every page. I'm using the H2 tag for the title of the main content on each page. So the H1 is the same on every page, and the H2 changes. I know that a lot of sites use the H1 to do what I'm doing with the H2, am I losing out by not doing this? I know that semantically I can't make the H1 into a H2 and vice versa, so I'm wondering what the best option is. Does it matter that my H1 is always the same? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!   Hi. In a MySQL database I have documents of different type: some have text content, meta keys, descriptions, others have code, SKU number, size and brand name and so on. The problem is, I have to search something in all of these documents and then display a single page, where the results will be grouped by the document type, such as help page, blog post, item... It's not clear for me how to implement the Sphinx index: I want to have a single index to speed up queries, but since different docs have different structure - how can I group them? I was thinking about just concatenating them, but it just doesn't feel right.

  Hi, I need to know what can be the main reasons (apart from the basics like grouping CSS selectors, reducing image size, using image sprite etc.) which makes a website slow on Internet Explorer, because my website works fine on the others like FF, chrome etc. Is it the huge use of Javascript framework (ie. jQuery, extjs, prototype)? Is it because of the use of plugins based on JS framework? Should I use core javascript and remove the use of any js framework? Should I try to avoid using jQuery(document).ready()? in case of jQuery framework? Above some of the questions which I know and please answer the questions which I couldn't ask because of lesser knowledge about these. I need to make my website perform well on IE (6,7,8) also please suggest. Thanks
