  • I can't find my custom TextBox control in Visual Studio

    - by Gold
Hi, I'm creating a custom WinForms TextBox control, like this: class MyTest : TextBox { protected override void OnEnter(EventArgs e) { this.BackColor = Color.Yellow; } protected override void OnLeave(EventArgs e) { this.BackColor = Color.White; } } When I build the project, I cannot see the control. Can anyone explain why not? Thanks in advance.

  • Compressing an uncompressed MSI file

    - by Noam Gal
We have a setup project that produces an uncompressed MSI file and no Setup.exe at all, to be later compressed by NSIS. In a special build setting, I want to copy that MSI before it's being wrapped by NSIS, change the copy, and keep it. I would also like to compress it, after it has been created by the msbuild. Is there a simple way (command line tool of some kind, maybe?) I can use to just compress an already created msi file?

  • Website stress test in Python - Django

    - by RadiantHex
Hi folks, I'm trying to build a small stress test script to test how quickly a set of requests gets done. Need to measure speed for 100 requests. Problem is that I wouldn't know how to implement it, as it would require parallel url requests to be called. Any ideas?

  • Convert Existing Eclipse Project to Maven Project

    - by Tom G
For a project at work, we're considering using the Maven plugin for Eclipse to automate our builds. Right now the procedure is far more complicated than it ought to be, and we're hoping that Maven will simplify things to a one-click build. My question is, is there a wizard or automatic importer for converting an existing Eclipse Java project to a Maven project, using the Maven plugin? Or should I create a new Maven project and manually copy over all source files, libs, etc.

  • Restart of Master Postgres DB with unconsumed Wal files

    - by Douglas Sellers
We have a situation where walmanager is being used to ship wal files between a master and a slave Postgres database. The slave machine has failed and has had to have been rebuilt. This has caused a lot of unconsumed wal files to build up on the master. If a reboot is issued to the Postgres master, and there are 24 hours worth of unconsumed wal files hanging around, will the master be effected at all or will it start clean?

  • Translate COM error codes in C#

    - by Paul Keister
In C, Pascal, and C++ it is possible to use the FormatMessage function to retrieve a "friendly" error message that corresponds to a COM HRESULT error code. This question contains sample code that demonstrates the C++ approach. Of course it would be possible to build a managed C++ assembly to perform this function for C# and VB.NET code, but I'm wondering: is there a way to translate COM error codes using the .NET system libraries?

    - by subbu
I am using VS2008 C# and testing on my local XP Pro PC with local IIS, I have wrote a web service to call a third party software .exe file to use svn checkout commands to insert data into a folder, which use System.Diagnostics.Process.Start . The same codes did work when I use VS2008 build-in ASP.NET Development Server(http://localhost:2999/MyServices/MyServices.asmx). but when I use IIS normal URL(http://developer/MyServices/MyServices.asmx) to run Process.Start on the web service, it just haunlted and not doing anything.plz send one sample program.

  • Productivity research material

    - by Rune FS
While debating which platform to use for what applications (specifically we debated c++, java, c# and f#) we tried finding scientific quality research on productivity (cost of ownership really) of similar applications build on various platforms/using the above mentioned languages. Any one know of such research?

  • ASP.NET sets of technologies/components

    - by Maxim Gueivandov
Just a question of pure curiosity. It happens that development teams tend to stick to the same technological set(s) for some time, for various reasons (obviously, the lack of time, money, necessity and/or willingless to adopt new technologies). So, what are your usual sets of technologies/components to build an ASP.NET application (e.g., WebForms / MVC, Automapper, NInject, NHibernate / LinqToSql, JQuery / ASP.NET Ajax, ...) or architectural frameworks (Arch#, Catharsis, ...) and in which context do you use them (site size, speed/availability requirements, etc.)?

  • Problem with building OpenCV for Python 2.6

    - by si14
I've just downloaded OpenCV's trunk and now I'm trying to build it with MinGW. I read the manual and get .dll's compiled, but that's all - "interfaces/python" contains only some .i and .cmake files. How can I really get new python interface? Where I can find new cv.pyd/libcv.dll.a (because a compiled version from official site crashes sometimes and I saw this bug as "fixed" in Trac)?

  • #ifdef with gfortran 77

    - by ccook
I am using gfortran to compile FORTRAN 77 and would like to have DEBUG build options by using the preprocessor directive #ifdef. However, when I use them I get compile time warnings "Illegal preprocessor directive". Is it possible to have this functionality without deviating from the standard toolchain?

  • Dynamic pages and controls with Asp .NET

    - by Abhilash
Hi, We are starting with the design of an ASP .NET Web UI using WCSF as the UI FW. We are evaluating some FW which will allow us to build dynamic pages, dynamic as in, deciding at runtime what user controls will be displayed and in what order. Also possibly, the pages and order in which they will be displayed. We are looking at Page Flow Application Block, but there's limited documentation around it, we were interested in knowing what other options could be considered. Thanks for your help guys...

  • Should I invest time in learning about OR\M or LINQ?

    - by Peter Smith
I'm a .NET web developer primarily who occasionally writes console applications to mine data, cleanup tasks, etc. Most of what I do winds up involving a database which I currently design via sql server management studio, using stored procedures, and query analyzer. I also create a lot of web services which are consumed via AJAX applications. Do these technologies really help you in speeding up development times? Do you still have to build the database or object code first?
