• Load dll's from Environment Variable Path from a service

  We install Matlab Runtime on a machine, then we restart a .net windows service that invokes methods from the Matlab Runtime. The problem is that we receive TypeInitializationException errors until we restart windows. We think this happens because Environment Variables are not changed on services until restart and Matlab uses the %Path% variable to reference it's core DLL's. My question is, do you think I can change the %Path% variable so that Matlab will use it when referencing the core dll's for it's engine? Or is it possible to add a directory to the runtime DLL loading mechanism of .NET so that those Matlab core dll's would be referenced correctly without restarting the machine? The map is not showed, while other pages containing scripts, loaded in the same way, are correctly shown. Is this a specific issue about GMaps, that doesn't allow to be loaded via an ajax request?   I have been expeirmenting with Watir, Nokogir and Hpricot. All of these use top-down approach which is my problem. i.e. they use element type to search element. I want to find out the element using the text without knowing element type. e.g. <element1> <element2> Text2 </element2> <element3> Text3 </element3> text4 </element1> I want is to get element2 and element1 etc by searching for Text2 and Text3. Please note that I do not know if elements are divs or tr/tds or links etc. I just know the text. Algorithem should be something like : iterated through all the elements, match inner text, if match get me the element and the parent element. Let me kow if this is possible in any way?

• Problem with non blocking fifo in bash

  Hi! I'm running a few Team Fortress 2 servers and I want to write a little management script. Basically the TF2 servers are a fg process which provides a server console, so I can start the server, type status and get an answer from it: ***@purple:~/tf2$ ./start_server_testing Auto detecting CPU Using AMD Optimised binary. VAC secure mode is activated. status hostname: Team Fortress version : 1.0.6.1/15 3883 secure udp/ip : ***.***.133.31:27600 map : ctf_2fort at: 0 x, 0 y, 0 z players : 0 (2 max) # userid name uniqueid connected ping loss state adr Great, now I want to create a script which sends the command sm_reloadadmins to all my servers. The best way I found to do this is using a fifo named pipe. Now what I want to do is having this pipe readonly and non blocking to the server process, so I can write into the pipe and the server executes it, but still I want to write via console one the server, so if I switch back to the fg process of the server and I type status I want an answer printed. I tried this (assuming serverfifo is mkfifo serverfifo): ./start_server_testing < serverfifo Not working, the server won't start until something is written to the pipe. ./start_server_testing <> serverfifo Thats actually working pretty good, I can see the console output of the server and I can write to the fifo and the server executes the commands, but I can't write via console to the server anymore. Also, if I write 'exit' to the pipe (which should end the server) and I'm running it in a screen the screen window is getting killed for some reason (wtf why?). I only need the server to read the fifo without blocking AND all my keyboard input on the server itself should be send to the server AND all server ouput should be written to the console. Is that possible? If yes, how?

  I have this xml: <root> <fruitlist> <apple>4</apple> <apple>5</apple> <orange>2</orange> <orange>6</orange> </fruitlist> </root> I'm writing a parser class, although I can't figure out how to deal with multiple node types. I can easily parse a list that contains only one node type (eg. just apples, not oranges) @ElementList(name = "fruitlist") private List<Apple> exercises; with more than one node type it also wants so parse non Apple nodes which doesn't work. I also tried to make another list for oranges, but it doen't work, I can't use fruitlist name more than once. @ElementList(name = "fruitlist", entry = "orange") private List<Orange> exercises; The ideal would be two seperate list for both node types.   Hi. I am having a problem. I embed WMP in my page, and I need to hide buttons from player. I make it to hide them in IE and FF, but I can't make it happen in Google Chrome. • What is the best way to send structs containing enum values via sockets in C.

  I've lots of different structs containing enum members that I have to transmit via TCP/IP. While the communication endpoints are on different operating systems (Windows XP and Linux) meaning different compilers (gcc 4.x.x and MSVC 2008) both program parts share the same header files with type declarations. For performance reasons, the structures should be transmitted directly (see code sample below) without expensively serializing or streaming the members inside. So the question is how to ensure that both compilers use the same internal memory representation for the enumeration members (i.e. both use 32-bit unsigned integers). • How to let the user choose between typing price inclusive VAT or exclusive VAT in TextField?

  I am implementing an back-office application where the user type in prices for products. Sometimes it is preferred to type the price inclusive value-added-tax, VAT and sometimes exclusive VAT. How do I best let the user choose between the inclusive or exclusive VAT in a usability perspective? I could have two TextFields above eachother one inclusive VAT and one exclusive, and reflect the input. But I don't think that reflecting the input in another TextField at realtime is good when it comes to usability, it distracts the user. I could also have two Radiobuttons above the TextField or below, or maybe besides the TextField that let the user make the choice. Or should I have a single button for turning between inclusive/exclusive VAT? like On/Off-buttons. But what text should I have on the button and how should the button be designed? I think this is good because it takes less space and it is easy to have it close to the TextField, but it's very hard to design a good button in a usability perspective. Please give me some recommendations. Maybe someone of you works with usability or have seen a similar problem.

• Winform User Settings - Allow multiple choice values at Runtime

  I created a simple User Settings Dialog by binding the Property.Settings to a PropertyGrid. This works like a charm but now I would like to allow only certain choices for some values. I have noticed that some Types will give a dropdown of possible choices. This is what I am shooting for but for, say, Strings. Example, one of the Settings is UserTheme which is a String. Black, Blue, Silver. The program reads that string from the Settings File and sets the Theme on Startup. I can type in a correct theme and it works but if I type in Pink it will not as there is not a pink option. • Why can't I use WCF DataContract and ISerializable on the same class?

  Hi all, I have a class that I need to be able to serialize to a SQLServer session variable and be available over a WCF Service. "System.Runtime.Serialization.InvalidDataContractException: Type 'BarProxybcb100e8617f40ceaa832fe4bb94533c' cannot be ISerializable and have DataContractAttribute attribute." If I take out the Serializable attribute, the WCF service works, but when the object can't be serialized to session. If I remove the DataContract attribute from class Bar, the WCF service fails saying Type 'BarProxy3bb05a31167f4ba492909ec941a54533' with data contract name 'BarProxy3bb05a31167f4ba492909ec941a54533:http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/' is not expected. Add any types not known statically to the list of known types - for example, by using the KnownTypeAttribute attribute or by adding them to the list of known types passed to DataContractSerializer I've tried adding a KnownType attribute to the foo class [KnownType(typeof(Bar))] But I still get the same error. • jqGrid - edit function never getting called

  I'm having a problem with JQGrid using ASP.NET MVC. I'm trying to follow this example (after you go to that link, over on the left side of the page please click Live Data Manipulation, then Edit Row), but my edit function is never getting called (i.e. it's never getting into the $("#bedata").click(function().   In my most recent question: Unit Testing Best Practice? / C# InternalsVisibleTo() attribute for VBNET 2.0 while testing?, I was asking about InternalsVisibleToAttribute. I have read the documentation on how to use it, and everything is fine and understood. However, I can't instantiate my class Groupe from my Testing project. I want to be able to instantiate my internal class in my wrapper assembly, from my testing assembly. Any help is appreciated!   I'm using xslt to transform xml to an aspx file. In the xslt, I have a script tag to include a jquery.js file. To get it to work with IE, the script tag must have an explicit closing tag.   I have an ASP.Net/AJAX control kit project that i am working on. 80% of the time there is no problem. The page runs as it should. If you refresh the page it will sometimes show a javascript error "Sys is undefined". It doesn't happen all the time, but it is reproducible. When it happens, the user has to shut down their browser and reopen the page. This leads me to believe that it could be an IIS setting. Another note. I looked at the page source both when I get the error, and when not. • Using Lambda Expressions trees with IEnumerable

  I've been trying to learn more about using Lamba expression trees and so I created a simple example. Here is the code, this works in LINQPad if pasted in as a C# program. void Main() { IEnumerable<User> list = GetUsers().Where(NameContains("a")); list.Dump("Users"); } // Methods public IEnumerable<User> GetUsers() { yield return new User{Name = "andrew"}; yield return new User{Name = "rob"}; yield return new User{Name = "chris"}; yield return new User{Name = "ryan"}; } public Expression<Func<User, bool>> NameContains(string namePart) { return u => u.Name.Contains(namePart); } // Classes public class User { public string Name { get; set; } } This results in the following error: The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Enumerable.Where(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable, System.Func)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly. However if I just substitute the first line in main with this: IEnumerable<User> list = GetUsers().Where(u => u.Name.Contains("a")); It works fine. Can tell me what I'm doing wrong, please?

In Chrome, it clears up whole page and there is only the called reCaptcha script working like a charm. Any ideas?

  I have the following code: Public Shared Function GetAvailableManufacturers() As List(Of Manufacturer) 'first get all the live orders and extract their mfrs' Dim sos As List(Of OrderForm) = GetFormsByStatus(StockStatus.Building) Dim unavailableMfrs As New List(Of Manufacturer) For Each so As StockingOrder In sos unavailableMfrs.Add(so.Source) Next 'then remove all mfrs with an open SO from a list of all mfrs' Dim allMfrs As List(Of Manufacturer) = Manufacturer.GetManufacturers Return allMfrs.Except(unavailableMfrs) <----- error here End Function Explanation of what the above does: GetFormsByStatus() self-explanatory GetManufacturers() returns a list of all manufacturers in the database My idea to get available manufacturers was to get a list of all the manufacturers in my open forms, then get a list of all manufacturers and exclude all the manufacturers in the first list, illustrated like so (pseudo): List A: {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10} List B: {5,7,10} Result: {1,2,3,4,6,8,9} I have set up my Manufacturer class according to this article so that it can be compared, but I'm still getting this error: Unable to cast object of type '<ExceptIterator>d__92'1[csCore.Manufacturer]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.List'1[csCore.Manufacturer]'. I thought at first that because during testing GetFormsByStatus() returns 0 results maybe that was causing problems, but it doesn't make sense that Except() wouldn't work if the provided list had 0 items. Can anyone spot what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much!

• Environment variable in xcconfig won't expand in Settings.bundle/Root.plist

  I have defined my own environment variable in a .xcconfig file and based my configurations on that as described at http://www.silverchairsolutions.com/blog/2008/03/automating-cocoa-deployments-with-sparkle-and-xcode. My environment variable is indeed expanded in Info.plist but not in my Settings.bundle/Root.plist. Why won't it expand there?
