  • grayscaling images and refering the original image back.

    I know how to grayscale an image. I am using jquery accordion and I have images on every accordion header. I want to change the image to grayscale when the accordion is active and change the image back to its original form when the accordion is not active. I am using the event accordionChange. The problem is that I am not able to save the original image. Please help. Also after grayscaling I tried to give the original src directly as document.getElementById("imgId").src = "images/pic.jpg"; This is not working.

  • The Function Works But Reports this.refresh() is not a function

    I get this.refresh() is not a function in the error log every time I use this function but it works fine. Also, when I click on this function for the first time, this.value=undefined. When I click the function again in this form and every other form, the value populates just fine with the previous value. What could I be doing wrong? How do I write this function more efficiently? I still don't quite understand how to use this.value to capture and store a value within an array.   • HTML, jQuery Suggestion for a List

    Hello, I'm creating an app that will have a list of messages, each message can be either read or unread. Think GMAIL (though I'm not trying to rebuild that)... My question is when I output all these messages, I need to list if the message is read or unread, I also need to provide the ability to change the message status, from read to unread. That being said, how do you suggest I stored this? A checkbox, a hidden input value? Any thoughts? Thanks

  • Load local Html file doesn't refer the js file in UIWebView

    I am working with UIWebView project and I want to load an HTML file from a project resource. It is working fine when I run from the URL, but when I view the HTML file locally, JS files are not loaded. Loading the local HTML local file doesn't refer to js files in UIWebView.   • Heroku "We're sorry, but something went wrong." due to javascript_include_tag

    Uploading my ruby on rails app to heroku causes the following error: We're sorry, but something went wrong. This does not occur on my local machine. After some debugging, I think I may have spotted the error, but do not know how to fix it. In my file application.html.erb, removing the following line solves the problem, but then my app loses its jquery mobile theme. Any ideas what I could do to fix the problem?     I want to get the .next() and .prev() sibling of an HTML element without excluding TextNodes. I basically need to understand if an element is directly sorrounded by <br> HTML elements. This would return true: <br> <div></div> <br> This would return false: <br> Some text <div></div> <br> BUT this needs to also return true: <br> <div></div> <br> The third example basically uses an empty TextNode, or blankspaces, or newlines. What's the best way to do this?

  • Building an array out of values from another array

    This is a follow up from a question of mine that was just answered concerning parsing numbers in an array. I have an array, data[], with numbers that I'd like to use in a calculation and then put the resulting values into another array. So say data[0] = 100. I'd like to find a percentage using the calculatin, (data[0]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2) where dataSum is the sum of all the numbers in data[]. I've tried: dataPercentage = []; for (var i=0; i < data.length; i++) { data[i] = parseFloat(data[i]); dataSum += data[i]; // looping through data[i] and setting it equal to dataPercentage. dataPercentage[] = (data[i]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2); // thought maybe I was overriding dataPercentage everytime I looped? dataPercentage[] += (data[i]/dataSum*100).toFixed(2); } I also tried just setting dataPercentage = [(data/dataSum*100).toFixed(2)], but I think this creates a nested array, which I don't think is what I need.

  • How reference popup object when opener page changes?

    This is driving me crazy! Scenario: The main page opens a pop-up window and later calls a function in it: newWin = window.open(someurl,'newWin',options); ...some code later... newWin.remoteFunction(options); and it's ok. Now, popup is still open and Main Page changes to Page 2. In Page 2 newWin doesn't exist anymore and I need to recreate the popup window object reference in order to call again the remote function (newWin.remoteFunction) I tried something like: newWin = open('','newWin', options); if (!newWin || newWin.closed || !newWin.remoteFunction) { newWin = window.open(someurl,'newWin',options); } And it works, I can call newWin.remoteFunction again BUT Safari for some reason gives Focus() to the popup window everytime the open() method is called breaking the navigation (I absolutely need the popup working in the background). Only workaround I can think to solve this is to create an interval in the popup with: if(window.opener && !window.opener.newWin) window.opener.newWin = self; and then set another interval in the opener Page with some try/catch but it is inelegant and very inefficient. so, I wonder, it's really so hard to get the popup object reference between different pages in the opener window?

However they are blocked by adblock plus and other adblockers. Considering that nowaday 30% of internet users use an adblocker I thought of making a work around for those. I integrated manual sharing buttons into my website. So far so good. Do you have any idea on how to hide my manual sharing buttons if the addthis buttons are shown. Or better said, don't hide them if the addthis buttons are removed by a addblocker? Is it possible to detect an adblocker through js? thx, I really appreciate your help!

I have the following code $(document).ready(function() { $("#myTextArea").focus(function() { $("#myTextArea").animate({ "height": "75px"}, "normal"); return false; }); to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again?   • Short snippet summarizing a webpage?

    Is there a clean way of grabbing the first few lines of a given link that summarizes that link? I have seen this being done in some online bookmarking applications but have no clue on how they were implemented. For instance, if I give this link, I should be able to get a summary which is roughly like: I'll admit it, I was intimidated by MapReduce. I'd tried to read explanations of it, but even the wonderful Joel Spolsky left me scratching my head. So I plowed ahead trying to build decent pipelines to process massive amounts of data Nothing complex at first sight but grabbing these is the challenging part. Just the first few lines of the actual post should be fine. Should I just use a raw approach of grabbing the entire html and parsing the meta tags or something fancy like that (which obviously and unfortunately is not generalizable to every link out there) or is there a smarter way to achieve this? Any suggestions? Update: I just found InstaPaper do this but am not sure if it is getting the information from RSS feeds or some other way.
