• Office 365 Powershell - Export user, license type, and company field to csv file

  I need to be able to export user name or email address (doesn't matter which), company (from the company field under the organization tab in a user account of the exchange admin console), and license type (e.g. exchange online e1, exchange online kiosk etc...) I am able to export both values in two statements into two separate files but that doesn't do me much good. I can export the username and license type with the following: Get-MSOLUser | % { $user=$_; $_.Licenses | Select {$user.displayname},AccountSKuid } | Export-CSV "sample.csv" -NoTypeInformation And, I can get the company values with the following: Get-User | select company | Export-CSV sample.csv Someone on another forum suggested this - $index = @{} Get-User | foreach-object {$index.Add($_.userprincipalname,$_.company)} Get-MsolUser | ForEach-Object { write-host $_.userprincipalname, $index[$_.userprincipalname], $_.licenses.AccountSku.Skupartnumber} That seems like it should work but it doesn't display any license info in my powershell, it's just blank. Also I wouldn't know how to export that to a csv file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Access internal IP using public IP

  Hi, I have a DSL modem with a public IP address (201.206.x.x), and I have a web server in my internal network (192.168.0.50). I set up the modem to forward requests to port 80 to my web server, so, if I access 201.206.x.x from outside my network, it shows my web page, the same happens if I access 192.168.0.50 from a computer inside my network. Now, the problem is when I try to access 201.206.x.x from my internal network, the browser tries to connect to the DSL modem configuration, instead of redirecting my request to my Web server. Which settings do I have to change in the modem to set up this redirection? Thanks!

• apt-get fails to upgrade, install, remove etc

  I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04, had no issues that I noticed. Recently tried to install something via software center, but it was throwing errors. Changed to trying to sudo apt-get install instead but again no luck. I've genuinely tried as much as I know to fix this, but I can't so I figured I'd ask here. I've done sudo apt-get update successfully but sudo apt-get upgrade failed with... You might want to run ‘apt-get -f install’ to correct these. • Sync Your Windows Computer with Your Ubuntu One Account [Desktop Client]

  Do you have a Windows computer that needs to be synced with the Ubuntu systems connected to your Ubuntu One account? Not a problem. Just grab a copy of the Ubuntu One Desktop Client and in just a few minutes your Windows system will be feeling the Ubuntu love. Once you get the desktop client installed you will see a new System Tray Icon waiting for you. Access the Context Menu and select Add this computer to start the syncing process. Enter your account details into the login window that appears and click Connect to Ubuntu One. Go back to the System Tray Icon, access the Context Menu, and select Synchronize Now. You can monitor the progress as small desktop notification messages keep you updated during the synchronizing process. The newly synchronized files will be placed in an Ubuntu One Folder under Documents/My Documents. Here is a quick peek at the Preferences Window. The only odd thing (bug) that we noticed with the whole setup was “Disconnected” being displayed even though our system was freshly synchronized and logged in.   For a generic filter to exclude all traffic in my dump that is between private IP address, I came up with the following: sudo tcpdump -n ' (not ( (src net 172.16.0.0/20 or src net 10.0.0.0/8 or src net 192.168.0.0/16) and (dst net 172.16.0.0/20 or dst net 10.0.0.0/8 or dst net 192.168.0.0/16) ) ) and (not ( (dst net 172.16.0.0/20 or dst net 10.0.0.0/8 or dst net 192.168.0.0/16) and (src net 172.16.0.0/20 or src net 10.0.0.0/8 or src net 192.168.0.0/16) ) )' -w test2.dump Seems pretty excessive, but it also seems to work, is this filter a lot longer than it needs to be and there is better way to express this logic, or is there anything wrong with the filter?

  I have a Draytek Vigor 2820 router which is connected to our ADSL provider (British Telecom, BT). We currently have one static IP address which is accessible from anywhere outside of our network and points at a simple web server on port 80. We have just been given 5 more static IP addresses which I would like to point at five servers that have static IP's. As an example: Current static IP - 80.123.123.123 New Static IP's - 100.100.100.100-105 Server IP's - 192.168.1.129-133 I have confused myself completely between NAT addresses, static routes and WAN IP aliases. If anyone can give me a clear idea of what I need to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Clients will be Computers/Android Tablets/IPAD In order for communication between client and local server 1) need to assign a static IP to local server. 2) need a domian name mapping for that IP address in Local environment. 3) router should assign the same static IP if it gets restarted etc. I am using a windows XP machine as Local server OS. Do i need to take care of router configurations before buying one, or all routers will have same capability to perform this task.   Simple for those who know, indecipherable for those who don't... I'm running openVPN on (hypothetical) 66.66.66.66, I want to FORWARD incoming traffic, arriving on interface eth0 to interface tun0. It would also be nice to filter - based on destination IP address. I'm doing the NAT later on, but like to lock down early wherever possible. So onto the main course... This works: #Enable forwarding from eth0 to tun0 iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o tun+ -j ACCEPT But this doesn't pass any packets whatsoever: #Stricter version iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o tun+ --dst 66.66.66.66 -j ACCEPT Am I being unacceptably foolish?

• Oracle Installation issue on Oracle Linux 6.4

  I am trying to install Oracle 11g(11.2.0.1.0) on Oracle Linux 6.4(Remote Server). I get the following error(s) when Database Configuration Assistant is running ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated Disconnection forced ORA-48210: Relation Not Found Can someone help me regarding this errors, I cant seem to find what exactly that I have to do to solve this issue. I have done the same install on Oracle Linux 5.7 but never faced this issue before. The only problem while installing(which happens on 5.7 too) is that the required packages fail, but upon checking, it seems much higher versions are already installed. Also I cant do a yum update because the system seems to have connectivity issues with public-yum.oracle.com as I cant ping it(even though the IP Address gets resolved)

• Wamp virtualhost with supporting of remote access

  To cut the long story short, I've setup a Wamp server with local virtual host for domain like sample.dev, now I've bind my static IP and port 80 to my Apache and asked the client to make some changes in his hosts file and add x.x.x.x sample.dev , I've also configured my httpd virtual host like this : <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAlias sample.dev DocumentRoot 'webroot_directory' </VirtualHost> Client can reach to my web server using the direct access by ip address, but when he tries using the sample domain looks like he gets in to some infinite loop. The firewall is off too. What would be the problem?! Thanks.

• Dual booting 12.10 and Win 7 - boots directly to Win 7

I'll preface this with saying that I realize this is a common problem, with lots of trouble-shooting guides available online; however, after multiple attempts with different guides, I've made zero progress and am hoping to someone could help me with my specific scenario. First, my story: -Initially, I installed Ubuntu 12.10 with the "Something Else" option with no problems. Used 4 GB Swap Logical Partition, 26 GB Primary Root Partition. Wanting to trying out Mint 13, I booted into Windows from GRUB2, used the latest version of EasyBCD (v2.2) to restore the Windows 7 bootloader to the MBR, deleted the Ubuntu partitions, reformatted them in NTFS. I then created a 30 GB partition of free space for Mint. I installed Mint using the same partitioning described above for Ubuntu 12.10, using /dev/sda for the boot installation files, and everything seemed to go well, until I re-booted my computer and it went straight to Windows - I could find no way to get into Mint. So I went into windows, restored windows bootloader to the MBR w/ EasyBCD, deleted partitions, etc., as I figured I'd done enough messing around and would go with Ubuntu 12.10. Now the problem: I restarted my computer booting from the same Ubuntu USB key I originally used. Briefly, "error: "prefix" is not set" flashed on screen, and instead of being greeted with the GUI menu of "try vs. install Ubuntu", there was a menu with minimal graphics (like a BIOS menu) where I could select install, run from USB, etc. After selecting "Install Ubuntu", the familiar install wizard with a GUI came up, I partitioned my drive as described, /dev/sda for the boot installation files, install went well, rebooted and...straight to Windows. This is where I'm at. Fixes I've tried: -This guide: How can I repair grub? (How to get Ubuntu back after installing Windows?) to ensure Grub is on the MBR. I followed all steps, but still when I reboot, I go directly into Windows. -Installing 12.04 instead of 12.10 - same issue -Re-installed Ubuntu, writing the boot files to their own partition, then using EasyBCD to to add a boot option for Ubuntu using the Windows bootloader, ensuring I instruct EasyBCD to look at the partition I created with the Ubuntu installer (instructions here http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Ubuntu). When I reboot, I select the Ubuntu option, and it puts me in GRUB4DOS, with a cursor waiting for input. I have no idea what to put here, so I would just type "reboot" to exit out. And this is where I am now. Any clue as to why I can't boot into Ubuntu? My computer specs are: ASUS UX31A Core i7, Win 7 64 Pro, 256 GB SSD, Intel HM76 Chipset and Integrated Intel HD 4000 Graphics, 4 GB memory I've tried to be as clear as possible, but I'd be happy to provide any info that would help anyone along.   There is a domain name I want to use for a new business I am starting. It is a perfect fit and I really have my heart set on getting it. Only the .com of the name is registered, and I'm pretty sure the owner has forgotten about the domain. No changes have been made in 3 years, and the WHOIS information is a (almost funny) dead-end Listed email bounces Listed telephone goes to wrong number Listed mailing address physically no longer exists (I looked it up on Google streets, the nearby houses have been demolished and it looks like it's being turned into an apartment complex) Owner name is "D Smith" (do I have to call every D Smith in the region?) My question: Is there any way to track down the owner of a domain besides the WHOIS record?

• Book review: Microsoft System Center Enterprise Suite Unleashed

  I know, I know – what’s a database guy doing reading a book on System Center? Well, I need it from time to time. System Center is actually a collection of about 7 different products that you can use to manage and monitor your software and hardware, from drive space through Microsoft Office, UNIX systems, and yes, SQL Server. It’s that last part I care about the most, and so I’ve dealt with Data Protection Manager and System Center Operations Manager (I call it SCOM) in SQL Server. But I wasn’t familiar with the rest of the suite nor was I as familiar as I needed to be with the “Essentials” release – a separate product that groups together the main features of System Center into a single offering for smaller organizations. These companies usually run with a smaller IT shop, so they sometimes opt for this product to help them monitor everything, including SQL Server. So I picked up “Microsoft System Center Enterprise Suite Unleashed” by Chris Amaris and a cast of others. I don’t normally like to get a technical book by multiple authors – I just find that most of the time it’s quite jarring to switch from author to author, but I think this group did pretty well here.  The first chapter on introducing System Center has helped me talk with others about what the product does, and which pieces fit well together with SQL Server. The writing is well done, and I didn’t find a jump from author to author as I went along. The information is sequential, meaning that they lead you from install to configuration and then use. It’s very much a concepts-and-how-to book, and a big one at that – over 950 pages of learning! It was a pretty quick read, though, since I skipped the installation parts and there are lots of screenshots. While I’m not sure you’d be an expert on the product when you finish reading this book, but I would say you’re more than halfway there. I would say it suits someone that learns through examples the best, since they have a lot of step-by-step examples I do recommend that you take a look if you have to interact with this product, or even if you are a smaller shop and you’re the primary IT resource. • Postfix virtual_alias stealing emails from virutal_mailbox

  I am trying to setup a "catchall" address. In my virtual_mailbox table I have emails setup like so: select * from virtual_users; id | domain_id | password | email ----+-----------+---------------------------------------------- 3 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] 4 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] That works great on its own. When I try to add a virtual alias for the catchall: select * from virtual_aliases; id | domain_id | source | destination ----+-----------+-------------------+--------------------------- 1 | 1 | @domain.com | [email protected] Once I add that virtual_alias, all email is going to catchall and I can send any to [email protected]. Is there something I need to do to shift around the priority? • customErrors="RemoteOnly" not working properly in Server 2008

  It would appear that on my brand new Windows Server 2008 with IIS7, customErrors is not working. We have customErrors set to RemoteOnly in the web.config on our Asp.Net sites and applications. However, no matter what we do, it would appear that our sites act like it's set to On and we can't get any detailed messages showing up on our applications when remoted into our servers. I'm not entirely sure how to trace where this is being overrided, or if there is something in the way the server is configured that would make the server think the request is internal? How does this actually resolve correctly, anyway? Any help is appreciated... Our network admin has added domains to our hosts file to direct applications to the IP address.

• BI Publisher - Hottest Show in Vegas

  Two days down, two to go. Monday was a very busy and rewarding day. Attended "XML Publisher and FSG for Beginners" given by Susan Behn and Alyssa Johnson from Solution Beacon. It was packed, standing room only ... even though it was at 8:00 am. Later in the afternoon, despite being at the same time and in conflict with other Publisher related sessions, Noelle's session, "The Reporting Platform for Applications: Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher" and my session, "Introduction to Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher" were both very well attended. Immediately following our presentations we ran the BI Publisher Hands On Lab which was great fun. The turnout was so large that unfortunately we could not accommodate everyone who came to the lab. There were as many as 5 people huddled around each of the 20 machines. All the the groups completed the 2 main exercises. Some groups even took the product for an off-road test drive. Look at all the fun we had ... You can download and install a trial license version of BI Publisher from the download page. Highly recommend taking a look at the additional Tutorials available on OTN. It was inspiring to see all of the attendees successfully creating reports. On Tuesday morning we were up early again for a rousing session of BI Publisher Best Practices that was also, very well attended especially considering the 8 am start. Later that morning saw Ben Bruno from STR Software and two of his customers speak on the additional functionality and ROI they have achieved by using Publisher within EBS and AventX to FAX and Email Publisher generated documents. Spent the afternoon staffing the BI Technology demo pod and had a steady flow of people dropping by with questions. Having a great conference so far and looking forward to the rest of it.

• How do I usb tether my Cyanogen modded G1's internet connection to my Toshiba Tecra 8000 running Xub

  I have usb-tethering enabled in my phone. It works fine with Vista. When I plug my phone into my Tecra 8000 laptop running Xubuntu, dmesg shows: "usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8". I see that the OS has detected it as a storage device, but I can't get it to function correctly as a network device. /dev/us* shows no usb0, but it does show /dev/usbdev1.1_ep00 /dev/usbdev1.1_ep81 /dev/usbdev1.8_ep00 ... usbdev1.8_ep83. I could just use the wireless tether app for android, but I can't get my Netgear wg511 v2 (made in China) wireless card to work in this laptop either. But that's another post for later.

• Setting up a wireless access point with Ubuntu server

  I am trying to setup a wifi access point with my Ubuntu server, everything "seems" to be good since I got a better wifi radio (long story). But now I am a little confused, when my Android phone tries to associate with the AP it is able to with no problem but then it cannot get an IP address from my DHCP server. I have tried messing with firewall rules, nothing... I tried making a bridge interface as per what I am told I had to do. ( Not sure if i did it right though). What I am trying to do if make the wireless interface an extention of my eth0 network. Am I on the right track or am I going about the wrong way?

• Site stopped working after adding NIC card

  My boss made a bit of blunder yesterday, he added a secondary NIC card to the a machine hosting a website so that it could be part of the local network. He also added it to the <blah>.local domain (which all our servers are being added too). The website failed following this. He thought this was because the machine was now called <blahblah>.<blah>.local, so he removed it from the domain and restarted. Same problem a asp.net error, something to do with a binding error. Sorry he didn’t make a note of it. He traced it back to the WCF services that are running on the site. Anyway, it looks like ASP.NET gets confused connecting to the database when there’s multiple network cards. The 173.x.x.x IP address (which is internal), doesn’t route to the internet.. Therefore it’s trying to connect via the wrong network. Any ideas about how to resolve it?

• IIS - Forwarding requests to a folder to another port

  Context I currently installed Glassfish 3 in a server that currently holds ASP and PHP inside Internet Information Server 7 so we can start moving to a new system architecture (the information system is being remade). Obviously, Glassfish uses another port and without too much configuration (all I had to do is to install it) it worked. If I write www.domain.com:8080, the person will be redirected to the Glassfish server. Issue Obviously I don't want the person to write the port! I also believe it might also hold some security issues. Requirement I need the server to take an address of the form www.domain.com/gf or new.domain.com or something alike, and when it receives such a request, "redirect" (masking the URL) the user to the Glassfish website (www.domain.com:8080). • Why might login failures cause SQL 2005 to dump and ditch?

  Our SQL 2005 server began timing out and finally stopped responding on Oct 26th. The application logs showed a ton of 17883 events leading up to a reboot. After the reboot everything was fine but we were still scratching our heads. Fast forward 6 days... it happened again. Then again 2 days later. The last night. Today it has happened three times to far. The timeline is fairly predictable when it happens: Trans log backups. Login failure for "user2". Minidump Another minidump for the scheduler Repeated 17883 events. Server fails little by little until it won't accept any requests. Reboot is all that gets us going again (a band-aid) Interesting, though, is that the server box itself doesn't seem to have any problems. CPU usage is normal. Network connectivity is fine. We can remote in and look at logs. Management studio does eventually bog down, though. Today, for the first time, we tried stopping services instead of a reboot. All services stopped on their own except for the SQL Server service. We finally did an "end task" on that one and were able to bring everything back up. It worked fine for about 30 minutes until we started seeing timeouts and 17883's again. This time, probably because we didn't reboot all the way, we saw a bunch of 844 events mixed in with the 17883's. Our entire tech team here is scratching heads... some ideas we're kicking around: MS Cumulative Update hit around the same time as when we first had a problem. Since then, we've rolled it back. Maybe it didn't rollback all the way. The situation looks and feels like an unhandled "stack overflow" (no relation) in that it starts small and compounds over time. Problem with this is that there isn't significant CPU usage. At any rate, we're not ruling SQL 2005 bug out at all. Maybe we added one too many import processes and have reached our limit on this box. (hard to believe). Looking at SQLDUMP0151.log at the time of one of the crashes. There are some "login failures" and then there are two stack dumps. 1st a normal stack dump, 2nd for a scheduler dump.
