  • jQuery appendTo (switching back and forth)

    - by Starboy
    So what I'm trying to accomplish is a simple appendTo a certain element. The issue I'm having is after execute is run, it appends to the location but then proceed to go back to the ul it resides in. <script type="text/javascript"> function execute() { $('#desCopy').appendTo('#description') $('#imgPlace').appendTo('#IMGbox') } </script> <div id="content" style="background:#000; width:989px;"> <div style="float:left; left:18px; margin:0; width:337px; position:relative; padding:15px 0 0 0; color:#FFF;"> <div id="description"> </div> </div> <div id="IMGbox" style="float:left; position:relative; display:block; background:#F00; width:652px; height:258px; background:#0FF; overflow:hidden;"> </div> <div style="float:right; background:#CCC; height:25px; width:652px;"> <ul> <li><a href="" onclick="execute()">Slide 1</a> <ul style=""> <li><span id="desCopy">Test description, Test description</span></li> <li><img src="images/test.jpg" id="imgPlace"></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> </div>

  • Split a PDF by Bookmarks?

    - by Jason
Going to be getting a single PDF that has been created by 'merging' multiple pdf's. When I view the merged PDF each single PDF is displayed as a bookmark. Is there any way to automatically split this up by bookmarks with a script? We would not know the page numbers, so that's not an option.

  • Dealing with wacky encodings in Python

    - by Tyson
I have a Python script that pulls in data from many sources (databases, files, etc.). Supposedly, all the strings are unicode, but what I end up getting is any variation on the following theme (as returned by repr()): u'D\\xc3\\xa9cor' u'D\xc3\xa9cor' 'D\\xc3\\xa9cor' 'D\xc3\xa9cor' Is there a reliable way to take any four of the above strings and return the proper unicode string? u'D\xe9cor' # --> Décor The only way I can think of right now uses eval(), replace(), and a deep, burning shame that will never wash away.

  • using ruby-debug with jruby-1.5.0

    - by brad
Release notes say that ruby-debug is installed by default. I'm using rvm. In my rails app I figured something as simple as script/server --debugger would suffice, but it complains that the ruby-debug gem isn't installed, suggests using gem install ruby-debug, which of course doesn't work (building native extensions) and is contrary to the docs anyway. Just wondering if anyone's had any luck using the built in ruby-debug in jruby 1.5 and what one needs to do in order run jruby in debug mode

  • Good tool to visualise database schema?

    - by Mat
Are there any good tools for visualising a pre-existing database schema? I'm using MySQL if it matters. I'm currently using MySQL Workbench to process an SQL create script dump, but it's clunky, slow and a manual process to drag all the tables about (which would be okay if it wasn't so slow).

  • Place images byte into String is not working?

    - by Proyb2
I tried on Flex 3, facing issue with uploading JPG/PNG image, trace readUTFBytes would return correct bytes length but tmpFileContent is trucated, it would only appear to have upload just 3 characters of data to the server through PHP script which made image unusable. I have no issue for non-images format. What is wrong here? var tmpFileContent:String = fileRef.data.readUTFBytes(fileRef.data.length); Is String capable of handle bytes?

  • Good book for learning Bourne shell?

    - by John Isaacks
I want to learn how to write shell scripts. Particularly I want to write a svn post-commit script to upload files from a test server to a production server. I am sure I will want to write more as I get more into it. I have very little linux/unix knowledge. Can anyone recommend a good book?

  • How to implement collapsible sections like on this .aspx page?

    - by CSharp Noob
This .aspx page has a very nice set of collapsible sections with a little "+ -" control. http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/editions-compare.aspx Can anyone tell me how this might be done in Visual Studio? I have tried using firebug to deconstruct the page but can't find the script that is doing the showCollapsibleItem() call. Thank you!

  • Using an image file vs data URI in the CSS

    - by fudgey
I'm trying to decide the best way to include an image that is required for a script I've written. I discovered this site and it made me think about trying this method to include the image as a data URI since it was so small - it's a 1x1 pixel 50% opacity png file (used for a background) - it ends up at 2,792 bytes as an image versus 3,746 bytes as text in the CSS. So would this be considered good practice, or would it just clutter up the CSS unnecessarily?

  • Can Ruby access output from shell commands as it appears?

    - by Ciryon
My Ruby script is running a shell command and parsing the output from it. However, it seems the command is first executed and output saved in an array. I would like to be able to access the output lines in real time just as they are printed. I've played around with threads, but haven't got it to work. Any suggestions?

  • Variable assignment in bash

    - by Werner
Hi, this is probably a very stupid question; in a bash script, given the output of, for instance; awk '{print $7}' temp it gives 0.54546 I would like to give this to a variable, so I tried: read ENE <<< $(awk '{print $7}' temp) but I get Syntax error: redirection unexpected Could you tell me why, and what is the easiest way to do this assignment? Thanks

I have a little jQuery snippet that will fadeIn and fadeOut a group of divs over a select interval. I now need to pause this fadeIn fadeOut on hover, then resume on mouse out. Any help is appreciated. Here is the relevant code.
