• How to paste metafile from Microsoft Word at expected size

  I'm having an issue in a WPF application using the RichTextBox where content being pasted in from Microsoft Word is mangled. To work around the issue, I found that Word includes a metafile on the clipboard, and I can get the metafile from the clipboard using interop (WPF wouldn't properly import the metafile either). My problem, though, is that a metafile is scalable and so whether a user pastes a whole page of content or a small amount, the metafile claims that its Width is 4390. However, if I strip the clipboard of everything but the metafile and paste it into MSPaint, the resulting bitmap in paint has properly scaled the pasted metafile, so it seems to me that there must be some information somewhere that indicates the real size. Does anyone know how to get the proper expected size of the Metafile?

I know i can do this $smarty->assign('title', $user->title); but my object has something like over 20 plus properties. Please advise. EDIT 1 the following didn't work for me. $smarty->assign('user', $user); OR $smarty->register_object('user', $user); then i try to {$user->title} nothing came out. Thank you.

  I have copied a trivial example from the FitNesse Two-Minute example: package com.mrijk; import fit.ColumnFixture; public class Foobar extends ColumnFixture { private double numerator; private double denominator; public void setNumerator(double numerator) {this.numerator = numerator;} public void setDenominator(double denominator) {this.denominator = denominator;} public double quotient() {return numerator/denominator;} } However all test fail with: "Could not find field: denominator.", so obviously the setDenominator is not found/used. When I make the the variables numerator and denominator public instead of private, the tests run successfully. I must be overlooking something, but can't see it yet. Anyone?

  I'm using django-guardian in order to manage per object permission. For a given user I give permission all permission on one object: joe = User.objects.get(username="joe") mytask = Task.objects.get(pk=1) assign('add_task', joe, mytask) assign('change_task', joe, mytask) assign('delete_task', joe, mytask) and I get, as expected: In [57]: joe.has_perm("add_task", mytask) Out[57]: True In [58]: joe.has_perm("change_task", mytask) Out[58]: True In [59]: joe.has_perm("delete_task", mytask) Out[59]: True In admin.py I also make TaskAdmin inherit from GuardedModelAdmin instead of admin.ModelAdmin Now when I connect to my site with joe, on the admin I get: You don't have permission to edit anything Am I not supposed to be able to edit the object mytask? Do I have to set some permissions using the built-in model-based permission system? Am I missing anything? Thank you

  Hi folks, I am currently trying to load a slightly large xml file into a dataset. The xml file is about 700 MB and every time I try to read the xml it needs plenty of time and after a while it throws an "out of memory" exception. DataSet ds = new DataSet(); ds.ReadXml(pathtofile); The main problem is, that it is necessary for me to use those datasets (I use it to import the data from xml file into a sybase database (foreach table, foreach row, foreach column)) and that I have no scheme file. I already googled a while, but I did only find solutions that won't be usable for me.

  Hi, I have converted an Entity framework project to use POCO objects by removing the entity data model and the domain service and meta data classes. My silverlight project works as it is showing a datagrid of Employee objects. I have not added a DataForm and when I modify the "name" property of one of my Employee objects, I get the error: This EntitySet of type 'TestEmployeesApp.Web.Employee' does not support the 'Edit' operation. The error occurs on validatingProperty() on the class Entity on the client side. I checked the metadata on the server side, and all my properties have the attribute Editable(true). I am using Silverlight 3 with VS2008. JD

  Hi, I am trying to write a small app to connect and manipulate some data on an SQL 2008 Express database. The database is on my local machine but I can see it on the network. I am trying to use LINQ to SQL in my app. I am trying to connect to the database so I can add database model to use with LINQ but the problem is I can not see any databases inside the SQL Server, which is on my machine. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?

  Hi guys, I am planning to implement spam filter using Naive Bayesian classification model. Online I see a lot of info on Naive Bayesian classification, but the problem is its a lot of mathematical stuff, than clearly stating how its done. And the problem is I am more of a programmer than a mathematician (yes I had learnt Probability and Bayesian theorem back in school, but out of touch for a long long time, and I don't have luxury of learning it now (Have nearly 3 weeks to come-up with a working prototype)). So if someone can explain or point me to location where its explained for programmers than a mathematician, it would be a great help. • MVVM Good Design. DataSet or a RowViewModel

  I have just started learning MVVM and having a dilemna. If I have a a main ViewModel and inside this model I have a number of datasets. Now should I be creating a new ViewModel for each row inside the dataset? Or expose the DataSet itself as a DependencyProperty? For now the dataset has about 20 rows inside it, and the thought of iterating through each row to create a ViewModel binding to each row.... might not be the best option for performance reasons and memory reasons in the future, like when there are 1000+ rows. Should I still go ahead and create a RowViewModel and iterate through the dataset? And have an ObservableCollection of it or just expose the dataset? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

But I need it to look more like a real scrollbar. • Rails migration to add boolean column to Postgres on Heroku

  I'm trying to execute a simple Rails migration to add a boolean column to an existing table. Here's the add_column call: add_column :users, :soliciting, :boolean, :null => false, :default => false However, after the migration runs (successfully, with no errors), I don't see the new column. If I go into the console and list the columns on the User table, for example, with this command: >> User.columns.each { |c| puts "#{c.name} : #{c.type}" } All the other columns show up, but not the one I just added with the migration. What's even more strange is that looking up a random user object yields the Postgres version of booleans (Ruby strings) >> User.find(1).soliciting => "t" However, the existing boolean columns all show up with standard Ruby boolean values of true and false. What's going on here? Is the migration actually complete? Why doesn't the column show up, yet is accessible in the model objects?

I know I saw a blog post on how to do this, but I cannot seem to find it now. To reiterate, I want dummy data at design time, but real data at run time and not break the MVVM pattern. Any ideas?

  I have an ASP.Net questionnaire application that resubmits data to the same page, showing a different question each time. There are BACK and NEXT buttons to navigate between questions. I would like to detect when the form is submitted due to a browser refresh vs. one of the buttons being pressed. I came across a WebForms approach but don't know how to apply those principals in an MVC 2 application since page events aren't available (as far as I know... I'm pretty new to Microsoft's MVC model). How would one apply that principle to MVC 2? Is there a better way to detect refresh?

But when I try this: public IList<PickUp> Inventory // ... gameObjectManager.MoveFromListToWorld(this, user.Model.Inventory); I get a compiler error: cannot convert from 'System.Collections.Generic.IList' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IList' Why does this occur? Shouldn't this be fine, since PickUp is a subclass of GameObjectController? Do I need something like Java's Map<E extends GameObjectController>? Earlier, I was having a similar problem, where I was trying to implicitly cast inventory from an IList to an ICollection. Is this the same problem?

  I want to read all the data on a handle, and then block waiting for more data. listen1 stops when there is a '\n' character in the stream. listen2 works and could be made completely general by imitating the code for hGetNonBlocking. What is the best way to do this? import qualified Data.ByteString as B loop = sequence_ . repeat listen1 :: Handle -> TChan B.ByteString -> IO() listen1 sock chan = do loop ( do s <- B.hGetLine sock atomically (writeTChan chan s) ) listen2 :: Handle -> TChan B.ByteString -> IO() listen2 sock chan = do loop ( do s <- B.hGet sock 1 s1 <- B.hGetNonBlocking sock 65000 atomically (writeTChan chan (B.append s s1)) )
