  • Extract history from Korn shell

    I am not happy about the history file in binary format of the Korn shell. I like to "collect" some of my command lines, many of them actually, and for a long time. I'm talking about years. That doesn't seem easy in Korn because the history file is not plain text so I can't edit it, and a lot of junk is piling up in it. By "junk" I mean lines that I don'twant to keep, like 'cat' or 'man'. So I added these lines to my .profile: fc -ln 1 9999 ~/khistory.txt source ~/loghistory.sh ~/khistory.txt loghistory.sh contains a handful of sed and sort commands that gets rid of a lot of the junk. But apparently it is forbidden to run fc in the .profile file. I can't login whenever I do, the shell exits right away with signal 11. So I removed that 'fc -l' line from my .profile file and added it to the loghistory.sh script, but the shell still crashes. I also tried this line in my .profile: strings ~/.sh_history ~/khistory.txt source ~/loghistory.sh That doesn't crash, but the output is printed with an additional, random character in the beginning of many lines. I can run 'fc -l' on the command line, but that's no good. I need to automate that. But how? How can I extract my ksh history as plain text? TIA

  • Why aren't these Canvases rendering?

    I'm creating a web app that allows users to enter a number of colors, by specifying RGB values. Upon submission, the user will see a canvas with a solid rectangle drawn in the color chosen. On this page, I have 7 canvases. The first one draws just fine, but none of the rest show up. The browser is Safari.     I recently configured an EC2 instance with a Git deployment workflow that resembles Heroku, but I can't seem to figure out how Heroku prevents the Git post-receive hook from outputting 'remote:' on each line.   • C++ DLL-Linking UnResolved Externals

    I have a rather big Core project that I'm working with, I'm attempting to adapt it to use a DLL Engine I've built, I'm getting a bunch of errors like: unresolved external symbol "private: static class When including some of the headers from the Core in the DLL, the class is exported via __declspec(dllexport) but any header with static members throws out a crapload of errors regarding the static members. This is a rather big project, I can't exactly run around removing every static class member I see, is there anyway around this kind of thing?

  • MVC JsonResult not working with chrome?

    i want jquery to take a JsonResult from my MVC controller but it does'nt receive any data! If I put the output into a textfile and enter its link its working so I think my jQuery is fine. Then I was testing with other browsers like chrome and I saw NOTHING. The requested page was just emtpy.. no errors.     Hi, I'm trying to connect to a SQL server from VB. The SQL server is across the network uses my windows login for authentication. However, I've been trying to use the SqlClient.SqlConnection in VB, and it fails to connect.   • C++ casted realloc causing memory leak

    I'm using a function I found here to save a webpage to memory with cURL: struct WebpageData { char *pageData; size_t size; }; size_t storePage(void *input, size_t size, size_t nmemb, void *output) { size_t realsize = size * nmemb; struct WebpageData *page = (struct WebpageData *)output; page->pageData = (char *)realloc(page->pageData, page->size + realsize + 1); if(page->pageData) { memcpy(&(page->pageData[page->size]), input, realsize); page->size += realsize; page->pageData[page->size] = 0; } return realsize; } and find the line: page->pageData = (char *)realloc(page->pageData, page->size + realsize + 1); is causing a memory leak of a few hundred bytes per call. The only real change I've made from the original source is casting the line in question to a (char *), which my compiler (gcc, g++ specifically if it's a c/c++ issue, but gcc also wouldn't compile with the uncast statement) insisted upon, but I assume this is the source of the leak. Can anyone elucidate? Thanks

    I would like to write a shell script that sets up a mercurial repository, and allow all users in the group "developers" to execute this script. The script is owned by the user "hg", and works fine when ran. The problem comes when I try to run it with another user, using sudo, the execution halts with a "permission denied" error, when it tries to source another file. The script file in question: create_repo.sh #!/bin/bash source colors.sh REPOROOT="/srv/repository/mercurial/" ... rest of the script ....   • Checking if a console application is still running using the Process class

    I'm making an application that will monitor the state of another process and restart it when it stops responding, exits, or throws an error. However, I'm having trouble to make it reliably check if the process (Being a C++ Console window) has stopped responding. However, this never triggers the process class recognizing it as 'stopped responding'. I know there are ways to directly query the source server using their own protocol, but i'd like to keep it simple and universal (So that i can maybe use it for different applications in the future). Any help appreciated

    Since the majority of legal links / READMEs I've found when browsing icon sets refer me to the general GPL / LGPL (as opposed to a specialized version of some kind) when I'm looking at license restrictions, I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out what would constitute source code, linking, etc. when it comes to images and / or icons. One specific example: under section 5 of the GPL, modifications must carry notices in the source code. . . how do I do that with an image? I guess I could try to find a few unused bits and encode my modifications in there (steganography, anyone?), but somehow that doesn't seem like what the license is shooting for. There are also other sections in there where I have no idea how to begin to comply with. Thus, I'm really confused. What exactly are the implications of using GPL and / or LGPL licensed images in something that isn't itself GPL'd? Specifically, I'd like to know what using GPL icons in an iPhone application might mean from a legal point of view. It feels like I'm missing something obvious here; any enlightenment / references would be appreciated!

What I want to do is, if a call comes in, the incoming telephone number and a picture are displayed, and, if I press a button, the incoming call will be accepted/answered. At first, an exception is thrown if I press my answer button: ActivityNotFoundException: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.ANSWER Then I added an entry in the AndroidManifest.xml: I run the app again, there is no exception anymore. However, I doubt the incoming call is not really accepted. Because if the press the Android's screen answer button (green button), the incoming call is accepted and a green button is also displayed on the upper left corner of the emulator screen, while my app doesn't. I also read the Phone app's source code in android source. There is method such as acceptCall() in the Phone class.   • What is the space character for the browser?

Keep mind, I don't want this rendered in the browser view...but in the source view ( when you click view-source )...I'm trying to put my html in to a readable form. echo "&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp\n" .
