  • Delete Duplicate records from large csv file C# .Net

    - by Sandhurst
    I have created a solution which read a large csv file currently 20-30 mb in size, I have tried to delete the duplicate rows based on certain column values that the user chooses at run time using the usual technique of finding duplicate rows but its so slow that it seems the program is not working at all. What other technique can be applied to remove duplicate records from a csv file Here's the code, definitely I am doing something wrong DataTable dtCSV = ReadCsv(file, columns); //columns is a list of string List column DataTable dt=RemoveDuplicateRecords(dtCSV, columns); private DataTable RemoveDuplicateRecords(DataTable dtCSV, List<string> columns) { DataView dv = dtCSV.DefaultView; string RowFilter=string.Empty; if(dt==null) dt = dv.ToTable().Clone(); DataRow row = dtCSV.Rows[0]; foreach (DataRow row in dtCSV.Rows) { try { RowFilter = string.Empty; foreach (string column in columns) { string col = column; RowFilter += "[" + col + "]" + "='" + row[col].ToString().Replace("'","''") + "' and "; } RowFilter = RowFilter.Substring(0, RowFilter.Length - 4); dv.RowFilter = RowFilter; DataRow dr = dt.NewRow(); bool result = RowExists(dt, RowFilter); if (!result) { dr.ItemArray = dv.ToTable().Rows[0].ItemArray; dt.Rows.Add(dr); } } catch (Exception ex) { } } return dt; }

  • JDO difficulties in retrieving persistent vector

    - by Michael Omer
    I know there are already some posts regarding this subject, but although I tried using them as a reference, I am still stuck. I have a persistent class as follows: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class GameObject implements IMySerializable{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) protected Key m_databaseKey; @NotPersistent private final static int END_GAME_VAR = -1000; @Persistent(defaultFetchGroup = "true") protected GameObjectSet m_set; @Persistent protected int m_databaseType = IDatabaseAccess.TYPE_NONE; where GameObjectSet is: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) @FetchGroup(name = "mySet", members = {@Persistent(name = "m_set")}) public class GameObjectSet { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key id; @Persistent private Vector<GameObjectSetPair> m_set; and GameObjectSetPair is: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class GameObjectSetPair { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key id; @Persistent private String key; @Persistent(defaultFetchGroup = "true") private GameObjectVar value; When I try to fetch the entire structure by fetching the GameObject, the set doesn't have any elements (they are all null) I tried adding the fetching group to the PM, but to no avail. This is my fetching code Vector<GameObject> ret = new Vector<GameObject>(); PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); pm.getFetchPlan().setMaxFetchDepth(-1); pm.getFetchPlan().addGroup("mySet"); Query myQuery = pm.newQuery(GameObject.class); myQuery.setFilter("m_databaseType == objectType"); myQuery.declareParameters("int objectType"); try { List<GameObject> res = (List<GameObject>)myQuery.execute(objectType); ret = new Vector<GameObject>(res); for (int i = 0; i < ret.size(); i++) { ret.elementAt(i).getSet(); ret.elementAt(i).getSet().touchSet(); } } catch (Exception e) { } finally { pm.close(); } Does anyone have any idea? Thanks Mike

  • Java generic Comparable where subclasses can't compare to eachother

    - by dege
public abstract class MyAbs implements Comparable<MyAbs> This would work but then I would be able to compare class A and B with each other if they both extend MyAbs. What I want to accomplish however is the exact opposite. So does anyone know a way to get the generic type to be the own class? Seemed like such a simple thing at first... Edit: To explain it a little further with an example. Say you have an abstract class animals, then you extend it with Dogs and ants. I wouldn't want to compare ants with Dogs but I however would want to compare one dog with another. The dog might have a variable saying what color it is and that is what I want to use in the compareTo method. However when it comes to ants I would rather want to compare ant's size than their color. Hope that clears it up. Could possibly be a design flaw however.

  • VBA: How go I get the total width from all controls in an MS-Access form?

    - by Stefan Åstrand
Hi, This is probably very basic stuff, but please bear in mind I am completely new to these things. I am working on a procedure for my Access datasheet forms that will: Adjust the width of each column to fit content Sum the total width of all columns and subtract it from the size of the window's width Adjust the width of one of the columns to fit the remaining space This is the code that adjusts the width of each column to fit content (which works fine): Dim Ctrl As Control Dim Path As String Dim ClmWidth As Integer 'Adjust column width to fit content For Each Ctrl In Me.Controls If TypeOf Ctrl Is TextBox Then Path = Ctrl.Name Me(Path).ColumnWidth = -2 End If Next Ctrl How should I write the code so I get the total width of all columns? Thanks a lot! Stefan Solution This is the code that makes an Access datasheet go from this: To this: Sub AdjustColumnWidth(frm As Form, clm As String) On Error GoTo HandleError Dim intWindowWidth As Integer ' Window width property Dim ctrl As Control ' Control Dim intCtrlWidth As Integer ' Control width property Dim intCtrlSum As Integer ' Control width property sum Dim intCtrlAdj As Integer ' Control width property remaining after substracted intCtrSum 'Adjust column width to standard width For Each ctrl In frm.Controls If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is CheckBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is ComboBox Then Path = ctrl.Name frm(Path).ColumnWidth = 1500 End If Next ctrl 'Get total column width For Each ctrl In frm.Controls If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is CheckBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is ComboBox Then Path = ctrl.Name intCtrlWidth = frm(Path).ColumnWidth If Path <> clm Then intCtrlSum = intCtrlSum + intCtrlWidth End If End If Next ctrl 'Adjust column to fit window intWindowWidth = frm.WindowWidth - 270 intCtrlAdj = intWindowWidth - intCtrlSum frm.Width = intWindowWidth frm(clm).ColumnWidth = intCtrlAdj Debug.Print "Totalt (Ctrl): " & intCtrlSum Debug.Print "Totalt (Window): " & intWindowWidth Debug.Print "Totalt (Remaining): " & intCtrlAdj Debug.Print "clm : " & clm HandleError: GeneralErrorHandler Err.Number, Err.Description Exit Sub End Sub Code to call procedure: Private Sub Form_Load() Call AdjustColumnWidth(Me, "txtDescription") End Sub

  • int considered harmful?

    - by Chris Becke
Working on code meant to be portable between Win32 and Win64 and Cocoa, I am really struggling to get to grips with what the @#$% the various standards committees involved over the past decades were thinking when they first came up with, and then perpetuated, the crime against humanity that is the C native typeset - char, short, int and long. On the one hand, as a old-school c++ programmer, there are few statements that were as elegant and/or as simple as for(int i=0; i<some_max; i++) but now, it seems that, in the general case, this code can never be correct. Oh sure, given a particular version of MSVC or GCC, with specific targets, the size of 'int' can be safely assumed. But, in the case of writing very generic c/c++ code that might one day be used on 16 bit hardware, or 128, or just be exposed to a particularly weirdly setup 32/64 bit compiler, how does use int in c++ code in a way that the resulting program would have predictable behavior in any and all possible c++ compilers that implemented c++ according to spec. To resolve these unpredictabilities, C99 and C++98 introduced size_t, uintptr_t, ptrdiff_t, int8_t, int16_t, int32_t, int16_t and so on. Which leaves me thinking that a raw int, anywhere in pure c++ code, should really be considered harmful, as there is some (completely c++xx conforming) compiler, thats going to produce an unexpected or incorrect result with it. (and probably be a attack vector as well)

  • How to position an element next to another an element of undefined position?

    - by allin
Hi, I am very new to html/xml/css and I'm trying my best to teach myself. However, I have run into a problem that a Google search could not solve. I would like to position a small image in a fixed location relative to another element(?) I believe this is the code of the element i want to position the second element relative to. #wrap { width:550px; background-color:#fff; margin:0 auto; padding:0; border-right:1px solid #ccc; border-left:1px solid #ccc; } #container { width: 500px; margin:0 auto; padding: 25px; font-size:.85em; background-color: #fff; } and this is partial code I'm trying to edit to position .xyz to the right of "#wrap" .xyz { position: ???; top: 200px; right: ???; _position: ???; _margin: ???; _text-align: right; z-index: 1337; } my search of SOF has lead me to believe i'm supposed to do something along the lines of this - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/104953/position-an-html-element-relative-to-its-container-using-css - but i haven't been able to. I greatly appreciate any help you may offer. Hopefully I've explained my problem properly.

  • Multiplication of 2 positive numbers giving a negative result

    - by krandiash
My program is an implementation of a bloom filter. However, when I'm storing my hash function results in the bit array, the function (of the form f(i) = (a*i + b) % m where a,b,i,m are all positive integers) is giving me a negative result. The problem seems to be in the calculation of a*i which is coming out to be negative. Ignore the print statements in the code; those were for debugging. Basically, the value of temp in this block of code is coming out to be negative and so I'm getting an ArrayOutOfBoundsException. m is the bit array length, z is the number of hash functions being used, S is the set of values which are members of this bloom filter and H stores the values of a and b for the hash functions f1, f2, ..., fz. public static int[] makeBitArray(int m, int z, ArrayList<Integer> S, int[] H) { int[] C = new int[m]; for (int i = 0; i < z; i++) { for (int q = 0; q < S.size() ; q++) { System.out.println(H[2*i]); int temp = S.get(q)*(H[2*i]); System.out.println(temp); System.out.println(S.get(q)); System.out.println(H[2*i + 1]); System.out.println(m); int t = ((H[2*i]*S.get(q)) + H[2*i + 1])%m; System.out.println(t); C[t] = 1; } } return C; } Any help is appreciated.

  • What is optimal hardware configuration for heavy load LAMP application

    - by Piotr Kochanski
I need to run Linux-Apache-PHP-MySQL application (Moodle e-learning platform) for a large number of concurrent users - I am aiming 5000 users. By concurrent I mean that 5000 people should be able to work with the application at the same time. "Work" means not only do database reads but writes as well. The application is not very typical, since it is doing a lot of inserts/updates on the database, so caching techniques are not helping to much. We are using InnoDB storage engine. In addition application is not written with performance in mind. For instance one Apache thread usually occupies about 30-50 MB of RAM. I would be greatful for information what hardware is needed to build scalable configuration that is able to handle this kind of load. We are using right now two HP DLG 380 with two 4 core processors which are able to handle much lower load (typically 300-500 concurrent users). Is it reasonable to invest in this kind of boxes and build cluster using them or is it better to go with some more high-end hardware? I am particularly curious how many and how powerful servers are needed (number of processors/cores, size of RAM) what network equipment should be used (what kind of switches, network cards) any other hardware, like particular disc storage solutions, etc, that are needed Another thing is how to put together everything, that is what is the most optimal architecture. Clustering with MySQL is rather hard (people are complaining about MySQL Cluster, even here on Stackoverflow).

  • Question about using adaptive layout + print style sheet

    - by Michael
Hey everyone, In my web design class, we looked at creating different style sheets for different window sizes and using a javascript that detects the window size and loads the right style sheet. In the head, I'm linking to three external style sheets, as well as a link to the javascript file. So the adaptive layout works fine. However... I also need to be able to use a print style sheet with this particular webpage (it's the requirement for this project). The problem is this that the way the javascript was written makes it so that it ignores the print style sheet. When I go to print preview, it ignores the print style sheet and the preview shows me all of my webpage unstyled. It looks like just the html when opened in a browser. I am using the javascript by Kevin Hale at ParticleTree, and I'm sure there are those familiar with this :] http://particletree.com/examples/dynamiclayouts/ I would like to know what needs to be changed so that the print style sheet isn't ignored. I've shown this to my professor. However, her email wasn't clear enough, but I understand that somehow the script is ignoring the print.css and that's why the print preview shows a css-less preview. Since it's the weekend, I won't be able to get an answer until Monday, and I was hoping someone can help me out. Thank you very much! Michael

  • .NET Graphics.ScaleTransform converts print job to bitmap. Any other way to scale text?

    - by Philip Dunaway
I'm using Graphics.ScaleTransform to stretch lines of text so they fit the width of the page, and then printing that page. However, this converts the print job to a bitmap - for a print with many pages this causes the size of the print job to rise to obscene proportions, and slows down printing immensely. If I don't scale like this, the print job remains very small as it is just sending text print commands to the printer. My question is, is there any way other than using Graphics.ScaleTransform to stretch the width of the text? Sample code to demonstrate this is below (would be called with Print.Test(True) and Print.Test(False) to show the effects of scaling on print job): Imports System.Drawing Imports System.Drawing.Printing Imports System.Drawing.Imaging Public Class Print Dim FixedFont As Font Dim Area As RectangleF Dim CharHeight As Double Dim CharWidth As Double Dim Scale As Boolean Const CharsAcross = 80 Const CharsDown = 66 Const TestString = "!""#$%&'()*+,-./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^_`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~" Private Sub PagePrinter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As PrintPageEventArgs) Dim G As Graphics = e.Graphics If Scale Then Dim ws = Area.Width / G.MeasureString(Space(CharsAcross).Replace(" ", "X"), FixedFont).Width G.ScaleTransform(ws, 1) End If For CurrentLine = 1 To CharsDown G.DrawString(Mid(TestString & TestString & TestString, CurrentLine, CharsAcross), FixedFont, Brushes.Black, 0, Convert.ToSingle(CharHeight * (CurrentLine - 1))) Next e.HasMorePages = False End Sub Public Shared Sub Test(ByVal Scale As Boolean) Dim OutputDocument As New PrintDocument With OutputDocument Dim DP As New Print .PrintController = New StandardPrintController .DefaultPageSettings.Landscape = False DP.Area = .DefaultPageSettings.PrintableArea DP.CharHeight = DP.Area.Height / CharsDown DP.CharWidth = DP.Area.Width / CharsAcross DP.Scale = Scale DP.FixedFont = New Font("Courier New", DP.CharHeight / 100, FontStyle.Regular, GraphicsUnit.Inch) .DocumentName = "Test print (with" & IIf(Scale, "", "out") & " scaling)" AddHandler .PrintPage, AddressOf DP.PagePrinter .Print() End With End Sub End Class

  • How to get at contents of placeholder::_1

    - by sheepsimulator
I currently have the following code: using boost::bind; typedef boost::signal<void(EventDataItem&)> EventDataItemSignal; class EventDataItem { ... EventDataItemSignal OnTrigger; ... } typedef std::list< shared_ptr<EventDataItem> > DataItemList; typedef std::list<boost::signals::connection> ConnectionList; class MyClass { void OnStart() { DataItemList dilItems; ConnectionList clConns; DataItemList::iterator iterDataItems; for(iterDataItems = dilItems.begin(); iterDataItems != dilItems.end(); iterDataItems++) { // Create Connections from Triggers clConns.push_back((*iterDataItems)->OnTrigger.connect( bind(&MyClass::OnEventTrigger, this))); } } void OnEventTrigger() { // ... Do stuff on Trigger... } } I'd like to change MyClass::OnStart to use std::transform to achieve the same thing: void MyClass::OnStart() { DataItemList dilItems; ConnectionList clConns; // Resize connection list to match number of data items clConns.resize(dilItems.size()); // Build connection list from Items // note: errors on the placeholder _1->OnTrigger std::transform(dilItems.begin(), dilItems.end(), clConns.begin(), bind(&EventDataItemSignal::connect, _1->OnTrigger, bind(&MyClass::Stuff, this))); } However, my hiccup is _1-OnTrigger. How can I reference OnTrigger from placeholder _1?

  • 1k of Program Space, 64 bytes of RAM. Is assembly an absolute must?

    - by Earlz
(If your lazy see bottom for TL;DR) Hello, I am planning to build a new (prototype) project dealing with physical computing. Basically, I have wires. These wires all need to have their voltage read at the same time. More than a few hundred microseconds difference between the readings of each wire will completely screw it up. The Arduino takes about 114 microseconds. So the most I could read is 2 or 3 wires before the latency would skew the accuracy of the readings. So my plan is to have an Arduino as the "master" of an array of ATTinys. The arduino is pretty cramped for space, but it's a massive playground compared to the tinys. An ATTiny13A has 1k of flash ROM(program space), 64 bytes of RAM, and 64 bytes of (not-durable and slow) EEPROM. (I'm choosing this for price as well as size) The ATTinys in my system will not do much. Basically, all they will do is wait for a signal from the Master, and then read the voltage of 1 or 2 wires and store it in RAM(or possibly EEPROM if it's that cramped). And then send it to the Master using only 1 wire for data.(no room for more than that!). So far then, all I should have to do is implement trivial voltage reading code (using built in ADC). But this communication bit I'm worried about. Do you think a communication protocol(using just 1 wire!) could even be implemented in such constraints? TL;DR: In less than 1k of program space and 64 bytes of RAM(and 64 bytes of EEPROM) do you think it is possible to implement a 1 wire communication protocol? Would I need to drop to assembly to make it fit? I know that currently my Arduino programs linking to the Wiring library are over 8k, so I'm a bit concerned.

  • Why is creating a ring buffer shared by different processes so hard (in C++), what I am doing wrong?

    - by recipriversexclusion
I am being especially dense about this but it seems I'm missing an important, basic point or something, since what I want to do should be common: I need to create a fixed-size ring buffer object from a manager process (Process M). This object has write() and read() methods to write/read from the buffer. The read/write methods will be called by independent processes (Process R and W) I have implemented the buffer, SharedBuffer<T&>, it allocates buffer slots in SHM using boost::interprocess and works perfectly within a single process. I have read the answers to this question and that one on SO, as well as asked my own, but I'm still in the dark about how to have different processes access methods from a common object. The Boost doc has an example of creating a vector in SHM, which is very similar to what I want, but I want to instantiate my own class. My current options are: Use placement new, as suggested by Charles B. to my question; however, he cautions that it's not a good idea to put non-POD objects in SHM. But my class needs the read/write methods, how can I handle those? Add an allocator to my class definition, e.g. have SharedBuffer<T&, Alloc> and proceed similarly to the vector example given in boost. This sounds really complicated. Change SharedBuffer to a POD class, i.e. get rid of all the methods. But then how to synchronize reading and writing between processes? What am I missing? Fixed-length ring buffers are very common, so either this problem has a solution or else I'm doing something wrong.

  • Compiling and using NTL c++ library for Windows

    - by Martin Lauridsen
Hi there, I have compiled the NTL inifite precision integer arithmetic library for c++, using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. I did as explained, on this site, using the Visual Studio interface, rather than from the command prompt. Actually I would rather do it from the command prompt, but I was not sure how to. Anyhow, I got the library compiled, and I now want to compile a program using the library, from the command prompt. The program I am trying to compile, has been tested on a linux system, where I compile it with the following c++ -I/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/NTL-5.4.2/include mpqs.cpp main.cpp -o main -L/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/NTL-5.4.2/lib -lntl -L/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/gmp-4.2.1/lib -lgmp -lm Nevermind the gmp stuff, I dont have that installed on Windows. It is purely an optional thing that will make the NTL run faster. Anyhow, this works fine on linux. Now on Windows I write the following cl /EHsc /I D:\Downloads\WinNTL-5_5_2\include mpqs.cpp main.cpp /link /LIBPATH:"D:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ntl\Debug" But this results in the following errors: mpqs.cpp mpqs.cpp(38) : error C2039: 'find_smooth_vals' : is not a member of 'QS' d:\desktop\qs\mpqs.h(12) : see declaration of 'QS' mpqs.cpp(41) : error C2065: 'M' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(41) : error C2065: 'n' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(42) : error C2065: 'sieve_table' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(42) : error C2228: left of '.size' must have class/struct/union type is ''unknown-type'' mpqs.cpp(43) : error C2065: 'sieve_table' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(44) : error C2065: 'qx_table' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(44) : error C3861: 'test_smoothness': identifier not found mpqs.cpp(45) : error C2065: 'smooth_indices' : undeclared identifier mpqs.cpp(45) : error C2228: left of '.push_back' must have class/struct/union type is ''unknown-type'' main.cpp Generating Code... It is as if, my mpqs.h file is not included into the compilation process? Also I dont understand why it complains about .push_back() for a vector type? Help is much appreciated!

  • scrolling and css align with "right: 0px"

    - by Gabi
Hello, In an HTML page, if I align some <div>s with "right: 0px", they all look very nice, as I expect. However, if I make the browser window smaller and the horizontal scroll bar appears, when I scroll the page to the right, I see an unexpected white space (instead of the background colors of my <div>s). It seems that my <div>s are aligned relative to the visible area of the page. See the sample code below: <html> <head> <style> <!-- #parent { position: absolute; left: 0px; right: 0px; top: 0px; bottom: 0px; background-color: yellow; } #child { position: absolute; left: 100px; top: 300px; width: 1000px; height: 400px; background-color: blue; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="parent"><div id="child">some text here</div></div> </body> </html> Is there any way to make the "right: 0px" property align the controls relative to the size of the entire page, not only the visible area? Thanks.

  • Optimizing quality for available bandwidth in Flash/RTMFP

    - by Artem M.
I'm developing a simple one-on-one P2P video chat using ActionScript, and I'd like to ensure the best video quality for the peers given their bandwidth. This means: Setting the best quality given the available bandwidth when the chat starts Responding to network congestions during chat by decreasing the quality. The task is similar to dynamic stream switching, but P2P has its specifics that make dynamic streaming approaches not work. For example, the maxBytesPerSecond metric monitored in dynamic stream switching is pretty useless in P2P where the receiving NetStream's buffer size is set to 0 to minimize latency. So far, it looks like the most reliable QoS metric for P2P is SRTT. In my simulated tests on a local network, a bandwidth congestion makes it shot up to 500 ms and more when there's a bandwidth limit introduced. However, it gives no hint as to how best adjust the value for bandwidth in Camera.setQuality(0, bandwidth) to respond to the congestion. I've done lots of experiments, and I still don't see a clear and simple solution to the problem. I'm also wondering how this issue is addressed (if at all) in other RTMFP chat solutions.

  • What is a data structure for quickly finding non-empty intersections of a list of sets?

    - by Andrey Fedorov
I have a set of N items, which are sets of integers, let's assume it's ordered and call it I[1..N]. Given a candidate set, I need to find the subset of I which have non-empty intersections with the candidate. So, for example, if: I = [{1,2}, {2,3}, {4,5}] I'm looking to define valid_items(items, candidate), such that: valid_items(I, {1}) == {1} valid_items(I, {2}) == {1, 2} valid_items(I, {3,4}) == {2, 3} I'm trying to optimize for one given set I and a variable candidate sets. Currently I am doing this by caching items_containing[n] = {the sets which contain n}. In the above example, that would be: items_containing = [{}, {1}, {1,2}, {2}, {3}, {3}] That is, 0 is contained in no items, 1 is contained in item 1, 2 is contained in itmes 1 and 2, 2 is contained in item 2, 3 is contained in item 2, and 4 and 5 are contained in item 3. That way, I can define valid_items(I, candidate) = union(items_containing[n] for n in candidate). Is there any more efficient data structure (of a reasonable size) for caching the result of this union? The obvious example of space 2^N is not acceptable, but N or N*log(N) would be.

  • How do I insert an input's value into a separate form?

    - by ryan
I'm making a tool for my university that allows students to create a list of classes by doing the following: Searching by course title for their course via an autocomplete input field. Adding that course to a separate form that upon being submitted creates a course list. I am trying to link the autocomplete and the course list form with an 'add to course list' button that inserts a hidden input field into the course list form which can subsequently be submitted by a 'create course list' button. My question is this: How do I take the value of the autocomplete input and insert it into the course list form without using AJAX? So far I have something like the following: <%= text_field_with_auto_complete :course, :title, :size => 40 %> <%= link_to_function "Add to Course List" do |page| page.insert_html :top, :course_list, hidden_field(:courses, :course, {:value => "$('course_title').value"}) %> <% form_for(@course_list) do |f|%> <div id="course_list">Insert selected courses here.</div> <% end %>

  • css problem - 'post link'

Hi, I am no css expert so I am wondering whether someone could help. I have several forms to delete an item like this: <form action="/Items/DeleteItem" class="deleteForm" method="post"> Some text <input id="Id" name="Id" value="14014" type="hidden"> <input value="Delete" class="link_button" type="submit"> </form> This should look like this: Some text Delete Here ‘Some text’ describes the item and Delete is a ‘link’ which performs a post request to delete the item (as virtually all browsers only support the post and get requests). I have started to style things (CSS below) but the ‘Delete’ ‘link’ is still slightly offset in relation to ‘Some text’ (at least in firefox). I would appreciate any help with the css. Thanks! .link_button { background-color:white; border:0; color:#034af3; text-decoration:underline; font-size:1em; font-family:inherit; cursor:pointer; float:left; margin:0; padding:0; } .deleteForm { float:right; margin:0; padding:0; } Christian

  • Cappuccino plist structure

    - by PurplePilot
The question is does anyone know what the structure of the (type-2) plist files in Cappuccino are? In Cappuccino there is a lot of use made of plist files. Some such as info.plist (type-1) follow a recognizable structure. These are fine i can inderstand them. <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CPApplicationDelegateClass</key> <string>DocumentController</string> <key>CPBundleDocumentTypes</key> <array> <dict> ..... etc However others (type-2) which are used for importing data, importing the pptx files to and from the slides application and i believe in Atlas the development tool do not. They have a structure like this 280NPLIST;1.0;D;K;4;$topD;K;23;DocumentPresentationKeyD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;1E;E;K;8;$objectsA;S;5;$nullD;K;6;$classD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;2E;K;23;SKPresentationSlideSizeD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;3E;K;23;SKPresentationNotesSizeD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;4E;K;20;SKPresentationSlidesD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;5E;K;26;SKPresentationSlideMastersD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;7E;K;19;SKPresentationThemeD;K;6;CP$UIDd;1;8E;E;D;K;10;$classnameS;14; Which appears to come on a single line regardless of size (i had one today with in excess of 1.3 million chars. Some of the structure is to do with character counting but i have had what look like valid files that fail and ones that look dubious do not. I suspect i have just asked a Tumbleweed badge question her but as i already have one it doesn't matter.

  • working with large sprite sheets on iphone

    - by lukya
Hi All, I am trying to use sprite sheet animation in my application. The first POC with a small sprite sheet worked fine but as i change the sprite sheet to a bigger one, i get "check_safe_call: could not restore current frame" warning and the application quits. A quick search revealed that this problem meant my app is taking too much memory or the image is too huge in dimension. My image is 4.9 Mb and dimensions are 6720 * 10080 (oops!!). i read that iphone allows maximum 3 Mb image with dimensions up to 1024 * 1024. Also that the sprite sheet image dimensions should be a power of two. So please let me know how i can use a sprite sheet this big. One approach could be to cut the sprite sheet into many smaller sprite sheets and use them one at a time. Please suggest if you know any other/better approach to accommodate bigger sprite sheets and whether the problem with my sprite sheet is size (4.9 Mb) OR dimensions (6720 * 10080). (Just FYI, i am not trying to play a movie so using MP4 file instead is not an option for me. i need to animate the sprite sheet based on accelerometer input and i have been able to achieve that in my POC with smaller sprite sheet.) Thanks, Swapnil

  • Getting exception when trying to monkey patch pymongo.connection._Pool

    - by Creotiv
I use pymongo 1.9 on Ubuntu 10.10 with python 2.6.6 When i trying to monkey patch pymongo.connection._Pool i'm getting error on connection: AutoReconnect: could not find master/primary But when i change _Pool class in pymongo.connection module, it work pretty fine. Even if i copy _Pool implementation from pymongo.connection module and will try to monkey patch by the same code, it still giving same exception. I need to remove threading.local from _Pool class, because i use gevent and i need to implement Pool for all mongo connections(for all threads). I use this code: import pymongo class GPool: """A simple connection pool. Uses thread-local socket per thread. By calling return_socket() a thread can return a socket to the pool. Right now the pool size is capped at 10 sockets - we can expose this as a parameter later, if needed. """ # Non thread-locals __slots__ = ["sockets", "socket_factory", "pool_size","sock"] #sock = None def __init__(self, socket_factory): self.pool_size = 10 if not hasattr(self,"sock"): self.sock = None self.socket_factory = socket_factory if not hasattr(self, "sockets"): self.sockets = [] def socket(self): # we store the pid here to avoid issues with fork / # multiprocessing - see # test.test_connection:TestConnection.test_fork for an example # of what could go wrong otherwise pid = os.getpid() if self.sock is not None and self.sock[0] == pid: return self.sock[1] try: self.sock = (pid, self.sockets.pop()) except IndexError: self.sock = (pid, self.socket_factory()) return self.sock[1] def return_socket(self): if self.sock is not None and self.sock[0] == os.getpid(): # There's a race condition here, but we deliberately # ignore it. It means that if the pool_size is 10 we # might actually keep slightly more than that. if len(self.sockets) < self.pool_size: self.sockets.append(self.sock[1]) else: self.sock[1].close() self.sock = None pymongo.connection._Pool = GPool

  • iPad: Detecting External Keyboard

    - by StuartW
My app uses a UIAccessoryView to provide additional keyboard functionality (such as forward/backward tabs and arrows keys) for the virtual keyboard, but that causes UIKeyboardDidShowNotification to fire even when a physical keyboard is present (the accessory appears at the bottom of the screen). I'd like to check if a physical keyboard is attached when handling UIKeyboardWillShowNotification, to prevent the accessory view from appearing and to prevent my custom view from scrolling up (to make room for the non-existent virtual keyboard). I've tried examining the UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey key, but it returns a real size for the virtual keyboard, in spite of nothing being displayed. Is there any way to detect the presence of a physical keyboard to prevent this unwanted behaviour? Hmm, the plot thickens. I tried disabling the input accessory by returning nil from the inputAccessoryView property of the Responder object which triggers the keyboard. That suppresses UIKeyboardWillShowNotification and UIKeyboardDidShowNotification when there is a physical keyboard present, but keeps these notifications when there is no such keyboard. All good so far. Then I tried re-enabling inputAccessoryView only after UIKeyboardWillShowNotification had been received. This only fires when a virtual keyboard is needed, so it should allow me to reintroduce the accessory view in those circumstances. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, it seems the OS doesn't check inputAccessoryView after UIKeyboardWillShowNotification, so it fails to show the accessory view when it is needed :o( That leaves me with two options: Include the input accessory view, giving extra functionality for virtual keyboard users, but lose the ability to detect a physical keyboard and hence not supporting physical devices; or Exclude the input accessory altogether, preventing most users from accessing the extra keys, but allowing the app to work with a physical keyboard. Not a great choice, so I'm still keen to see if anyone else has addressed this problem!

  • NetworkStream.Read delay .Net

    - by Gilbes
I have a class that inherits from TcpClient. In that class I have a method to process responses. In that method I call I get the NetworkStream with MyBase.GetStream and call Read on it. This works fine, excpet the first call to read blocks too long. And by too long I mean that the socket has recieved plenty of data, but won't read it until some arbitrary limit is reached. I can see that it has recieved plenty of data using the packet sniffer WireShark. I have set the recieve buffer to small amounts, and very small amounts (like just a few bytes) to no avail. I have done the same with the buffer byte array I pass to the read method, and it still delays. Or to put it another way. I am download 600k. The download takes 5 seconds (at a little over 100k/second connection to the server which makes sense). The initial Read call takes 2-3 seconds and tells me only 256 bytes are availble (256 is the Recieve buffer and the size of the array I read in to). Then magically, the other few hundred thousand bytes can be read in 256 byte chunks in only a few process ticks each. Using a packet sniffer, I know that during those initial 2-3 seconds, the socket has recieved much more than just 256 bytes. My connection wasn't .25k/second for 3 seconds and then 400k for 2 seconds. How do I get the bytes from a socket as they come in?

  • IO operation taking long time for files in remote server

    - by user841311
I have files of size 150 MB each in a remote server in a different domain in the network. I am accessing them thorugh UNC path. I want to read the file content and perform a basic string search. When I try reading the files line by line, the operation just don't finish and takes long time, more than 30 minutes. However when I copy those files to my local machine, the same code reads and performs the string search in less than 5 seconds. I don't have .NET framework installed in the server so I have to do this from my machine. I want to perform all this through C# code in .NET framework 3.5 so I don't want to explictly ftp all the files to my machine before performing this operation. Sample Code DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(@strFilePath); FileInfo[] fiArray = dir.getFiles("*.txt"); foreach (FileInfo fi in fiArray) { //reading file content from server takes long time but fast in local machine //perform string search } Let me know if my requirement is not clear. Thanks in advance!
