  • Inserting rows while fetching(from another table) in SQLite

    - by Samuel
I'm getting this error no matter what with python and sqlite. File "addbooks.py", line 77, in saveBook conn.commit() sqlite3.OperationalError: cannot commit transaction - SQL statements in progress The code looks like this: conn = sqlite3.connect(fname) cread = conn.cursor() cread.execute('''select book_text from table''') while True: row = cread.fetchone() if row is None: break .... for entry in getEntries(doc): saveBook(entry, conn) Can't do a fetchall() because table and column size are big, and the memory is scarce. What can be done without resorting to dirty tricks(as getting the rowids in memory, which would probably fit, and then selecting the rows one by one)?.

  • Error when trying to refer to a field by name

    - by raja
    I am getting an error (document.my_formm.fieldName.value is null or not an object) from the below code: <html> <head> <title>(Type a title for your page here)</title> <script language=JavaScript> function check_length(my_formm,fieldName) { alert(fieldName); alert(document.my_formm.fieldName.value); } </script> </head> <body> <form name=my_form method=post> <input type="text" onChange=check_length("my_form","my_text"); name=my_text rows=4 cols=30 value=""> <br> <input size=1 value=50 name=text_num> Characters Left </form> </body> </html>

  • How to make a form using ajax, onchange event, reload to SAME page

    - by user1348220
    I've been studying this for a while and I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way because every form I setup according to examples, it doesn't do what I need. I need to setup a form that will: set session when you select from dropdown menu not reload/refresh page (i've read that using AJAX solves this) submit and stay on SAME page (confused because most AJAX examples send it to different process.php page which is supposedly "invisible" but it doesn't "stay" on the same page, it redirects. Basically, client selects quantity of 1 to 10. If they select "2"... it does NOT reload the page.. but it DOES set a session[quantity]=2. Should be simple... but do I POST to same page as form? or POST to different page and it somehow redirects? Also, one test I did it kept pasting my "echo session[quantity]" down the page like 7, 2, 3, 5, etc. etc. each time instead of replacing it. I would paste code but it's all over the place and I'm hoping for direction on which methods to use. Feel I need to start all over again. Edit: trying to add code below but can't seem to paste it properly. <? ob_start();?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <?php session_start(); ?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Submit Form with out refreshing page Tutorial</title> <!-- JavaScript --> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(function() { $(".submit").click(function() { var gender = $("#gender").val(); var dataString = '&gender=' + gender; if(gender=='') { $('.success').fadeOut(200).hide(); $('.error').fadeOut(200).show(); } else { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "join.php", data: dataString, success: function(){ $('.success').fadeIn(200).show(); $('.error').fadeOut(200).hide(); } }); } return false; }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> body{ } .error{ color:#d12f19; font-size:12px; } .success{ color:#006600; font-size:12px; } </style> </head> <body id="public"> <div style="height:30px"></div> <div id="container"> <div style="height:30px"></div> <form method="post" name="form"> <select id="gender" name="gender"> <option value="">Gender</option> <option value="male">Male</option> <option value="female">Female</option> </select> <div> <input type="submit" value="Submit" class="submit"/> <span class="error" style="display:none"> Please Enter Valid Data</span> <span class="success" style="display:none"> Your gender is <?php echo $_SESSION['gender'];?></span> </div> </form> <div style="height:20px"></div> </div><!--container--> </body> </html> <? ob_flush(); ?> and here is my page where the POST goes called join.php (called that in example so I went with it for now) <?php session_start(); if($_POST) { $gender = $_POST['gender']; $_SESSION['gender'] = $gender; } else { } ?>

  • Bitmap in ImageView is cropped off the screen

    - by Computerish
I'm working on an Android application that needs to download an image and display it inside an image view. The Bitmap is passed to the main java file and added to the image view like this: comic = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.comic); comic.setImageBitmap(c.getImageBitmap()); This works, except that the left side of the image disappears off the screen. The ImageView is in a ScrollView and the scroll view maintains the correct size. This means that there is black space to the right in the ScrollView and the image is cut off to the left. The XML for the ImageView is this: <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" Any idea why my image is being cut off? Thanks!

  • YAGNI and database creation scripts

    - by Daniel Straight
Right now, I have code which creates the database (just a few CREATE queries on a SQLite database) in my main database access class. This seems unnecessary as I have no intention of ever using the code. I would just need it if something went wrong and I needed to recreate the database. Should I... Leave things as they are, even though the database creation code is about a quarter of my file size. Move the database-creation code to a separate script. It's likely I'll be running it manually if I ever need to run it again anyway, and that would put it out-of-sight-out-of-mind while working on the main code. Delete the database-creation code and rely on revision control if I ever find myself needing it again.

  • Flex: Rendering a bound TileList - when does it finish rendering?

    - by python_noob
Hi, I have an mx:TileList which is bound to an ArrayCollection. I have some code that displays a "Loading..." message before modifying the ArracyCollection and some code after that hides the loading message. For small data sets, it works fine. However, I noticed with an array size of about 50~ and larger, flex will hide my loading message before the TileList is finished rendering the new data and I'm left with a blank screen for an odd second. Is there an event I can listen to that is called after the TileList is finished re-rendering? Code looks something like this: loading_message.visible = true; for each (var x:Object in new_data) { tile_list_data.append(x); // bound to my_tile_list component } my_tile_list.validateNow(); loading_message.visible = false; In this example, loading_message appear, disappear, and then the flex app will lag before finally revealing the updated TileList. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Java: I am trying to server a zip file through a link, but the file comes out as being empty

    - by Ankur
I am trying to server a zip file through a link, but the file comes out as being empty. My app takes a number of files and zips them up, then presents the user with a link to the file so he/she can download it. On the server I can see that the zip file is being created correctly, but when I download it from the server through the normal HTML link provided no data is downloaded i.e. a zip file is created locally but it has file size 0kb. The file names are of the form XPCS.2010-03-09.15.13.42.165.zip - will the dots cause problems?

  • Android Reading from an Input stream efficiently

    - by RenegadeAndy
Hey, I am making an HTTP get request to a website for an android application I am making. I am using a DefaultHttpClient and using HttpGet to issue the request. I get the entity response and from this obtain an InputStream object for getting the html of the page. I then cycle through the reply doing as follows: BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputStream)); String x = ""; x = r.readLine(); String total = ""; while(x!= null){ total += x; x = r.readLine(); } However this is horrendously slow. Is this inefficient? I'm not loading a big web page - www.cokezone.co.uk so the file size is not big. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks Andy

  • Disk Cost does not change for a per machine and a per user install

    - by eddie
I want to know how can i change or rather the computer changes the disk cost in case of a per user or a per machine install. I have an installer that is approximate 50 MB in size when i check in the program files how ever when i am using the DiskCostDlg it shows me 96 MB , i am doing a per user and a per machine install and i am surprised to see that in both the cases the disk requirement is same. I need to know if there is a possibility of changing the disk requirements or is it a default property of the Wix Installer. Thanks

  • How do you make an image opened in colorbox scrollable

    - by nicholas.alipaz
I would like my images that I open in colorbox to be displayed fullsize with no resizing applied to them and then apply scrollbars to allow for viewing the larger images. Some of my images are quite tall and things get pixelated when resized down. Currently colorbox just resizes my images down to the size of the available height/width. Is there a way to make all images display fullsize with overflow scrollable in colorbox? I am linking directly to an image: <a href="/myimage.png" title="My Image" class="colorbox imagefield imagefield-imagelink imagefield-field_portfolio_screenshot initColorbox-processed cboxElement" rel="gallery-12"> <img src="/thumb/myimage.png" alt="image" title="My Image" class="imagecache imagecache-portfolio_screenshot_thumb" height="50" width="50"> </a>

  • When to use the Flyweight Pattern

    - by elmt
So I've just gotten on the boost train and was checking out the flyweight pattern and was interested in implementing it in my project. Obviously, it doesn't make sense to use it on any class that has only has one instance of it. However, say I have 5 instances of an class. Should I be using the flyweight pattern or should it be only used for a class that has at least N instances. I realize that many factors will influence this answer (how many fields there are, the size of the fields, etc.).

  • How to add debug assemblies to my Silverlight 2 application?

    - by Steve Wortham
So I know now that the debug assemblies have been intentionally left out of the Silverlight runtime to save space. For that reason I get good detailed error messages on my local machine that has the Silverlight SDK on it, but I don't on a computer with the runtime only. I get the ubiquitous, "Debugging resource strings are unavailable." Unfortunately my requirements are a bit unique. I need to include the debug assembly (not sure which one yet) that will give me details of a regular expression error. And so essentially I want to include the dll in the xap if I can. The problem is that I can't seem to do this. I've tried adding the debug dll's as references and setting them to "copy local." And I've tried adding them into the project as content. But in fact, with either method the xap hardly grows in size and the error message doesn't change. Any ideas?

  • Eclipse debugging "source not found"

    - by James
I just started using Eclipse so go easy on me ;). But when trying to debug a JUnit test case I get a dialog that states the the source is not found when I get to this line in the code in my test method: Assert.assertEquals(1, contents.size()); I know I should probably go and try and download the source from somewhere, but I really don't want to because I have no interest in stepping into the JUnit code. I have the JUnit runtime jar so Why does Eclipse expect me to have all the referenced tools source code in order to debug my own code (seems somewhat silly)? My main question is though, how can I tell Eclipse to skip this dialog when the source is not available and allow me to continue to debug my own code? [Edit] I've isolated the cause of this. It seems that Eclipse seems to think it needs the source when an exception is thrown by the internal JUnit code. In general is there anyway to tell it that it doesn't and just have it throw up an error dialog of some kind instead?

  • Searching a 2D array for a range of values in java

    - by Paige O
I have a 2^n size int array and I want to check if an element exists that is greater than 0. If the element exists, I want to divide the array by 4 and check if the coordinates of the found element are in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th quadrant of the array. For example, logically if the element exists in the first quadrant it would look something like this: If array[][] 0 && the row of that coordinate is in the range 0-(grid.length/2-1) && the column of that coordinate is in the range 0-(grid.length/2-1) then do something. I'm really not sure how to check the row and column index of the found element and store those coordinates to use in my if statement. Help!

  • Solution: Android INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error.

    - by Andrew Smith
The INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error is the bane of every Android developer's life. It happens regardless of app size, or how much storage is available. Rebooting the target device fixes the problem briefly, but it soon comes back. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of message board posts from people asking why the problem occurs, but the folks at Google are frustratingly silent on the issue. There is a simple workaround. If your test device is running Android 2.2 or later then add the android:installLocation attribute to your application's manifest file, with the value "preferExternal". This will force the app to be installed on the device's external storage, such as a phone's SD card. For example: <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.andrewsmith.android.darkness" android:installLocation="preferExternal" This is more of a band-aid than a fix, and it may not be ideal if you want your finished app to install on the device's internal memory. But it will at least make the development process a lot less frustrating.

  • Math Question: Is it possible to calculate the row position as you loop through a cartesian product

    - by Kuyenda
Is it possible to calculate the row position in the cartesian product of two arrays? For example if you have one array of two rows and another of three rows it's easy to calculate the size of the cartesian product (Array1.Rows.Count * Array2.Rows.Count = 6), but you can't iterate through each array and just use the product of the respective row positions to calculate the row position in the cartesian product. Array1.Row * Array2.Row 1 * 1 = 1 1 * 2 = 2 2 * 1 = 2 2 * 2 = 4 3 * 1 = 3 3 * 2 = 6 Is there a formula to obtain the result 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 from Array1.Row and Array2.Row as you iterate through them in the following fashion: For 1 To Array1.Rows.Count For 1 To Array2.Rows.Count 'some formula here to get cartesian row position' Next Array2.Row Next Array1.Row Thanks!

  • MATLAB - Delete elements of binary files without loading entire file

    - by Doresoom
This may be a stupid question, but Google and MATLAB documentation have failed me. I have a rather large binary file (10 GB) that I need to open and delete the last forty million bytes or so. Is there a way to do this without reading the entire file to memory in chunks and printing it out to a new file? It took 6 hours to generate the file, so I'm cringing at the thought of re-reading the whole thing. EDIT: The file is 14,440,000,000 bytes in size. I need to chop it to 14,400,000,000.

  • jQuery: How to smooth animated image resizing

    - by nikibrown
I'm a jQuery noob - so please excuse the probable basicness of this question. I'm doing something pretty simple - on hover animate the position and size of an image. When you mouse over the images there are some noticeable 'jaggies' - is there a way to get rid of this? The jquery code is as follows and a live link is here kristechdev.metropoliscreative.com (hover over the icons). <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#zoomNav li img').hoverIntent( function() { $(this).animate({'margin-top' :'-35px', 'margin-left' :'-10px', 'height' :'95px','width' : '79px' }, 'fast'); }, function() { $(this).animate({'margin-top' : '0px', 'margin-left' :'0px', 'height' :'70px','width' : '58px' }, 'fast'); }); }); </script>

  • Does collections type conversion util methods already exist in any API?

    - by Delta
interface TypeConverter<T, E> { T convert(E e); } class CollectionUtil() { public static <E> List<T> convertToList(List<E> fromList, TypeConverter<T, E> conv) { { if(fromList== null) return null; List<T> newList = new ArrayList<T>(fromList.size()) for(E e : fromList) { newList.add(conv.convert(e)); } return newList; } } Above code explains converting from List of String to List of Integer by implementing TypeConverter interface for String, Integer. Are there already any collections conversion utility methods exists in any API like list to set and so on?

  • Save UIView's representation to file.

    - by fish potato
What is the easiest way to save UIView's representation to file? My solution is, UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(someView.frame.size); [someView drawRect:someView.frame]; UIImage *image = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); NSString* pathToCreate = @"sample.png"; NSData *imageData = [NSData dataWithData:UIImagePNGRepresentation(image)]; [imageData writeToFile:pathToCreate atomically:YES]; but it seems tricky, and I think there must be more efficient way to do this.

  • Winform not scrolling when drawing objects on it

    - by dezkev
Hello All, C#3.0,.net framework 3.5 I am drawing ( using the draw method in the graphics class) a lot of solid rectangles on a windows form vertically. The form starts at 500 x 500 px and the rectangles are only drawn at runtime after data is downloaded from the net -and the number of rectangles depends on the download so I do not know it upfront. So only a few rectangles are drawn as the size of the form is fixed. So I googled/Binged ( lest someone suggest I do that) and found a few tips but they don't work in this case -like setting the forms AutoScroll property to true or trying double buffering.I also tried to draw on a listbox control and set it's scroll property etc...but no dice. I'm guessing there is no way to display , say 200 rectangles vertically on a windows form using draw. I need some other solution... any ideas please. Maybe a list of pictureboxes and then populate each picturebox with the solid color ? Thanks

  • [Python] How do I read binary pickle data first, then unpickle it?

    - by conradlee
I'm unpickling a NetworkX object that's about 1GB in size on disk. Although I saved it in the binary format (using protocol 2), it is taking a very long time to unpickle this file---at least half an hour. The system I'm running on has plenty of system memory (128 GB), so that's not the bottleneck. I've read here that pickling can be sped up by first reading the entire file into memory, and then unpickling it (that particular thread refers to python 3.0, which I'm not using, but the point should still be true in python 2.6). How do I first read the binary file, and then unpickle it? I have tried: import cPickle as pickle f = open("big_networkx_graph.pickle","rb") bin_data = f.read() graph_data = pickle.load(bin_data) But this returns: TypeError: argument must have 'read' and 'readline' attributes Any ideas?

  • What JavaScript framework to choose? JQuery+JQueryUI, Dojo or ExtJS?

    - by Ivan
I am choosing a JavaScript Framework to master and use extensively in all my future projects (mostly working with relational DATA, web services via AJAX and implementing complex rich client UIs). Now I am choosing between JQuery+JQueryUI, Dojo and ExtJS. What should I choose? 1st priority is power and functionality, 2nd priority is beauty and maintainability of code and ease of use, 3rd priority is flexibility and modularity, 4th priority is speed and size. IE compatibility hardly matters, I'd like it to be modern, legacy-free and standard-conformant.

  • What is the preferred way to associate css styles with GWT widgets (using UiBinder)?

    - by smallbec
From the GWT page (http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideUiCss.html#cssfiles), it mentions 2 ways (for modern application): Using a CssResource contained within a ClientBundle. Using an inline element in a UiBinder template. Modern GWT applications typically use a combination of CssResource and UiBinder. So my question is, when should I use a css file and create a CssResource for it, and when should I define styles directly in the ui.xml file using <ui:style>? Are there any performance implication (i.e. resource size to download on the client) with either of these ways?
