• "Streaming" MJPG using python.

  I have a webcam that I want to do some image processing on using Python. It's coming through as a Motion-JPEG. I want to try to process the stuff "live," but really what I want to do is this: Open the URL, start data streaming to some buffer... Read x bytes (where x is image size) to an image Process that image Display in result panel Return to number 2 The problem is that, while I do have the resolution, I have no idea how many bytes to read. I've tried googling the M-JPEG specification but can't find anything on if the images are separated by some header or what. Anybody have any ideas?

• A question about indexes regarding to the gain of inserts & updates in database

  Hi, I’m having a question about the fine line between the gain of an index to a table there is growing steadily in size every month and the gain of queries with an index. The situation is, that I’ve two tables, Table1 and Table2. Each table grows slowly but regularly each month (with about 100 new rows for Table1 and a couple of rows for Table2). My concrete question is whether to have an index or to drop it. I’ve made some measurement that an covering index on Table2 improve my SELECT queries and some rather much but again, I’ve to consider the pros and cons but having a really hard time to decide. For Table1 it might not be necessary to have an index because the SELECT queries there is not that common. I would appreciate any suggestion, tips or just good advice to what is a good solution. By the way, I’m using IBM DB2 version 9.7 as my Database system Sincerely Mestika

  I'm new to the CKEditor and I'm trying to create a simple plugin. What I'm hoping to accomplish is to allow the user to highlight some text and then hover on a new item in the toolbar that drops down on mouse over a few different highlight color options for the text. For example, the user could highlight some text, hover on my new item and then select a highlight color. This will be similar to the 'BGColor' plugin except instead of opening a color palette to choose from, the user would select from a drop down of options similar to when you choose to change the font size you have a list of options such as '10', '11', '12', etc. Any help would be appreciated on how to pull this off. I was hoping to check out how 'BGColor' and 'FontSize' plugins where implemented, but I can't find these in ../ckeditor/_source/plugins. Am I looking in the right spot? Also, the link for plugins here - http://docs.cksource.com/CKEditor_3.x/Developers_Guide isn't clickable so I'm not sure if there's a place for plugin documentation that I can check out.

• How to add debug assemblies to my Silverlight 2 application?

  So I know now that the debug assemblies have been intentionally left out of the Silverlight runtime to save space. For that reason I get good detailed error messages on my local machine that has the Silverlight SDK on it, but I don't on a computer with the runtime only. I get the ubiquitous, "Debugging resource strings are unavailable." Unfortunately my requirements are a bit unique. I need to include the debug assembly (not sure which one yet) that will give me details of a regular expression error. And so essentially I want to include the dll in the xap if I can. The problem is that I can't seem to do this. I've tried adding the debug dll's as references and setting them to "copy local." And I've tried adding them into the project as content. But in fact, with either method the xap hardly grows in size and the error message doesn't change. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I have a UserControl that manages a lot of editable information (like text-boxes). Now I need to make a version of this control that has a different layout (from horizontal to vertical). I can expose the control, like this: public TextBox MyText { get { return myText; } set { myText = value; } } i can now manually change the location and size, but this does not give me a visual reposition of them at design time.   Hello All, With help of this question C# 4.0: Convert pdf to byte[] and vice versa i was able to convert byte[] to PDF. But the problem here is not all the contents were written in PDF. Byte array length is 25990 approx. Only 21 to 26 KB size PDF file was created. When i try to open the PDF it says file is corrupted. What could be the reason? I tried the BinaryWriter but it creates PDF of 0 KB.

• How to change object positions in an android layout?

  Hi, I'm currently working on a very simple aplication, and I intended to make it change the visual aspect depending on the screen size. The application just has 6 buttons like this: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/e1efb4c4d0.jpg I'm using the AbsoluteLayout, and changing the x and y of the buttons with the methods offsetLeftAndRight and offsetTopAndBottom. I'm not changing the layout of the buttons in the xml file, so the all start in the same place. However, if I use this methods inside the onClickMethod they sometimes appear where I want them, sometimes don't (can't figure out why), but if i use them in the onCreate method, nothing happens. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

From everything I've read, it appears I can only read in bytes, So I've had to set up a char array, and then cast it as a int pointer.   I am creating a graphics program that draws 100 x 100 squares next to each other depending on the user-specified grid size. The user also inputs 4 colours for the squares to be coloured (e.g. if they enter red,green,blue,yellow the squares will be coloured in that order, repeating the colours). Is it possible to loop the colours from the variables the user has given?   Here is my code I am using to make a label (which contains content of an unknown length) the correct height for the content. (lines is equal to 0) myLabel.text =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", myLabelContent]; myLabel.frame = CGRectMake(myLabel.frame.origin.x, myLabel.frame.origin.y, myLabel.frame.size.width, 800); [myLabel sizeToFit]; The only problem is, it is resizing the width as well as the height. I have two labels side by side, one aligned left, one aligned right. The left aligned one works fine. However, the right aligned one becomes intended (from the right). Because of its width resize, the content always starts at the origin.x position (in effect) because the label is made to be the shortest width required. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way to override or reset the width after auto resize had solved the height problem, or set a minimum width for the label? Many Thanks in advance, Deco

  I am using Protocol Buffers and OpensSSL to generate, HMACs and then CBC encrypt the two fields to obfuscate the session cookies -- similar Kerberos tokens. Protocol Buffers' API communicates with std::strings and has a buffer caching mechanism; I exploit the caching mechanism, for successive calls in the the same thread, by placing it in thread local memory; additionally the OpenSSL HMAC and EVP CTX's are also placed in the same thread local memory structure ( see this question for some detail on why I use thread local memory and the massive amount of speedup it enables even with a single thread). The generation and deserialization, "my algorithms", of these cookie strings uses intermediary void *s and std::strings and since Protocol Buffers has an internal memory retention mechanism I want these characteristics for "my algorithms". So how do I implement a common scratch memory ? I don't know much about the rdbuf of the std::string object. I would presumeably need to grow it to the lowest common size ever encountered during the execution of "my algorithms". Thoughts ?

  I was wondering, what is the longest possible name length allowed by the Windows kernel? E.g.: I know the kernel uses UNICODE_STRING structures to hold all object paths, and since the byte length of a wide-character string is stored inside a USHORT, that allows for a maximum path length of 2^15 - 1 characters. Is there a similar, hard restriction on a file name (rather than path)? (I don't care if NTFS or FAT32 imposes a particular restriction; I'm looking for the longest possible theoretically allowed name in the kernel, assuming no additional file system or shell restrictions.) (Edit: For those wondering why this even matters, consider that normally, traversing a directory is achieved by FindFirstFile/FindNextFile calls, one call per file. Given the function named NtQueryDirectoryFile, which is the underlying system call and which returns multiple file names per call, it's actually possible to take advantage of this maximum-length restriction on the path to make an extremely-fast directory traverser that uses solely the stack as a buffer. • Android views' borders issue on some devices

  Hi there, Some users have been reporting border alignment issues on some android components such as the alert popup or the editTexts. This is happening on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo (200x400) and the HTC Pro Touch (480x640) devices. I cannot replicate that because i don't own those devices and in the Samsung Galaxy S and emulator everything looks just right. I think that the problem is the dpi or resolution of the device (because the edittext background is a single .9.png so image should look ok); however I am not sure if the supports-screens tag is the solution. Also, application was developed using Api 3 (v1.5) and supports-screens was not yet supported, nor the screen-size resource qualifier. The style used for the alerts and editText is the phone default. Could the problem be something related with the theme applied to the phone by the user? • How come, diffrent text files become diffrent sizes after compression ?

  I have file of some random text size = 27 gb and after compression it becomes 40 mb or so. And a 3.5 GB sql file become 45 Mb after compression. But a 109 mb text file become 72 mb after compression so what can be wrong with it. Why so less compressed, it must 10 mb or so , or i am missing something . All files as i can see is English text only and and some grammar symbols (/ , . - = + etc) Can you tell why ? If not can you tell how can i super compress a text file ? I can code in PHP , np in that.

• Tuning JVM (GC) for high responsive server application

  I am running an application server on Linux 64bit with 8 core CPUs and 6 GB memory. The server must be highly responsive. After some inspection I found that the application running on the server creates rather a huge amount of short-lived objects, and has only about 200~400 MB long-lived objects(as long as there is no memory leak) After reading http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/hotspot/gc/gc_tuning_6.html I use these JVM options -Xms2g -Xmx2g -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:NewRatio=1 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC Result: the minor GC takes 0.01 ~ 0.02 sec, the major GC takes 1 ~ 3 sec the minor GC happens constantly. How can I further improve or tune the JVM? larger heap size? but will it take more time for GC? larger NewSize and MaxNewSize (for young generation)? other collector? parallel GC? is it a good idea to let major GC take place more often? and how?
