• CAN Controller DLL with Java Application. Unable to open CAN port.

  I am creating a Java application that controls a Controller Area Network (CAN) controller via a vendor-supplied can.dll file. can.dll contains a function bool openPort(DWORD memAddr) that allows the application to establish connection with the CAN controller. I wrote a C++ test application, loaded can.dll via LoadLibrary and found this function to be working as it should, i.e. it returns true. However, in my Java application, calling this via JNI or JNA returns false. I hope someone can help me with this problem as I have been trying to fix this problem for more than a week. Thanks :) JL

• WordPress: Using custom field to define posts to display in loop

  Hi, I'm trying to use a custom field in which I input the post ID numbers of the posts I want to show, seperated by commas. For some reason though, only the first post of the series of the post IDs are displaying. Can someone help? The value of $nlPostIds is (minus the quotes): "1542,1534,1546".   Okay, I need help. I'm usually pretty good at SQL queries but this one baffles me. By the way, this is not a homework assignment, it's a real situation in an Access database and I've written the requirements below myself. Here is my table layout. It's in Access 2007 if that matters; I'm writing the query using SQL. Id (primary key) PersonID (foreign key) EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits (boolean) There are events that people go to. They can earn normal credits, or super credits, or both at one event. The SuperCredits column is true if the row represents a number of super credits earned at the event, or false if it represents normal credits. So for example, if there is an event which person 174 attends, and they earn 3 normal credits and 1 super credit at the event, the following two rows would be added to the table: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 3 false 2 174 1/1/2010 1 true It is also possible that the person could have done two separate things at the event, so there might be more than two columns for one event, and it might look like this: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 1 false 2 174 1/1/2010 2 false 3 174 1/1/2010 1 true Now we want to print out a report. • flex List Size not updating when itemRenderer resizes itself

  I've got a list with a custom itemRenderer that's just a rectangle of specific size. The list <s:List id="thelist" width="100%" dataProvider="{thelistdata}" itemRenderer="ListItem" borderVisible="true" /> Note the list's border is visible to help with debugging The itemRenderer <s:Rect id="box" width="50" height="50"> <s:fill> <s:SolidColor color="blue"/> </s:fill> </s:Rect> When the itemRenderer receives an event, it changes its size to half box.width = 25; box.height = 25; I see the itemRenderers are resizing themselves correctly, but the list itself stays the same size and the border stays where it is. Anyone knows how to fix this bug. Basically the list should refresh its size too to fit the smaller boxes.

Inmediatly after that it autocatically log out form the session. Any ideas?

• Ordering recursive result set in SQL Server

  I am having extreme difficulty constructing a query which returns an XML style hierarchy. We have a database table which contains a hierarchy of URLs for our website. The table contains the columns: ID, URL, DisplayName, ParentID, ItemOrder The parent ID forms a recursive relationship between the current item and it's parent. The item should site below it's parent in the hierarchy and it should also be ordered using the item order against items at the same level in the hierarchy. I have managed to get a recursive query working so it drills down the hierarchy sequentially but I cannot order this by the item order as well. • Meteor exception in Meteor.flush when updating a collection breaks reactivity across clients

  When I'm calling Collection.update from the front end (the method call is allowed), the update does work ok, but the exception below is being thrown (in Chrome's JS console, not in the server). Although the update took place, other clients connected to the same collection do not see the updates until they refresh the browser - I suspect because of the exception. • checking if records exists in DB, in single step or 2 steps?

  Suppose you want to get a record from database which returns a large data and requires multiple joins. So my question would be is it better to use a single query to check if data exists and get the result if it exists. Or do a more simple query to check if data exists then id record exists, query once again to get the result knowing that it exists. Example: 3 tables a, b and ab(junction table) select * from from a, b, ab where condition and condition and condition and condition etc... or select id from a, b ab where condition then if exists do the query above. So I don't know if there is any reason to do the second. Any ideas how this affects DB performance or does it matter at all?

• Rails - How do i update a records value in a join model ?

  I have a join model in a HABTM relationship with a through association (details below). I 'm trying to find a record....find the value of that records attribute...change the value and update the record but am having a hard time doing it. The model setup is this User.rb has_many :choices has_many :interests, :through => :choices Interest.rb has_many :choices has_many :users, :through => :choices Choice.rb belongs_to :user belongs_to :interest and Choice has the user_id, interest_id, score as fields. And I find the ?object? like so @choice = Choice.where(:user_id => @user.id, :interest_id => interest.id) So the model Choice has an attribute called :score. How do I find the value of the score column....and +1/-1 it and then resave? I tried @choice.score = @choice.score + 1 @choice.update_attributes(params[:choice]) flash[:notice] = "Successfully updated choices value." but I get "undefined method score"......What did i miss?

  Hello, I've been playing around with Active Record a bit, and I have noticed that A.C./ORM always uses the following database model when creating a one-to-one relationship Person id | country_id | name | ... Country id | tld | name | ... No I wondered, isn't this a violiation of the third Normal Form? This clearly states "Every non-prime attribute is non-transitively dependent on every key of the table". Well this country_id isn't dependent of personid is it? So is this wrong or am I just not getting the point?

• DocumentFragment not appending in IE

  I have a select list which, when changed, pulls data via ajax and dynamically creates select lists. Then based on the data used to create the select lists (a type), I pull more data via ajax if i don't have it already and create the options for the select list and store them in a fragment. Then I append that fragment to the select list. This is zippy in FF3 and Chrome but either doesn't append the options at all or takes a long time (minutes) to append the options in IE7. Isn't this logic that is supposed to work in LINQ?

• PHP Menu Items More Button

  Hello, I use the bellow code to load the main menu elements from some CMS, the present code is perfect except that it loads ALL the main items on a single line of menu - which will make the width of it unusable in any centered design (under 1000px).. I want to change this script so after 15 main elements will add a "MORE" button under which the rest of the main menu items will show as sub-items of this "MORE" button (they will not have their own sub-items as the first 15 do).. Another problem with Firefox is that requests to /Home/Refresh are made every second not every 5 seconds. I noticed that after I clear Firefox cache the script works well first time button1 is pressed, but after that it doesn't work. I would be grateful for helpful suggestions.
